Review The Provincial - Geraldton

We’re staying at Ocean Centre Hotel and their room service is provided by The Provincial Geraldton. We ordered salt and pepper prawns and when it arrived it was 4 tiny prawns and it was $18. Seriously $18 for 4 prawns and a lemon wedge. Don’t waste your time or money on this. I still can’t believe they have the balls to charge that much for such a pitiful dish.

My favourite pizza of all time was found in this little joint. Never would I have thought pear, pork and mustard would go together so well on a pizza!

I wish I could rate it a million stars cause this place makes the best pizza in all of Geraldton! 🍕😎

A group of 5 ladies had the meal special for $21 including wine. I had fish and chips. Very nice. Others had pizza. Everyone liked their meals. Friendly staff, good location.

Yommy steak was very reasonably priced for how good it was, service was great too. (I recommend ordering via the bar as its faster.)

We are working out of Geraldton and have people coming in and out of the Ocean View Hotel all the time. The Provisional with its great share plates, drinka and good service have a reputation across the company as the place to go for dinner. It is a place that beats the Perth metro places as its has the friendly country service with first class food.

Went for dinner with work colleagues. It was a very enjoyable evening. Very relaxed atmosphere. Some of the meals are a little on the pricey side but as they say if you enjoy the food you haven't overpaid. I ordered the Sri Lankan Fish Curry. Very tasty dish and the prefect serving size. Will definitely eat here again

Went there 2 nights in a row, the 5 spice pork belly & fish tacos are INCREDIBLE. Staff are great & the manager & owner are friendly and willing to have a chat & help out. Best place to eat out in Gero by far! Meals were a little slow and the music was a bit loud but it was busy and the atmosphere was great. Plus the quality of the food makes up for that IMO haha :)

Best meal we've had in ages. Beautiful food for both me and the husband who rated his parmifians one of the best ever. Friendly, attentive staff.

Pizzas were amazing! Shame it’s such a small area. Trying to get out back without spilling your drink running into someone is quite a mission. Very very loud; had to yell to have a conversation.

The most amazing staff on the planet!! Kiren and his team welcomed us in an hour after they closed and offered to feed/water us long after the kitchen closed!! (We were victims of a late Qantas cancellation!)The staff were amazing and the food was delicious. Thank you so much for your genuine kindness and amazing service!!!!

Funky bar with fabulous well priced food. Good service. Only reason for only 4 stars instead of 5 is one of our groups meal came out well after everyone had finished. However management offered a complimentary drink for the inconvenience which made up for the only small blemish on a great evening.

Great vibe. Service was very good. Went on a public holiday and wasn’t impressed with the 20% surcharge for food and drinks thought that was a bit over the top. Meals were good. Will go back but not on a public holiday

Fantastic service! We took our two kids on a Friday evening and had a great meal. They catered for my allergies and my steak was cooked perfectly � hubby says fish of the day was yummy too � will be back!

Get amongst the 5 spiced pork belly. One of the best food experiences I've ever had. I thank the chefs and the team on this one. Absolutely amazing

Came all the way up from Perth and this little Gem was fully booked! The lovely owner/manager behind the bar was quick to help us with a table! The best service � can't wait to eat.... I've heard the pizzas are amazing!

Went there for a bite to eat with our daughter who was up from Perth, they were fully booked but fitted us in for a pizza which was awesome. Daughter was very impressed.

Delish pub food. I opted for the calamari which came out flavourful. Also had a bite of the pork belly which is absolutely yummy. Only downside is that we were seated next to some drunks who kept interrupting our dinner, which could be expected when you’re at a pub or bar.

What a pity. Such a great location and pub. Food was terrible, a real disappointment. We ordered Arancini, vegetarian nachos and vegetarian pizza. The Arancini was cold in the middle, so the best bit (the cheese) was not melted but a hard bit of cheese. The nachos although very tasty was also cold, the cheese was hard.. Then the pizza, worst pizza ever, it was like eating bread with raw vegies. Like WTH, not happy and the price - way over priced.

Pork Belly Pizza is sensational. Service and Ambiance is great. Highly recommended for Dinner. Also do a really good expresso martini 👌🏻went with a large group all meals came out at once and everyone enjoyed their meals.

Great spot - a standout in Geraldton if you are looking for something fresh and young and modern. The food reads to be great but is 80% in execution.

Pork belly Devine!!! Enough for one and great price. The spices are just enough and the pork is so tender, with exceptional presentation. Service was brilliant with the owner/ manager (I am assuming) behind the bar being very involved and helpful.

Great spot to come for a drink on your way out. Gets a bit hectic on a Friday or Saturday night sometimes. Isn't open very regularly for lunch though which is a shame

After hearing good reviews we thought we'd try it out. Disappointed!!!! chicken Parma burger was like mush, pulled pork tacos weren't bad but lacked flavour and the steak burgers were ok!! Not pushed on the wine either. I'm a massive dessert fan but after my main I was too afraid to try it!!

Staff were lovely and the pizza delicious. The prawn dish was average. The biggest downfall was the wine. For a place that refers to themselves as a 'wine bar', I expected a selection of wine. Not the case. This however, is typical of the region and not this bar specifically. Overall, the setting was decent and a good night was had.

This is a place with awesome pizza (fluffy, chewy dough with a good crunch), service and ambiance. The staff were super friendly and the food came out really quickly, even though every seat in there was occupied. Definitely worth a visit. Might be worth booking on the weekend - we were lucky to come across the last unreserved table, at 5.30pm

Great spot in the Main Street, one of the best.. Pizza was just perfect..These guys do an amazing job, service was top shelf nothing to fault left super happy after a great meal..

Ridiculously loud music. Food was good. Staff didn't want to listen or maybe the music was so loud they just couldn't hear.

Nice surroundings but my goodness is there many, MANY opportunities for improvement!! Waited well over an hour for pizza on a Tue night, staff really have no clue about service "it's not our fault", why do you insist on making me drink my red wine from a white wine glass, why is the music so loud when people are trying to talk to each other. It's such a shame because this place could be really great. But it's not.

Awful food and service! On.... Awful food and service! <br/>One out of 4 meals came out within 5 minutes of ordering the next 2 another 5 minutes and the fourth took an additional half hour. Might of been ok had the food been good. The fish was not cooked all the way through the steak was dry and tough. Unfortunately none of us enjoyed our meal. Time came to pay the bill and they couldn't even get that right!

Awesome place for a family casual dinner. Taken my kids for pizza whilst enjoying a beautiful piece of fish and salad. Reasonably priced and if my kids eat all the pizza (when they don't eat mass produced pizza) they must be good. Fair price for meals and a nice place for a casual meal. <br/>Love it how it is.

Poor service , poor food , the owner is arrogant. Tiny pizzas with very little on itfor top dollars. How do you justify 18 bucks for a cocktail ....this place won't last long

Not a foody place despite it's pretensions. The latest incarnation of the Provincial has kept the rude and slow service while halving the menu and increasing the drinks prices. So the food isn't worth the hassle any more really. <br/>Has a tapas menu which has nothing on it one would call tapas - in Geraldton they seem to think a lunch size plate is called tapas, not an actual type or style of food. <br/>Tried to order the wine I wanted - all out. <br/>Every cocktail I tried to order we were told they were all out. <br/>Pizzas arrived after 40 minutes, plonked down in front of us with a starter knife and no fork. Pizzas were OK but as another reviewer stated, toppings just placed on, not prepared for use as pizza toppings. Served on a freezing cold plate so by the time I was on the 3rd slice, the pizza was stone cold. <br/>Beer of the month hasn't changed in 8 months, but we went with that as it was nice, little creatures. $10 a pint. <br/>We did well, compared to the poor women across from us, who were handed their tapas (fish and chips!!) by the waiter to eat out off their knees as they have removed lots of the tables. I guess in this instance it helped the plates were probably freezing! <br/>Seems to want to be a cool, bar hang out place but staff were quite rude to us so really wouldn't feel comfortable hanging out. . <br/>Over-rated by the local "cool" crowd who are just grateful for somewhere to wear designer clothes and air kiss your friends.

Looks are deceiving. I read great reviews about this place so was surprised that I found our experience less than ordinary. My cocktail that I ordered when we first sat down finally came after we had all finished our meal and were ready to leave. The pizzas were ok but nothing special. And when we got our bill, they had charged us for 3 extra meals. The place looks great and inviting and their pizza oven is a real feature. But overall, our experience here was really poor and I will not eat here again

Cool place!. We stopped by for the happy hour and got a pint of White Rabbit for $7 - AWESOME! the place has a great atmosphere, and the staff are really friendly. A little bit of Melbourne in Geraldton

What the hell is a place this cool doing in Gero? Serving good nosh, honest drinks for reasonable dosh. That's what. With jaw droppingly good coffee to boot.<br/>Affable, efficient service, amazing drink selection (White Rabbit on tap. Yay!) Excellent alfresco (put it to the test oh) area where you can warm yo asses by the wood pizza oven. Squeaky clean amenities. And staff who evidently actually take pride in their craft. Oh, and with a Manageress so cool I was jealous of her kids. Very pleasant stumbleupon.

Only decent place in Gero.. nice edgy urban vibe and good food.. recommend the chocolate tart for dessert. Ended up coming here thrice in our 2 day stay.

Simply sensational!. We changed the time and nearly doubled the number of guests for our corporate dinner, neither of which affected the exceptionally high level of customer service nor the outstanding quality of the food. The menu was mouthwatering and all 30 diners were highly impressed. We can only wish for a sister restaurant in Perth. "Thank God" for the Provincial!!!

Crab pasta was fabulous. The pizzas were a bit clumsy with toppings cut far too large (chorizo was not crispy or rendered down, too much melted mozzarella and toppings resulting in a soggy base). Service was excellent. Stick with the mains, not pizza and you'll be wrapped.

Have eaten here several times now and it has maintained a high standard. Food quality is gods and fresh and service prompt. Angel hair pasta is always a good choice and the oven fired pizzas excellent. An 8/10 for this cool cafe wine bar.

The ambience of the place is fantastic. A pity it is let down by the sub-standard overpriced food. Prawn hotpot with garlic and chilli sounded inviting. What turned up were a few rubbery prawns swimming in a small pot filled three-quarters with olive oil...DISGUSTING! Absolutely no love put into this dish. The garlic wasn't even fresh; minced straight from the jar. At around $25 for this joke dish, they ought to be ashamed.

The BEST thing about Geraldton. What an unexpected find!<br/>Food and wine selection were exemplary. Staff were delightful and quite knowledgeable about the wine. We were so impressed that we simply had to go back again and again and...<br/>We had steaks which were huge and fabulously cooked. The crab linguine was delicious but could have been a little more spicy. The pizzas were exciting and it was great to be able to 'make your own' if you didn't like the combinations available. The rocket and parmesan salad was fresh and tasty.<br/>Our only criticism was that the chocolate crème brulee was more like chocolate mousse- but it was delicious.

Delicious!. What a surprise The Provincial is! Funky decore, good music and delicious food. I had the angel hair pasta with crab. It was superb.

Best eating place in Geraldton. It's been the second time I have eaten at The Provincial and on both occassions have immensely enjoyed my meal. This time I thought I would take the time to write a brief review. <br/><br/>I ordered the Snapper Fillet and my boss ordered the Steak and both were superbly cooked and presented. The waitperson actually had an idea about the wines and the service was impeccable - friendly and zero pretension. <br/><br/>The actual place is very urban and bistroesque, you would think you're eating in a bistro somewhere in Melbourne and not a rural city like Geraldton. <br/><br/>I look forward to coming up on business everytime I'm in Geraldton.
