I shared two dishes with a friend, first was the Baba Bao. Three delightful steamed Taiwanese Bao a soft delicate crab with a lovely chili mayo, and fresh cucumber. Then a Pork Belly with a pickled mustard to die for. Thirdly a kara-age chicken with a tasty sauce.
Then the Hong Kong Egg Waffle, wow this was truly amazing. with custard so light and creamy. That berry compote sweet but not overpowering, then green tea and pistachio praline bringing the dish quietly together. A mouthwatering delight.
I will be back.
Food is beautiful, wonderful fusion, but totally unpretentious. Have dined here a few times, and always impressed.

A cafe close to Glen Iris station drew my attention through its cute teddy art with every hot chocolate and matcha drinks. What did surprise me more from the place is the quality of their dishes. The cafe put together an asian fusion menu which included dishes like the okonomoyaki and chilli egg scramble.
Japanese cabbage and corn fritter 4/5: While the dish was amazingly presented and tastes like the okonomoyaki dish from Japan it did not need the ham to complete this dish. Having poached egg on any dish will always be a yes from me so I was quite satisfied with the dish.
Chilli prawn egg scramble 3/5 - special menu: Not being a fan of prawn and eggs together, the flavours still came out quite nicely. The egg was fluffy and had a nice kick to it. Would have liked the croissant to have been a little more toasted and the dish to have something to cut the richness of the prawn and eggs.
Potato croquettes 3.5/5: From the value of this dish in proportion to the quantity you get it did not disappoint. The broccoli salad which I quite enjoyed, gave the dish a balance between the hollandaise and the fried potatoes. The croquettes were crisp but also fluffy inside. The presentation was eye-catching and as a fan of smoked salmon, I am definitely planning to reorder this next time.
Drinks 2.5/5: Disappointing to find that the hot chocolate from mork did not live up to our standards as it tasted quite watery rather than rich with chocolate flavour. The matcha latte was also a little milkier to my liking. Adding a bit more would do no one any harm am I right? The art however shows that extra attention the Barista give to their customers which I quite appreciated.
Overall I quite liked the ambience of the cafe and the overall presentation of the food. Flavours were different to most brunch places which gave this place an edge I'll remember it by.

The best hong kong egg waffles I’ve had. Would return just to eat them again. Light and fluffy but should be eaten quick as the hot waffles melt the ice cream.

One of the best cafes in Melbourne. Beautiful and cute matcha latte. Be sure to try the Baos, my favourite out of the fried chicken, soft sheep crab and pork belly would be the pork. But you get all three and they are all awesome.

Been here twice which 1st time was over a weekend and the 2nd time was a weekday. Both times didnt disappoint at all. The flavor of the food has good flavor so no extra salt or pepper is required.
We ordered the ramen, Boa and the chicken wrap. The Ramen noodles had a nice bean paste flavor and the noodles where perfectly cooked. Nothing is worse than having over cooked noodles.
The Boa was pretty average with a very small amount of soft shell crab. I thought little bit more sauce would be nice tho. The chicken wrap was amazing. Chicken was very juicy, not over fried and with the comination with cabage and i think Japanese mayo really hit the spot.
Lovely presentation with my matcha latte but couldnttaste the match flavor. The vietamese coffee could have been little sweater and slightly stronger.
Im big on cleanliness, coz if you cant keep you premises clean then how clean is ur kitchen??? I would say the decor of the premises is kept minimal and is very clean. Store is rather small so you can be sitting rather close to the next table.
The reason i didnt give this place a 5/5 would be becoz i only got great customer service from one person but the rest of the members didnt seem to happy

When I think HK-style egg waffles, Baba Sus always comes to mind and it never disappoints. The other food on the menu is all good which always makes it hard to decide but whenever I am here, I can never not order their egg waffles.

Caught up with a college friend over the weekend and albeit said friend arriving a little late, we still managed to have a meaningful conversation over a couple of hours. Parking was not difficult as street parking was easily available and there's even a train station nearby for those wanting to park at the station.
Friendly staff and quick service. The food was pretty good too. I ordered the baba sus and my friends and I shared the baba baos. The baos were so fluffy and was packed full of flavour. I also ordered a smoothie which was great and well balanced. Their match's green tea latte was a little bit of a let down but the latte art was cute. I'd come back
Baba Sus has always been one of my favourite places for brunch and our recent visit didn't change that. Love the beautiful drinks and delicious Asian-influenced meals. Food was overall tasty. My mom ordered the wagyu burger which she claimed was nice while I ordered the baba bao which was also pretty good. My one comment would be it was served cold and I would have preferred my food hotter but overall they were good dishes.
Service was very good here although they did serve my mom the wrong dish at first, they quickly corrected their order and apologized politely. Service was relatively fast and good, would definitely come back.

An asian-inspired yet modern-style cafe with a fast-paced and cosy atmosphere. Baba Sus offers a variety of breakfast and lunch menu items that not only satisfies your palette but also feasts your eyes. The coffee here are made with a passion by their dedicated staff and had a great smooth and creamy taste.
Love love loved the HK egg waffles, when it was served it smelt little eggy I doubted my order would be edible or not. As I do not like strong smell of egg. But it proved me wrong. It was an amazing waffle with the right amount of sweetness and berries, the greentea icecream wasn't too strong either, the flavours were right there. The Matcha latte wasn't my cup of tea, as it was little too strong flavoured greentea latte for my likings. Overall it was wonderful. Would love to visit again to have the waffles and try something new.
There maybe little wait for groups on weekend. Staff is really friendly and according to me you may encounter a little wait in service depending on the hour.

One of my favourite "in the burbs" brunch place. Not only is it easy to get to (esp. when it comes to parking, or even PTV, since it is right next to the Burwood station).
The dishes here are heavily influenced by Asian cuisine, which differentiates it from the norm when it comes to Melbourne brunching. You must try their matcha latte, deliciously bitter while not too sweet. Apart from that, the three set "bao" and congee are a must try.
It is a very cute and warm place for brunch. I always like the pattern on hot chocolate. Most of the time in long queue on weekend. Love the food as well.

Went for the waffles and that's exactly what we ordered.
Generous portion hot waffles with custard filling toppled with raspberry and blueberries then finished it off with a significant scope of green tea ice cream. Each bite, you taste the warm waffles, and sweet custard, then sour of the fruits hits you before you are then surprised by the cold green tea ice cream. Perfect balance between sweet sour cold and hot. 5/5
The ambience is pleasant, sweet little cozy place. Though does get busy during peak hours. Parking is plenty on nearby street and train station parking.

A super venue. The wait for a table wasn’t very long at all. Great food, drinks and staff. Everything came out relatively fast and the size/set up seating of the venue was comfortable and suitable. Highly recommend.
Nice Sunday morning, had brunch with our friends. All the dishes we ordered is nice, especially the burger and chips. Tried Flat white and Vietnam coffee, FW is good but VC is a little bit weak. Anyway, it's definitely a good choice for brunch.
I absolutely love this cafe!! The employees are extremely polite and the service is amazing. Our food came out pretty fast, compared to the other cafes i’ve been to before, and my plate was delicious. I truly recommend for anyone to come here for a calm and peaceful environment.
The food here is alright, friendly and helpful staff. Good location next to the Burwood station, there’s parking at the station and on the residential streets nearby. The highlight for me has to be the watermelon and coconut smoothie ❤️❤️❤️❤️ must try!
Loved Bab Sus! A small little cafe in Glen Iris - truly a local gem. Started off with a delicious vietnamese coffee, and chose the cabbage & corn fritters. Had a delicious wasabi mayanoise, and maybe a little too much of the sweet soy dressing, but overall was great!
Located right beside Burwood train station within a quiet housing area, neighbours are probably used to seeing this cafe always busting busy at any time of the day.
My friends and I love this place, especially their popular “The Hangover” - which is our go-to after a night out drinking too much. Love that this congee has a very unique flavour with 2 big pieces of braised pork belly - highly recommended although only available for winter menu.
The Hong Kong egg waffles is also a hot dish - I often see people having a main to themselves and this dish as a dessert after. (Definitely Instagram worthy as well!)
Other food options and choices of drinks are very interesting too. Smoothies are yums! (Friend who is picky with smoothies loved them). Personally think their matcha latte isn’t the best, but A+ to latte art!

I've been frequenting Baba Sus for over three years now; it's definitely a regular go to. Favs are the Vietnamese coffee, Hong Kong egg waffle, Japanese cabbage and corn fritter, and beer battered chips. Quality is always consistent and to a high standard, and flavours are unique and punchy. Love the Asian flavour twist that each dish has. Staff are friendly and service is quick. Cute, quirky, and modern interior; typically no issue getting a seat.
I would however be keen to see some new breakfast options, or even have access to lunch options during breakfast time for greater variety.
Went here for breakfast and had the Piglette and it had the right amount of heat to wake up the palette and love the Thai flavours. My friend had the potato croquettes and it was good. Would love to try the Hong Kong waffles next time
Customer service was great as our waitresses were very welcoming and friendly. I ordered a dirty soy chai, the baba bao and we got complimentary Hong Kong egg waffles with matcha icecream.
The dirty chai latte tasted like a normal latte. The coffee completely masked the sweetness of the chai instead of complimenting it.
The baba baos were really enjoyable and full of flavours. I loved the soft shell crab and pork belly baos out of the three; the third being the chicken bao which in comparison wasn't as good.

We came here for brunch on a Saturday and were seated immediately. The cafe wasn't too busy which made it comfortable to converse. We ordered the potato croquettes and the baba sus. I thoroughly enjoyed the croquettes as they were creamy and absolutely more-ish. The pork belly on the other hand, was more hearty and the skin was nice and crispy. I will return again to try the other items on the menu.
I looked up the best egg waffles in Melbourne, and Baba Sus came up. I had a real craving for egg waffles hence made the journey here to test it out.
I was definitely not disappointed.
The Egg waffle was soft, rich, and puffy, exactly how it should be. Flavours 100%.
Served with a generous but not overwhelming serve of beautiful vanilla custard - just enough to soak each bite of waffle but not too much to make the entire dish soggy!
Berry compote gave the dish a nice sweet/sour addition, and the green tea ice cream was perfect.
Coffee was good.

It was a saturday morning, when my friend and i want to find food near our house to cure our hangover. We found babasus and wait for 30-40 minutes to get the table. The cafe was so packed and crowded. Famous for its hongkong egg waffle, so we ordered two of them. One with the berries compote & green tea ice cream and the other with red bean & vanilla sesame ice cream.
We also ordered Inside out, The babasus, Not so florentine, chilli crab omelett & polenta nuggets . Overall, it was a good food and good vibes with my friends. However,because it was such a busy day,the staff was not really helpfull and we waited 30-40minutes for our food to came out and they kinda ignore us. Hopefully it will get better next time we visit babasus again.

Baba sus at Glen Iris. It was a nice but wired experience as at the end I almost forgot to pay the bill but no one asked me to pay:( I liked the food and easy to park during busy hours. Only problem is that service is a bit poor and a bit out of control.

Best to time your visit slightly after 1pm on a weekend so as to avoid the mad lunch rush. Staff were warm and friendly; food really tasty and visually appealing. Make sure you keep enough space to share (or not) an egg waffle with ice cream for dessert!

You know a meal is pretty when someone from another table asks to take a photo of it! ❤️ And it is as tasy as it looks! Subtle flavour, yummy custard and delicious fruits! I read that the chef who created this dish says it reminds him of his childhood! I love that! Yep, delicious! :)

Service is really friendly and accommodating given we also had prams. We went early after reading reviews about their queues. We got there around 11:30am on a weekday and after about 30 mins it was packed.
Food: we had the Hangover congee, Inside out scotch egg, HK waffles and the kids had mini ham cheese burgers. The girls had to have 2 serves each of the burgers cos one was not enough. I had to order another congee as my daughter had that too! The scotch egg was too salty and smashed peas were hard according to my friend. Waffles were delicious and beautiful to look at. Meals are not cheap and portion sizes, particularly congee are smallish.
Good place to go for a meal on occasion as it's not cheap!
Baba Sus is located in a quite residential area in Glen Iris, with boastful relaxed, modern vibes and utilisation of natural lighting. Came by Sunday in the late morning and issues with seating were non existent. Staff were very friendly, and treated us well. The matcha latte was adorable with the bear latte art, although I miss the serve of honey it used to come with!
Had the soba noodles which was quite nice and refreshing, although the dipping sauce was a touch too overpowering. The special pancakes were quite nice with the berries and lemon curd cutting through the sweetness, although the pancakes itself could have been a touch lighter/ fluffier. Still yet to properly try the Hong Kong egg waffles - maybe next time!

The pork belly had good flavour and very tender. The portion is too small though.

Looking at the amazing reviews, we made a visit to baba sus! We waited for 15 minutes as it was packed! Finally, when we got a table, we made our order but it took a while for someone to take our order. We ordered for pancakes, burger, matcha latte, soy latte and the vietnamese coffee. The pancake and the burger was good. The coffees were decent as well but the matcha latte tasted like they just mixed water with matcha powder. It was so bland that i didn't take another sip after the first. The food is decent but the matcha latte needs a huge improvement. The service was okay as well.. we understand that sometimes it gets really busy but it would be better if it is a little more welcoming :)
We went there for the famous Hong Kong egg waffles but we're actually more impressed by the Japanese style hamburger stew, the Hambagu! A great combination of strong tomato and cheesy flavors, with a perfect balance of winter veggies and tender hamburger meats, the toast comes with the stew goes exceptionally well with the dish when you dips it into the tomato sauce. A very appetizing dish.
Hong Kong egg waffles got a great presentation and nice flavor, but the texture wasn't really as crispy as what I was expected before, even though the berries balanced out the sweetness of the custards, it can still be a bit too sweet to finish if you weren't sharing, and can get a bit soggy after the ice cream melted.
Also got the watermelon and coconut milkshake, very creative and refreshing! Would absolutely recommend.

Loved this place! We walked in on a winter morning and ordered the pulled pork with eggs and the spicy omlette and were just blown away by the flavors. Everything was spicy and had that heat from chillies which is something hard to find in Melbourne. Was the perfect alternative to traditional aussie breakfasts. Skip your usual toast and avo and spinach and go here for amazing fusion food. Also we went in with a toddler and there were plenty of options for kids. Definitely going back again!

I have heard great things about this cafe and it really got my expectations high. The cafe is like a hidden gem among housings, it is near to a train station so parking was easy. The food in general has Asian influence and I think is slightly above average. However, I do not think it is great and probably would not be in a rush to come back on a regular basis. Another con of the cafe is the small space and all tables are packed very tightly. It makes the brunch experience less relaxing.

There is so much things going on in a bowl of porridge, a twist of both western and eastern! Ohh! And don't forget to order their Hong Kong Egg Waffle! Both savoury and sweetness in a plate. I have been really excited to try Baba Sus for quite some time now. The latte art is so cute here!!! I got the Japanese Corn Croquettes. I'm not sure if it's still on the menu but this was delicious!!! Even though we were stuffed, we couldn't go all the way to Baba Sus and not get these famous Hong Kong egg waffles. They were wonderfully stuffed with gooey vanilla custard and topped with berry compote, green tea ice cream and pistachio praline. The waffle itself wasn't doughy and no individual element was overpowering. Great balance of sweetness and acidity. I just wanted more of that green tea ice cream! Yum! Overall, we had a great time at Baba Sus. The food was top notch. It was definitely worth the drive.

The Piglet was excellent. A lovely taste and a good size. A perfect breakfast omelette with a twist.
The waffles were beautiful. Great taste.

Delicious food, lots of choice from and very accommodating staff! Coffee, desserts, burger are also a winning combination! Will definitely be back.
Still has to be one of my favourite places to go for brunch and coffee. Such a warm and cosy interior with service to match. Food always comes out well presented and tasting delicious. Cappuccinos are always good, their matcha lattes are well received and I indulged with an iced coffee once as well and thoroughly enjoyed that too. Bring your family and friends, this place is lit! 😊
Fantastic food and coffee! I have currently tried the chicken karrage wrap and the not so florentine, and both dishes did not disappoint. Really nice location in side street and beautiful warm and open interior. Great place to bring a friend or a group, will definitely be going back 😊
Coffee and food are very delicious! Open early in the morning suits people need to go early and staff are very friendly. Will definitely come back to try other menu. Recommend.
The food served was at a great price. Service was average, however the ambience was amazing and food was of quality. The best brunch place I have been in Melbourne.
Been eyeing the menu and photos of Baba Sus for a while, but finally decided to pay a visit. Despite being a relatively small corner café, it is always bustling, especially during the weekends . Fortunately, we were able to get a table for 2 straight away during the week (around 1:30pm).
Ordered a matcha latte (without honey) and "The Hangover". The matcha latte was very strong, would probably have it with honey next time, nevertheless still good (and super cute coffee art!!). "The Hangover" was congee with a tender and flavoursome braised pork belly, tea egg and a variety of vegetables and pickled condiments served in a stone bowl. There was enough broth/sauce to add flavour without being to overpowering, and overall a filling dish. Would recommend both!!

One of the eastern suburbs' best kept secrets, Baba Sus perfects the art of fusion with its unique menu brimming with classics with a twist. I'm not normally a huge fan of fusion flavours so Baba Sus has never been one of my Go To's but little did I know what I was really missing out on. This little modern cafe is tucked in a quiet corner of Glen Iris with a few outdoor tables for the dog crowd. Despite the location it is quite busy and you can expect a line at times, as I did on this particular occasion (20 minute wait). Once inside the decor is organic with a lot of natural light (perfect for photo taking!) and a view inside the kitchen which really sets the atmosphere of the cafe.
Love the fusion of Asian ingredients into brunch food and it all works! Definitely want to go back and try more of their dishes and eating again the ones I have already ordered here
Really yummy chips coffees hot choc and matcha latte (even though I don't love hot matcha drinks I had to try!). The latte art was adorable! The matcha waffle was very sweet and very soggy but I think it's hard to get a tasty egg waffle. Chips were awesome. Omelette was really yummy too!
Popular cafe in this area. My friend and I tried "the baba sus(twice cooked pork belly)", "Hong Kong egg waffles " and "the outcast(toast with avocado, poached eggs halumi etc)". All dishes we had were good and HK waffles were our favourites.
Although latte looked beautiful, it was burnt taste unfortunately. I should try matcha latte or something else next time.
Came here especially to give these HK egg waffles a try and boy were they good! Great to satisfy the sweet tooth! Definately will be back.
Staff are friendly.. cafe's interior is simple but comfortable as well as spacious. Location seems a bit isolated though, just a couple of other business on the strip then it's all residential homes. Guess that makes for a better outside sitting.
Update 25/6/2017: Came back today as a group of 3 and tried the Baba Sus (pork belly), lovely dish. Green tea latte art was cute but taste was average. The menu must have changed as the limited edition HK egg waffles was no longer on the menu, I actually prefer it to the one still on the menu. Here's hoping they bring it back/introduce some new flavours sometime in the future.
Love love loveeeeeee Baba Sus so much! This is such a cute brunch place to go for when you decide to head out from the city! Their signature baba sus was awesome, also their HongKong pufflets! Yummmmmmzzzzz
I wished I lived near here because I would love to visit this cafe again and again. I had The Piglets and it was so full of flavour and well balanced. My boyfriend had the Hong Kong Egg Waffles, which looked nice and tasted good. My chai latte wasn't as enjoyable but good food is much more important
As it was Easter long weekend we didn't think the cafes on Bardolph St would be opened but there they were! Baba Sus was packed but we were seated quite quickly. There was a limited menu due to the holidays but there was something for everyone. Food was quite interesting.. decent serves, interesting flavours though execution wasn't quite 100%. For example... for some reason 1 coffee was serveral shades darker with twice as much kremer than the other.
If you like something different that standard “modern” cafe , Baba Sus did not disappoint! You need to try their crispy pork belly!! Just look at the photos that I posted. Hig portion too. We also ordered the omelette, so yummy. I have been so many cafes and lately they offered similar food OR the portions are too small 😄 We will definitely come back.
Love coming to Baba Sus. Always delicious. Really enjoy the fusion of Asian and western cuisine. I usually go for their HK waffles but thought I'd try something different this time.
LOVE everything about this place! Okay so the Waffles are AMAZING!!! Everything on that plate compliments one another and it is just delicious! Coffee is amazing, all other food is fantastic. ZERO faults.

Love this place! The egg waffles with custard, matcha ice cream and raspberry coulis is amazing. Honestly I haven't tried anything else on their menu but its worth it for that alone. I've taken a few dates on there and one of them is going to be my future wife now. Great memories here. Love it!

Asian fusion cafe, we loved the HongKong egg waffle, custard are great to taste with highlights of berries, crispy waffle too!
Congee is something rare in cafe, I like the congee but maybe not all the toppings. Baba bao I reckon is a good dish, like very stable dish, not difficult to failed the taste!
However, still good food and coffee! Will revisit !
