Review Warung Bali - Geelong

Excellent quality meals, full of flavour. Tom is a beautiful human, taking the time to make all his customers feel welcome.

Really delicious food and friendly service. We booked very late and the restaurant was very accommodating with fitting us in. We ordered dessert after our main, and it did take a while to come out, but we were told they had been making a fresh batch of the black sticky rice. Most customers appeared to be repeat customers and known to the owners who were happy to have a chat.

Best Indonesian Food in Geelong hands down. Tom and Michelle are lovely people too which makes for a great authentic experience. Beef Rendang and Sapi Bali are too die for dishes.

Delicious food, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices, and Tommy the cook/owner(?) is a great guy.

After being closed for so long it was great to once again experience your wonderful food. You never disappoint - if anything it was better than we remembered. Yuuumm! Welcome back!

Love this place. Food constantly good. Staff & owners are very friendly. Pity they're temporarily closed, I miss their delicious food. It's no secret, the owner/chef had an accident. Re-open in Easter 2021.

Good service but the food is extremely overpriced and not that good. Chicken satay skewers were nice but 2 for $10? What even? On what planet does that amount of food cost $10?
Really nice bathroom and friendly service but my vegetable had dirt in it which I crunched down on and my meal wasn’t free they only gave me half off because I “didn’t like my meal very much”. We only ordered mee goreng and nasi goreng because they were the cheapest meals. Everything else started at $22. Do they realise how much curry you can make with $22? Considering you can get a full meal in Melbourne including roti for about $8-$12, ridiculous.
Won’t be back.

The decor of this place is awesome, intensively done, mixed of javanese and balinese culture, we were straight away felt comfortable as we know the culture very well and it just felt like home.
But thats about it, all the food that we ordered, came out very sweet and not authentic at all, i wanna know which part of bali that has these kind of food really? For them who like it either they never been to bali or they dont know bali that well as theres no way balinese food taste like that.
The kare tahu and tumis bali tasted similar just different consistency and colour, gado2 used brocolli, cauliflower, carrot, and bokcoy really?!
And what is that paste? Watery peanut butter with no herb/spices whatsoever, at least they can use the instant gado2/pecel paste that they sell in indonesian groceries and they taste so much better. Mee goreng was actually not bad but since its very sweet and the chicken satay tasted like theres no marinade on it and burnt on top so it was also a disappointment.
Price wise was expensive to have a small portions for 18$ without meat and tumis bali with a few prawns and tiny scallop for $24 with simillar taste, really?
Service was friendly and fast but she was in charge on the cashier, as a waitress, taking order on the phone and also help in the kitchen, how can it be? No wonder she was overwhelmed and we have to ask a few times for things that we need.. and really, we didnt blame her at all.
We left disappointed, somemore i brought my dad and he was happy to find indonesian restaurant in geelong at first until we ate the food, i would’ve brought him to eat dumpling instead if i knew.

Overall, it was an OK experience. The atmosphere and ambience was really lovely. Unfortunately, we were let down due to the service as meals took a long time to come out and some of the staff weren't very friendly. The food, while not bad, wasn't great either. A solid 3 star experience, has the potential to be a lot better.

Was expensive. Meals took forever. And it was like soup. Nothing like traditional Indonesian food. Rice you have to pay for seperate in which I find disappointing. There is no credit card facilities. It's cash only. I won't be coming back

We ordered a Nasi Goreng and a Mei Goreng and they were both delicious and good quality. There was good service and the music makes you feel like you are back in Bali. Went on a Saturday night and got a table without a booking.

Elaine. Just had a takeaway, curry puffs very nice, nasi goring was terrible, chicken stick was burnt, rice was dry and tasteless and no egg, only thing in there defence they were very busy, but this shouldn't be an excuse, we have dined there many times, but this was very disappointing.

Great food. We have been meaning to try out Warung Bali for so long. Two nights ago we did and wow, we have a new favourite restaurant. Food was just delightful (Corn Fritters as a starter are to die for). Great flavours and quality produce. Wonderful service and just effervescent personalities by our hosts. We'll be back....again and again..........And again.

Yum!. We've been coming here for years now and we're never disappointed. Whilst the prices are a little more than what you'd pay in similar Asian restaurants, it's well worth it. Take away is better value, but it's nice to eat in. It's a bonus that you can BYO beer and wine. Carnivores and vegetarians alike are well catered for. Only thing is that service can be a little slow and the desserts aren't to my liking. That being said, it's a great place and I'm always happy to eat here!

Been quite a few times over the last few years and food is always delicious! Service is friendly, it's often really busy & you can see why!
Taste
Fantastic!. The food here is brilliant, best in the region. The curry's are top quality like you would get in Melbourne. The beef randang just melts in your mouth, if I could I'd be eating there everyday LOVE IT

Dislike. I don't think they cook their rice everyday! I can taste the rice are from few days ago and has been microwave few times ago. Order Grilled chicken with curry sauce (can't remember the dish name) the chicken was hard and dry. nothing really special, taste like everything are from peanut butter!
The place is squeezy, very smoky in the dining area!! If you have breathe problem not recommended to visit this place!

Beautiful. Beef rendang was so tender and flavoursome. Nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Small and a bit awkward dining
area but the food is authentic and very tasty, we shared a selection of each course and were rather impressed, a little heavy handed on the ginger but all in all a good spread. very prompt and attentive service. will definitely go
back!
Regular Diner
One of my favorite locals Good value Good food The banquet is great and the black rice pudding is a great way to finish a meal

Enough to turn me off, I think. This review probably isn't that fair, as I only ordered spring rolls for takeaway. $6.50 for three smallish ones.

The reason I'm writing, is that I was pretty pee'd off with what I received. For $6.50 you'd expect a bit of action, not too much, just a bit would have been nice.

What I received was something that tasted like spring rolled baby food. It was just mush, inside, though the pastry was sort of ok, for packet pastry, and they were fried well. The sauce in that little tub I got was straight out of a (cheap) bottle. Not even Trident quality. I've had Coles brand spring rolls that tasted 9000 times better than what I ate.

I probably will give it another go and try for something a little more authentic. I guess I just wanted to point out that sometimes it's the small things that will turn you off a place. Not great restaurant practice, as I'm local and they'd get a lot more than $6.50 from me over time if the spring rolls weren't so ordinary.

I do wish that some local Asian places would reduce their menu so they can improve the quality. I threw two of those spring rolls in the bin and skipped across the road to the new Japanese place there, which is looking after locals and seems to be getting better with time.

So that spring roll I did eat cost me over six bucks and that's why I'm annoyed. Having spent some time in remote parts of Indonesia eating at 10,000 rupiah warungs (all the goat you can eat, and yes - it was a while ago, lol) I guess I should have known not to order spring rolls.

When I'm over the butt hurt of the crap spring rolls, I might give this another shot and order something more authentic and give a fairer review. As is, I'm in no hurry to return.

Good prices, good servings. Great service! Loud due to a small restaurant, but it was fine! Don't forget it's BYO only, so bring your grog with you!

The quality of the produce used shines through in every dish. We ordered some old favourites.
