Review Red Spoon - Gladesville

Delicious! Must have changed hands as menu is completly different to before. I miss the old Duck Red curry served in the half pineapple. But it was still very very tasty! Great place for kids. Called and tried to book, advised they don't take bookings. Then arrived..and was asked if we had a booking. Very strange!

I’m very contradicting when leaving this review. The service is great. Staff are very attentive. Restaurant itself is very clean with an open plan kitchen. The dishes are very well presented. However they in general taste very sweet. I’m not sure if they have been tailored to western taste. The pad Thai taste like sweet rice noodle with meat lol we were so confused when eating it. To make it sweeter, the chef has left some additional sugar on the side 🤣 Oh my… authentic Thai food aren’t so sweet. We had 3 savoury dishes altogether and left feeling we had a full meal of sweetness. Please do something to change the seasoning. The rest of this restaurant are great.

Ordered off ubereats, very disappointed with the portion size for the expensive price. Half the container of papaya salad was filled with lettuce that had dirt in it, and the chicken skewers were about 3cm small. Not worth your money. If you give customers stingy servings for what they're paying they won't come back.

The food was good. The service was really bad. We had a booking at 6:45 & we stood in line for 30minutes watching the staff. 70% of the tables were empty. The massaman curry was very tough. We had to ask for a knife. The alcohol was premium price. You’d think they would have a reasonably priced bottle.

Disappointed with the food . No taste , chicken in green curry tastes like boiled chicken has been put in pre cooked curry and don’t ask about the chicken on the stick. To Top it up chef was buy eating as he was cooking.

Friendly staff, good restaurant atmosphere. Unfortunately the food portions, whilst nicely presented, were quite small for the price, and both dishes were extremely spicy. Photo 3 is the amount of chili put on the side of the pad Thai, thankfully removed before mixing! Went here after they reopened and revamped the decor. Probably won't be going back in a rush. You can get similar quality food for half the price at nearby restaurants.

It was a very good restaurant 1 and half ago. Food was good and price is also good. Last weekend our family had a dinner there and found the menu was changed. I asked if the owner was changed, but the staff told me it was not. But the food is not as good as before. One of the rice noodle was too sweet and add a lot of white sugar on it. And they did not accept the gov voucher. We loved to have dinner there before, but after last weekend dinner, I won’t go there anymore.

Nice enough food and service. Nothing particularly stand out or spectacular though. Unfortunately the mains started arriving while we were half way through our starters, even after we discussed having our mains delivered once entrees were complete. Further, all the mains were delivered at different times, rather than all at once, which is much less than ideal. I would be back if I was in the area and I feel like Thai, I won’t be going out of my way to go back though.

SO disappointed - have been eating hear on and off for the best part of 10 years. Very different now to where they started. Tonight ordered Duck Rolls only to be told for the 3rd visit in a row that they're not on the menu today - fair enough, so take them off the menu permanently if you're not going to offer them! Settled on chicken satay skewers, no problems here. Then ordered a Tom Yum soup with prawn. Oh Dear, what a let-down. I'm no Thai cooking guru but I know the flavours I expect from a good Tom Yum - this was SO far off it wasn't funny - no sour, no heat and the prawns (all 3 of them) were FROZEN.
Very quietly and respectfully we sent the Tom Yum back and continued with a very lack-lustre Stir Fried Chilli Chicken with Basil - to sum this one up in one word: BLAND.
Said nothing about this one and went up to pay the bill - here's the kicker, the lady who I spoke to about the Tom Yum tried to charge for it - only when I questioned was it reluctantly removed.
Learnt my lesson RedSpoon Gladesville - won't be back.....

This restaurant used to be a very reliable place to get great Thai food. Unfortunately our last experience was so bad we will not be returning. They ran out of the first 3 choices we made when ordering, they brought our entree 35 minutes after we ordered and forgot half the order which we then waited another 10 minutes for, they forgot the sauce on one dish which was sent back and even common dishes, such as crying tiger had no flavour. Do not waste your time or money at this restaurant.
I like this thai, sometimes the size varies of meals. A little bit more fancy than the other thai shops near by. The staff are friendly, though have made a mistake a few times doing orders over the phone. Overall I do enjoy eating here and will eat again.

One of the worst Thai food I have had in ages. Steamed fish and salmon special both had chewy fish... No freshness and no flavour. Steamed fish was like a day old. No flavours ours in vegetarian stir fry as well.

We went there for lunch on saturday, restaurant was empty, we asked to change the table to have another one having a back rest instead of stools as I had lower spine disc issue, but the lady (see attached photo) started arguing rudely and said "you will be here for a short while only so you should be ok on this table". I politely said I have back issue so need back support, cant sit on a stool. She rudely siad "ok go there", then started banging the cutlery. she gave food like she was throwing in front of me. for the whole time she continued to be rude again n again.
Most disgusting & egoist staff I have ever seen in a thai restaurant.

It’s not the best thai around, but it’ll do. Tried the panang curry, cashew nut stir fry, roti, crispy soft shell crab with papaya salad. Advise against ordering the roti, especially if it’s a delivery/takeaway. It was pretty bad. The curry was too bland coz it was watered down, but the stir fry was nice. I think the crab was fried for too long but it is a good combo with the papaya salad.

Really yummy Thai not too far from our work. Will normally go for a laksa or green curry. It's always consistent and really fresh. Really friend service too

There is a variety in the menu ... but it concurrently suffers in its fat and oil content; it certainly does not last long (as a takeaway) in the fridge. The staff are friendly and mean well, but ultimately their comprehension of English is very "basic".

Rubbish. Looks posh
Tastes
like lame peasant food (some peasant food is very nice mind you).
Overpriced and very average thai food.
Refused to honour entertainment card (informed by staff this was not the first time this had happened - so make sure you check before you order). Had to call and complain to the entertainment book people who apologised on their behalf and gave us a voucher to a much nicer thai restaurant.

Red spooning gladesville. Very disappointed .. The most expensive in the area that we have tried ...did not seem fresh couldn't eat the dinner we ordered

Redspoon Thai is slightly posh Thai with two stores in Ryde and Gladesville. There's a lot of competition with Thai in Gladesville but Redspoon is one of the higher ranked Thai places. It's 72% like rate is probably slightly too generous. I think it's popular because it's clean, good customer service and the decore is nice. I would prefer some of my other locals such as Thai Curry in West Ryde. The Curry Puffs (below) were $6.90 were crispy and filled with vegetables. They were solid but nothing special but exactly what I was looking for. Something crunchy to start the meal with. The Pork Spare Ribs ($22.90) were cut up and piled up among radish-ed vegetables. If you are looking for a substantial meat dish then do not order this dish. I would suggest sticking to some of the other dishes. I ordered the flat rice noodles with chili and basil with chicken ($15.90). There were generous amounts of basil. Everything else was well cooked. Nothing too amazing. Overall the customer service was good, decore was good. Food was good but nothing too amazing. Price: $20-$25 per head Location: 198 Victoria Rd, Gladesville

A popular restaurant with stylish decor and well-presented food which was fresh and tasty served by attentive and friendly staff. I'd be keen to try a few other things on the menu I spotted like the Salt and Pepper Squid, Beef Salad, Duck Salad and Grille

It's always nice when you walk into a restaurant with no expectations at all, just looking to fill your stomach, just cause there aren't many options... just cause, and then you are pleasantly surprised when the restaurant delivers. Really delivers. This

Amazing!. Came here for a Friday night dinner...it was absolutely amazing! The service was so good, the waitresses were eager to serve us and were extremely friendly. The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant 100%!

Don't waste your time!. I visited Red Spoon last Saturday with three friends for a 6:30 booking. Having been to the Top Ryde one in the past, and being very impressed by it, we decided to try out the Gladesville restaurant for just this night. Food was average at best, but it was the poor service that really got to us. The unapologetic waitress gave us the wrong dishes TWICE, and throughout the duration of the meal we were constantly asked if we were finished eating yet, when clearly we weren't.

By the time 7:30 came around, it was desert time... Or so we thought. As one waitress handed us a desert menu, another came over and notified us that our reservation had finished and that we had to leave. Surely if we had the courtesy of making a booking and had NO prior warning that our reservation had an expiry time, we should be entitled to stay as long as we want?

Food was average, staff were rude. Don't wast your time.

Bad lunchtime experience. Ordered take away and was very disappointed. Frozen gone wrong. Threw the meal away. Won't ever go back. Shame because our dinner experience is usually good.

As soon as we arrived the waitress was rude wouldn't listen to our order brought us the wrong food and the chicken was still half raw. She tried to argue that it was cooked which clearly it wasn't and we had to ask continuously to please replace it!!! Never ever going back and will never recommend.

Went here last night. It looked really nice from the outside. I think they have tried to put to many tables in that space.
We sat down to order and had to wait a good 10 mins for a drink. The food was really nice and fresh, but my partners main dish they got wrong twice. Thats right twice. The waitress we had was nice but only understood basic English. Overall it was nice food and good quality food. Good for dinner but not for a special night out. 6 out of 10 from me.

DO NOT EAT HERE EVER. Please, please, please don't eat here. Last time I ordered the soft shell crab salad as a main and got half a plate full of soft shell crab. This this i didn't even get a mouth full, and what's worse the damn staff justify their terrible service. Obviously in this place, the customer is wrong.

The banquets/set menus are fantastic and are big portioned. Cinnamon duck is a must try.

Terrible. Just so overrated and ordinary. I had the worst Penang curry known to man, it was completely flavorless and watered down. All over priced. Very dark and Ho hum atmosphere, poor seating and seating arrangements. Not going back.

I love the ambience and their service.

Some of the best lamb shanks going around.

I cannot recommend this restaurant. We went with special vouchers that covered the main course. There were three of us and one main meal arrived twenty minutes after the other two. Then it was so cold, it had to be returned and reheated. Finally we were charged $25 for a tiny bowl of boiled rice and an even smaller one of steamed vegetables. BEWARE!

Red Spoon @Castle Hill. Food is below average and is definitely not worth the price. Staff were rude and could not understand fluent English when taking our order. Once more, they charged us for something we did not order and not to mention mislead us about the price for extra prawns to be added to a dish. I would recommend checking your bill before eating at this restaurant (if you must eat there that is). Will never go back there again!

Some of the food was v.good but service was poor. Asked for the coke to be changed as it was completely flat, only to get another one which again was flat. Starter of satay chicken was a bit average, but the slow cooked Massaman Beef was delicious.

Castle Hill Red Spoon...... We had the wrong main come to the table. They forgot one main altogether. When we complained, the waiter said she did not believe us. Manager can not speak English. Would not be in a rush to return. Bad experience.

I am a chef and this is my most fav place to eat in the whole of Sydney. I love it soooooo much, never had a bad meal.

Very bad experience. Great food was ruined by a very bad experience. We noticed that the chair we were sitting on was broken so we informed the manager who told us there was nothing wrong with it. So we ordered our food and half way through the main, the chair leg broke and the wait of the entire stool fell on my sisters ankle. They then moved us which took 5 minutes so we ate cold food, and were expected to pay full price for the privilege. This would be a difficult situation for them but their handling of it and lack of compassion means we won't be going back.

Yum spoon thai. This is one of my fave restaurants in the area. Food is always fresh and portions are generous. The prices are reasonable. I have been there a few times, and the massaman curry is by far the best I've tasted. They also make a tangy tom yum soup. Service is always friendly and courteous and I love the dark decor. An excellent place for the casual weekday meal or a weekend celebration. The place is always busy so book early.

Just opened in castle hill. Beautiful food, large portions and great presentation!

Very reasonably priced and good food. Goodlunch specials. Noticed that plates being picked up from tables after a meal are empty, means food is good and portions generous. I recommend the restaurant.
