Super friendly staff and warm atmosphere. My partner and I order blue grenadier (grilled) and chips. The fish was meaty and fresh, nicely grilled. Chips were crispy, thick cut and lightly salted. New local locked in!
Pirates Catch is a small outlet located in Stockland Tooronga in Glen Iris. I have been here on several occasions and found their food consistently delicious. Today I dined on the $10 Tuesday (and Thursday) special of Burger with the Lot and Chips. I must say that I have always been partial to a fish and chip shop hamburger and the Pirate's Catch version didn't disappoint. A well cooked slab of beef lay nestled amongst sweet onions, lettuce, tomatoes, onion and good old egg and bacon inside a nicely toasted bun. Accompanying this was a generously sized portion of perfectly cooked chips.

Super friendly service, which made up for the wait time which was a little longer than I'd usually like to wait. I appreciated they took care in making the food not rushing it, plated nicely and the best thing, FREE SAUCE ON THE TABLES! I had a Captains Pack which was fish of the day with either chips or salad ($10). The lady was so lovely she allowed me to have half serve of chips AND salad. When the meal came out she ended up giving me full sized chips and small salad on the side. my greedy guts were so happy and I had a satisfying meal. Wjll give the seafood pack a go next time.
KID FRIENDLY: Definitely could! Tables toward front of the store has more room so if you need pram parking, it's doable.

Last night I decided to get dinner at Pirates Catch after remembering my usual Fish and Chip place, Malvern Fish and Chips is closed on Sunday's.
The plain burger at Pirates Catch is more expensive than at Malvern Fish and Chips but this is worth it considering that the meat pattie is thicker and there are more toppings. Pirates Catch's plain burger comes with the meat pattie, tomato sauce, cheese, lettuce and tomato. The plain burger at the other nearby fish and chip shop only comes with the pattie, sauce and lettuce. The burger can also come with chips instead of paying for that separately so it is a combo. I also ordered one potato cake.
I preferred Pirates Catch's burger, it was delicious and I would definitely return for it! I preferred the chips and potato cakes from Malvern Fish and Chips since theirs has more flavour in my opinion.
I was very impressed with the generous serving of chips though!
I ordered a captain's pick (fish and chips) and my partner ordered the calamari pack (calamari and chips). The food was delicious, well cooked and very fresh. This place doubles as a fresh fish market so you can also buy some fresh fish to cook for yourself later on. The service by the waitress was a bit lacking in enthusiasm but the food spoke for itself. Would definitely choose this restaurant for fish and chips in the future.
Always forget this place exists. I always forget about this place and then walk past and go crap! I already bought from Coles. So I tried to buy it first this time and the service and variety wasn't that great. Prices are also a bit high.

Also bought some marinara seafood mix from there.
All of their seafood I've tried is fresh including real calamari.

Literally the best fish and chips I have been to in Melbourne. I had the catch of the day (Whiting), it was delicious. The staff was great and it was an overall 5 star place to go.
I admit only ever get the lamb souvlaki on mondays and wednesday because of the $10 deal, comes with a side of chips. Its proper lamb, and its cooked right. I will assume the battered fish would be excellent too, given how good the chips are. Sells fresh fish too. It is better to order when Con is on deck. He's one of those old school greeks, the food comes first.
Decided to try this after reading the reviews..and its true. I had fish here and it is, simple, no-frills and extremely tasty fish and chips! Everything you'd want for a satisfying lunch.
