I had my 21st in the sporting globes upstairs cocktail room last night and it went great. I just want to say a massive thank you to brock and Sam who did amazing with keeping up with all the demands behind the bar. They were so lovely, down to earth and made the experience so much more enjoyable. I would highly recommend a function just because of these guys !!! Thank you again.
From the time we entered to the time we left the experience was amazing. Tahlia was fantastic, she remembered our orders there were 7 of us. Her manner was professional and friendly. Highly recommend the ribs best in town .Brock at the register was also excellent .
I can not fault this place!
Asked for a table for 9 and a high chair and only had to wait 5 minutes for some rearranging to be done then the meals come out and they were just perfect! Everyone of Us enjoyed them and then the deserts were amazing! We had the golden gaytime ice cream sandwich and the sticky date pudding!
Your waiters were awesome too!
2 years in a row I've watched AFL Grand Final here and I've had nothing bad to say. All I'll like to say is good crowd, awesome service and delicious food. I love this place
Go in here all the time never have any issues!! Service is great, some times there is a little waits for food but that is expected when it’s busy. Great food, great vibe, great service
Genuine pub, great service, great food, great beer. Always a good time at the globe. Benny you are a champ.

The place for a meal thats not overly priced, definitely be back with friends and family. The staff and friendly and helpful.
Great meal and fantastic service. Highly recommend
Great night despite the 15% surcharge on the food (boxing night) great service and great atmosphere thank you - staff are fantastic
I really liked the chips here. We sat in a booth and had burgers. Also had the calamari and avocado salad which was delicious but needed more calamari. Nice sauces accompanying the meals too.
Me and my partner just left the place. We obviously loved it! The girl served us is very well trained and helpful! We had pulled pork slider, boneless fried chicken with honey soy, beef burger with French fries. We enjoy everything! The food is so good, maybe the best pub food we ever had. The waitress is lovely and helpful! Beautiful place for watching sport! Will definitely come back next time when we visit Geelong !
Beautifully refreshing cocktails on a stinking hot day! Calamari vs Avocado bowl was a yummy, healthy option. Fiancé enjoyed the sliders however the kids Mac and cheese balls were slightly over cooked and hard. Still all eaten, so couldn’t have been that bad! Booths with a tv a great idea! Wish we had no kids tonight so we could hang out in the beer garden hehe. Will certainly be back, thank you!
I love to go Sporting Globe Geelong , ambience and Customer service is excellent and I love and I will always order Signature Buffalo wings it’s really amazing.
Great service, it’s very busy so it’s noisy but the booths are great. The bacon cheese burger was excellent and the calamari was really tender although it was a bit salty.
Above average pub food, relaxing environment.
Our day was meant to consist of a trip down the coast and lunch in a pub somewhere, just to get my family (including me) away from our screens. Before we got half way to Geelong the weather turned to crap with continuous rain and gloomy skies, so we used our phones (okay, so they are screens too, I know, I know) to find somewhere to eat in the Geelong city area. We settled on the Sporting Globe hotel in Ryrie Street, the main strip.
Parking was a bit of pot luck but we managed to get a spot (metered) just around the corner so we only had a short walk. Our first impressions were good, there were nice tables and chairs along one wall as well as some booths. We opted for a booth, which could probably accommodate 6 in a pinch but for the four of us it was great - plenty of room. I liked being near the windows so you could watch the world go by outside while you were relaxing. The menu had plenty to choose from, especially if you are a meat lover. There were multiple screens showing different things but thankfully the volume was down very low as this would have annoyed me no end as I hate it when people can't do a thing without a TV being on.
The service was friendly and professional, with the waitress giving us a bit of time before approaching us and pointing out the specials of the day.
I ordered a Porterhouse steak, medium rare with garlic butter and it was cooked perfectly, melting in my mouth. Someone knows how to cook a steak. My wife ("are we there yet, I'm hungry") ordered the pork ribs with a hickory barbecue sauce. The ribs were reasonably generous in size and the taste was great but the only let down was that they should have been hotter (temperature), they were just above warm by the time they got to the table. Boy #1 had 24 buffalo wings so that he could share with all of us. They were tasty but not the best I have had. Boy #2 had a humongous hamburger with beef, pulled pork, bacon and God knows what else. It cost $25.00 but he was very happy with it. All meals came with chips and a smattering of salad (the salad was a small amount of lettuce and some thinly sliced red onion with a Caesar-style dressing and could have done with a few pieces of tomato in my opinion).
There were some really nice beers on tap (Wild Yak, Furphy, 150 lashes, Carlton Draught, Bulmer's cider, etc) and we sampled a few. On tap is always so much nicer than a bottle and you really do enjoy it more and I am not much of a drinker at the best of times. Pub food and beer. Mmm.
The special of the day was a 2-for-1 deal on dessert and the waitress asked us several times if we wanted any, reminding us that we could take it away, but we were too full.
Overall, the pricing was above average, but then again so was the food. We would go back again.
Good food with a nice vibe. Great choice of interiors and seating. Some meals were a better choice then others. Plenty of gluten free options and a large variety of meals. Fairly priced, with daily promotions. Would definitely try the other locations in Melbourne
Can happily say that this is my go to place to start the night off!
The food here is awesome! Service is always great! Plenty of seating and areas for smokers. Plenty of tv screens to watch the footy etc. Great music!
Cant really pick a fault, would highly recommend that you try this place out!
Lots of options to suit lots of different people! Went there and had an array of different foods - Looks great since it's been upgraded, new menu, feel and design. Left feeling satisfied, would recommend for people looking to cater for everybody. Dessert platter was wonderful too.
A sports themed pub in the style of TGIF, Chillis etc. Serves solid Aussie food. Good parmas. Food tends to be a little on the hearty side with large portions.
Verdict: Citrine
Been spending a fair bit of time in geelong and been here 3 times.... as far as pub grub with a sports bar feel can't really go too far wrong with this joint. Steak always cooked med rare (average quality meat) sauces are what they say (pepper goes alright) and the loaded wedges a must.
Mrs didn't rate the chicken salad but as far as the other tucker goes.....mint!
Get a booth if you canamd make a saturday night of it.
Service was good. If you love sport like me it's a great venue. Food was fantastic. You didn't feel like you were in a pub. Will definitely come back.
Okay so this is a great place to hang out for sure, however it gets really busy which is fine and understandable but we waited for our entree for about half an hour and another 45 for our mains. One of the mains came back incorrect as well which was annoying to wait for. Getting to the food, the onion rings and buffalo chicken pizza was great. For the mains, wasn't a fan of the pulled pork sliders, a little bit too strong tasting for me I'm not really into pork anyway and this reaffirmed it. I got buffalo chicken wings which I thought wasn't that great it was more sour than anything and the sauce didn't really go with it was rather disappointed. As its a go-to place I will definitely return but probably not on a Friday/Saturday night due to the wait times.
I wouldn't choose a place like this to eat myself but was attending for a Christmas function so I didn't have a choice. But I was quite surprised. I had the pea and halloumi burger, even though there was no halloumi to be seen or tasted it was pretty good. The vegetarian options at places like this are often pretty bad so I was impressed that they had made some effort to include a decent option.
I will be back despite hiccups.. We ordered our mains with garlic bread to come out first. Our main meals arrived with no garlic bread, we asked where it was and the waitress advised that she forgot to put it through and she would get it for us if we still wanted it but we decided not to get it as we had our mains. I ordered the chicken and prawn risotto which was delicious and full of flavour with a good amount of prawns. 2/3's through my meal I went to eat some chicken which flopped on my fork when I picked it up, I cut it in half to find that it was was raw so I cut another bit which was also raw. I let the waitress know and the plate was promptly removed from the table and the waitress Grace was extremely apologetic and was very pleasant to deal with. The issue was fixed straight away and Grace went well above what I expected to resolve the issue. Despite the above I will definitely be back as my meal was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it until I got to the chicken and in the end we didn't need the garlic bread as we were full without it. A big thank you to Grace at Sporting Globe.
My kids love eating here - sports mad & love American food. Normally, I'm pretty happy. Last night, we ordered burgers & the patty had ZERO flavour ! I don't think it even was seasoned. The chips are bang on & the service overly friendly but if you are going to charge top dollar, you want to deliver a true good burger with a bit of flavour !!
Not too bad. Think average pub meal. Kids eat free on Sunday night which is great for family. Service is not brilliant, but it's certainly not terrible. Food is ok, certainly nothing special.
Awesome ribs, too bad I have to sell a set of my own to be able to afford them..
Great food, Excellent staff. Stopped in with some friends for dinner and drinks on a very busy Saturday night, a mix up with our order left my girlfriend waiting for her salad. After inquiring at the bar the bartender told me he had put another high priority order through AND gave me a voucher for our next visit. I had barely got back to my table before her meal came out. Was really pleased with the service. The food was great. Highly recommended for quality pub food in Geelong CBD.
Fantastic service. Service was excellent, Corinne did stuff up our order but it was ok, as her friendly and bubbly personality made the night more enjoyable. Definitely coming back for the $10 burgers and cocktail jugs.
Fun relaxed afternoon!. Delicious burgers with entertainment...will be back again and again!
Sunday Regular. Some friends and i wanted to catch the latest Main Event for the evening and decided we would meet here.
Whilst we were there why not have something to eat...
Service was excellent!
Cider Sundays was a bonus!
Food was great!!
We had a good variety of food.
Myself, i ordered the "MVP Wrap" which is a simple chicken wrap stuffed with fresh salads and a beautiful sauce.
Tried some of a friends Chicken Parmigana and was also very impressed.
This place is now a regular Sunday spot for catch up with friends that gives you a great environment in the centre of town that hasnt missed a beat!
Catch you Sunday!!
Good food, good service, great deals. Had a quick meal there Sunday night while waiting for the kids to come out of the pictures. Staff were friendly and efficient, service was quick, our salad and fish&chips were tasty and well priced.
Apparently you can get a meal plus a $10 movie voucher for the Village across the road, which would be a good deal, have to try that next time. Also each night has other deals, Sunday was "kids eat free", hence the big family group at the table next to us. The waitress did a good job cleaning up the floor after they left, all in a good humour, which was nice.
We'll definitely be going back there.
Great lunches, definitely recommend the chicken risotto as well as the calamri salad.
