I had the Mexican bowl from here and I loved it! Service was also great and the staff were super polite. I’m from Melbourne and I would come down here again specifically for the food! Thanks guys for the great experience :)
We had a fantastic brunch, would highly recommend. Kids loved the choc chip waffles w berries, choc sauce and ice cream. Beautifully presented. We enjoyed the eggs Benedict and chorizo bagel. All superb. Great modern cozy cafe. Tip, booths have PowerPoints so you can charge electrics! Nice. Kids loved the secret door to the toilets.
In a little side street in the centre of town, A Spot for Joe is one of those cafes that is worth seeking out. With a cool urban fitout and a comfortable atmosphere, this is a pleasant cafe for your morning or afternoon cuppa.
Service is very hospitable, and prompt. With a decent menu and some appetising sweets, you are always guaranteed something lovely to eat. They also do a great takeaway coffee, and A Spot for Joe is well worth a visit if you are in the area.
Tried out this place for takeaway bagel and coffee.
We tried the egg and bacon bagel and the salmon bagel. For a hearty bagel option the egg and bacon bagel had good flavour and not for the lighthearted. The salmon bagel I have defiantly had better, perhaps red onion and a bit of avo would have made it a winner.
Coffee was good, and they serve almond milk which was tasted nice considering I only usually drink Milk Lab almond milk. Would definitely go back!
Had a wonderful experience at this cafe last week! Only visiting Geelong for the night and needed somewhere for breakfast that would seat me and my 8 other family members (eeeek!!). Already knowing that was a big ask, despite the small selection of tables, staff were more then welcoming of our favour and managed to save a large share table for us all! (bless you guys!!)
The service was relaxed and friendly, which really helped with a large group.
The coffee was amazing, I had a soy latte and ordered a second one it was that good! I also had the smashed avocado, which was fresh and generous! The rest of my family enjoyed their meals heaps!
I would love to come back if I got to Geelong again! Especially to to get another coffee ❤️❤️❤️
Looking new coffee destination when we came across this place. A very non descriptive frontage. Not on a major thoroughfare. This is somewhere you come to deliberately, rather than encounter by chance. This is somewhere worth seeking out. They do not have a huge range on offer, but what they do, they do very well. The attention to detail of the staff when we stopped in was fantastic from the care given to making the coffee to making sure that the displays were clean and tidy at all times. It appears to be very popular with those in the know. This popularity did make it a little noisy, but the atmosphere, quality of the food and service certainly made up for it. Would recommend this place to those that believe in quality rather than just quantity.
I couldn’t disagree with the last review more. I think the new owners have brought this place to life. A welcoming hello when you walk in, and good customer service overall. I had the granola and a black coffee. Both were really enjoyable. I will be back!
Cutest cafe, delicious Breakfast Rice Salad. It's a big meal and I'm full for ages. Comes with a fried egg and this really tasty pesto yum! Staff are sweet and friendly. I'd love to see some other non toasty type options as well and I'm totally coming back to try one of the smoothies!
I visited A Spot For Joe this morning to grab a coffee. My partner had assured me it was great coffee so I was keen to try. I usually drink an almond milk latte but the waitress noted that almond milk doesn't go well with their coffee but they do serve coconut milk. I trusted I'm the waitress and was not disappointed. Coffee was one of the beat I've had! Will certainly be back!
My soy flat white was mildly bitter, but I appreciated the soy coffee art.
Avocado on toast was well-constructed, but nothing special flavour wise. The toast was tasty and not too crunchy. On top, there was a ripe mountain of avocado speckled with the perfect amounts of tomato and feta. The chilli salt mixture and lime on the side were nice complements to the dish.
A Spot For Your Coffee Fix. Best coffee I had during the 3 days I spent on the Bellarine - Dukes coffee I believe with very nice caramel notes. The Vietnamese inspired chicken panini was even better than what the Vietnamese shops do :) No problems with the service at all - staff were all friendly and efficient. I'm enjoying my takeaway cherry friand right now back in Melbourne.

Hidden Gem!. Great coffee and ambience, all be it a little crowded during rush hour.
Yummy Soup. Four of us took a welcome stroll away from the workplace to have lunch at this somewhat hidden gem.
I had soup of the day which may not appeal to some as it was kale, brocolli and spinach. Yes, it was green. It was delicious though and just the thing for a winter's day. The others enjoyed their meals. We'll be back!!
LOVE THIS PLACE. Has to be one of the best places in Geelong to get a latte and light food. Yes they are busy, but their is a reason for it. And I don't like how people in other comments say "I had to wait 30mins for a coffee" Boo-hoo! You can clearly see they are busy and their are a lot of people who want coffees as we'll ,it's not only you that has ordered.
These guys do food extremely well and their coffees are even better! Go and say hello..

Food was amazing (I has the chorizo panini), coffee served at the right temperature, got some smarties with it and I got to pay upfront (which always appeals to me)
A great spot...not just for Joe. This place has great atmosphere, excellent coffee and tasty food, Once you enter the venue, you dont want to leave. When I visit my old stomping ground, I try to make my best effort to grab a coffee and a bite before my long trip home. This place never disapoints. Every little touch is perfect, even the smarties you receive on your t-spoon when you order a coffee. Looking forward to seeing the friendly staff very soon.
Great spot!. Not sure what all the negative comments are about... if you like a cool ambience and a consistently great coffee - oh and yummy food that isn't what you'd find at a food court, then A Spot for Joe is where it's at. It's so frustrating when people knock locals having a go.... are you going to a cafe for a good coffee or to have you ego fluffed? Seriously. This place is great, and thank goodness there are more and more popping up around Geelong's CBD. One of the best little gems in Geelong's cafe scene.
Had a take away coffee, which was very delicious! The food looked great too - will have to return to try some of these tasty treats! But will definitely go back for the coffee!
Feast time!. Thought ill give a crack at A spot for Joe's Single Origin and todays one was (Erwin Miersch Javanica) Notes: Sweet,Hazelnut,Lemon,Golden syrup. The coffee was good 7/10. Food wise the bacon and egg toastie with cheese and a very delicious sweet chutney WoW was it good. Will be back again to try more.

Great coffee and smashed avocado!. It's nice to see establishments popping up in Geelong that raise the bar in terms of coffee, quality and interior fit-out. There are far too many places down here charging $3.50 for terrible coffee and dated decor. Congratulations Spot for Joe :)
BEST COFFEE IN GEELONG!!. Finally a barista with a true passion and understanding of how to achieve a beautiful perfect brew EVERY time.... the flavours blow me away. Jared is a true artist and I love his passion and the coffee!
Food is almost as amazing as the coffee fresh as you will get. But my passion is all with the coffee.

A coffee or a pair of jeans.... I find it disappointing to read about the reaction customers give to cafes and businesses like a spot for Joe. Don't these cafes look great from your side of the fence as you order your daily dose? " I could do that, and better!" you say. Try 300 coffees a day, 7.30 to stumps 6 days a week, and try to smile and chat to everyone! $3.50 for rent of a seat and coffee with a friend doesn't give you rights to cheap shot at the proprietors. I love them. A spot for Joe hits a mark in Geelong that no one has had the balls to do for remote areas like car parks, lane etc. Fuel trailblazed (not a word), and more should follow. Don't dent the motivation of future entrepreneurs like this couple.
My favorite place for coffee in Geelong, coffee is consistently great and the service is a few steps ahead of it's competitors, great job guys

A spot for joe has got it just right in every way, from interesting menu items, fantastic coffee (and plenty of sweet treats to go with that, like lamingtons, baci’s and Argentinian alfajores), very friendly service and an amazing fit out and location – it’s places like this that breathe new life into Geelong’s dining scene and excite coffee and food lovers who, for so long, have pined for a taste of that city-style chic in our own little town.
