Review Cocco Lounge - Geelong

Good food, good service. We went there with little kids and the staff were very friendly and made us comfortable with what they could offer. A female staff brought some drawings, painting books for kids to enjoy. It was a really good experience with you Cocco. Visited 16/01/2021 AM.

Gluten free (Celiac/coeliac) friendly menu. One of the staff is celiac for peace of mind in regard to kitchen prep care. Dedicated deep fryer means you can enjoy crisp chips with your burger etc. and it was a very nice high quality burger I was served at that!

I stopped by yesterday noticing the café has changed hands and is now Kaldero Café. What a great place, nice staff, excellent coffee and a very cool menu. I couldn’t recommend the chicken bao buns more highly – absolutely amazing!

We came to see if the change of hands had brought with it an improvement but unfortunately, it was worse. The pros: the condensed menu, nice service and the lack of general clutter around the space that the previous ownership had had. The cons: the latte was about 1/3 froth, toastie ($7 for ham and cheese on white bread) was under-done and the zucchini and feta fritters, the only vegetarian lunch ($18.50 for two) were soft and small, with an undressed salad as a side. I am sure these are just teething issues, as a business changing hands under the current situation is bound to have, but overall we left underwhelmed and disappointed.

Loved it! Ran across this wonderful surprise on our way back to Melbourne. We had the lamb shank pie, which was delicious and decorated with fried sweet potato, gravy and smashed peas. I could have had 2 of them! Would highly recommend if in the area!

Came here for a late lunch on Sunday. Food was ok but what was shocking was the service. after 15 minutes of placing our order, the waitress came back to us saying she "lost" our order". Once the order arrived, we asked the older waitress to get us tabassco and tomato sauce. Once that arrived, she said that will be $2 - it would have just been 2 tablespoons of both the sauces . I was surprised that she didnt tell us before she got us the sauce. That would be the minimum that was required of the service. When I returned the sauces saying that I wouldn't pay for it, she just took it back to the kitchen. So much for cleaniness and covidsafe practises. All in all a poor quality restaurant. I wouldn't go back there again.

Came in for the first time and it was great service friendly staff members. Food was great the atmosphere was great too. My 2 little girls said it's the best place they have been to.

Good atmosphere, good coffee. I'm not a good cook at all - but the roasted sweet potato dish I could make, maybe even better, at home, as is was just a roasted sweet potato with things (not really cooked in any special way) thrown on top of it. My two friends enjoyed their dishes.

Nice coffee, cafe presented well, but underneath the surface this is a poorly run cafe. Breakfast was a disgrace, poached eggs had been precooked and sitting for a long time, the egg yolks were so hard they had turned white. Zucchini fritters were soggy and undercooked. We kindly asked for a refund and the manager/owner did not know how to operate her own till to issue the refund. We had to wait almost 10 minutes at the counter until she gave us money from her own wallet. I was shocked at the whole experience. On a side note, my son’s scrambled eggs were fine.

I had the " burger number 1" from the lunch menu today, and it was so so sooo good, I considered it to be my favorite burger in Geelong so far!! The burger also came with nicely seasoned chips. I will definitely be back again!! And the service was friendly and quick too.

This place has great pizza, mystery beer and pinot AND fast and friendly service - spot on! There was also fresh homemade tiramisu - we couldn't fit any more in but the people on the next table said it was delicious.

Any excuse to get a Hawaiian pizza! Delicious :) unfortunately my boyfriend ordered the chicken parmigiana and it was a disaster! They used chicken thigh and the Napoli and cheese was not cooked so avoid that item.<br/><br/>Note: this was from December 2015. I do hope they have made that change to the Parma.

Located next to Geelong village cinema this place was a surprise for a Melbournian. The cocco pizza had a perfect base and the generous shavings of meat was just delicious.

They made the best garlic and cheese pizza ever. Bruschetta was delicious, lamb pizza with tzatziki yum. 5/5 for service and food. Prosecco was $38 bargain. A real gem!!

The very best woodoven pizzas weve had in ages!!!! 10/10. The thin pizza bases were cooked to perfection and more importantly the traditional italian way. Even our nutella / banana with ice cream pizza was just the best and to die for. Highly recommended!!!!!

Wednesday is the day for the best pizza bargain in Geelong. Not only are they so cheap but they are bloody good too. The staff are friendly and helpful. The decor may be a bit plain but the food is what counts for me.

Dear Kate Kelly,<br/>How can you write a negative review about an awesome cafe that accommodated you and all your 25 plus team mates to come to eat breakfast without NO booking and to expect every meal be within your ideal time frame??? If you have to complain, say it right there and then and not social media! Im sure there are better things in life to do!

This place is pretty hit and miss. <br/>But to my observation, throughout the time I was eating my meal and chatting with my friends I noticed the boss could treat his staff a bit better

Why go to Italy to get a great authentic wood fired pizza, when we have the same on our doorstep in Geelong at cocco pizza lounge. We have been back many times this year, since finding this gem of a pizzeria. The staff are great and food exceptional. <br/>

NEGATIVE - went here for brekky on a Sunday morning, and it was terrible. Although we were a group of 8 or 10, there wasn't many other people there. Our meals came out at different times, and by different, I mean like one meal every 10-15 mins. The avocado was brown, there was shell in the scrambled egg, the mushrooms were disgusting, the hash browns were so cooked there was no potato left in there and they put bacon on my toast when I had clearly asked for a vegetarian meal. And to top it all off, the staff were HORRENDOUSLY RUDE. Could not believe how rude they were, and they could at least pretend like they were enjoying themselves. Absolutely terrible. Will not be back.

Yummy pizza. A friend and I ducked in for a quick pizza before a movie and we found them quite delicious. Very Italian styled pizzas with great toppings and not heavy on the stomach. The chef came over at one point and asked us how it was; we got to some friendly chatting before having to leave for the movie. Nice warm atmosphere inside too especially with the wood oven firing in the background.

Food was yummy. Went to Cocco the other night with a girlfriend and we both were very happy. I had the lamb special and she got a pumpkin pizza, both were great. Service was lovely from all staff. Will be back again, keep it up!

I was fairly skeptical of this restaurant after reading a number of reviews here. However after having dinner here I was more than pleased. <br/>I ate the risotto with duck and found the meat to be very tender.<br/>The girls who served me were friendly and the restaurant had a fun relaxed vibe. I definitely recommend dining here.

Chicken still clucking?. Not normally one to complain about food but very unimpressed. I used to love coccos food. Service has never been their strong point but the food has always been good. Tonight however my chicken parmi was very much uncooked and completely raw in the centre. As I said not normally one to complain so I ate my chips and salad and ignored my raw chicken. My friend was wanting to complain however and was planing on saying something when we payed. So we go up to pay, the lady says how much it is, pays it off and asks if we want a receipt. Didn't even ask how the meal was or if we enjoyed it, which is what my friend was waiting for so she could say honestly. <br/><br/>Very dissapointed. If you don't like hospitality you shouldn't be in it but if your going to be at least do it properly or you will lose a lot of customers.

Perfetto. Everytime that I go in there everything is spot on. Service very quick. Owner so nice and passionate. Authentic italian pizza, and trust an italian guy when I say that this is the best pizza in Geelong and definitely top ten in Victoria.

Had delicous authentic italian pizza from Cocco! Staff were so friendly and welcoming. We used to enjoy pizza at Two Sugars but definalty rate these pizzas a lot more! Yummo!!! We will be back next week for sure

Best hot chocolates in town!!!!!. I have never been to Cocco Lounge before as my husband and I live in Lara however yesterday we went in for a coffee before the pictures. My husband had a latte and he said the coffee was fantastic. I don't drink coffee so I had a hot chocolate and it was unreal. Creamy with the perfect amount of chocolate flavour and the European looking man was very humorous and made our hot drinks at lightning speed. We were very happy customers and I will definitely be coming back for that unforgettable hot chocolate!!!!!<br/><br/><br/>-----14 Jan, 2015-----<br/><br/>Very impressed. Lunchtime service:Bland, tasteless food and terrible service. We were the only people in the restaurant and still had to get out of our seats multiple times to seek assistance. The staff were far too busy gossiping and horsing around to see to our needs or take our order. When finally the moody young lady did take our order she didn't look at us and snatched the menus away. The wait/bar staff were shouting to the kitchen staff across the room. Very unprofessional

Awesome cafe!. Been here a numerous of times now and its good to see the pizza is up and running again! Love the coffee and the food. Not just your average cafe!

So sad to bad. The staff here are so rude and unprofessional, they walk around like they wish they where somewhere else, ive been here a few times and have noticed there rudeness but thought they must be having a bad day, but after bringing a friend here for the first time she was disgusted in how rude they were , the owner needs to talk to there staff or get new staff, the fella that served us was just disgraceful , , what a shame as the food is excellent, we have amazing places to eat here in geelong so will be going else where from now on

Good Food, Unfriendly Staff. Food good, but I haven't come across such rude, cold and unfriendly staff for a long time. You guys need to clear up your act and at least try to be hospitable. Shame on you.<br/><br/>This is the only time I have ever left negative feedback, so that speaks for itself.

Have never had an amazing experience here, but the food is consistently good and reasonably priced. Quality coffee and fairly friendly staff.<br/><br/>The location and long opening hours make Cocco the pick of the cafés around this area.

Different people have different ideas about pizza, but this was one of the best I had in a long time. And for me this will be go to pizza place in Geelong. Thin crust but full of flavor, high quality toppings, proper oven just perfect.

Ruuby. Rude, arrogant staff. Talking about us as they stood at the counter. Sloppy service! The waiter who claimed "he was only there for his good looks"...........hmmmmmmmm I don't think so! Have worked in hospitality myself so know what constitutes good service and well presented food. Won't venture in there again.

On our way to the movies and decided to have something to eat before hand. Went into Cocco lounge and tried abit of everything. Pizza was awesome and my <br/>mate had a pasta dish. Both really great. Didn't realise the place was all one now<br/> and good on to the guys for making the <br/>place as it is. Will be back and not just for the movies.

OMG. I can't believe some of the negative reviews regarding Cocco's, I have been eating there approx 3-4 times a week (due to long working hours) for over a year. I am on a special medical diet and nothing is too much trouble. I find as far a personality goes in customer service you often get a mirror effect !! You just have to sit and watch how people behave. I LOVE the COFFEE! food is always fresh, hot, and I am always looking forward to trying something new off their SPECIALS board. I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner at Coccos and have always enjoyed my meals, many of my friends go there on my recommendation and they all agree "THE FOOD IS GREAT" They make all the cakes and prepare everything in house.

I was recommend Cocco lounge by a friend so we decided to check it out. I had a parmy and my mate had the beef goulash thrown down by a couple of<br/>beers. Atmosphere and service was great and loved the tunes that they were playing! Reading some of these other reviews, I think some have got it wrong. Will be taking the Mrs here next!

Had my doubts based on previous reviews but I loved it! Service was professional yet comfortable, owner bought a rose off a guy selling them and had it given to a little girl with a big personality on a nearby table which was very sweet. Food wise, Had garlic bread which was amazing it was Turkish bread and was so soft. Porterhouse steak wasn't huge but for $25 it was good (chips were amazing). Lamb cutlets very tender and side salad was one of the best I've had. Overall a must for anyone, especially those catching a movie afterwards as the location is perfect. Will be back, top work guys!

I would just like start my review with what a miserable experience that was. Firstly I walk into this downright horrible atmospheric cafe and considered walking straight out after I was looked at like I didn't deserve to be walking the face off the earth. The owner or whoever the arrogant man standing behind the coffee machine was gave the worst service I have ever been subjected to, and the rest of the staff nearly matched his efforts. He proceeded to tell me that I couldn't have poached eggs instead of fried eggs with my big breakfast or whatever it was called because I've made too many alterations to my meal in which I had only added a serve of avocado to(which came out as 1/8th of an avocado anyway). The bacon may as well have been a pig on the plate it was that well uncooked, the "sourdough" bread was just thickly sliced white bread, the sausages looked and tasted repulsive and to top it all of the latte I ordered came out as a bubbacino with a shot of burnt coffee in it. Oh and the orange was horrendously disgusting, you should probably think about getting a different supplier. <br/><br/>In conclusion, if I won tarttslotto, I'd pay this guy to never open a cafe again.

GREAT coffee and cakes, I was a little bit disappointed when staff were using their mobile phones infront of customers however the experience was a good one.

Coffee Good, food and Service not so great. Whilst the coffee was good, the service and the food left a lot to be desired. The food was tasteless. The staff arrogant. If you don't like the job, don't do it!<br/>Won't be back... won't be recommending...

So Consistently Good. My favorite dish here is the Pumpkin Risotto, i hope they never take it off their menu. I know how hard it is to make a good risotto and every one i have had there has been awesome. My partner regularly gets a warm summer salad or chicken dish and they always come out great. If you are looking for somewhere that offers fantastic food, at great prices, go to Cocco Lounge as everything there is great!

Yum!. I tried Cocco Lounge about 4 months ago for dinner with friends before a movie next door.<br/>Was a nice atmosphere and although it is a cafe you must try their meals... Absolutely amazing!!!<br/><br/>Service was good and i was pleased to be asked how our meals were by the guy who served us..<br/><br/>I have returned twice since and each time was just as pleasing.<br/><br/>Hats off to the chef for this one.

Fantastic. Would like to say I don't I don't like to write things on here, but I went to Cocco lounge for the first time lastnite and I must say that the staff and the food was just perfect, it's was very busy and they managed to give attention to all the customers. I will b speeding the word about this place highly recommended, every business has a bad day and makes mistakes, you can't please everyone but I was very very pleased. To the owner and staff at Cocco well done and keep it going. And coffee AMAZING

I used to frequent this cafe/bar, but in the last year or so, they have really disintegrated. As far as I'm concerned, when you burn the milk, chuck it out. I have been a barista for 6 years, and it took me a week to learn perfect coffee. If your staff can't grasp it, then please don't put them on the machine, it's a privilege to make coffee and love should go in each cup. As far as service is concerned OH MY GOD! Be happy, even pretend you like your job, I do, and I receive $30 tips a day. You need to understand that in hospitality, customers are your profit and if they go, so do you. Will go again one day, for my own benefit, but, golly, awful place and will not ever recommend!!

If you commit to living social DO NOT make your customers feel second class. The bad thing is it wasn't even my first time there. TIP for management..... be nice to your living social clientele, some may well be coming to you for the first time.....if they like it they come back......just like I do now to "GOBBLE"in East Geelong. Check that out before this place. Honestly, service by the girl wad atrocious, food was good though.

A little hit and miss.... Have only been to Cocco's for coffee and a few snacky items. The coffee can be really good or very average. There is a guy barista who makes a great coffee but the young girl working the machine the other day made my take away so scolding hot that it was actually undrinkable for at least 10 minutes. It has prime location next to the cinema and I wouldn't mind trying the food as a few of my mates have said it is okay. Not bad but not great... Maybe more consistency on the coffee would have me back more often.
