suuuper delish laksa with really rich, punchy coconut flavours. a bit pricier compared to other laksa places on kingsway (such as grand tofu) but the soup definitely hits the spot! i recommend the vegetarian one as it comes with heaps of seasonal veg - their roti is pretty delish too!
Laksa King is called this for a reason. They serve up HUGE YUMMY nourishing bowls of delicious laksa and they do not skimp on the noodles!!! 🍜
Also, they offer fantastic, fast service, friendly staff and great recommendations - I loved the kumquat drink 👍
My advice for laksa King is GO HUNGRY. Don't eat beforehand you won't need it! Gorge on the deliciousness of this awesome place. 💕💯
Came to Laksa King for coconut rice nasi lemak glory however deprivation of coconut rice robbed me of my magic nasi lemak moment. Given the namesake, I settled for a chicken curry laksa and it certainly did not disappoint. The broth was deliciously jam packed with rich flavour, the chicken was soft and supple, the eggplant smoky and perfectly charred, and noodles bitey. Left feeling exceptionally satisfied and warmed up from a coldish summers day in Melbourne. Keen to come back to reignite my nasi lemak moment in the near future.
Chicken curry laksa was fantastic. The chicken was buttery soft and the soup itself was full of flavor. Would recommend even with the wait.
Tried the Glenny laksa king for the first time. Picked the classic Hainan chicken rice - decent chicken, amazing chili sauce and nice veg sides. Rice itself was a bit sticky/overcooked but decent overall.
The beef Curry laksa isn't traditional but the flavours were good. Serving was a bit small otherwise decent place.
My all time favourite Malaysian restaurant. Although there may be a long queue in the weekends, but the food definitely worth the wait. There are some special dishes which is not on the menu that you need to ask for the availability on the day. Some food I strongly recommend:
1. Har mee with thin flat noodles (Noodle soup in prawn base)
2. Seafood claypot noodle soup (Special menu)
3. Clamp with ginger sauce (Special menu)
4. Ipoh Fried Noodle
Excellent laksa. The beef is absolutely outstanding and so is the seafood. I come usually on my way home from doing the 1000 steps, never had a bad meal here. The staff are excellent too..the manager always comes and checks to see everything is ok.
Went to Laksa King Glen on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too busy just yet. Service was very quick and friendly. I ordered a satay chicken skewer and plain roti bread, they were both really good. My dry noodle with prawn wonton was beautiful as well. Also really loved the milk tea. Friend wasn't very happy with her food but I guess she just ordered something she didnt like.. Overall a nice experience!
Delicious food at cheap prices. The portion sizes are also very generous. The service was super friendly and efficient, as well as being nice about our waiting for a friend who didn't end up coming. The restaurant gets very busy on a Saturday night so I assume it is best to book ahead.

Thanks for the meal!
Ordered the chicken laska and ipoh fried noodles
The laska broth was complex soothing curry flavour and absolutely delicious. The noodles were perfectly adanete too. The sauce of the ipoh noodles was slightly a bit too runny for my taste and I didn't get the smokey wok flavours that I was hoping from the noodles. Will be back for laska!
I come here for the fish head curry. 9 times out of 10 it is spot on. Nom nom nom nom.
We have tried some other dishes on the a la carte menu and they were all fresh and satisfying. Char kway teow always has a lot of wok hei.
The service of the manager, nick is on point even thought it’s busy.

I don't always laksa but when I do ❤️❤️❤️
LOVES
x Most dishes are under $20-25 and a single dish will be enough to fill me up!
x All the classic Chinese Malay dishes on the menu
x Delicous creamy broth in my curry laksa
x Coconut Ice cream was absolutely yum
x No long lines for the places because the venue is quite spacious
x Loved the herbally flavour of the bak kut teh, super clear broth (might not be for everyone)
FEEDBACK
x The panna cotta was a bit flavourless, was hoping for a strong coconut taste
x A bit disappointed in the chendol as it was served classicly in a cup but in a bowl and the serving was a bit smaller than expected
Tried this place for the first time yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the food! The curry laksa broth was authentic and satisfying. There is a variety of different curry laksa to choose from with different meat. We also got the roti with chicken which came with some salad inside and was well balanced
They don’t call themselves Laksa King for nothing... 👑👑

First sip of the Asam Laksa soup and I already know that Laksa King is going to be my go to place if I’m ever craving Malaysian food.
As a Malaysian I can confidently tell you that this is as authentic as it gets — we ordered Seafood Laksa 🦞, Fish Fillet Laksa 🐟 and Asam Laksa 🌶 , and they tasted like home 😭💖
Their Curry Laksa series go heavy on the ‘santan’ (coconut milk), so if you like santan, good news for you! Generous slices of fish fillet, scallops, chicken slices etc and very fresh, love it. I’m personally an asam laksa girl, and I can say that this is probably the best asam laksa I’ve had in Melbourne thus far. Soup was very flavourful with a nice balance of the sourness and spiciness of the asam.
Other than their signature laksa series Laksa King basically serves up the best of Malaysian (+Chinese) food including curry fish head 🐟, nasi lemak 🍛, roti canai 🍞, sweet and sour pork 🐖 and for drinks, even teh tarik ☕️ — incredible.
Flavourful, decadent and soothing bowls of absolute pleasure disguised as laksa. No other way to describe the laksa experience here. I keep coming back for more, and every visit leaves me more in love with everything about this establishment. Excellent service and excellent food, there's nothing more to say about Laksa King.
My first time to visit the Glenny’s outlet. Have high expectations as I’ve been to the Flemington outlet for many years. I had the Assam Laksa and my friend had the chicken laksa. They are the same quality as the one in Flemington. Love it that they are now open on the other side of Melb. Will be a regular.
Been to this place many times with the family. The quality of the food is consistent and filling. The only con is the waiting for a table and it's always busy when we turn up. I have tried a variety of dishes in my many visits - laksa, noodles, rice, dessert and special. All have been filling except for the special dish (king prawns). This is my goto place for casual dining and recommended. Will be back!
If I’m ever craving laksa, this is usually my go to place. They give a generous portion of prawns and the broth is always packed with flavour. The mix of noodles has a great texture too. Very casual dining atmosphere, but great for a quick bite.
An absolutely fantastic restaurant. Such wonderful food and equally wonderful staff. I absolutely love this restaurant. Make sure you try the Lobak. You can thank me later!!!
5 star for the quality and portion of the food, I dined this one and the one in north west branch. I liked this shop better as not that crazy busy, may be the price is slighter higher, it is fair considering the deco, cleanness, table service and location etc. curry fish head is the super star, we must order every times ! Service is good compare to other Chinese restaurant service standards, hope in future they could waive card payment surcharges
Im really glad my aunty took us here! I had the chicken curry laksa. So delicious!!! I am in love with the soup. Slightly spicy and so enjoyable to eat! :) yum yum yum.
This place is such good value. Nice ambience and most of all, the staff are so attentive and kind. Highly recommend the boneless chicken curry and the curry laksas. Love it!!
Looking for a quick bite before catching a train this restaurant was the perfect solution. Directly across from the station we wandered in. We stopped at the sign telling us to wait to be seated and waited an uncomfortably long time before being approached. Once seated we advised the waiter than we didn’t have a lot of time and they didn’t muck around. The food was delivered quickly and was very good. My daughter said the chicken & corn soup was great, my fried kuay teow was nice & hot and the price was reasonable. We will come back.
Great place to enjoy some light flavoured and fresh Malaysian food. I wish they had fried chicken for their Nasi Lemak like some other places do.
Love Laksa King.
Laksa King all the way!!!
My personal favourites are ... everything on the menu. seriously.
Never had a bad meal. Love their laksa, having being following them all the way from Flemington to Glen waverley.
Hate the wait, you can book a table, however, still need to wait for your booked table once you get there. totally worths it
FAST Food Review
Have frequented the original Laksa King in Flemington and this was the first time in the Glen Waverley outlet. Menu was similar and food was almost as good. The Roasted Duck Fried Rice with Truffle Oil and the Spring Chicken Rice was winners. The BBQ Pork and Won Ton Dry Noodles and Minced Pork Noodles were delicious too. Pretty busy on the weekend but the wait was not too long. Mixed bag with service, one server was very helpful and another was not very responsive. Overall great to have Laksa King without having to crossover Melbourne City.

Not costing much too enjoy a nice dinner? Well, this place is the spot to be. Curry laksa is not like ones you can find in any other restaurants, the mild curry flavor dips into a soup of multiple spices, gives people a complex after taste. Fried rice ain’t the best but will do, since it’s not the place to enjoy rice. Smoked crispy duck is well prepared, not oily but juicy.
Top notch food quality, taste, good size/volume and service.
We go there for lunch or dinner at least once a week.
Good value for money.
Food quality especially seafood (local prawns and fish) is very high and fresh.
Service is always good and not overbearing. Love them.
Very good Food, great Customer Service, its a pleasure going back. All the dishes are good. It can get quiet busy Friday and Saturday nights
We had lunch here and we were very satisfied with the food and the service. The combination laksa was huge and the food variety was good and mostly yummy, love the seafood, we also ordered a rice dish (chicken ribs with five spices), it was also very yummy, I love the seasoning. Overall very happy with our experiences.
Visited Laksa King for the first time with a group of friends on a Friday evening. Knowing how big name the restaurant is, we wisely chose to book our table in advance.
Preferring rice over noodles, I went with the beef rendang nasi lemak which certainly surprised me. The beef rendang, the coconut rice, the sambal and the peanuts came as expected. The anchovies were tomato based and uncrispy and there was an additional side of pineapple pickled vegetables.
Speaking for my own dish, the pricing is around 20% more than your typical Malay-Singaporean diner and not much different. But worth the visit as my friends got to try their much celebrated laksa.
I enjoyed my meal here a lot. We ordered the beef randang, five- spice chicken ribs, blachan kangkong, Malaysian curry fish head and fish head curry laksa. All of the food tasted great, and was definitely worth the price. It was enough food for 8 people and definitely tasted very authentic. We also ordered the banana fritters and sago pudding. I loved the sago pudding, and the fritters were definitely good too. No complaints.
Well i like their seafood laksa (i forget to take pict of it)! The spiciness is fit for me who doesn’t really like spicy foods. The portion of the laksa is enormous. I also ordered their shrimp dumpling which was good too but a lil bit spicy.
The aroma of curry, the smoothness of coconut milk and the steam of soup is what 20 years of experience has perfected over it's life at Laksa King. Upon seating at tables, it's modern interiors shine vibrantly through the room priding a warmth, best suited to it's spicy dishes. Dishes packed with flavour hold tender meats and seafood that melts at each bite. The chef's cutting and plating techniques are consistent as they bring what was a common street dish into a contemporary period. Staff were helpful and friendly to provide the options of menu specials and were attentive to customer's need despite the busy environment. Located perfectly in Glen Waverley where diners gather, I'm sure Laksa King will stay for years to come.
Last night I went to Glen Waverley to catch up with a friend for dinner. As we both hadnt been to GW in a very long time we decided on Laksa King because its a place that we both had not tried and actually very keen to try as we had ever only been to the original Laksa King in Flemington.
🔆LOCATION🔆
I took the train to Glen Waverley and as I walked out of the station it was the first restaurant I saw upon exiting! What a great corner location for Laksa King.
🔆SERVICE🔆
We walked into the restaurant at 7.45pm and it was already 90% full, on a Tuesday night! Oh my goodness. We were seated promptly and given water and menu straight away.
An elderly gentleman by the name of Eric which I presume is the owner, came up to talk to me and spoke in Cantonese. I was surprised as I was talking to my friend in English. Haha! I responded to him in Cantonese and we had a lovely chat. I noticed that he would speak to customers to ensure they are okay and taken care of. Very nice to see this kind of service its so rare now.
🔆MENU🔆
The menu was quite extensive with soo many options! My girlfriend was keen to try the curry laksa and I also wanted something with soup base. We ended up ordering:
Teh Tarki, $4.50
(Literal translation 'pulled tea', hot milk tea)
Seafood Curry Laksa, $17.50
(King prawns, calamari, scallops & fish fillet)
Fish Fillet Noodles, $15.50
(Deep fried rockling, vermicelli, picked vegetables, tofu & tomatoes in fish broth)
🔆PRICE🔆
The prices were very reasonable give the large generous servings of our meals. We could have easily shared one between the two of us.
🔆VERDICT🔆
My friend and I absolutely enjoyed our dining experience and I will definitely go back and try other items on the menu.
My friend had the Seafood Curry Laksa said the soup was very flavoursome and authentic flavours (she should know coz she's Malaysian hehe).
I've never had Teh Tarik and didnt try the drink that my friend ordered however she said is a sweet tea drink and she thoroughly enjoyed it.
I ordered the Fish Fillet Noodles. There were 6 very decent sized fried rockling fish fillets which were very fresh and delicious. The Fish broth was light and full of flavour. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with this dish.
Overall a must visit if you are in Glen Waverely area for Malaysia Chinese cuisines
.
This place should be more highly rated! The laksa was absolutely delicious. Service was quite lovely as well. Need to visit again for sure as their menu looks great.
Service is professional, fast and friendly. Noticed that it can get quite busy during peak times so go before the line gets long. Food is really good, servings are generous. Teh tarik was amazing! Will be back
Great food! Great service! Having been to the restaurant many times, never get disappointed, especially recommend their seafood dishes, whatever the dish come with seafood? Always fresh and in large potion!
The food was absolutely amazing, the staff were great and i can't give it a higher rating or recommendation for anyone looking for fantastic laksa.
My partner and I ordered the seafood laksa and the chicken laksa. Both were delicious and very filling. Customer service was lovely and we would definitely return for any future laksa cravings.
Great Laksa same quality as the one in Flemington. Was the first time I saw the beef variation of it and it tastes great 👍. Also had the Ice Kachang for dessert which is good for sharing
Got the Roti Chicken Rolls and Nasi Lemak Special with curry chicken option. The Roti Chicken Rolls has a well rounded taste to it when combined with the sauce, the style and texture reminded me of popiah. The nasi lemak portion was huge, very generous with the chicken, best part it's de-boned! Sambal was towards the sweeter variation instead of spicy. Overall very happy with this visit and would come back again to try other dishes.
Went back the following week to try their char siew with egg noodle. Overall pretty good with generous portion. Char siew is of a fattier piece which keeps it juicy and not dry, it's also cut thicker so you get a nice chunk of meat each bite. Only gripe I'd have is that it's too bright red looking and lack that charred exterior.
The fish fillet curry laksa is delicious. The curry base is just a tad spicier than The Grand Tofu, both good in their own ways. I enjoyed the fish fillet especially as it was thick, meaty, boneless, and it had a nice bite to the exterior.
On a separate visit, it's the chinese new year of 2019! This place supplies yee sang/prosperity toss so had to get one those to celebrate. Very unorthodox ingredients used for this yee sang, yam and leafy salads were used which when mixed together turned out looking like a salad itself. Not the most traditional ingredients sourced but tasted not bad.
Been on my restaurant list for a while as it is often crowded with people waiting for a table. Weren’t disappointed. Had to wait for a table, but not for too long - increased our expectation! Manager and wait staff very friendly. Had a laksa- quite spicy - any hotter and it would have been too hot. Very reasonable- $13 for a laksa.
I've been here twice in the last week. Ordering the Chicken Laksa both times. Usually I'm hesitant to order the same thing twice at a new place, however I'm hooked, and in this case almost sure to return within the next 7 days! the staff are super friendly, Elaine was a gem!
Excellent customer service from the waiters and manager. Food is very authentic, full of malaysia taste, but not totally the same because of localisation. A bit pricey but have a large portion, good value for money.
This restaurant surely lives up to its name! We've tried the one here and in Flemington a couple of times, and boy I must say they served the best curry laksa in town (bold statement, I know 😁).
The place is in the heart of Glen Waverley and right in front of the train station. Spacious and clean are the words that perfectly described this place.
We had seafood laksa, fish fillet laksa, eye fillet laksa, and kway teow.
Panda 🐼🐼🐼
- Eye fillet laksa is succulent and well seasoned. Top notch!
- Love the kway Teow. Balanced seasoning, not too strong or too light, just perfect.
- The curry laksa is packed with flavour
- Spacious place
- Sambal is a must have!
Pandont ❌❌❌
- Inconsistent taste, sometimes the curry laksa tastes bland.
- Squid is tough, struggling a bit to chew the squid
Will definitely be back here again. It's my number 1 place for curry laksa.
1st time visit even though they’ve been in GW for over a year. The hesitation has always been the pricing as it’s seemed much higher than what’s available around.
We had the hor fun and the chicken curry laksa. I must say that I’m impressed. Surprisingly though. I’ve been very jaded with the Malaysian offerings of late. The laksa tasted fresh. They used chicken breast which was cooked to perfection. The breast was juicy and tender. Broth was flavorful. They provided samba without being asked and the laksa was finished with a julienne of laksa leafs which gives it authenticity. Hor fun had the taste of the wok. Seafood tasted fresh and very nicely cooked. Every morsel made sense. Again they provided the green pickled chili without having to be asked. They were also pretty generous with it. The element which ties it all together, the sauce had the right amount of egg in it. Overall, very good.
One of the best fish head curries I have ever had! The food here was extremely flavourful, the portions were generous and ordering a bowl of chicken rice is the same price as normal rice! The restaurant was quite busy but the 2 of us were seated quite promptly. The staff were very friendly as well. Will definately come back!!
We had Veg laksa, chicken laksa & Nasi lemak. Everything was tasty & fresh. Lovedddd the veg one as I am trying to get more veggies in. The chicken & nasi lemak was tasty as well. The staff was friendly. Location was neat & clean with bright lighting. Looking forward to going back there again.

Great food for great price!
Location- Laksa King is located right at the foot of Glen Waverley station and is super easy to spot. The place is generally packed and it’s easy to know why.
Food- Paid $13 for a veg laksa and couldn’t finish it. The quantity is great, the food tastes great and the price is great too!
Service- the staff have quite a hands off approach- I prefer it that way. A gentleman came to ask how the food was etc but there wasn’t the constant pestering about more food/ order.
Overall, will be back for more Laksa!
Came here with some friends to try their pad Thai I heard so much about. I was not disappointed
Definitely one of the best I have had. We also shared dessert and had the sago a little on the sweet side as I am not a fan of dessert but very tasty
Does an amazing laksa and service is always great. The broth of the laksa has a great balance of flavour and oil. The vegan laksa is full of flavour and ingredients. You can tell that they put a lot of care into their ingredients and process. Definitely worth the couple of dollars extra they charge
Always have laksa there to remind me of Malaysian style. It always tastes nice and the boss is nice as well. The crew in the store were friendly n make u feel being welcomed
The name speaks for itself, the kings of making laksa! The fish fillet laksa is amazing, the creamy coconut laksa soup is on point i could drink the whole bowl. Favourite laksa joint.
The entrée was the most tender roast pork I have ever had, yummy! Went for the chicken laksa for the main which was very good and really filling. Others enjoyed the seafood laksa. The roti could have been a little more full bodied. And they served beer. Tasty favoured ice cream dessert. The environment is ok, frequented by Asian clientele which is a good sign. Would revisit if closer.
Huge serving, very generous food portions. Came here with family for dinner last time. :)
I ordered the Veggie Curry Laksa while my fams had the Chicken & Seafood Curry Laksa, Fish Head Noodles & some other dishes, mine was very rich & yummy, I couldn't finish the whole bowl due to its size so my brother helped me for the remaining haha. 😂
I remembered the air con had some problem last time & all of us were sweating so much while eating our spicy dishes 😂😂 It was very hot & suffering but luckily the staffs there tried to fix it & it was back to normal again hooray!
Service was nice & prompt, the place has a nice decor, it was always packed with people during peak hours. Overall is great, would definitely come back for their other dishes. :D ❤
We tried 2 kind of Laksa..chicken and fish. The fish is really nice, the chicken one is so average. Not sure if the prices are worth it. Next, is the chicken satay..fried not grilled or barbeque..not what I expected in an Asian restaurant..more for takeaway food court quality which I will gladly pay their cheaper prices. Finally the fish sliced soup noodle, it is nice as well...but..there are quite a few similar restaurants there. Nice is not going to cut it. However, with their plentiful parking next to Dan Murphy, and their modern deco and plentiful seatings, I guess we might return again...if I can't get parking nearer to the main street.
