Review Quality - Glen Huntly

Rajesh Belani (CHILE)
{A} Upsides:- 1] Great Variety of Indian Stuff; probably the largest in MELBOURNE City Side. 2]] Convenient Location as lots of 1Hr Street Parking available on the same Road. =========================Downsides:- 1] Prices NOT clearly marked; one is so overwhelmed with the variety that one does not realize the ACTUAL DAMAGES to your pockets till you are BILLED at the Entry/Exit 2] Short Staffed Business so one needs to queque up atleast 5-7 Minutes till it is your turn to pay and then one needs to be QUICK to pick and choose the Items one really NEEDS to buy at the Payment Counter! ========================= *C} > SUGGESTION:- 4-5 Units of Price-Checking Machines installed with VISIBLE SIGNAGE :: WOULD BE A GREAT HELP for New Customers Overall: A SATISFACTORY 1st Visit!

Very good Indian Grocery store with almost all the items s available in 2 or 3 different brands. They try to display the prices of all items but still that area could be improved

I’m a regular customer for this authentic Indian Groceries Store,Glen Huntley, one of the biggest outlet in south eastern suburbs of Melbourne,.I hv visited the Store in last Dec’19 ever since that time I couldn’t write a review as I was busy attending other work. Best Indian grocery store in Melbourne. Also they have a cute cafe of Indian eateries. Taste is also good 5/5 ambience 5/5 Totally recommend this store to everyone ♥️♥️

Kesar mangoes from quality groceries. Rip off for a $75 box of rotten mangoes.

We always land up coming here for a bite after an extensive Indian grocery shopping (as if that wasn’t enough :D ) This place serves a variety of Indian dishes and snacks along with Indian sweets and drinks. They recently started a fresh sugarcane counter which we yet have to check out! The Jumping Dumplings recommend: •Paneer Parantha - Fresh grated masala paneer in a thick roti and served with curd, pickle and butter..YUM. •Chole Bhature - You get a large sized Bhature and served with Chana Masala (and not the typical Chole), still a winning dish. •Masala Dosa - Another classic, but sometimes the potato filling inside is a little raw to eat. •Vada Sambar - Not amazing , but very decent. Snacks you must try - Bread pakoda and Samosa Drinks - Mango lassi, filter coffee and masala chai. On a couple of occasions the tea and coffee was really lukewarm, but when you ask them they will heat it for you. :)

Food average. service terrible.

Conveniently located with the quality Indian grocery on the glen Huntley road, this is a quick grab place of tasteless fast food. The food is fresh, no doubt there and looks good. But taste of anything you purchase is like fried flour. The place is loud and noisy from the inside kitchen to a television blaring above your head. The kitchen hands shouting and calling out every minute. It is a visit place to pick some grocery.

Actual Rating: 3.5

I was in the Glen Huntly area and decided to try this place which seems to be in addition to a Grocery store with the same name. Walked in and the place although looked clean needed more attention from the staff as it was unkempt. At 4 pm on a Sunday they were already out of a few things which wasn't pleasant as they close at 9 pm, some of these items were Chole Bhaturey, and a number of Snack items. Decided on the Poori with Potato and the server up sold an extra poori to me which in hindsight was not needed. The flavor of the potato curry provided was very good although the poori's were full of oil as per the pic. Needed some more care and time when they were taken out of oil. In addition, there was no other side items like Pickles or Onions provided with the meal which made it feel really uni-dimensional and bland. I also ordered a Samosa & Paneer Butter Masala Curry for takeaway. I have to admit both of these were pretty spot on. The samosa was one of the best that i have had outside of India and when it was combined with the Sweet & Tangy Tamarind Chutney that was provided with it, it just was amazing. The curry was pretty good as well and had shavings of Cashews in it which provided a nice overall texture to the curry.

Decently priced , love their samosas and bread pakoda. Their Thali is a well spread one is worth a try if you're famished. Some of the elements could have been more authentic

I like to grab lunch here when I miss home food. The service is below average but the food is decent.

They can do lots better but I feel they are not interested in picking up their game. The staff is lack lustre and lazy!
Tomlovestoeat
The Thali here is bloody awesome! All vegetarian too, which I don’t usually go for. The curries that come with the thali are always bursting with flavour although a touch greasy at times. The only fault I can find with the food is the temperature, turn up the Bain-Marie for the love of god!
Nikki
High priced for the quality of food served. Food was served cold, bland and no flavour. The cutlery was plastic and the cleanliness was of a poor level.
Wouldn't recommend for quick takeaway.

Quality Indian groceries and cafe, GlenHuntly , cuisine - Indian. This cafe is attached to one of the oldest and best sourced indian grocery stores in Melbourne. They serve South Indian inspired dishes along with a wide variety of fresh Indian sweets and snacks like samosas etc. the taste is very authentic and a good option for a quick bite or catering for an event. The South Indian thali is quite flavorful and ofcourse too big for me to finish! It's one of the good ones for sure... go there to try the dosa (Indian savory crepes)... I can eat them anyday 😊. @qualityindiangrocery #rating3.5 #southindianthali #dosas #foodblogger #instablogger #melbourneblogger #vegbourne #lovefoodlivefood #glenhuntly #groceries

Food was not bad at this place but the ambience was worst and the staff don't even care you.
Wasn't a very good experience at this place. should think before going.

Good place to eat and value for money. Ordered weekend thali and along with some snacks. Every single curry is tasty and variation of North Indian and south indian curry at it best.

Very unhappy with the sweets that we ordered. We ordered for Gulab Jamun on sunday. Though we could see that only a few pieces were left in the tray , we still decided to go ahead thinking they would be good. However to our disappointment , the gulab jamun was toooo dry . The sweet syrup shachani outside the jamun was sweet but the jamun by itself had no taste. It was such a waste of money as we had to throw the rest. We had also ordered filter coffee and that wasn't any good either . We shall not be ordering any more sweets from here any more.

Been there few times good food with low prices, highly recommended for vegetarians. Had samosa pav and dahi bhalla it tastes quite close what you get back in India.

Really authentic vegetarian Indian food. No frills is the key here. Thalis are great value and very delicious. No issues with staff, but don't expect 5 star service. If the owner would spend some money on the fit out they would have a thriving Indian vegetarian restaurant. Not a great choice for date night or trying to impress. Still great value and great food. Mango lassi can be skipped (they must use fake mango syrup or something). Also the chai masala was ok but didn't have any sweetener, something I am not used to.

A great South Indian joint ! You get great Dosas and the chutney is infact the best I had Melbourne ! The ambience is not so great since the restaurant is designed like a take away place and combined along with a Grocery store. Prices are reasonable as well ! Nothing much to complain
Olive&Merlot
I'm not impressed with the food ... When I saw the deli .. I saw plenty sweets ... I took almost all sweets as one a piece ... I feel nothing was fresh ... I felt soo bad ... But tiffins was okay .. Not so bad

Hi
This glen Huntly based Indian cafe is one of my favourite spot to have breakfast, the front of house girl named Shruti is really friendly and quick. She never misses a detail and chef named Rohit is best prantha maker in town. Average price and amazing snacks.

The mango lassi is really good but the gulab jamun that we ordered is way too sweet. I know it is a sweet dish and is supposed to be sweet, but it's not the tasty sweet having that I love gulab Jamuns and have tried in so many places. I might return to try their thalis.
Alex
Everything there is kinda good, but south indian food is really amazing. I am a big fan of their chole bhature and pav bhaji. Have tried the sweets there couple of times and every time I had been given not so fresh ones, when I went back to complain, they apologised and simply gave me the money back.
Gaurav09005
Everything you try has it's own taste and so far the taste has been good.....
Let it be thali, pav bhaji, samosa, vada etc..... And yes chai is too good.... ☺

The thali plate never disappoints and a good range of lassis. The bland and spartan decor is part of the overall charm. With a comprehensive adjoining Indian supermarket.
An ongoing local favourite.

After a long time, found on a good south indian thali restaurant. nothing fancy here but you fell good after eating... really value for money.
The dosa is also good but sambar and chattni are not consistent. Some days awesome.. some days a bit salty..
even like the samosa (hard to beat sweet india from west, but still)
hey still very nice place to have ur dinner and indian grocery shopping...
Jerrin Mathew
Good South Indian food...reasonable price....Do try their Thali, which has a good variety of curries....Dosa's are awesome...only downside is that this place lacks dine-in ambience....definitely worth a visit if you are interested in trying out authentic Indian food...

Loved the masala dosa and curry set. Samosas are also pretty damn good. This place has no frills, just straight up good food at reasonable prices.
LifeForFood
It’s a little Indian restaurant and takeaway with reasonable price for all the items. Quality of food is what you pay for, so keep your expectations accordingly.
Ambience is neat and clean. Service is better than most Indian restaurants. If you order food over phone, allow 10mins after you reach to pickup because they won’t pack your order until you turn up.

Best food and Good service. Been to this cafe today. The service was excellent along with food. I would say the weekend Thali is the best in entire Melbourne, and I also had Jalebi which was very fresh and delicious.

Quality Cafe. Been here several times because of the variety the cafe has specially snacks and sweets. The service is also good with affordable prices.South Indian's should definitely try items such as mirchi bajji, masala dosa , onion masala dosa. I have also tried roti's they are deliciously soft.

Poor service. Last week I had been to the cafe to collect some snacks , and thali , and dosa, they took the order and forget it, I was waiting for more then half an hour , the boy was busy talking with other customer but didn't bothered to ask me .
My day and my lunch was all bad , and at last explaining that the kitchen forget it .
Great people , high standard words but poor and misbehaviour staff .
Won't feel to be there .

Duplicate cachori. I Hv been to the cafe 3-4 time good and Bad. Bought some Dal CACHORI the feeling inside is totally rubbish not what a tradition Dish should Hv. Few weeks ago bought some SAMBER Tasty but way too expensive, I said to the rude male owner it's a small serve and $10 he replayed up to you if you want to buy or not...... That's not Hospitality
NEVER GOING BACK
Aussie Nawaab
Had the dosa and rabdi. Both were above average n i wouldnt mind buying these again. The pakodas are too doughy and I just couldnt eat them. Threw em out. Especially the chilli bhaji. Pao bhaji is nice. I love eating that as it's different from the other pao bhajis u get.

About cafe. Hi I would like to share some good and bad about this cafe , I have been visiting from the time it has been opened honestly saying very friendly staff but I was shocked by the last visit I had the guys on the counter seems to have no food knowledge , they were not able to reply me any of my question regarding food, even they didn't bordered to call the chef and so I can talk.
Telling through the bottom of my heart food is excellent but need to trained the staff please.
I will be back to have such a excellent food but if i don't get to know what is in it, it's hard .
Quality means through all way ...

Best Indian In town. Hands down the best veg Indian food I have had. The dosa is a knockout and the paneer curry is out of this world. I went once and have been almost weekly since. Staff are very friendly and clearly proud of the food they serve. It's a humble lay out and is not the fastest to come out, BUT you know they put love into every dish and the presentation is A+. I recommend the gastronomic delight that is quality cafe to any fellow food lover.

Friendly staff and the best Mysore Masala Dosa in Melbourne

Quality with great value. Went down to Quality cafe the other day with the wife and kids. We decided to go for something different, I went for the plain dosa which was served with sambar and chutney. My wife ordered the chole batura, and the kids shared a plate of idly (also served with sambar and chutney). Everything was delicious, not too spicy and the flavours left us wanting more. Will definitely be coming back!
JB
Disappointment. Gave this restaurant two attempts but failed to live up to " quality" food. Very amateur preparations of meals and things like vada sambar and masala dosa was stale and burnt with soupy ( sambar) accompaniments.
