Review Werri Beach Fish Shop - Gerringong

What food we tried almost like deep fried seafood that I expected could have been better than that time. But all good, we were full bc the portions were good enough. Sat outside and had our lunch while watching people (perhaps locals?) walking on the footpath were nice.

Fast service, big serving of delicious chips and barramundi. I had some to share with the cute magpies who will come if you hold out a piece of food. Some magpies want you to throw it for them, 2 will take from your hand when invited. They will sit and look at you until you offer, not aggressive. (I think they have plenty of food!) Nice variety of outdoor seating. Across the road from the beach and parking. (There are cushioned benches to wait inside if you wish)

I have tried to restrain from giving negative reviews as I understand it can ruin a business but the fish and chips I had today ranks as the worst I have ever had. I perhaps should have gone back and complained but it was a 5 min walk and complaining in front of a lunchtime crowd may not have helped either. The chips were quite good but the fish was inedible. It was supposed to be flathead but the batter was like a cake and the fish got lost somewhere in amongst it. I couldn't find it. It tasted so horrible. I just couldn't eat it. The calamari was overcooked and stringy. The salad consisted of lettuce and avocado. With one soft drink it cost $40. I hope the owners read this and make changes or they won't last. The photos show the batter and the fish is in there somewhere.

Great little gemstone in Werri Beach! Come across this store by chance on our short getaway and I must say I really enjoy the food! I am a big fan of fish and chips so we ordered a variety, battered flathead, calamari, prawn cutlet, chicken nuggets, salad and chips and they did not disappoint. Tasty, crunchy and perfect seasoning. Will definitely come back to this joint!!

DO NOT EAT HERE! I have been visiting this establishment for many years, but since the new owners took control last year, they have completely destroyed what was once a great fish & chip shop. The food is now incredibly overpriced and has drastically decreased in quality. No salt on the chips (despite specifically asking for it twice) and the seafood sticks were totally tasteless and undercooked. Please spend your money anywhere else, just don't spend it here. This shop is a DISGRACE!

Super friendly and attentive service. I really enjoyed the food. Hot, crispy and perfectly salted. Highly recommend the calamari and the chips are to die for!

I have heard the shop has recently come under new management. Ordered various fish, calamari and chips for the family. Chips were very good, fish was also nice no problems family enjoyed it would come here again

Works burger among the best I have had. $11 here compared to $20in the main street. Staff friendly would recommend for those seeking a good feed
