Review Oriental Star - Gladesville

Food was ok nothing special in the food that we ordered. Its along the busy road victoria in gladesville but there are public parking in closeby coles or side streets.

Had number of times their sweet and sour pork. Delish. Good Chinese food, not cheap but I think affordable for the quality u get. Super fast too. Support ur local businesses thru this tough time, order takeaway. Honey prawn, sweet and sour pork, salt and pepper squid, fried rice, all delish I promise

The Lunch Special is good but sadly this Restaurant changed Ownership a few years ago, and the current Maitre D is a real piece of work; she's rude, displays indifference & can't be relied on for making you feel the least bit welcome there. I won't be surprised if she gets your order wrong as well. It is also a frequently "empty" looking restaurant - which is never a good sign if you're up for a good quality meal or any type of friendly service; they certainly must rely on Takeaway orders, because of this.

Excellent meal, very friendly service, got takeaway and it was hot and fresh, to the lady arguing over the $2 in the comments below, if you can spend over $100/week on takeout you can probably afford the $2 spring rolls. No food poisoning (and i ate the left overs the next day). Highly recommend, Support local!!

I feel terrible leaving this review as I have been a customer for over 10 years. My recent order left my family and I with severe food poisoning. I know that the food was the cause as it was the only food that we all ate as a family at the same time. Half of my family had been on holiday’s the days prior and when they arrived home we ate the Chinese together, only to wake thru the night vomiting , and well into the next day. The kids had to stay home from school and my husband and I could not work. The hygiene of this restaurant has declined as well as the quality. Eat at own risk.

Delivered earlier than advised, very tasty and fresh chicken satay. Will definitely order again

What a find. Definitely the best restaurant in the area for home delivery Chinese. Tasty, fresh and generous portions.

Got some great take away from here recently. The staff were nice and the quality of the food was great. It is my go to reliable Chinese take away in Gladesville.

Food is Ok, but the Lady that works the lunch shift needs some serious training in more hospitable customer service ability.

OK, this restaurant is obvious a family-friendly business, but even so do they even care about looking after their customers ? Even more so for dine-in ones ?

The food is so delicious that I have to write about it!! Good job if they ever see this. The food was cooked to perfection and the service was fabulous! I was so surprised, but proud that two young girls could do there job so well. I love to go here and I would recommend this to anyone!!

My vegetarian fried rice has arrived only with peas! And spring rolls that have ALWAYS been vegetarian arrived with minced meat! You serious? We have ordered many times before and never had an issue. Vegetarian rice always used to come with lot of veggies. This was just horrible dry rice with peas I didn't touch. When I called up the woman said that we didn't order properly, so of course it's our fault. Well maybe if this was the first time we ordered I would understand, but we always seemed to order it right before!? If you have 2 types of spring rolls maybe the person on the phone should ask which one u want, not just assume... The same goes with the vegetarian rice. Not happy, this has really ruined our evening.

Best Food Ever. Me and my family ordered from here and the food was delicious. It arrived very quickly and was still very hot. Would definitely recommend to my friends.

Love It!. My husband and I are locals and haven't eaten in, we order home delivery. The staff are always friendly, the food's great & the free spring rolls when you spend a certain amount are divine. One of the nicest Chinese restaurants in the area.

If you happen to enjoy disgustingly oily food, with lots of additives then you will enjoy this place. Would never return.

Lauren. I have eaten at Oriental Star on a number of occasions as well as take away. The food is cheap there is plenty of it and it tastes great. Also great service.

Just Right!. We recently organised a school parent's dinner here and all 28 of us had a great night! It was just right - the food was plentiful and yummy and good variety with the banquet we chose, the restaurant was clean and tastefully renovated recently, the service was friendly and accommodating with nothing too hard and all very reasonably priced with lots of parking close by. A great find in Gladesville and we will be back to enjoy another great meal! Thanks to Lena and her wonderful staff for making our function "just right!"

Pleasantly surprised. I'd read a couple of 'average' reviews online but was pleasantly surprised by the positive experience. The food was great and the service very good. We have a family of 5 and didn't have to wait too long for the food to be served. We'll definitely be going again.

Karen. My family booked for 20 seats on last Friday at Oriental Star for my 30th birthday. First, I felt the atmosphere was very pleasant with the beautiful songs and lighting in the restaurant. My parents ordered two dishes each of pork san cha bau, honey king prawns, mongolian lamb, and other dishes. What I can say the food was fresh, hot and yummy. All my family members and friends like the food. The waiter and waitress were very friendly. I would recomend to this restaurant to others.

Great addition to Gladesville. My husband and I dined here last night...the atmosphere is clean-lined modern, although slightly too brightly lit; the service warm, personal and attentive; the food delicious. The proprietor is very personable and after been open for just over 2 weeks, he prides himself on having 'regulars' with whom is is on first name terms.
The menu includes the oldtime standards from Spring Rolls and San Choy Bow to Chow Mein dishes and Fried Ice Cream, but there are many other very tastey dishes such as Rainbow Steak, with an emphasis on dishes from Eastern China. Although a chinese staple, the Bean Curd and Crab Meta Soup was delicious.
Prices are VERY reasonable and a nice touch was the complimentary decoratively-presented fresh orange served with fortune cookies.

An added enticement is that there is no charge for BYO.

Miki. This place has just open for around 2 weeks, things are still changing around. Now there is handrail for the ramp; seats and magazine for people waiting to pick up their food. Keep up the good work.
The prawns are nice. I like the rainbow steak and peking pork chop. The waiting staffs are very friendly.
certainly highly recommend.

It starts with the bizarre mood destroying fluro lighting and goes steeply downhill from there. Special fried rice not at all special and a satay dish that had a terrible aftertaste that lasted the rest of the night. I don't know what flavor enhancers they're using but don't feed to any kiddies that's for sure. On the evening we went they didn't take cards either and didn't inform of this until we went to pay - maybe fixed now but us locals will not ever be returning to find out!

We only had to wait an hour and 45 minutes for our home delivery. That's after making 2 phone calls. My expections were low but the food wasn't that bad. A pity the service let them down. I would rather go hungry than eat from here again.
