The best indonesian food you can find in Melbourne! I'm Indonesian and I can't even find food of this quality in Indonesia. Nothing beats the Lontong Sayur and Rendang from here, definitely must try.

If you are Muslim dont go there. The lady that works there lied and said it was Halal but it is NOT HALAL. The owner told us it was not. We did not appreciate the shifty and rude lies from the lady.

An absolute gem of a restaurant! Best Indo food Iā€™ve had in Melbourne, love the beef rendang, eggplant & fresh sambal. Chilli potatoes are the bomb. The staff are so lovely as well. A must if youā€™re in the area!

I love this place. It may not look like much but it tastes so good. The eggplant and tender beef rendang are my absolute favourites. I always ask for their home made chilli. It is so so good

When Indosari reopened its doors 2 years ago, we all cheered for the return of good home cooked Indonesian food. Generous serving size at reasonable prices, this was a local favourite.

Whilst the quality of food had remained the same since its return and I must commend the chefs at Indosari, it is rather disappointing to see prices increase year on year and portion diminishing. I had just visited the restaurant since they came back from their Xmas break and there is a new price list. An average of 15-20% increase!

To all restaurants out there, I understand inflations and cost of goods and blah blah but dont be greedy if you wanna be sustainable.

Another hidden gem for authentic Indonesia food located at Glen Huntly. This place had being long establish and served amazing Indonesian food.

The beef rendang is a must try. Their chilli fish, curry chicken and jack fruit meals are just amazing.
Used to eat lunch here religiously when I was working in Glen Huntly.

I'd give it 6 stars if I could. My favourites were the fried chicken, fried potatoes, jackfruit curry and eggplant.

Not the most inviting exterior howeverĀ when I entered the smallish Indonesian restaurant, I was quite surprised. They were really busy serving the lunchtime trade who were obviously attracted by the cheap and cheerful fare. There is no menu and no description of the dishes that are presentedĀ in a bain-marie. I had expected more flavour however that was probably my choice also the food was warm, not hot which is preferable!

Another very good Indonesian restaurant that we just discovered recently. Bain Marie style with a la cartel as well. Yellow rice with beef rendang, fish and seafood tofu. Yum!!

Indosari is a cute little place situated on Glen Huntly Road. It is bustling behind the counter with several staff members cooking up dishes. You canā€™t go wrong with a $7.00 large size lunch special. Rice, meat, and vegetables were plentiful. Bain Marie food was rather cold, rice was warm. Service was instant. May try again in the near future but probably a different dish.

Good cheap food at a killer price point. Seriously can't go wrong with food of this quality at this price. Great place and highly recommended.

I have been eating here for years and years and adore the food. It's tasty food that is great value for money. The best dishes are the vegetarian ones. Highly recommended!!

First Indonesian experience in Melbourne - it was ok, weā€™ve had better. A small eatery, no frills. Large portions but quite salty for my liking. Ordered another portion of rice but that costed $5! No rush to come back....lots of msg in the food leaving you constantly thirsty the whole day.

Ceap and amazing! I took away 2 small containers from that already ready for eat at the counter. The taste was nice and we two were full with $8.

This place has the best beef dish in Melbourne. Pretty strong statement? Nope. Absolutely not! I mean if you are a fan of Malaysian curries and Indonesian authentic food then this is the place to be. The only downside is the sitting arrangement. Could be improved, like a lot! But itā€™s food Iā€™m after, not location or sitting.

The only reason I can think of this place not rated 4+ is because people are so satisfied with their meal they forget to rate it. They closed the place once and look how many people took that step to actually come here and comment. Also not reminding customers to comment by the meal servers could be contributing factor.

One of my favourite little eateries in Melbourne. Amazing food, probably one of Melbournes best cheap eats. My partner and I always travel in the opposite direction after work just to eat here - perfect place to go when you just can't be bothered cooking but feel like something homemade. Thanks for all the wonderful dinners, Indosari šŸ˜Š

This place is my go to for a quick and satisfying fix of some of the best Indonesian food and all at such a reasonable price. My favourites are beef rendang, jackfruit curry, eggplant with a tomato and the tofu stir fry. Must have the chilli sambal they make. The flavours in the dishes here are outstanding. Can't recommend this place enough.

Great homemade food for the price, pick from chicken curry, tomato eggplant, beef rendang, Galangal chicken.

Portions are superb.

Would definitely recommend.

A bit far but its really worth to try, foods are authentic just like home. Price and portion are good, casual and relax atmosphere. I love vegetables rice cakes, yellow rice, lemper and risoles.

I agree with Pmg Collectable's
review below.I am absolutely staggered by the astounding value to quality/quantity ratio here. The Beef Randang is off the chain good and I usually have the chicken curry on the same plate on rice and theirĀ homemade salsa is brilliant too for very little money. This place is a must for genuine great tasting Indonesian food.

Simply put, The best Indonesian food I have ever had in Melbourne. Great prices and amazing food quality and quantity. There is none other than Indosari and am I glad that they have reopened. No more looking around for Indonesian food for me.

Best indonesian food in melbourne! Cant get enough. The bain marie makes it great for everyone as you can see exactly what the food looks like, also great for a quick bite. Beef rendang is fantastic as are all the dishes

Finally! Indosari has been resurrected on Zomato. I have been waiting to add my review here because this establishment truly deserves good reviews and repeat customers. As mentioned in another review, Indosari has reopened recently. It has not taken long for the neighbourhood to get on to a good thing. Fresh food, packed with flavour, and value for money. My favourites are the curry chicken, sambal eggplant, and crispy chicken.
Ps: CASH ONLY.
Hello. Imnikki
The best news that I received so far in 2017 was that Indosari has re-opened. The worst news that I received so far in 2017 was that Indosari has re-opened since October 2016. I have been missing out on their absolutely delicious beef rendang for 3 months! It's a much bigger deal than you would think when you take Into consideration that Indosari have been closed for almost 2 years due to a fire. But you will be glad to know that other than a new coat of paint for the walls, nothing has changed. The food is still bursting with flavours and spices that Indonesian are so famous for, the beef rendang is melt-in-your-mouth tender, the chicken curry and jackfruit curry having absorbed the delectable sauce results in a mini explosion of flavours with each bite, and the sambal ijo, egg balado and anchovies and peanuts excelling in their roles as accompaniments to each meal by providing a contrast in texture, spiciness and saltiness. Indosari is unrivalled in serving the best home-cooked comfort Indonesian food in Melbourne. You will see the lady boss and two other aunties slaving over cauldrons of curries and rendang and huge woks of vegetables around the clock, creating magical wonders that delights tastebuds. Indosari is not helmed by social media personality, it doesn't even have much online presence, the dishes are not Instagram-worthy, it's not a cool place to be seen at, it's definitely not on everyone's to-dine at list and there's nothing to write home about the decor or ambiance. Yet it's my favourite place in Melbourne. Why? It's a family-run business where the bosses still remember you and other loyal customers after a 2 years' absence, the food are cooked the traditional way with no shortcuts taken to undermine the taste, and most importantly it's the kind of food that brings a smile to people's face and warm up your soul. I kid you not about Indosari's effect on people - when I found out that it had reopened, I sent out mass text messages to my friends and all responded with "OMG! I'm heading there ASAP!".
Eat And Be Merry Crew
IndoSari is one of those little eateries where you can get the Indonesian equivalent of that great Australian classic - meat and three vegetables - with rice for around ten dollars. While at first glance it doesn't look that inviting and the choice from t

Looking forward for Indosari to re-open.. I don't normally eat out, but when I do I go to Indosari for my favourite chicken curry and eggplant. I thought it will re-open in January. Since then I have been passing by, though out of my way just to check if it has re-opened.

Any idea when Indo Sari will reopen?. This place is amazing! I am absolutely lost without it!
Any idea when they plan to reopen?

Just for a moment. Unfortunately.... there's an accident occured and Indosari is closed since October 2014. However, it will be renovated!!! So I just hope that it will open soon! Can't wait to see the new Indosari and eat the lovely food from Indosari!

Sadly, this restaurant has closed down since October 2014.

Top Indonesian food place. Coming from Indonesia myself, I do miss a taste of Indonesian food. However, Indosari has helped me satisfy my cravings for Indonesian food over the past few month or so since I was recommended to have a go at it. Have been going back frequently since then. Recommended dishes are their Beef Rendang, Jackfruit curry, Potato cubes dish and of course their Yellow Rice (which costs an additional $1 but it is totally worth your $1 whenever it's available). If you like more spice, they also have an awesome sambal (chilli) which you can request for without any additional cost. Finally, their portions are huge for the amount that you pay for, if you would like more rice, just ask away. Will be having them cater for an event at the end of the year and will definitely continue going back (maybe every fortnight or month).

Excellent Indonesian - fresh and tasty. I am so glad I found this place by accident after fabric shopping across the road !! What a treat. There is no printed menu but a huge variety of Indonesian staples that are offered in the bain marie. All made on the day and can vary in choice.
Usual rendangs, chicken ( ayam goreng) spring rolls and lots of vegetarian options. My favourite is the artichoke curry ! so yum and unusual. There is an eggplant + tomato dish, tofu with bok choy in a light sauce and my other 'favourite', the fried ikan bilis with the roasted nuts. Choice of steamed rice or fried noodles with your dishes and must try the chilli sambal. I don't live in the neighbourhood but happily make the 20 minute trip anytime I need a fix :) Prices are very reasonable, eat in quick cafe style or take away and yes, the lady behind the counter is very friendly and generous.

WOW.. probably the best food you can get in Melbourne!!!. The people there are so nice and welcoming, portions are huge, the sweet lady behind the counter always gives you some extra samples just to try for next time, the place is simple and clean and the prices are so so so cheap..
But above all.. its the food, the amazingly tasty food i must say that makes me come back for more, i just love it!!!
I'v probably tried everything they have to offer and its all wonderful, great verity and great flavors of traditional home style Indonesian food.
recommend everything to everyone, i always take my friends and family here, its vegetarian friendly too

Good Indonesian "Pedestrian" Fare. If fast-food Indonesian style is your go ... this is one of the places for it. Food all cooked and ready-to-go in bainmaries .... Not the cheapest for the fare served up here .... Seemed quite popular that one late afternoon I was here. Appears they have a "home-catering" service too, as I observed 3 people coming in and taking away the same pre-packed dishes. Nothing really to rave about - just everyday wholesome Indonesian meals.

Way over price

Indoperfection!. It's like entering a small kitchen in Indonesia. The food is sublime! There are the regular, always amazing dishes and the occasional new dish that will always get the better of your curiosity. The woman behind the counter is so sweet and is always giving samples on top of what I get. The portions are huge and the prices are excellent! Definitely gets the N.C's two thumbs up.

Recommend trying: Everything!!!

Family buisness. Inosari is a small family buisness that delivers simple but excellent meals. The spicy potatos are my favorite by far. The portions are huge and the price is more than appropriate! The lady behind the counter is really sweet and generous with me. Definately my favorite in the area.

Generous and delicious!. The owner is very generous! Food quality and quantity are both superb. I always went there once in a while and I've never been disappointed. Great for catering for big events as well.

Above average tasting food. I must admit they produce really good beef rendang, but their crispy chick lacks any taste at all, though it looks really good.

I ordered a crispy chicken, beef rendang and a fried omelette with rice for $10.

Great for lunch on the go. I was never an eggplant eater before coming to this place. Now I cant get enough. Every time I come here I have to have it. Love the homemade chilli sauce.
Cheap, fast and tasty.

Fantastic authentic indo food! Staff are all from Jakarta and they cook authentic Indonesian food. I have a place in Bali and love how down to earth and cultured the staff are here, it's not westernized or commercial! Great little Indonesian restaurant!

My ideal home-cook meals!. It's home-cook meal, good food and good price. I like their un-regular foods serve on Saturdays. Bakmi Ayam, Lontong Cap Go Meh, Shiomay and many more.

Good stuff, cheap and good takeaway. Nothing fancy

Not Good Enough but Not Bad either.... Tried the fried chicken, rendang and potato.. they dont serve any ala carte menu at all.. just the one from bainmarie... Taste not bad, actually the rendang is nice.. the sambal is terrible.. the service just okay.. they should keep more clean the resto...^_^
Jo
Genuine Indonesian Food. This place is simple in presentation. The daily offerings from the bain marie are a genuine example of Indonesian food. The rendang is delicious, and at $3 per serve not worth trying to make at home!
