Review Piatella Cafe Bar - Glen Waverley

Amazing service, firstly. Came in for waffles a few weeks ago - also great service. Great food, great desserts, it is slightly on the expensive side, but worth the money. Lunch menu is a little short and no kids menu though. Dinner menu is much better.

It's the place to go if you are looking for a place that provides a great selection of cakes, waffles and crepes for dessert around Kingsway area. We had the chocolate lava cake and the waffles which were delicious. Portion size of the waffle was big in my opinion. Could probably have 2-3 people sharing one. The only disappointing thing was that it states on the menu that the waffle comes with maple syrup but it was served with golden syrup instead, hence I rated it 4 stars instead of 5.

Friendly staff. Nice store vibe. Well balanced menu with wide variety of options. Hot and cold drinks. Juice bar. AMAZING fries. Dessert bar. site toilets.

The food are comes in a good size, but the lamb are a bit too dry, but it still good overall ❤️the waffle is the most impressive one👍🏻

Its a nice place for a date night. This place is the busies around Kingsway so we glad to tried it out. People said they're popular for the desser which is crepes or waffles and some cakes. We tried their crepes and honestly its just average (Nor special) and we also tried their restaurant's food which is pretty good. Portion smaller than expected. Service is really good as well, but I think because it's very crowded you sit pretty close with other peple, so you can't really hear ur coversation. Price is average as well. Recomend to share the dessert with someone else because it's pretty sweet, quiet big portion and very filling!

Great late night dessert. Good portions with selections on the menu. We had coffee, crepes and waffles. Meal presentation was great however coffee quality was average. Dessert was the winner on this visit! Staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely a popular venue amongst the younger crowd with significant turnover making for a short wait in the line to get in.

There is a restaurant that can accommodate a lot of people. There are many varieties of food and the taste is good. The coffee is also fragrant, but today's octopus has no taste and the price is a bit high.

I came here around 3pm on a Friday, 3 tables were occupied. I ordered a skinny flat white and 2 cakes (sticky date pudding and pistachio cheesecake). The coffee was good, not the best but I enjoyed it. The regular was $4.50 while large was $4.80 so it made sense to get the large. With the coffee being a good price, I assumed the cake would be the same so I was shocked when I found out upon paying that it was $11 a cake!! Maybe it was because ice cream was added but the staff did not explain this to me, had I known, I would not have said yes to ice cream. I also did not realise ice cream was going to be added to both my cakes, he only asked when I ordered the sticky date pudding, when I later added the cheesecake, he didn't ask so I think it's pretty dodgy that he added it. So I'm pretty disappointed with this place, I don't like places that tricks their customer's into paying more. The pudding was mediocre while cheesecake was bad, tasted like thickened cream. I hate wasting food so I struggled with it for an hour then felt sick after that.

Our breakfast was so delicious, the staff were efficient, discrete and most courteous. We returned for an early dinner. Our meals were worthy of our faith in the high level of care in their prep of well thought out menu. The staff were busy again, but maintaining an enjoyably relaxed atmosphere.

Nice atmosphere, helpful staff. Went for breakfast there yesterday, the others breakfasts were great, my poached eggs were still raw, but it was returned to the kitchen where they sorted it out. Coffee was nice flavour but luke warm. I would go again as was good, just not quite perfect...

Only been a few times but it is quickly becoming one of my favourites! Great food, excellent variety of options, lovely staff amd just overall a nice place to eat. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back!

Today I ordered the Piatella chicken burger and was unable to eat it... The first bite was full of cartilage, slightly slimy and when you cut into it - the colour was grey.... My sister in law and I ordered the same burger and we’re BOTH put off and unable to eat them. When I spoke to one of the staff members - we were told that no one had ever complained before and it was NORMAL that this particular cut of chicken was full of cartilage and the grey colour was the marinade. As we were given NO understanding or acknowledgement of our issue, we left paying for the burgers in full and advising this staff member to pass on our concerns to the chef. I’m not one to complain or write poor reviews but her disregard for our satisfaction and the horrible chicken, left me feeling very uneasy and slightly queasy.. I will NOT be returning to Piatella again.

We had a terrible experience. We had decent food and service, but when I complained that the tiramisu felt like jelly, I was told that they never had an issue with it and that they couldn’t refund me. Having worked in customer service for many years, it was disappointing the way that the situation was handled. Will not be going again.

Whilst I had to confirm multiple times over the phone to confirm a booking I'd made for a party of 12, the service was great and the staff were very friendly and accomodating (including bringing out the b'day cake I bought and staff singing happy birthday). Wait time for food was about 30-40 mins which is understandable given it was Sunday lunch, and the size of our group. Have been here on multiple occassions in smaller groups, and food is always great! Only a shame that they do not split bills!

Waffles are 10/10. Staff were super lovely and on point with taking our order and checking in. 100% coming back for more waffles hehe Also the chips were great too. And the garlic bread. Thanks guys!

Would have been a 5 but after coming here hundreds of times over the years... im disappointed :( Mushrooms have gone half the size (i order this everytime) and waffles are not freshly made anymore which is such a shame. If i wanted reheated cold waffles i wouldve gone to coles The waitress said shed get me a fresh batch... 30 seconds later voila... still cold! Dammit :( business is good why cut corners?

I don’t know where to start. We used to come here often. Don’t know why there’s a huge turnover in staff, but I can assume it’s their rude and disrespectful manager/owner. Service was terrible, ON A QUIET DAY, waiters/waitresses ignore you, manager rudely tells you to wait (even though I was patiently waiting and said no stress) and then takes your money when you ready to pay and basically hurries you out the door without a thank you. “Pay me 15 dollars for your stuff. Please”. Honestly don’t work in service industry if you can’t even do the service properly. Food was even worse today, their chips tasted so salty, that even drinking ocean water wouldn’t come close. Saltier than that manager at the cafe. I have never written a review quite like this. I’m usually the person to let it go, but once service is beyond repair, I can’t not say anything.

Coffee was fine by why oh why in this day and age do you have a $15 minimum on eftpos? I’d be happy to pay the extra 30 cents or whatever for your merchant fees, but in a competitive market to ask people to spend at least that much is ludicrous, and frankly arrogant. There are a million coffee places I can go and not get charged any extra for paying by card. It’s 2018.

100% loved everything. Was recommended I go here from a friend and was thankfully told to make a booking which we did. Had a great table with very comfy seating (which is an achievement when two of us are heavily pregnant) Food and coffee came out very quickly, and they even made food off the kids menu for our little man even though it wasn't lunch time. Service was top notch and our lovely waitress couldn't have been more attentive without being annoying. Will be back again for sure 😍😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I had the best smoked chicken salad! It was, by far the most delicious salad I've had: perfect ratio of ingredients, excellent crunch and overall texture and the chicken was succulent -WOW!

The service was great and you can't fault the staff... but that is not the only reason why I gave it a 5 star...the serving is generous and the food is seriously good food...i am going back for sure..

appalled by the service of this cafe. I have gone many times for coffee but the services is disgraceful. To have a minimum of $15 at such a busy cafe like this is disgusting. After having coffee which equated to $8 we went to pay. I was told there was a $15 min and we had no cash. They did not budge at all to try and help us. We walked out to get cash and they said don't worry you can pay with card but charged us a $2 surcharge. In this day and age this is appalling from a cafe that is 'well renowned' in the area. I will not be going back here again. Mocha Jo's has gained a new customer .

Piatella is the perfect spot for dessert, serving up the best waffles - they are definitely a must try!

They charged me $11 (eleven dollars) for two slices of plain bread.

Always my fav place for dessert 🤤🤤The Piatella Special Crepe was as good as always. You can never go wrong with Nutella bananas strawberries and cream. However the Berry Surprise waffle was a disappointment this time. It was way too soggy and the berry compote was a bit too acidic to me. Hopefully it will be better next time 😌

One of my all time favourite places for dessert! Piatella is always buzzing and will often have a line outside its doors. The waffles here are absolutely amazing and are made to order so you know you'll be getting fresh waffles every time. My favourites are the cookies and cream, piatella special and milo + oreo! The warm waffles paired with the cold icecream and yummy toppings are always so heavenly. I have been here so many times and definitely don't see that stopping anytime soon.

Absolutely love coming here at night for the desserts especially the crepes but decided to try it during the day. I ordered the halloumi burger and I was very happy although I wish I could have taken it home as it was very filling (no takeout policy). Although messy, the burger was delicious and something I’d never tried before. Halloumi is salty just a heads up! The chips were DELICIOUS, in my opinion, the best chips I’ve ever had in a cafe setting. As well, pecked a little of my friends pancake with Nutella and strawberries which was decent but I’d rather order something else like the crepes as pancakes were simple. Overall a great experience!

Dined for dessert before watching a movie. I ordered the just strawberries home made crepes. Loved the presentation & they were tasty & filling. Service friendly. Will return as would like to try other menu items.

I did like the restaurant itself, felt quite cosy and the staff were attentive and friendly.<br/>Unfortunately I just found the food a bit..not memorable. Not bad, just not great. <br/>That being said I’d be willing to give it a second chance and maybe try their bbq meats which looked and smelled delicious.

I've been to this place several times now and their food have never disappoint me. Both quantity and quality are excellent.

To make my nourish bowl vegan, they just took away the eggs and charged me same price. Not worth $19 for it. Food tasted good, service was average

(Would rate 3.5) personally I’m just not a huge fan of the menu options here, but I can see the appeal. The waffles were great and so was the service. <br/>The tomato in the baked eggs was just a little too sour for my liking, but the bread was amazing. <br/>

Piatella gets a 2 star rating mainly due to the value for money. I went there for dinner last night with a friend and while the food  - and service - was lovely, I almost gagged when our bill came to $70 for 2 glasses of wine and 2 salads!  $17 for a Greek salad (and a fairly small one at that) with an extra $6 for chicken or $7 for calamari is just exorbitant.  If I'm paying $23 dollars for a salad it better be a sizeable meal, not an entree size. I wouldn't rush back, although the desserts did look very nice (and seemed to be the most popular with patrons).

Came here for desserts! Ordered the mars bar cheesecake served with whip cream, nutella roche macaron and Piatella specialty waffles that has nutella, bananas, strawberries and vanilla ice cream!<br/>All I can say is the desserts was amazing! Cannot fault it at all! Definitely will be back when I want a treat! 👌

Got the crepes!!!!! Always amazing. So fresh and they are very quick to come out. Definitely recommend :)

Well; where do I start?<br/>Service was very slow. Staff just standing and talking.<br/>I ordered scrambled eggs on toast. They can not do my eggs lactose free as they prep all the food in the morning and they don’t change orders on the weekend. So the eggs are not fresh!!<br/>The “manager” spent more time arguing with me about the eggs are fresh and they can’t change the order than actually making the scrambled eggs!<br/>So I ordered the fried eggs on toast.<br/>The eggs where not fresh and was like rubber!<br/>If the chef doesn’t know fresh eggs and can’t fry an egg that’s a massive issue<br/>Oh and I used to be a chef so the excuse’s from the “manager” didn’t wash!<br/>Oh and dust the shelves in you men’s bathroom as there is about a inch worth of dust!<br/>Better luck next time

Worst experience with staff there firstly mixing up cake orders (and not apologising) then telling us to get out accusing us of using a derogatory label on one of their staff (which we never would, as individuals, and especially in front of kids).

ABSOLUTE DREADFUL EXPERIENCE!!<br/><br/>So I went for a surprise birthday dinner for my cousin with about 12 other guests..<br/>The food was good and the night was going really well.. we had completed our meals and were just about ready for cake (THAT WE PROVIDED WITH CANDLES) <br/>we were all waiting and getting ready to sing happy birthday. As they brought the cake out they some how made a mistake delivering it to the wrong table, the waitress (who we later found out was the manager) realised the cake had been taken to the wrong table BUT STILL proceeded to let the other group blow out OUR candles on OUR birthday cake we provided. They then took the cake away from those other customers and took it out the back taking an unusual amount of time then came back out with the candles relit again for us to use, using the same cake the other group just blew all over OUR cake (not to mention how unhygienic that is).. we all felt very uncomfortable and confused on how they managed to mix that up as the cakes were TWO DIFFERENT COLOURS AND TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CAKES!<br/><br/>After this mistake, we received no apologies as to why this had happened but was told that a few drinks had been taken off the bill. After being told that 2 of our guests had gone up to complain about the situation the waitress then told us only 2 drinks would be taken off. (Which is even worse considering the terrible service so far)<br/><br/>After everyone returned back to the tables (still feeling very confused and uncomfortable) we were just having a general talk about other stuff trying to change the mood after all the stuff that had just happened.. we then got approached by another waitress (who was not management) and she told us to “get out” with nothing else said prior to this, because the waitress had apparently overheard us and accused us of calling the manager a derogatory term causing her to be upset. We were all extremely shocked at this allegation as not only it was false, but she repeated the phrase in front of our mothers and 10 year old niece with no hesitation or awareness of her surroundings. <br/><br/>We insisted and continued that she must of misheard what was said as we were just debriefing regarding the nights events, and we would never use such a derogatory term towards anyone! <br/><br/>She then denied telling us to “get out” , insisting she had only asked us to “leave”... eventually she apologised saying she should not have approached our table and accusing us in such a rude manner as she was acting in response to her manager supposedly crying in the back.<br/><br/>Overall it was a horrible experience considering it was the first time I had been to this place and was told it was a lovely place to go.. now I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go to this restaurant especially if you are looking for a place with “good” customer service and we were left dissatisfied with a bad taste in our mouth..

I too attended the surprise birthday dinner last night, where there was a mix up of cakes for the table (not sure how when one was green and one was brown?), and have to say I am appalled and disgusted at the customer service our group received by the staff at Piatella. <br/><br/>Everyone can make mistakes and we completely understand that,  but how about taking some accountability for what has occurred, apologising and providing a suitable resolution to keep us, as your customers at the time, happy and to fix the situation?<br/><br/>The complete lack of communication and sincerity to the situation needs to be brought to the staff's attention at Piatella.  We were not happy with how management dealt with this situation at all. <br/><br/>To top our night off, one of the staff members then decided to abruptly tell us to 'get out' for apparently using a derogative term to refer to her manager, which did not occur at all, and was taken offence to by our group. From a customer service point of view, no person or group should ever be approached by staff members at a cafe/restaurant in this manner. She proceeded to then tell us to lower our voices when we questioned her allegation, and denied how she told us to 'get out', before finally admitting to it. This is not acceptable. <br/><br/>I find it concerning when management can't even own up to their own mistakes and then have their team members act the way our group got to experience. Customer service at this restaurant has completely diminished, and if anyone is looking to go to a restaurant with staff that aren't tentative or respectful to their customers, then try this place.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE VERY DISAPPOINTED <br/><br/>My fiancé organised a surprise birthday dinner for me at Piatella as it WAS one of my favourite restaurants at the Glen due to the menu and staff.<br/><br/>Family and friends had gathered and travelled all the way from the city, Dandenong and the peninsula. I was having a great night and so pleased we could all meet at this restaurant. <br/><br/>There was a mix up when the Birthday cake my sister had bought from the city (plus candles) was served to the table next to us. <br/><br/>It was uncomfortable and we heard the table next to us realising the mix up also. Our cake was taken away from their table for the candles to be relit to be brought back out. I thought this would happen straight away as they just needed to relight the candles but for some reason it took quite some time. No explanation or apology for the delay. Finally, we blew out the correct birthday cake. We all felt a bit weird about it and saw the previous table quickly get up and leave uncomfortably as soon as we began singing happy birthday. It was overall a very awkward situation with no explanation.<br/><br/>A waitress briefly mentioned to the head of the table that some drinks would be taken off the bill for the mix up? We still weren’t told why or how there was a mix up. There was no explanation and once we had served the cake to the table we weren’t offered our cake box back to pack the half of the cake that was leftover. I thought this was odd as usually waiters/waitresses offer this when noticing there is still cake leftover.<br/><br/>Two members of our table spoke to the manager to discuss the situation and actually<br/>asked the manager for her side of the story in her own words. Some compensation was taken off the bill at this point following complaints. <br/><br/>We were not satisfied with how this was managed. <br/><br/>The waitress and manager continued to make excuses such as the cakes looked similar etc - (one was bright green and one was Black Forest?) also then contradicting themselves, saying they were fully aware the cake was for our table but then Someone said it was for the other group etc, hence why they veered to the wrong table. <br/><br/>If you knew the cake was for us why did you then take it to another table and allow someone else to blow out the candles? Basically, they did not own up to their mistake and did not apologise until we complained. <br/>That whole situation was awkward for all and no explanation was given until asked.<br/><br/>We were very confused and dissatisfied at the lack of communication regarding the mix up and discussed this at our table as we felt this was unfair. I must note we were not yelling or using offensive language. <br/><br/>The waitress clearing our plates suddenly approached us telling us it was time for us to ‘GET OUT’ as we had apparently used rude language causing her manager to cry. We were all shocked at this allegation as not only was it false, but she repeated this offensive language in front of mothers and our 10 year old niece, sitting right in front of her. She continued to tell us it was time to get out and brought attention to the fact that we had paid the bill and we had been compensated for ‘almost $50’ due to the mix up. Basically she made us feel unwelcome and several members of our family asked her for an explanation of why we should leave and when this apparent offensive language was used? <br/><br/>We continued to insist that she/her manager have misheard as we were debriefing regarding the nights events, however would never use such language. She then denied telling us to ‘get out’ , insisting she had just asked us to ‘leave’?? Eventually she apologised and admitted that she should not have approached our table accusingly and in a rude manner, as she was acting in response to her manager supposedly crying out the back. <br/><br/>We understand there was a mix up however we are paying customers and have never been told to get out of an establishment. Further, it was offensive to suggest a family group such as ourselves, would stoop as low to name calling. She told us to calm down and lower our voices , yet it was okay for her to approach us and demand us to ‘get out’ . One of our members actually told the waitress it felt like being told by a bouncer to leave a nightclub. <br/><br/>All in all, worst customer service I have experienced ever at the Glen. I am local to the area and have previously enjoyed dining at Piatella for years. <br/><br/>Even with the ‘compensation’ our group spent close to $400. <br/><br/>If you are wanting customer service, this is not the place to go to anymore. <br/><br/>Very disappointed. You ruined my night and birthday and I will not be back.

Went for a surprise birthday dinner that was planned for my cousin with 12 other customers. Whilst waiting for the cake that we had provided, it was delivered to the wrong table. The waitress who we then found out was the manager, realised the cake had gone to the wrong person but still allowed them to blow out the candles on top of the cake before taking it away from them and bringing it to ours. <br/>A few minutes later the manager did not apologise but had briefly mentioned that she would remove some of the drinks from the bill to compensate, when some of our members went to complain she stated it would only be 2. <br/>Another waitress (who was not management) approached our table a few minutes later and told us to ‘get out’ without any prior context because the waitress had allegedly overheard us call the manager a derogatory term causing her to be upset. <br/>Being there as a family with mothers and children, the staff members use of explicit language was extremely inappropriate; nevertheless this did not stop the waitress from repeating the derogatory terms in front of our 10 year old niece. <br/>The staff member had no interest in trying to resolve the issue and lacked consistency in her allegations. <br/>Neither management or staff were capable of basic conflict resolution or customer service. The lack of being able to take ownership of their mistakes, only to then be covered by lies and excuses was extremely disappointing. <br/>Awful customer service - I’m not sure if there’s has been a recent change in management, as I remember the managing staff being lovely and all-in-all more capable of accomodating customers.<br/>Extremely disappointing as I have always been a fan of this cafe and their food but being a frequent customer and someone who works locally, I will now be avoiding this cafe as well as forewarning others to do so.

I had a terrible experience - I was with friends and family for a birthday celebration, and the staff ruined my friend’s birthday by taking our cake to the wrong table (the table beside ours), then taking the cake away from the wrong table (after they sang happy birthday), waited for 40 mins before putting the candles back onto the cake, re-lighting them and sending it out to us... by that time no staff had apologised, they bought out the plates before the cake and didn’t bring a knife to cut it. Rather than owning up to the situation and apologising, some excuses were thrown around (e.g. “the cakes were both in white coloured boxes”, despite one being a brown cake and the other cake being green), a staff member accused us of calling her a really terrible word (the worst swear word) - which was an entirely false accusation- before telling us to “get out”. All in all, it was a truly disappointing experience, I’m horrified at the language used by one staff member in front of a ten-year-old at our table, and sad that the start of my friend’s birthday was ruined . Never coming back again.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. We planned a surprise bday cake for my sister and the waitress ended up accidentally giving the cake (with candles!!)to the table next to us. After letting them sing and blow out the candles, they then took the cake away and brought it back out to us 15mins later. They did not apologise for the mistake until we complained. One waitress then told us to "GET OUT", accusing one of us for calling the waitress a derogatory term (which I wont repeat here). Being a family with young kids, we were offended that we were even accused of using such language. Worst of all, the waitress used such language in front of our 10 year old niece. All in all, worst customer experience ever. If they make a mistake, they will make excuses here. The customer is not right, and you will be asked to leave 🤣 Too bad.. we used to love Piatella. Mustve changed management.

The berry waffle is so good 😍

Food is always good, but service and waiting time is shocking. The waffles were delicious but we also ordered an iced chai and the it came out luke warm, milk was separating and only had like three ice cubes

Very tasty food especially the eggs Benedict. Can be a bit of a wait sometimes but it is worth it. Very friendly staff and atmosphere.<br/>One of the best places for breakfast in Glen Waverley and always very consistent!

Piatella  Cafe bar is a great place for a meal or just a snack. They have a great menu for breakfast lunch dinner and snacks. I love their crepes. The vibe is good here it is busy but usually get a table.

I only come here for their desserts (havent tried their savoury dishes yet)!! Their cakes and macarons are nice but their waffles are the best. I’ve had the matcha, espresso and the usual strawberry and banana waffles (my favourite). They are quite busy on friday and saturday nights so you would probably have to wait 15-20 minutes. Always worth the wait.

Been to this place a few times but lately the quality of service seem to be declining. Just the other day I ordered a waffle special with nutella, banana and strawberry. Noticed there was barely any nutella on the plate. In fact one of the waffle slice was completely dry. When checked with the lady serving she mentioned that's how it is and will need to charge me for additional nutella. $15 for dry waffles! Not worth it!

I was there today after I saw Crêpes on their menu. This was worth the calories!<br/><br/>Very lovely staff. If you sit inside, it does get quite noisy, however, the room is beautiful! The service was outstanding, friendly, fast and attentive.<br/><br/>The Crêpe was all I needed on a rainy winter day. As you can see, they weren't stingy with ingredients!<br/><br/>Coffee was good (I always have soy milk).<br/><br/>It was my first time there today, but definitely not my last...

Great service. Nice atmosphere. Apple pie was nice but too sweet so lost the taste of apples. The Lemon merengue looked magnificent but once again too sweet. Great coffee.

Came on a Tuesday night at around 6pm and the place was pretty busy, it had a family friendly ambience.<br/><br/>✔Generous portion for the American bbq made it worth the $30. Beef brisket was a little dry but I enjoyed having the dipping sauces and the corn on the cob there to make it up.<br/>✔Risotto was flavourful and very rich and cheesy, right up my alley but maybe too much for others.<br/><br/>Waiters and waitresses are nice, we'll be back for dessert another night.

Awesome chicken parmi (Parma). I like how they used prosciutto instead of generic ham-gave it s. Ice saltiness! Garlic bread was nice and buttery. I tried three flavors of the vegan balls and didn’t really like them

I've been to Piatella a couple of times and each time I left pleased and with a full belly. I love the reuben there but unfortunately it's only available for lunch. I tried the seafood pasta too which was awesome but I have to admit I still dream of that reuben perfection!

I caught up with a friend here for coffee and enjoyed it so much that 1 hour turned into 2. The coffee was good and apple crepes hot, fresh and delicious. Service was friendly and fast, and seating and ambience was spot on. I’ll be back!

It's a shame this place doesn't give take away boxes for customers, and rather their customers waste food...needs to change. The food here isn't all that bad, but a negative experience overall

Attentive service with good ambience and delicious food. <br/><br/>Piatella serves a variety of delicious cuisines, our party of 6 didn’t have have complaints. The staff were happy to accomodate for vegetarian guests that requested meat to be omitted from their pasta dishes. <br/><br/>The beautiful, tender pork shoulder BBQ is a generous serving size, the meat was lightly flavoured with a Self serve of smokey BBQ sauce and aioli. The bed of beer battered chips remained crunchy and delicious regardless of the pork resting on top of it. The sliver of chipotle mayo served with the Corn was also delicious I only wish there was more of it. <br/><br/>The Mediterranean lamb salad was also a well balanced meal. A truly satisfying and filling “healthy” option. The lamb was perfectly cooked but, slightly too salty for my liking. However, it didn’t bother me too much to stop me from enjoying the meal. Seafood platter and linguini marinara - both awesome.<br/><br/>Seafood platter had everything you could want, and funnily enough one of my favourite parts was under all the octopus, scallops and mussels, there was rice which mixed well with the base to form a creamy risotto.<br/><br/>Marinara had the perfect level of creaminess balanced out with a light spice. <br/><br/>Service was also perfect. Everything was 5/5, except maybe the value is more of a 4/5 given the average size of the linguini dish.

Dessert heaven for someone with a sweet tooth like me. They have a wide selection of waffles, cakes & more! I wanna try them all! Desserts comes with ice cream or whip cream. Recommend trying their waffles, very nice & the portion will definitely fills you up. <br/><br/>They also have breakfast, lunch & dinner menu that looks really good, will definitely return & try them out!

Always a great dessert place in Glen Waverley after dinner!<br/><br/>The atmosphere is always bustling. Lighting is a bit dim but it fits the mood.<br/><br/>The desserts were tasty & full of sweetness. The Nutella crepe was delicious, packed with Nutella & strawberries. The crepe itself was nice and soft.<br/><br/>Not the biggest fan of the chocolate cake, it was pretty dry (probably from sitting in slices in the display cabinet).<br/><br/>The ice cream served on both dishes tasted a little low quality, artificially sweet & not very creamy (more icy).<br/><br/>The service was lovely & moves us from a high table to a booth when one became available. The food came out in good time & nicely presented.

Went here at 9:30pm on a Sat night and it was still very busy, waited 5 mins for a table and the service was great. We got the just strawbery waffle and the milo & oreo waffle - we liked the strawberry one more but you do you, advice: just get one waffle between 2 people (you get 3 waffles in a serving and a big scoop of ice cream plus the topping).

Love coming here for coffee, dessert and main meals. The food has always been consistently good in the many times I’ve dined here and reasonably priced and portioned. Prime and central location that makes it a joint that’s always super busy with wait lines. But t staff are always friendly and helpful.

Always a delight to come to Piatella, really nice location in the heart of Glen Waverley. Amazing food but most importantly amazing desert. The staff are extremely friendly and it's on the main strip of cafes so it's perfect for a night out with your friends, family, etc. Favourite is the crepes but everything I've tried here so far has been delicious. Definitely reccomend coming down if you have never been before. Great vibes.

Been here not too long ago, food is quite nice! The desserts are super nice!! I also recommend trying out the waffles here too ! Not the best hot cakes I’ve tried but they were still super yummy !

Pretty good place! Sometimes a bit too busy so the wait is long. Their dessert is good, especially the crepes. The pasta is average. Overall decent place!

How can there be so many staff doing so little? <br/>Disappointing experience this evening, felt rushed and unwelcome at Piatella. <br/>Ordered the Oreo cheesecake - meh (and a French vanilla slice but they didn’t have any) it tasted mass produced and overly chilled and a thick Italian style hot chocy, which was when served was a totally normal hot chocy.

Piatella is the one and only place I would go to for waffles. Enough said.<br/><br/>I highly recommend this place! It can get pretty busy so it's best to go earlier rather than later. Well, what are you waiting for?!

Took my wife here the other day for lunch and had the Reuben. I don’t usually write reviews but wow! That was the best Reuben I’ve had in years. I should know, I’ve spent 5 years in New York.

Went here for dinner last night. Food was great had the specials board steak and it was cooked perfectly. <br/><br/>The staff were very friendly and accommodating will definitely be back!

Went to Paitella tonight to have a lovely meal as a substitute for Valentine's Day.<br/>Jess our server was very helpful and accommodating to my wifes dairy intolerance.<br/>The Specials Board steak was so tender and paired well with the vegetables it came with.<br/>The Beef Short Ribs were also fantastic with a lovely smoked crust yet tender and moist on the inside.<br/>Fantastic night, Jess really went above and beyond!

Have been here many times, they're cakes are amazing, they have a good breakfast menu and their coffee is also good, service is sometimes good sometimes not so good, but overall nothing to deter visiting again. it's always enjoyable.

Usually a regular at Piatella in Glen Waverley, until our recent visit. Ordered an ice tea and it came with a complimentary FINGERNAIL in the drink! My friend almost gagged as she pulled it from her mouth!!! Her face went green with shock and disgust!!!! When we raised it with the wait staff they simply offered to wipe the $4 drink off our order. There was no apology from the manager until we requested to speak to the manager - who at that point offered to waive only the $4 drink and replace it with another ice tea (probably with another nail on the side). When we raised how disgusting it was and stated the compensation was not appropriate, he then apologised and did not offer to waive our entire bill until we demanded - it wasn’t even a big bill! We are pretty DISGUSTED and upset with whole situation will not return anytime soon absolutely revolting situation and service!!!! Very disappointed that we only got an apology from the manager AFTER we prompted to speak to him!! No initiative and no courtesy at all!!! NOT ACCEPTABLE AT ALL!!! We feel sick to our stomachs for my friend and how they handled the whole situation!!!!

Piatella Cafe Bar sits in the heart of the eating strip in Glen Waverley and that means parking will be a b***h. However, when we got inside, it was very cosy and welcoming. We put our order through the day before since we had a group of 7 and needed to finish lunch in 1.5hours. Unfortunately, our food did not arrive until 1 hour later without any explanation or the staff coming over to let us know which was very disappointing. Let’s move onto the food.

American Reuben style sandwich was hugeee!! It could probably feed 2 “medium” eaters. The chips were really nice and fresh! Pancakes were really sweet, but made a great dessert!

Piatella is good for any time of the day from breakfast, dinner to dessert. Probably one of the best dessert places for crepes and waffles in the area. There are heaps of options on the menu and the interior of the place is very warm and vibey

Have been here a few times and we had the seafood platter one time and then the meat platter the next. The food is pretty fantastic and you have to make sure you book as it gets pretty crowded!<br/><br/>We also had some crepes to share...super choice!<br/>Will be back for sure!

A good place for deserts though! We had dinner here... our bad! The portions are quiet huge ... the chicken was a slightly overcooked and the lamb could be a little leas tomatoey... overall is was good but could be a better experience for dinner ... ☺️

Can't go wrong for sweet treats at Piatella. Such a great location. Great indoor and outdoor seating to cater for all weather conditions. Service is good, dessert portions are generous. Good for sharing

Located in the heart of Glen Waverley, this cosy and casual cafe bar hosts an array of platters, cakes and beverages to suit all tastes. As a visitor from the past, what was great had now evolved to be better as the chef's techniques has created flawless dishes with perfect flavours and textures. Service is amazing and attentive; they were happy to provide a better table without asking during our visit. The ambiance is a mix of wooden and industrial. The front area has a cosy bar feel whereas the back area is brighter and quieter.

I got the pan fried gnocchi, in my opinion it was quite dry and also I did not enjoy the flavours of the dish. The lamb shoulder was also dry and not as tender as i would of liked.

This place is one of my favourite cafes in Glen Waverley! I'd come here in the morning for their breakfast menu and then grab some amazing ribs for dinner feast!

Piatella Cafe Bar is a restaurant has the vibes and menu of a versatile all-day restaurant that seems to be packed with locals all day long, with people just having a cute dinner date, to those celebrating a special occasion, or just a nice catch up over some coffee and a slice of their drool-inducing cakes from the cabinet. Their dinner specialty is the American BBQ grill menu, but also features a wide range of options from Italian pasta to Greek kofta. Whilst it’s sometimes disconcerting to have a restaurant with so many options, Piatella Cafe Bar does everything well, so it’s no surprise that it seems to be the go-to place for Glen Waverley locals.

Great ambience and attentive at this lovely styled restaurant. Came here to catch up with a friend I always come here to catch up with a friend over their amazing coffees the aroma is there and the thickness in the milk is just right. Tried out the seafood platter and wow that blew me away so many flavours and cooked so well. I'll definitely be back they pay attention to every detail here.

Came here for a quick catchup with a couple of friends. The chicken avo burger is huge! The burger itself consists of juicy chicken thigh pieces, coleslaw and some avo. Whilst it was delicious at first, it became a bit sickening towards the end. <br/>The side of beer battered chips was delightful, fresh and crunchy! (And also comes with some dipping sauce). <br/>Considering the busy rush on a Sunday afternoon, we found the waiting time for food to be quite reasonable. Staff were friendly and attentive.

The egg was cooked perfectly, combined with the crunchiness of the pine nuts and the delightful smashed avo; it was the perfect combination. The eggs Benedict with pulled pork combo was clever. The pulled pork was so juicy and tender. Dessert - the Piatella special was delicious and enjoyable. <br/>Service : 3.5/5. It was a busy cafe. We had to wait in line for a table but it wasn’t too long. Servers were efficient in taking orders; however they took awhile to bring us our water. Had to raise my hand a few times to get their attention before someone actually came with a bottle of water. <br/>Will definitely come back again to try the pastas! <br/>

Friendly staff, kid friendly and good space for a big crowd. We had breakfast and the eggs were perfectly cooked. <br/>Everyone was happy with their dishes. The pancakes had fairy fluff on it. Overall very good.

This little cafe was one of my favourite places to go when I was in uni and since then they have really up the game in terms of the presentation and the variety of the food. <br/><br/>There is lots of space for larger gatherings and a nice place to have brunch with the family. <br/><br/>I’m completely obsessed with the drinks here! Highly recommend grabbing a cocktail or two with your food!

I went for the King Towers. While it wasn't vertiginous, it certainly was rich! This was incredibly creamy and crispy and oh-so-yummy but I think it should be a dish for sharing! I especially liked the homemade rosti (made with properly grated potato) with its crispy crust, and I loved the Kessler bacon. The bacon was scrumptious - thickly cut, with a hint of smokiness, the lovely fattiness and it tasted like proper pork (none of this water-injected bacon here!). The dish also came with slices of avocado and a good smothering of Hollandaise sauce which really upped the luxe factor to the dish.

The customer service is always great here with lovely staff and very helpful. This is always one of our favourite cafes to visit when we are in Glen Waverley.

They decreased their portions significantly. Their chicken parma and ribs used to be huge, now it barely fulfilled a single serving. <br/>Nevertheless, its still good food and they have one of the best crepes & waffles. Just very little portions.

One of the more popular cafes on this strip, Piatella do feature a number of desserts and sweets as well as a variety of mains.<br/><br/>The coffee is usually nice and strong - bitter, dark and caramely. I quite the coffee here compared to a corner cafe across the road.<br/>Can't say the same about desserts though. The berry waffle was absolutely drowned in thick, sweet berry compote and doused in maple syrup, it was a bit sickening. <br/><br/>Display desserts are supplied from a third party, and always seems a bit dry.<br/>Nevertheless, they're always quite busy and during peak times on Fri/Sat night, you mind find a messy line at the entrance.

Had Father’s Day dinner here with the fam and enjoyed our meal. The staff are very friendly and the food is good too! We tried the:<br/>Pork / Lamb/ beef short Ribs: We tried all 3 as their American bbq meals sounded amazing. It came with coleslaw, onion rings, chips ( little soggy) , corn on the cob ( this was my favourite) and the ribs. Great portion size and all meats were cooked well! The beef short rib was the best! <br/>Chicken Parma: Good old school Parma, the chicken was cooked well. Chips were slightly soggy as it was under the Parma. <br/>salmon: salmon was cooked well and all the veggies with it were also cooked with a lot of care. <br/>crepes: must try! Some of the best crepes I’ve had! Heaps of toppings to chose from. Great dessert to share with family or friends

Went here during father’s day. It was very crowded, but the staffs were very helpful and friendly. Ordered some waffles and soy latte. I really like their waffle. I ordered matcha and bananarama ones. They taste really good, not too sweet. However for the soy latte, it just taste okay. I really like the ambience, although crowded, you can still enjoy the food and the interior

We had desserts here to celebrate Fathers Day. I unintentionally brought a takeaway drink from another store and a staff member insisted that the drink be put away in their fridge. Just by her tone of voice, it sounded like she wanted to kick me out of the premises if I didn't agree to have my drink taken away. I felt like a child as my drink got confiscated and only got it back when the bill was paid. We bought desserts! it's not like we were occupying the tables and eating our own meals. In my opinion, the staff member could have handled the situation a lot better. A gentle reminder (something along the lines of) we don't accept outside drinks but it's ok for today (given it's Father's Day) please keep that in mind for future visits. Her interrupting us while we were having a good time to take away my drink ruined our experience. I don't think I'll be returning here.

Great service, and great friendly staff. Food was delivered fast and the great value. Highly recommend the crapes for those coming here. The environment is also great especially with the extension they added last year.

The cakes and desserts from here were so delicious. Favourite has to be the cheesecake and the lemon curd in the meringue was so tasty ! Unfortunately the red velvet cake was slight dry and I couldn’t really taste the red velvet flavour

Excellent table service, enjoyed lunch and dinner menus, not a massive fan of the waffles ( that’s just personal preference) I enjoyed the crepes and cakes in the display cabinet much more. <br/>Menu pricing is a bit expensive but if you go with friends and share all the food it is much more enjoyable.<br/>Be prepared to wait for >30min for ur dish as that’s roughly about how long the savoury dishes take to cook, not great if you’re in a rush. <br/>Desert comes out faster but also depends what time you’re eating, it is really packed during dinner time on weekends as all the movie goers will just eat here. <br/><br/>Overall great ambience, friendly staff, great food, choose time of dining carefully if you don’t like to wait.

They do need more improvement on training, especially in customer service. The store is just half full with only two customer waiting to be serve. We have been waiting over 10 mins for a staff to come back to us saying that they are fully book out. That’s fine, after that I was given a table outside when I was about to wait out to my table, I was told that my table was given out to a lady queue behind me who have a dog. What a good explanation. Very disappointed. I will never ever going in there again.

Apparently the waffles here are great. I didn’t think it was all that good so so. Their big breaker is also ordinary and $$$ for what you get. The pasta was also ordinary Nothing much else can be said here it’s popular because of location.

Always love to come here for my favourite waffles with ice cream on top . So delicious and you can’t stop eating . Highly recommend their dessert !

Great variety of different food- large menu with lots of vegetarian, gluten-free, vegan options. Been here countless times and every time the service, food and atmosphere (though lively) is awesome
