Absolutely loved the Eggs Benny here! It came with slow cooked pork shoulder, sweet potato rosti, spinach, hollandaise and a balsamic glaze. I really liked the sweet potato substituted instead of bread and it matched well with the pork. The balsamic and hollandaise combo was AMAZING. The Pantry is right next to a park and playground so it’s the perfect spot to go for a walk around after you eat. Great local place for a feed.
Lovely cafe outdoor area opposite the park. Service needs improvement. Enjoyed our lunch. Nice fresh flavoursome food, that's well presented. Barely any cakes left in the afternoon. Just slices and biscuits left so not much variety to choose from which was disappointing. The GF Chocolate Caramel Slice was nice - good to share that one.
Found this local cafe when I stopped by Ferndale Park (playground). Ordered the Korean Fried Chicken and to be honest I wasn’t expecting much from a non-Korean joint. But surprisingly it was nice. There were 8 drumettes and taste good. My daughter loved it! The coffee is just ok, it’s not bad but at the same time, nothing to write home about (hence why only 4 rating, not higher). Service was very friendly and quite fast. The cafe also has quite a big sitting area both inside and outside (under cover) so you can still enjoy the sun. Will definitely come back again.
I'm always searching for a park with a good playground that's got a decent cafe nearby and this place is just that. Just across the road from Ferndale park, It stands out in its style and the sweet treats are not mass produced 15 day old slices and cookies; they look rather appetising and they were. The decor is quaint and the ambience is warm.
What started out as a humble milk bar built back in 1927, the building has renovated and expanded, recently been rebranded into the Glen Iris Pantry serving breakfast, lunch, coffee, milkshakes & everything in between!
They have a small, but well stocked convenience store as you first enter, and a dining / restaurant area just next door.
The first waitress that served us wasn’t too friendly when we walked in. It wasn’t clear whether we were to find our own seats, or would be shown to a table allocated by the staff, so we hovered a bit near the entrance. The service was quick and the dishes were all quite nice, with the Salmon Stack being the hit of the day. The waffles and mushroom soup were tied as second best, but I’d definitely go for the waffles if you’re after something sweet for dessert.

A good local cafe/deli across the road from ferndale park. Bring the kids for a milkshake, grab a coffee and go across the road to the playground.
The pantry is also along the beautiful ferndale trail. If you are out on a walk or bike ride, this is the perfect spot to stop for a coffee/bite to eat. The coffee is good and food not bad with staples but also the likes of waffles/brioche French toast.
As for service, the young boy that served me today was genuinely friendly/polite and even helped open the door for me whilst I was wrangling my toddler. Perfect.
Great coffee and friendly service - love going there for breaky with the family on weekends. It's always busy which has got to be a good sign 😄
I love the pantry! I don't understand all the negative reviews. Each weekend I get my coffee and breakfast from the pantry, sure there might be a wait, but I'm happy to wait for good quality. The young team of staff can sometimes seem a little untrained but they are giving local kids jobs and experience. I have always had friendly staff maybe not the quickest but I have never left unhappy. The owners take special love in what they do and you can tell. This is the perfect place for a coffee and cake on a weekend. I haven't had a huge amount from their kitchen but the Greek nights they host are awesome !
Excellent coffee and breakfast menu interesting. Service can be a bit patch but it is a good local. Has happy hour Fridays and opens also for Friday dinner
The coffee is good and they offer a really yummy rocky road which I cant usually go past. Usually quite busy on the weekends. Nice on a warm summers day to sit outside.
Family friendly cafe which the kids love. They sell very yummy hedgehog and vanilla slice. The milkshakes were made well as the kids said they were flavoursome! Good place to go if you are a local.
Best coffee in the area - especially when Chris makes it! These guys are passionate and genuinely appreciate your custom. Great service with a smile and serious attention to detail on your coffee order. Love it.

A local family with a big dream - coffee is bang on every morning I go in! Dog friendly courtyard which is perfect for so many it seems and the polenta with truffle mushrooms and a slow poach egg is to die for!!! All the staff are accommodating and genuine. Something I NEVER see else where. They will even remember your name.....wow!
Great cafe with great food. Love coming to this place, have a great breakfast menu and have some of the best sandwich combinations in Melbourne. Also has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and vibe.

Amazing food, great coffee and excellent custome service. Went to visit this little cosy cafe once looking to try out new cafes in the area, first of all the atmosphere was very homely, I was greeted with warm smiles straightaway.
I ordered the coconut crepe from the restaurant menu and was served by a really cute waitress. Anyways the food was fantastic, the coffee came straight after, overall experience was very good, would definatley come back again.
GREAT LITTLE CAFE/ VERY KID FRIENDLY.. I visit this cafe at least 3 times a week, usually with small children. The staff are always a delight, and are super helpful with keeping the kids entertained whilst waiting for coffee/food. The cafe has a lovely homely feel, and a delicious menu. Even when the cafe is at full capacity, the staff seem to maintain their accommodating nature, ensuring customers aren't left waiting and wondering. Highly recommend a visit!

A wonderful long term family business. Their themed dinners are an amazing and exciting newer addition. The coffee can be great but it depends who is working. A lot of the staff are very happy and friendly. The selection of cakes and focaccias are to die for.
Love this place. Great for a casual lunch. Good value lepinjas and burek. Very tasty. Unfortunately I can't stand the coffee....must be the beans they use. But I keep coming back anyway. I like the ambience and sitting out when it's sunny is great. Could do with less dogs in the eating area outside....especially when they are sniffing around your child's legs when they're trying to eat and the dog owner thinks there's nothing wrong with that....
Why has happened to this place?. Used to love it. But lately the service has been so crap. I order soy cap and they have given me normal milk. I should have checked every time I ordered before going home. They charge an extra 50 cents everytime. Will I ever learn! Won't be back.

New local for us!. Great rolls ($9-10) and coffee. lovely and warm inside. lots of seating outside. can have premade or made to order food.
Really worth a visit: Great ambiance and delicious food! The coffee doesn't disappoint either. We tried the special pizza: Gorgonzola, pear and prosciutto. Wow! Highly recommend the hamburger and shakshuka :)
Hidden Gem!. Been coming to this place for years, ever since it started out as the Glen Iris Milk Bar (with the famous giant milk carton!) and still come here to this day. I absolutely love the service, the food, the atmosphere... everything about it! The coffee is a little hit or miss (depending on who's on the machine) but the staff will always serve you with a smile, and they definitely stand by the family values and top-notch service that I think this place is all about.
Definitely come here on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Bring your kids, have a kick of the footy in the park across the road, and enjoy a simple, delicious and surprisingly good, suburban café experience.
We escaped into Glen Iris Pantry while the rain was bucketing down outside, typical Melbourne weather. Luckily there was an available table, looking across from the open fire. It is a quaint cafe where you can also purchase your milk and bread. A large assortment of fresh filled focaccias, tarts and cakes were available as well as your warm pies and sausage rolls.
Lovely cafe opposite the footy oval and park. Nice panty options of cakes, sandwiches and treats. The seating area next door is quiet and staff friendly. My only complaint is they got my order wrong. Coffee was nice and would definitely come back.
I absolutely love popping in here to grab some naughty treats for brunch. The rotating pastries is always a nice way to get some variety. And I highly recommend grabbing the cinnamon scrolls if they haven't already sold out (pop them in the microwave for a few seconds if you get them as take away).

Cute spot. Quaint interior looking like an old school milk bar and a nice outdoor seating area too. Sweets like donuts and cruffins looked nice. Coffee was decent. Wouldn’t mind sitting in next time for a sandwich and coffee in a real cup. Convenient location for food and drink right next to the park.
Agree with other reviews that the Glen Iris Pantry is more-or-less an establishment in Glen Iris. Consistently great food, coffee and most importantly, service.
Staff are always friendly and accommodating to my fussy toddler who loves the sausage rolls and babycinos inbetween having a play at the playground at Ferndale Park.
One of the best cafes in the area. I loved the inside decor and the seating is amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered magic late. It was delicious and strong. Anyone who need to taste how coffee should be , he should come there. I do recommend it for sure and I will definitely come back.
This cafe is a fantastic part of the Glen Iris community. Food and coffee are good, love the Mediterranean Roll and the bacon and egg sliders. The store is also full of some great specialty products.
The real beauty of this cafe is the community spirit from the owners, they know so many of their customers by name and coffee order.
Dogs, cyclists, runners, walkers and people who just need a good feed and quality coffee all frequent this cafe and feel very welcome.

This was my first time visit to the Glen Iris Pantry, a milk bar and cafe located directly opposite Ferndale Park an kids playground, and close to walking and bike riding trails. I was very impressed. It does serve food but the five of us just had coffee, a mix of cappuccino, latte and flat whites and each one of us was happy with the coffee.
I was also impressed with the decor and the ambiance of the place. We sat in the back room which is made up like one's living room with couches and open fire, with a mantle and mirror above, and a coffee table with magazines to read.
There's also a seating area for a larger number of people at the back as well as a courtyard area. Service was a bit slow but overall, pretty good. Might try the food on our next visit.
