Review Darriwill Farm Highton - Geelong

Nathan W
To understand his review, you must understand that Darriwill Farm Highton is two very different things. First it's a cafe and second it's a gourmets food/gift hamper type shop. The luxurious food offerings and homewares in the gift hamper part of the shop are lovely and the prices for what you actually get can be considered experience. We often create or buy off the selve hampers for family. The a very well presented but can get pricey if you actually want some substance to your hamper The Cafe. Which is the focus of the 2 star review. We visited Anzac day 2022.  The queue was long due to the added demand, as the neighbouring coffee shop was closed. We ate in with coffee and a cake.  The coffee cups even the large size are still incredibly small, they are clearly provided by the coffee supplier Julius Meini. I didn't have an issue with the long wait, I didn't have an issue with temp of the coffee, my issue isn't with the service at Darriwill Farm. Not as polished as it could be but survivable. The issue is the coffee,  hardly any flavour, and stupidly small servings in the Julius Meini cups.  I would have expected an espresso in the cup used not a cappuccino. Please get normal cups/mugs and better coffee. Geelong has some good local roasted Coffee - unfortunately you don't and you don't use good local roasted Coffee. I sit at Gustos most weekends wondering why 63 Degrees is busy, why Gustos is busy and why Darriwill isn't as busy. Maybe it’s the coffee.

Ordinary all round: Customer service not good, dish I ordered was fish fillet with mashed potato and asparagus. The asparagus had been "grilled" hence it was raw and inedible! Won't be going back!

I made a fairly late order for pre-Christmas delivery. Was a bit worried so phoned and emailed to make sure that it would be delivered. The staff was patient and professional in all the dealings. The hamper was delivered perfectly and the receiver was really happy. Thank you very much!

Very poor attitude to sale returns by customers. While waiting to purchase a gift, I witnessed a woman trying to return a mens Apron in a box when she stated she had wanted a womans Apron and the man behind the counter escalated the matter to the manager. While he was doing that she told me that she always supported the shop but this is not what she wanted. The manager arrived, clearly not happy and refused to accept the return on the basis the Apron was not faulty, even though it did not meet the purchase requirements. I felt very sorry for her for the treatment she was receiving and then he said he would escalate the matter also to his wife who had served her but that she wasn’t in today. The other man apologised to me for the delay offering to serve me. I had to turn on my heels having witnessed this stonewalling by the proprietor. I could not in good conscience buy from them even though it was a perfect gift. Fortunately discovered a nicer attitude and gift nearby. Manager needs some training!

We went to Darriwill to purchase a gift for my mother in laws birthday.. we purchased some chocolate and spent nearly $100 . My mother in law in formed us that the inside of the chocolate was hard instead of runny as it should have been. Looked at the dates on the back & it was 3 months over it's expiry.. Contacted the store and the manager said we don't do refunds & you should have known as they were 50 % off . !! So it's ok to sell product that's out of date and off, as long as you get it cheap..!! Oh my god what kind of a business does that! And did not even offer to give us a replacement . And not even an apology.. It was our fault for not checking.. BUYERS BE AWARE.. CHECK DATES ON ANYTHING YOU BUY IN THIS STORE.. THE STORES POLICY IS NO REFUNDS .. DISGRACEFUL !

We had breakfast here on 20 Dec. I ordered sides - I received one mushroom for $4.50 and one tomato for $3.60. I gave the waiting staff the feedback but no one offered compensation. Not good value for money

I asked Jim to put together a brunch platter of hot and cold savory foods and sweets for a birthday and the food was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend Darriwill for great tasting food fine in or takeaway. Cheers Wes
