I've had Mexican food before from other places and I've also had authentically cooked Mexican food made from scratch.
El Santos is definitely the sort of place that clearly outlines the difference between the two.
Unlike your usual Mexican tasting dishes that you'd find in large franchise chains, the food here is made right.
Just one taste of the symphony of flavour will show just how much care and thought gets put into their meals.
My wife and I really enjoyed our time here, between the food, the atmosphere, the friendly staff and the relaxed venue setting, El Santos is definitely a great Mexican restaurant and I'd dare say the best thus far.

Good food at El Santo Mexican! Staff was helpful and food service was quick after ordering. Overall found it a bit pricier for the portion size.
Food that I enjoyed:
1. Fish taco (maybe a little less sauce would be even better)
2. Korean beef taco (really liked the asian twist on tacos)
3. Corn cob
4. Sangria (liked that it wasn’t too strong and was refreshing)
5. Beef quesadilla
Also had pollo adobo which I found okay. It was bit on the spicier side which I liked but less flavourful than what I was expecting.

Wish this was our local Mexican restaurant! Awesome service, fun interior, fresh and tasty food. And the margaritas were 11/10! Would love to visit again when we are in town

The food is good however the service really is upsetting and not adequate. Whenever I book a table I always specify that I would like a normal table not anything at the bar etc. But when we get there we always get sat at the bar and just shrug saying they can't do anything making you stand around and wait when there are open seats.
If you're not with a group of at least 5+ people they won't take you seriously and not care.

Friendly staff. Authentic flavours and cuisine but totally stingy on the portion. $55 per head for the full course banquet which was more like a glorified tasting plate or tapas and no real substance to the meal. Not even close to substantial. Disappointing. Had to cook when I got home!

We made a booking on the Thursday for Saturday night. We even confirmed the Saturday morning and they confirmed it for us. We drove 2 hours to get there and was refused entry, as they said our booking was for Tuesday night…? This is proof of the incompetence of the staff and when speaking to the manager, he was completely unwilling to accommodate for their mistake! I will never go or recommend this place to anyone!

Tasty food, lovely service and the best Mojito I've ever had! I keep coming back and bringing friends who have been equally impressed. Don't expect Taco Bell/Bill this is not the 1980's, let this is good clean Mexican food surprise & delight !

Different to the usual Mexican in Geelong. No nachos as such - fried corn chips with sides and no melted cheese. Burrito in a bowl unless you ask for a tortilla wrap. Was tasty, but different. If you are after different... give it a try. Friendly, helpful staff,
Tiny table which wasn't really necessary considering it wasn't that busy. Wine medium to expensive ($9 to $13 a glass).

Crimes Against Mexican food. The burritos were filled with quinoa, which is NOT an ingredient I've ever seen in a burrito in some 32 years of living living southern California where we flu Mexican food every day. Bye every one of my friends grimaced after tasting their margarita and was like '"So this ... is a margarita?" When in fact a properly made Margarita is NOT some sort of acquired taste but something obviously delicious. Seriously, crimes against Mexican cuisine are committed here.
