Review Qt Kitchen - Glen Iris

#HighlyRecommendRestaurant. Discovering new places for dining is always delightful especially when the food and services is more than what you expected. This is definitely the case of QT' kitchen , it exceeded our expectations! It is not your typical traditional Vietnamese cuisine, it's modern with a blend of uniquely infused flavours that dances into your palate. It is exciting, interesting and unforgettable! Don't take my word for it, to dine there is to believe. I absolutely love this place. I lost count the number of visits to date since January this year, it is always my happy place to dine. So, to all food enthusiasts out there, this restaurant is truly worth checking out. For me this is the no.1 best Vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne. It tick all the boxes for fine and casual dining, food, services and prices.

What a wonderful dinner. We went to QT kitchen for dinner and ordered two entrees and two mains plus fried rice. Al of the courses were wonderful and the flavours were delicious. We were particularly impressed with the service. It was attentive and not overbearing. I recommend this restaurant for couples or groups. We are looking forward to coming back with a group.

Beautiful place with beautiful food! Definitely an elevation on standard Vietnamese faire, so if you want something special, this is the place! Everything looks absolutely gorgeous and the setup is comfortable as well. Would recommend.

One of my favourite places to eat at in Glen Iris! I have been here twice now - once for dinner in 2021 which was busy, and just recently in 2022 for lunch which was not as busy as dinner, but still buzzing with customers. Both these times the staff were so friendly and accommodating. As soon as you step in the door you are greeted with welcoming smiles and tended to almost immediately. They will talk you through their recommendations if you ask for any, and they will check in on you throughout your meal without being too intrusive. The ambiance, and the restaurant setting overall is very well laid out, with nice cultural touches of Vietnam. The food tastes incredible, and came within a reasonable timeframe. Pictured is their vermicelli noodle salad with lemongrass beef. The sizes of beef were very generous! They were so soft and tender. The dish also contained peanuts which was a nice extra textural component; some fresh vegetables, just the right amount of chilli, and a delicious Nuoc Cham sauce. In terms of drinks - they have a selection both hot and cold drinks. Pictured is QT’s lychee, coconut and mint drink - flavours came through strong which was a surprise as drinks similar to this kind of drink tend to taste more watery to me. They always also have such a great selection of desserts out front. Highly recommend any of their cheesecakes and/or their panna cotta. Pictured is their cookies and creme cheesecake. 12/10 if I could provide it, honestly. Tasted amazing. Have been twice and would come again!

Cooking Vietnamese food is not hard. Cooking to bring it to a next level is a real challenge. That's why we need a Vietnamese restaurant like QT Kitchen as they have done it so well. We have tried both lunch and dinner menus which are absolutely fantastic. Their drinks are also a must try. The customer service is very amazing. Highly recommended!

The restaurant is amazing. Let’s begin with the staff, Kenny waited on us. He introduced himself n asked for our names. From the on, he never failed to address my friends n me by our names. Rest of the staff were great too. The Food by Chef Kevin, was simply delicious. I strongly recommend all to try it to believe it.

This has got to be the friendliest restaurant I’ve ever visited. The staff are just lovely and so accomodating in every way. The food is delicious and always so well presented! Don’t miss their cocktails on the drink menu as these are also amazing! If you want to visit a family friendly restaurant with great food and a warm welcome.. QT Kitchen is a must! 😀

This restaurant offers the best fresh ingredients and the most tasteful food. Everything is cooked on the spot, made to order, and hardly anything is pre-prepared. The service is wonderful, the staff are super friendly and caring. I’m very fussy with my food but QT ticks all the right boxes. Highly recommend it

Absolutely adore QT. Amazing food, great setting, lovely staff. It’s an affordable yet quality gem in the burbs that’s worth ticking off your “Melbourne Eats” list.

Highly recommended. Whole baby snapper is one of the best dishes that I've tried so far. Thanks for the excellent food and service. QT' kitchen made our Sunday night was perfect.

A fine Vietnamese restaurant well worth 5 stars. From the moment you enter to the moment you leave the staff offer the friendliest, most courteous service. A tantalising menu offers a range of exquisite dishes, with the presentation only being surpassed by the taste. Overall a flawless experience. Thank you QT.

The best service I have experienced outside of Turkey. The three of us were made to feel welcome and my friends birthday had been noted when booking and a 75 year old guy felt so good. My first time with Vietnam cuisine and I had no idea what to expect. İt was very different and extremely tasty. Portions were very ample and as a tourist I felt it had been a good experience. Thank you guys
Vanessa Carslake
So delicious and fresh ! Ribs were amazing ! Hanging to go back And try the chicken pho (my all time fave)!

My first time ever, lockdown stage 4: pick up of course. Very fast, great service, absolutely delicious. Tonight we had caramelised Bao, char chicken Bao and fried rice😊. 5 out of 5. Highly Recommended

Best prawn spring rolls I have ever had!!! So light crisp and tasty served with crisp fresh lettuce, carrot and fragrant fresh herbs!!!
Such a delight and so grateful they are open and delivering during stage 4 lockdown. Thank you

Came to QT on a Friday evening. I was glad I booked at this place got quite busy. Modern trendy restaurant.
🍴between the six of us we ordered spring rolls, crispy soft shell crab, roasted cauliflower, wok tossed wagyu beef, wok tossed egg noodles with prawns, chargrilled calamari, duck curry, vermicelli noodles with prawns, Vietnamese slaw, rice. Stand outs - calamari, spring rolls and wok tossed wagyu.
💁🏼‍♀️ service was very good. Very friendly staff. Food came quick to the table.

Enjoyed celebrating my birthday here recently. Great food and fantastic service! The charcoal brioche with soft shell crab was particularly good.
Sunny Days Melbourne
QT Kitchen is Vietnamese food tweaked to cater for the Western palate. Our group of 5 opted for the banquet. The highlight was probably the spring rolls - crunchy and filled with prawn, pork and wood ear mushrooms. The fried chicken wings were tasty as were the pork belly bao. The curry was somewhat nondescript and underwhelming. The soft shell crab was average and came in a miniscule serve.

Dessert was pavlova. Pavlova! I've never seen that in a Vietnamese restaurant before and it seemed a bit lacking in enough cream to balance out the sweetness of the meringue. After spending $55 each on food, a few of us were still pretty hungry.

Overall, an ok experience

So I had not planned this and actually came ourt to visit a customer but it was dinner time so I walked in and asked for a table. I'm so glad I did because the friendly service was excellent and was what got me excited enough to write a review. It seems like a lovely family owned business with amazing staff looking at every detail. The way the tables were cleaned was amazing with a keen attention to the smallest detail. So in terms of the food this too is amazing although I was so hungry I started eating the scallops before I took a photo. I had the scallops for entree with the duck curry for main and I'm definitely coming back.

We came for dinner on a Saturday night. Beautifully laid out restaurant and 10/10 service. The waiters are super friendly and attentive.

We got the soft shell crab entree (delicious, the highlight for me), duck curry & warm beef vermicelli salad. We also got the pavlova for dessert which was beautifully made and I loved the passionfruit on top. Food is very fresh, subtle flavours, nicely presented, all quality.

I would recommend this place 😊. I've given 4 stars because it is lovely, service is exceptional and food is good... but our dishes werent super mindblowing I would prefer stronger more intense flavours in the mains but still a great restaurant 😊

Reading all the reviews and ratings, i was very excited to try out QT kitchen, but boy was i disappointed.

First up, it was annoying that it was not specified anywhere on the menu that you need a minimum of 4 people to order the set menu. This would have worked out much cheaper for us and we enjoy trying multiple dishes. On the bright side, it was a good thing we didn’t order that many dishes because it would have been a waste. Not because we’d be full, but because the food was so mediocre.

Duck san choi bao had no flavour to it. The mint provided along with the dish was also browned and not fresh.

Chicken wings - the tamarind sauce was the only positive of the night. However, the texture of the chicken batter was unpleasant.

Lamb shank - dry as a bone and chewy. I could hardly cut it up. Furthermore, it was overly salty and the sauce even more so. The hummus did not go with the dish at all. Lamb is my favourite and i’ll eat it even at the worst of times, but i could not keep this down. Not usually a food waster, but this went uneaten.

The pork belly had barely any meat on it. I know pork belly is meant to be fatty, but this was next level. Perhaps if it were crispy pork belly it would have been more palatable, but i may as well have eaten a tub of lard with sips of soy sauce between bites. This was also extremely salty.

Would have ordered dessert, but based on the 4 dishes, it wasn’t worth wasting money on.
We ordered the spring rolls, sweet potato fries, edamame, beef ribs, crispy pork and chicken pho.

The chicken pho was not good; broth was a strange chicken stock not traditionally pho broth, the grilled whole chunks of chicken tenderloins seemed odd and was unappealing to me, noodles were not fresh.

The rice was dry and clumpy. Very distracting when trying to enjoy with the main meals.

The main dishes were well flavoured and well executed, however exceedingly pricey given the quantities provided.

I enjoyed the spring rolls; interesting take with the chewy skin. Mild flavoured fish sauce but still enjoyable.

Service was extremely friendly and attentive. Might be a nice place to come for special occasions but given prices, it will not be a regular haunt for me.
Sig
Service was outstanding, staff very friendly and so attentive, what a pleasant change
Food was great we had the spring rolls, beef ribs , chicken Kiev and pavlova all the meals were cooked perfectly and full of flavour
Thank you team, we will be back
It’s quite refreshing to see new and interesting restaurants open up in the suburbs, than crowding up in and around the city fringes. QT Kitchen is one such new venture headed by young chef Kevin, and specializes in modern Vietnamese cuisine. So I was quite excited to check out the food here when I received an invite from AGFG and QT.
Melbourniancritic (The Melbourne Experience)
QT Kitchen in Glen Iris is one hotspot that you should definitely add to your must visit list. We were absolutely blown away with our dining experience – from the food, to the relaxed vibe and the service that always came with a smile, QT Kitchen in Glen Iris really does offer the whole package for you and your family to enjoy.
Gastrology
QT Kitchen is a modern and relaxed Vietnamese restaurant that showcases contemporary Vietnamese cuisine in the heart of Glen Iris. The dining room is welcoming and relaxed with the large airy space accented by a tropical cocktail bar theme – think bright neon signs, thatched roofs lining the window into the kitchen and overhead fishing nets and bamboos setting the scene.

We have been to QT's 3 times and the service is wonderful, the food is to die for and very reasonable prices. The absolute best Vietnamese food but with a twist I've ever tasted. Special thanks to Kenny who is so lovely and friendly with a big beautiful smile. We have booked again for another dinner and can't wait! Thanks so much for a lovely dining experience.

I have always been a fan of Vienamese food and love the street food style of eating a steaming bowl of Pho or vermicelli noodles with the side of spring rolls in the crowded and noisy restaurants in Richmond or Springvale. QT Kitchen elevates this cuisine and takes it from street food to casual fine dining.

The interior decor has a beautiful blend of the motherland with modern dining decor. The kitchen and chefs are visible from the restaurant floor and there are enough tables to cater for an intimate meal for two or a party of 10.

There is a wide selection of dishes on the menu including seafood, curries, salads and soups. I would recommend ordering a variety of dishes and sharing them together. The duck curry, salad and dish were fantastic! Oh and the beef pho took what I love and elevated it to a new level! The chefs take great pride in their creations, evident by the creative plating of each dish.

The staff were very friendly, welcoming, prompt, attentive and helpful, even removing the fish fillets from the bone for us.

QT Kitchen is onto something special. Highly recommended!!

Came here for the first time and was not disappointed. From start to finish, the service was impeccable. The establishment has a beautiful layout with cool furnishings! The food was delicious and prices on par for the area. Will definitely come again as you can’t fault this place.

would rate this 4.5 if i could.
went for a weekday lunch and was served by a lovely waiter who was very attentive and accommodating (granted the restaurant was quiet). ordered the bbq ribs with grilled corn and salad, and the red curry with duck. both dishes came pretty fast (but again, we were the first customers). food was absolutely amazing, can't fault it whatsoever.

the ribs were coated in a delicious sauce, and so tender and falling off the bone. the accompanying salad was refreshing especially with the slices of citrus fruit. the lemon wedge on the side for the salad was also grilled so that it was easier to squeeze over the salad - appreciated that subtle detail. the red curry was so flavourful and loaded with many different ingredients such as sweet potato, capsicum, cauliflower and even lychee. had it with some rice, and it was absolutely divine.

one complaint would be parking, as there are no restrictions on the rear parking, so train station commuters took up all the parking spots.

Memorable dining experience here at this popular local Vietnamese eatery. The restaurant has a modern feel to it and is designed well enough for couples and larger groups to be seated in privacy. The service was excellent led by Timmy and Kenny. They both went out of their way to make each customer feel special in their "unique" way. We were quite hungry so we ordered 3 main meals to share. All were very fresh and delicious and reasonable size servings. Between us we ordered QT noodle salad with beef, Wok tossed wagyu beef and chicken papaya salad. Both salads were yummy and beef was very tender. Stir fry lacked basic flavour but overall a very nice Vietnamese experience.

Surprised to really enjoy this place as the previous restaurant here was average. Very flavoursome and fresh food esp the great salad with crab. Worth trying!
Could not recommend QT Kitchen enough. From the moment you walk in Kenny and all the lovely staff make you feel so genuinely welcome and looked after! Food is always so delicious! My family are regulars and will continue to be, lovely staff, lovely setting and delicious fresh food. You won’t regret giving QT a go!

I would like to rate this restaurant as 4.5, but the option isn't available. The service here is fabulous and the food delicious. Child friendly too.
I love that so many of the menu options are gluten free. It's so liberating to be able to choose from more that one item on the menu.
The caramelised pork belly is gorgeous. Tender and tasty, and quite rich.
The lamb shank is amazing too. Can also recommend the wagyu beef starter and the chicken wings.
My husband and friends had the barramundi red curry and loved it.
The ingredients are fresh and beautifully cooked. Portion sizes are very generous.
We will make this one of our local favourites.

Qt has some of the most wonderful staff I’ve ever experienced who not only make you feel welcome but also ensure you are looked after the whole time! The pho is the best I’ve ever eaten. It tastes like wholesome goodness and you can feel the quality! Some of our other favourites are the spring rolls, bao’s and the salads but to be honest, there’s nothing on the menu we haven’t enjoyed! This has become a favourite for us and we crave “qt” rather than the specific food category!

Quality: 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
Service:🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
Taste:🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
Ambiance:🌸🌸🌸🌸
Value:🌸🌸🌸🌸

I have to say this is one of my favourite places to go for lunch !! Been here twice and both times have been amazing.

They served the cider in a chilled cold glass which I thought was a nice added touch. The ribs were so tasty too! Although the spring rolls were nothing special but still yummy.

However the mains were the standouts. The lamb was probably one of the best things that i’ve eaten in ages. The pork belly was a bit oily and the fish was decent too ! The Pho was hearty and the beef balls were great. Although the Wagyu beef tenders was a tad dry, the sauces that came with it, made it taste so much better!

Overall I would definately recommend QT Kitchen to family and friends and will be coming back in the future.

The QT Fried wings were sticky and lovely, everything you could want in chicken wings.

When the manager works in the kitchen, you know the food will be made with passion.

Amazing ambience and welcoming staff as you enter the restraunt.

The menu has depth but not over the top, making sure they focus on each item they make.

Crispy Barrimundi red curry: OH. MY. DAYS. The curry itself, reminiscent (or might I say better) than Jinda Thai. Not being a fish lover myself, the fish was "non-fishy", fresh, clean and tempura crispy.
The best fish curry I've had to date in Melbourne.

Chicken Viet salad: standard Viet salad, nothing wrong about it. Well cooked chicken and good twist on the traditional Vietnamese fish sauce dressing.

Wagyu beef salad: amazing melt in your mouth Wagyu beef which is extremely generous in portions.

Pho: Good pho, depth of flavour.
We have been here so many times. The service is charming and the food is delicious. Salads are fresh, beef ribs are succulent and the cocktails are fun!
LetsDoBreaky
We have been here a few times and have had a lovely experience each time. The staff are attentive (plus genuinely happy) and helpful and the food is pretty great.
The pork belly bao, green spring rolls and the beef noodle salad were stand out meals. The only dish that didn’t meet expectations was the soft shell crab starter.

This place is incredible. Such a cheery interior, very friendly and helpful waiters and the food was fantastic. We ordered the gluten free rice paper rolls, the chicken coleslaw salad and the beef in betel leaves and it was all amazing. We will definitely be back again to try more things off the menu including one of the desserts!
I Love Food
Dined here for dinner last night. For entree we ordered the pork belly bao & prawn & pork spring rolls. For main we had the wok tossed wagyu beef strips with coconut rice. My friend ordered the tofu salad. For dessert we shared the sticky date & ginger pudding & hubby had the choc sundae. Food was delicious, cannot fault any of the dishes. Tasty with lots of punchy flavours. All the dishes very well presented too. I ordered a couple of the mojito cocktails & they were delicious. Very friendly & knowledgeable service. Special mention to our waiter Kenny, he took very good care of us & made the best cocktails. Waitress Van was also friendly. In the entertainment book so we got a good discount off the bill. Recommend this place, only been open for 8 months & the food & service are worth returning for. Fine dining feel without the fine dining price tag.

DO: The fried chicken, ribs, Bao and fried fish.

DON’T: Forget about the Vietnamese coffee or cocktails.

TIP: Don’t know what to order, just ask the friendly staff. Plenty of parking out the back

I pass this place frequently and never thought to try it as it doesn’t look like anything special. However, my friend recommended it to me and now I would also recommend to everyone! Inside the ambience is much nicer. Food is delicious and staff are friendly.

WE JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH.

When you walk in the door it's impossible not to feel the love dished out by the staff. They go over and above, the decor is on point and the food is to die for.

Do yourself a favour and check this place out.

Our go to? ALL OF IT.

I’m rating this restaurant 4.5 however I can’t choose half for some reason.
The service here was up there with the best service I have ever experienced! All staff were noticeably genuine and very efficient.
The restaurant decor is so new and beautiful and the kitchen is huge and it’s very impressive that u can view the chefs and the cooking.

The reason for 4.5 our of 5 is because the only dish we didn’t enjoy much is worth a half point deduction (the duck San Choi bao). It tasted very fatty and almost as though it was cooked in a large quantity of pork lard.

Soft shell crab, pork belly bao, Vietnamese vegetables and chicken salad (Vietnamese coleslaw style) were all EXCEPTIONAL.
This restaurant is fab and I will definitely be returning many times over :)

@twogoodtoresist
You don’t know friendly and passionate service until you’ve visited QT! The Vietnamese fusion here is simply to die for and despite neither us being vegan, we realised at the end of our meal that we essentially ate an almost all vegan meal and boy was it delicious (note: they have plenty of meat and fish options, it was a complete coincidence)! From sweet corn san choi Bao to vegan “duck” bao, from tofu pho to vegan duck curry, tofu salad to salmon rice paper rolls, everything was super flavoursome! The cocktails were great too- and super cheap (12$!). The stand outs for us was probably the twice cooked tofu salad as well as the vegan duck curry which was spiced and flavoursome to perfect. Don’t look past the salted caramel brown sundae for dessert (for both presentation and taste reasons). We can’t wait to go back and try more!

I’ve never ventured this far down High Street before but was willing to do for some quality Vietnamese food. QT Kitchen was definitely a place full of surprises for us. Not only was the interior stunningly designed, with a modern refurbished bar area and a South-East Asian straw hut hub, the variety of options available on their menu and the quality of their dishes definitely provided for a very wholesome dining experience. The multiple groups of people that came in during our very off-peak dining time on a Wednesday lunch was unsurprising, given the excellent and spacious atmosphere, amalgamated with a flavour-packed menu and signature cocktails. Also cannot forget the amazing customer service and hospitality we were received with, both waiters were very professional, polite and courteous in their behaviour that just made our experience all the more memorable. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone around the Southern suburbs!

Ate here for the first time tonight and will definitely not be my last. The staff are so lovely and welcoming! The food was delicious, authentic and nicer than your average Vietnamese... and I love Vietnamese food. The Waygu beef betel leaves, prawn fritter and crispy barramundi are a must! Highly recommended!

Got a take away Bahn mi (pork) and it was delicious! It was a hot day and the staff seated me at a table and brought some water whilst I waited, great warm friendly service! As a local I will be back to try more!

This establishment is under new management. New owners, new name and revamped interior. We were greeted by very friendly staff and directed to a table by the window. Water was served promptly along with the menus. I ordered the organic chicken salad with. My companions ordered the prawn and squid fritters and the braised beef from the specials list. My other companion ordered the tofu and mushroom spring rolls and rice paper rolls. All the dishes were absolutely delicious with all the fresh flavours we expect from Vietnamese cuisine. A great local which will become a regular for me

Have resisted coming here until now because surely modern Vietnamese in Glen Iris can’t be any good ... we were wrong. Every dish was refined, beautifully presented and delicious. Hard to pick a stand out but the baby snapper was amazing. Our waitress Thuc was delightful as were the rest of the staff. Not inexpensive but by no means overpriced. Highly recommendChubby Chicken Little Choncho Very Hungry Panda

Loved this quirky Vietnamese gem in Glen Iris. Service was spot on from the moment you walked in the door. Pork belly bao to start, sensational. Also had prawn and pork spring rolls, I loved them but my hubby found them a little too rich. We followed with the duck curry and beef vermicelli noodles. The curry had amazing flavours, lots of heat, the noodles were loaded with beautiful flavours and perfectly marinated tender beef.
Robert Guo
Ordered food from Uber Eats. Wagyu pho was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended. Very different concept and definitely worked out in the foods flavour.
The Casual Diner
Tried out QT Kitchen for dinner (off the back of the Entertainment Book) and was pleasantly surprised with the modern setup, deco and pleasant service. The food however, was hit and miss unfortunately.

We tried the Wagyu Beef in betel leaf (favourite dish, flavour packed and fresh 4/5), soft shell crab (crunchy and savoury, another good entree 3/5), BBQ Beef short ribs (ours was a bit burned tonight, so a bit bitter 2/5), warm vermicelli beef salad (flavoursome, and generous 4/5), and the caramelised Pork Belly (super hot, but too sweet for my liking 2/5). It was an overall good experience, not great. Presentation on each dish was great. However, I feel that the flavours can be a bit better balanced and further “amp” up for some of the dishes. Some dishes feel a bit confused (like the Pork Belly).

Ultimately, we come back for flavours we love, but I didn’t find that in any of the dishes today.
Nicky
Excellent food and service. Fresh and tasty and very flavoursome. Roast snapper was outstanding.Good vegan options too. Good value. Highly recommend.

Great food!!! Fresh and tasty! We’re happy to have this place in the area! The bao and squid were particularly tasty. Also loved the curry. Ingredients tasted fresh.

Beautiful food and amazing service! We tried the spring rolls and Waygu steak, and both were perfectly cooked and so delicious! The staff were lovely as well, I would definitely recommend trying one of Kenny's cocktail's! We'll definitely be back!
Excellent service- friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. All good was very good, particularly the entrees. Will definitely come back to try the pho!

Friendly staffs, fresh and delicious food, nice atmosphere. I recommend Red curry of duck and QT Girl cocktail. Will definitely come back again!

What stands out at this new restaurant is the freshness and quality of the food. Carefully selected and prepared to order. Some Vietnamese beers are available and worth a look. The wine list offers good value. Friendly and attentive staff.
Soft shell crab as entree was lovely as was Duck San choi bao.
