The food here is 100% delicious 😋 have been here quite a few times for lunch. My fave is the bento set (pictured)

Great sushi. We always come to this place for our sushi fix. Lovely staff, they will make your sushi if there’s none ready. They have a full menu of other Japanese foods as well.

The sushi was made right in front of us. So fresh. Tasted so good. And it also came with ginger and wassabi. Customer service was AMAZING. The workers were incredibly nice. Highly recommend this place. It was $27 for 10 sushi pieces and came with 2 free cans of soft drink.

This is our fave sushi place. They make our sushi order fresh every time. They have a 31 piece sushi and sashimi platter, and you have the option to request it to be all salmon (if you're a salmon lover). The original platter consists of salmon and prawns 50/50. Sushi is our comfort food. 👌👌👌

So good! They were packed up when we walked in, it wasn’t a problem the friendly staff member offered to make us whatever we wanted, it was done super super fast, and was delicious, so fresh! They even threw in a free soft drink. A+

Always reliable especially for lunch option. Fast and cheap and decent portion+quality. Only thing missing is alcohol licence but other than that it's perfect!

03-AUG-15 : Enjoyed their lunch special Katsu Don with Miso soup. Extremely good value at $8.20! The crumbled pork was crispy and well cooked. The egg and onions with sauce and rice made it complete. Well worth another visit soon.

Best katsudon!. Don't know what happened to that previous reviewer, but katsudon at Sushi 8 is delish.<br/>Nuff said.

Worst Katsudon EVER!. Just returned from a quick lunch here...The $8.80 lunch special sounded enticing and ordered Chicken Katsudon. How disappointing, it was double fried as the dark coloured crumbing was a giveaway, the chicken itself had no texture and wondered if it was really chicken? it was grey and definitely not juicy white and flavoursome as the Katsudons I have eaten in the past on my travels...Don't bother with here, I would rather make the trek to Shannon Ave Sakura Tei as they seem to be the best in town!

Until recently this was my fave Japanese restaurant on Geelong, always piping hot and fresh , love the chicken Katsura curry and hotate fri ( crumbed scallops ) , reasonably priced , not always the best service ( as In no smiling !) and no eftpos which is annoying , but great food , still go but have found an even better one!!!!

Excellent, so glad we made the move. Had our regular dose of sushi again here tonight and it was delicious; thank you! We made the move from a neighbouring sushi bar where we had been going for years, no regrets. A Chinese girl who was staying with us was working at Sushi 8 and had been encouraging us to move. She told us that the kitchen is clean and that she really liked working there - that decided it for me! The salmon is not the flouro pumped type, a light lovely pink and really fresh tasting. Avocado is always firm but not hard. Crispy prawn is really good ... I'm told, crispy chicken is not as good but my daughter is prawn mad. Sushi is full and rice is soft but not too wet. Occasionally it does start to split but only if they have just made it for us. Never a problem. Always happy to make something up for you, lovely fresh wasabi and I always get it and the ginger included. They know to separate the wasabi for my daughter. A lovely touch. We have all eaten in on one occasion and it was just as good. Always friendly and they remember what we order!!! BIG bonus being remembered. Thank you and we will be back!

Waited 2 hours, ate KFC. Use to go here a lot, but went back for the first time in about a year.<br/>Went for dinner with 6 friends. After 2 hours we only had 2 meals, 20 minutes apart (and although those two were quite nice) left and had KFC for dinner.

Money = first, Customers = last!. I don't come here anymore mainly for the same reason I have stopped going to Fujisan. Poor treatment from the female owner! I was a very loyal customer for years and sometimes Mrs Sushi8 chose to charge me for wasabi and ginger that was 'free' for other customers. Instead of being happy about the repeat business she was worried about the ginger and wasabi she was giving away. After questioning her about it.. she stopped charging me (albeit reluctantly). I also once booked an upstairs table for my daughter's birthday dinner. She had always wanted to eat upstairs and invited school friends to this particular meal. Only problem was..when we arrived, the female owner said we could sit down stairs because they gave our table away to another party. "Bigger booking". Again.. all about money..not about caring for loyal customers. I've been treated relatively ok by the male owner..and all the other staff.. But after the birthday booking was just given away without even consulting us.. my daughter doesn't want to go there anymore. I went through periods of boycotting Sushi 8 for months at a time...(as funny as that might sound). I LOVE SUSHI.. but to keep being treated poorly is just not on. So we just don't go there anymore. It seems in order to find good sushi and be treated well every time.. we have to travel to Melbourne. P.S. I regret to say we went back recently because it seemed like Mrs Sushi8 wasn't around. (This is how much I love sushi)! So we dined in, had sushi and a bento box..and my glass of tap water arrived with a sizey, pink lipstick imprint on it !! (I'm going to add the photo of it here) When I brought it to their attention..it was whisked away.. no apology. The food was poor and even the change in decor has cheapened the place. It's gone further downhill ! Can you imagine how much I was kicking myself for spending money here again! I'm a sushi lover, desperate for good sushi and service!!!

2 faves. Such fresh food , steaming hot as it arrives , you must try Hotate Frai , (crumbed scallops) served with a delish japanese BBq sauce, my other fave Chicken Katsu curry , served with rice , loads of finely sliced onion in a mild curry sauce with crunchy crumbed chicken, best in Geelong no doubt....

I love the way the bento boxes at Sushi 8 aren’t taken up by a massive serve of rice in one of the little compartments, unlike at some other Japanese restaurants.
