Review Picket Fence Restaurant - Geelong

Brilliant atmosphere and great food! Absolutely loved the arancini balls, and coffee is always fantastic. Definitely pay this place a visit - the owner and staff are wonderful and brings such a good vibe to the place!

Ocean Trout - generous serving. Hollandaise and avo combo is awesome. Pork Belly - the watermelon in nam jim dressing goes perfectly well together (and together with the pork belly). Highly recommended. Just felt like I had fine dining dishes for brunch.

We were regulars when thia was The Cottage and were excited to try it as Picket Fence. The pros: The staff are very friendly, welcoming and efficient. The food was super nice and portions good value for money. The ambience is nice and bright and not too loud like it sometimes used to be. The cons: There were less than a dozen customers when we arrived for breakfast, yet our meals took more than 30 mins to arrive. For some bacon and eggs, this is too long. On the plus side, someone did acknowledge our wait time and assure us our food was on the way. They seem to have a lot of very new staff members, which made for some confusion at times. We ordered cookies before we left, to take away with us, we were charged for one more than we wanted (ended up just taking extra instead of watching poor confused staff member try and work out how to refund us)... they are $5 biscuits, so this was a bit disappointing. All in all, the quality of the meals and the really good customer service, made us far more tolerant of the errors. We will definitely return and hopefully when we do, these issues will have been ironed out.

Absolutely beautiful owner - was so well looked after and such a great atmosphere. Best muffin and coffee we've had in a long time, and lovely decor. Would absolutely recommend!

Nice coffee, lovely old house as the cafe, but wouldn't go back for food. I struggled to order something for breakfast but decided to give the ramen noodles a go. Too many flavors were crammed into the broth and the ham hock gave it an odd flavor. I was hungry (and didn't want anything else off the menu!) so I ate it but was still hungry afterwards! My partner ordered bacon and eggs with a side of hollendaise. It came with 1 small piece of sourdough and while the bacon was lovely, it was half thick rind and bland hollendaise. This cafe was always popular in the hands of the last owner, I just hope the menu becomes less pretentious (did I want to add "botanicals" to my breakfast? No thanks, I'm right for tomato and mushrooms) and the flavours simpler and more cohesive.

Had a great relaxing lunch at Picket Fence. The staff were really friendly, and when I asked them what they recommended they suggested the Korean Beef which I really enjoyed. Coffee was 5 stars.

Good coffee. Nice garden. The bread wasn't toasted for the eggs on toast. Forgiven to some extent 'cos it was excellent bread. Friendly staff/management

Really nice food, good coffee and great service. This is a beautiful place to sit and unwind.
