Review Kimchi Hut - Glen Waverley

Maud Hu
Very happy about our Korean lunch break! The portions are huge, we might’ve over ordered... I loved the sizzling chicken cheese hot plate, and I saw the table next to us ordering bibimbap which looked so good! It’s cheap, delicious and authentic:)

Had the stone pot pork bibimbap, it's yummy, especially when you mix it with the yolk and hot sauce. The meal came with side dishes as well, what is normally expected of, dining at Korean restaurants. Was disappointed with the jajangmyeon, having tried authentic ones in Korean, this one seems a little different - see pic, the noodles are white and much thinner. The noodles are not the fresh handmade yellow udon I am familiar with based on my past experiences having jajangmyeon, hence the disappointment. The sauce was average too. Otherwise, the other dishes coming out of the kitchen smells delicious, perhaps there were other yummy dishes that we did not order.

Glad that we found this hidden gem in Glen Waverley area. Small restaurant but friendly and welcoming environment. Price was reasonable and food was great.

1. Pork kimchi stew - 4/5 2. Boneless Fried chicken - 3/5 - it’s like fried sliced chicken 3. Bimbibab chicken with spicy sauce - 5/5 - it’s really good. Worth a try

The atmosphere is your typical glen waverley Asian in other words cosy but not decadent which is actually what you'd want. Fancy Asian restaurants are not worth it. TLDR this place is good and I would come back again. More detail: The first thing about the Korean restaurant you notice is the quality of their "free" side dishes that come with every meal. Usually they have a selection of cold mini plates and this time I'm a little disappointed. There was no pickled radish. The alternative ones are pretty bland except for the kimchi which is excellent as you'd expect from the name of the restaurant. However the main dishes were of high quality and I thoroughly enjoyed the ones I ordered. The soybean soup was very hearty and goes well with rice. The beef BBQ plate has amazing flavours to go along with the generous serve of sliced beef. Pancake was the BEST ones I've had in glen waverley. Outstanding crispness and not too oily. There was big pieces of seafood and I'm very happy with that. Overall it's a lovely Korean restaurant with good portion size and I hope next time I come there will be some pickled radish.

Had the Bibimbap and the black bean noodles and both were excellent. Would recommend!

Really enjoyed the BBQ chicken with cheese. Customer service was 5 stars, food was tasty.

Love the soup, very original.. Teriyaki is always the best yet we might try the seafood pancake.

Would never order takeaway from here again. Ordered the octopus bibimbap and literally got two puny octopus. Totally disappointed. Pretty much paid 18$ for rice. Never again

One white short hair waitress has Bad attitudes ,pretend didn't heard customer talking, treat Chinese and other customers differently. Won't come again bye

The food was so great that we brought the leftovers home 😁👍🏽 we ordered 6 dishes: takoyaki, shabu shabu, chicken with ribs, chicken with cheese, stir fry mix seafood (prawn, octopus, squid, mussels) and black bean noodles 🍝 Definitely try the shabu shabu, the broth was sweet and clear, the set came with a large variety of vegetables, mushrooms and seafood 🐙🦐😊 Chicken ribs were crispy and made just right. On top of that, the staff were super friendly and provided great service 😇

Really good quality food and decent portions. Quick and efficient service. Crispy chicken wings were the favourite.

Extremely pleasant, helpful and quick service in a fully packed restaurant! Very nice food at very reasonable prices too. I definitely recommend this place.

I fully understand that the restaurant is busy but their horrible attitude towards us made it very uncomfortable to stay there. I won’t go there again

As you get into the restaurant, they will promptly serve you with rice tea. The food is big in portion. The japchae is big in portion and stone pot octopus rice is not too dry. Both of them are delicious. The fried chicken tastes good but there might be too much batter. Their side dishes are good as well. All in all, the experience is good with tasty food and friendly staffs.

The staff here are always so friendly and welcoming. All the food is delicious - chicken cheese is amazing!!

My absolute favourite Korean restaurant! Over a dozen visits and every time they have been consistant with the service and high quality food that they provide so efficiently! We are always seen to not long after seating and in and out in 40 minutes! Heads up to get in early though as they are super busy every night! Their constant stream of customers just shows how amazing their food is!

As a lover of Korean BBQ this place didn't specialise in it but its a little hidden gem and has a great array of quality meat cooked for you. The side were great

We ordered chicken and cheese bbq and table cooking chicken and beef and it was excellent. The service was great too. Highly recommend it . Great food .

Best army stew I’ve had in a while! Sides were also very generous and delicious! Restaurant was so packed but staff were still Super friendly and attended to our needs.
Suzanne
My absolute favourite korean restaurant in the area, it’s the go-to for my friends and I because it never disappoints! Lovely owners and fast, polite service. My favourite is the beef bibimbap and KBBQ. Love this place, highly recommend 👍🏻
Bonnie
Love this place. The quality of food and service is always consistently good. The only thing that I don’t like is how loud this place can get. It is as if sound gets trapped inside the restaurant.
The Over Indulged
Good traditional Korean restaurant. The mung bean pancake was different to the usual crisp Jeon that you can get else where. It has a heavier texture and thick batter to it. Still equally good. We also ordered the Ginseng chicken. It has good ginseng essence to it and the broth is light.
SouthEastEater
Went to Kimchi Hut on a Friday night. The restaurant was very busy but luckily we had made a reservation and didn’t have to wait for a table. Other patrons weren’t as lucky and had to wait outside in the cold as there’s no waiting area inside...
Complementary tea upon seating. Corkage very reasonable.
We ordered 6 dishes between 5 - prawn bimimbap, sizzling veg plate, sizzling prawn plate, vegetarian pancake, japchae and Tteokbokki. Banchan not the best we’ve eaten but still okay.
Food - 4/5
Service - 4/5
Overall, would visit again and try more of the menu.
Foodies.and.Coe
Very pleased with this dining experience, they were happy to allow me to wait for a late friend whilst providing some delicious entree in the mean time. The place was very busy and I understand why, they serve delicious food at reasonable prices. This is an excellent spot for local Korean.

I have been here tonight.food was good.but one of staff wasnt friendly and gentle.seem not patient to listen to my orders.service is very important in a restaurant.i hope it will be better next time

I’ve been coming to this place for years. And every time I come the food is amazing. I’m always torn between the rice bowls and the sizzling plates. both are good. The prawn sizzling plate with spicy sauce is probably my favourite. The appetizers are also amazing.

Came here for a family birthday. We were a big group but we were treated with warm and friendly service. We were offered complimentary soju to celebrate as well.
We had fried dumplings, Kimchi pancake, black bean noodles, japchae noodles, spicy seafood sizzling plate, sweet and spicy chicken, bibimbap.
All the dishes we ordered were delicious. Our favourite was the Spicy seafood 😋
Love Korean food so will definitely come back here ❤️

Came here with a group of mates looking for a last minute booking, and thank the lord for the acceptance of this place to take such a large group at such late notice on a busy weekend.

We walked in and were attended to by the staff immediately who took care with our orders, ensuring that we ordered adequately and wisely.

We ended up splitting our table into 2 groups, for our table was too large for the staff to effectively manoeuvre around the restaurant floor. Our sub group ordered the mixed meat platter and pork belly for the Korean bbq and it arrived rather quickly.

Despite the surge of customers as we walked in, not only were we paid careful attention to, but everyone around also seemed to be receiving excellent service.

The staff assisted us throughout the cooking process and informed us as to when the food was ready to eat.

When the meat was lifted off the hot grill, a char was left on the exterior, creating a layer of crunchy goodness providing an enchanting texture and flavour.

All the sides that were brought out, once combined with the meat in the form of a wrap in lettuce, created a harmonious song in my mouth, crunching through the leaf of the crisp lettuce, then reaching the succulent meat and zinging kimchi making what could only be described as a symphony of food.

Because of the attentiveness and proficiency of the staff and the deliciousness of the food, kimchi hut is a killer location for kbbq.

Havent been to kbbq in so long, this was probably my 2nd or 3rd time. I enjoyed the food, the staff were friendly and service was good. We got some mixed meat and pork belly, which was flavoursome however some of the meat got burnt from the grill as we forgot to take it off. It was overall a fantastic experience.

The foods are really amazing and the customer service is perfect. They make sure everything goes right for us which are great and give us a good dinner experience all the time. My favorite Korean place ever!!! Highly recommend.

This is definitely one of the best stone pot I have ever had. It’s precious that they keep the moisture of the rice and it’s so flavourful. Every mouthful gave me joy that I never experienced in other Korean restaurants. The ginseng chicken soup was also good. It’s light and warm.
SSSangria
The food came really fast today. The staff are so nice and help us with the BBQ. However, the BBQ meat is a bit tough. The fried chicken is great!!
Bestmelbournefoods
Super yummy! I quite enjoyed this place, the food was nice! Prices were okay considering it is in Glen Waverley & food was pretty nice too! It was an overall adequate experience!

One of the Korean spots we frequent! I’d say it’s the best one on Kingsway.

Dishes are slightly above average, nothing much to say really. Kimchi is a bit too fermented for my personal preference. We normally order their soondubu, spicy pork BBQ and beef bulgogi bibimbab.

My boyfriend and I have been a loyal customer, we’ve been coming back here at least 10 times and we ordered the same every time so you can see it like $80-$90 for the whole meal. What happened tonight was when my boyfriend asked for more side dish the 3rd times, the lady (short hair) said there would be a 75cent surcharge per side dish and I think she is bullshitting to us. It is not a matter of money but it’s her poor attitude and to be honest it is the little thing that counts. Thanks for completely ruining our night.
Jensen5144
We absolutely love this place! The food is excellent, so full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Ingredients are plentiful and leaves you more than satisfied. The staff (I think they’re the owners) are wonderful. They’re always friendly and very helpful. When we first visited, we were pretty much uninitiated in Korean cuisine. They took the time to describe the various dishes and based on our personal tastes and preferences, went on to recommend several menu items they thought we might enjoy. Well, we’ve been here quite a few times since and have tried many things on the menu now, and have not found any that we didn’t like.

Highly recommended and we’ll be back again soon for more!
3.5
Tried kimchi hut the other day. Luckily we booked a table for 4 as the place was busy and packed on a Friday night. We ordered the jap chae, kim chi pancake and spicy pork which were yummy. The pork came with a lot of veggies and not as much meat as expected. We also got the spicy fried chicken which had a thick batter and was average. There was a surcharge of 2% for credit card so we opted to pay cash.

Best Korean food I’ve had in ages. great service!! Highly recommend their bbq they cook it for you and the workers talk to you lots. Recommend highly

3.5 leaning towards 4.
Tasty, reliable korean food - recommend the vege mandu (dumplings), vege japchae (glass noodles), tteobokki (rice cakes) with cheese. Feels like they try a bit harder with better quality ingredients than your average local korean restaurant. Also a good range of banchan (side dishes). Recommend eat in rather than takeaway.

Thanks for the meal!

Ordered tteokbokki (rice cakes) with cheese, beef rib soup and fried chicken.

I am a regular here and I feel that Kim chi hut is simply comfort Korean food done the best. You know what you are going to get everytime and is perfect when the Korean cravings hit.

The tteokbokki is perfectly textured and cooked with a mildly spicy sauce. The cheese is a must extra providing that nice balance. The beef rib soup was homely tasting with tender pieces of beef. And the fried chicken is the star here. Simply a must for fried chicken lovers. Crispy outer shell with a juicy interior all dipped in their sweet and sour sauce makes this dish an awesome treat. Will be back again and again!

One of my newest discoveries - and omg they are so delish!

I’ve been a couple times so far and have tried their spicy cold noodles, fried chicken ribs and beef bibimbap - they’ve all been so good and legit!

Their portion sizes are great and pricing is good too for what you get. Service has always been super nice and welcoming too!

Will definitely be coming back again soon to try more things on the menu. :)

Great place for groups of friends and families. This was my first experience with Korean bbq style food and I was definitely delighted with the food and the experience in this restaurant. Great service and great food. Highly recommend to try with groups of friends and family.

A busy Korean restaurant with prompt and attentive service.

The place is quite cramped and not well ventilated.

Kimchi pancake was disappointing. Grainy, flavourless where it looked uncooked and broke apart, even the people beside us order the seafood pancake and were disappointed.

For $48, the 4 season pork belly was enough for 2 with flavours (Miso, chilli, wine and herb) and came with a generous amount of sides. Wine flavour was least favourable but the miso was great. Loved the generous of mushroom and lettuce they gave as well.

Regarding the food, it is great and not expensive at all. It looks like a very local Korean restaurant. But the service is a little bit rush there. We called them before we went there and they said yes there would be a table. However, when we were there, it still took us about 20 minutes to wait. Then after we ordered the food, the staffs made everything really rush, it seemed like they wanted us to finish ASAP. They grilled everything and put everything in the hotpot even though we didn’t have time to finish the food that soon. Anyway, apart from this, the food, the drink and the source were good. Worth to have a try.

My go-to korean shop when in GW. My favourite is the kimchii jiggeh. Good service as well.

My only complaint is the additional interest charged when payment is made with any card, including debit card! In this day and age, less and less people are carrying cash on hand. Shops and merchants shouldn't be penalizing customers for paying via cards.
Melb Foodie
service is really good ! The serve of the pork belly set is really big. Can’t finish by 2 person. Will come back next time. So enjoy my dinner here .

We came here for Korean BBQ lunch once with two kids. We found the staff really helpful, they even helped us cook the meats on the grill! The Four Season Pork Belly was absolutely delicious. Huge fans of pork belly, and we were so happy with the portions. The deep fried chicken ribs were also very good, so crispy and juicy. And we also ordered the sweet potato noodles (japchae) thoroughly just a very satisfying meal. Looking forward to coming back for our next feast.

The barbecue here is pretty good. It’s quite expensive though. The soup is pretty average. The black bean noodles is pretty average as well. I haven’t been here in a really long time and don’t plan on going to either because it’s pretty average.

Kimchi Hut is my korean go-to when I am at Glen Waverley because of it's affordable prices and satisfying food. The restaurant also has a comfortable and relaxed environment with plenty of turnover so you are never left feeling alone.

Recommended foods:
- chicken with melted cheese
- korean fried chicken
- kimchi-tofu stew

Standard foods:
- kimchi pancake
- rice cakes (if you can handle spice!)
-stir-fried beef
- bibimbap (of all meat varieties)
- japchae noodles

Always visit this restaurant for their bulgogi! Usually share one serving with a friend and order two rices. The spicy pork bulgogi is amazing, it comes out on a sizzling plate and I love the charred/grilled bits of pork. The marinate is tasty as well!

They also give 4 (or 5??) complimentary side dishes, one of them being kimchi of course! And damn, that kimchi is one the best kimchi's I've ever tasted! They even sell the kimchi in tubs (I'm definitely going to buy a tub next time I visit). The owners are really friendly and accommodating. Kimchi Hut is definitely the best Korean restaurant in Glen Waverley!

So good we booked a trip to Seoul!
Staff are amazing, food is amazing, hard to get in on a week day - would suggest to book.
Highly recommend the shared dishes, especially 4 seasons pork or mixed meat. Can top up on the kimchi and the rice wine is strong like sake. See pics

i was fairly exited to try a new cuisine, this being the first time trying korean bbq and to be honest i enjoyed the food very much but was a bit disappointed by the presentation but besides that the food was great and the staff were very friendly.

I was looking forward to visiting Kimchi Hut as it has been attracting very favourable reviews. Unfortunately, it was a moderately disappointing experience today.
The fried chicken ribs had way too much batter on them. The accompanying sauces were quite enjoyable though.
While the portion of beef for the table top BBQ was impressive, it tasted fairly mediocre.
Service was efficient and friendly (albeit mildly intrusive).
Overall, this was a middle of the road Korean BBQ joint.

Came for dinner on a busy Friday night, not having made a booking and was seated straight away. Restaurant is quite small but still there are plenty of tables. After we sat down there were no empty tables, and a queue started up at the front of the restaurant. We opted for the table top dining and ordered full serve of half pork belly and half spicy chicken from the menu. As well as some Korean fried chicken ribs. The ribs were super crispy, with a nice fluffy coating and the meat was super juicy on the inside. Portion size was also really decent. And the bbq was nice and fun. The spicy chicken had a really nice basting, spicy, but not overpowering and had lots of different elements. You could taste all of the flavours. Probably the best marinated chicken I’ve had at Korean bbq. And the sides were a nice compliment too. Really recommend.
LittleM
We stopped by here for dinner on a weekend. It's a good thing we came in earlier because the tables got filled up really fast during peak dinner hours. Since it was such a cold day, we ordered a pork stone pot bibimbap and a beancurd seafood claypot soup. Both dishes were tasty and we were really satisfied with our meals. Service was quite quick despite it being busy.

Book a table on Monday nite. It was busy. Staff friendly welcome us. Food came out quickly and nice fresh. Would visit again try different dishes
'Hits the spot' bibimbap from a place authentic in both food and service. Despite not really doing anything particularly different, Kimchi Hut stands out as a local favourite.
Melbourne Culinary
As a lover of Korean cuisine, I have visited many different Korean restaurants all over Melbourne, however I always end up at Kimchi Hut when I am in the Glen Waverley area. Their combination of solid Korean style comfort food, cosy environment and friendly staff always keeps me coming back for more!

The quality of the food and cleanliness of the restaurant is top notch. Service is always extremely friendly, the owner is very involved in making sure things run smoothly and people are happy which is much appreciated. Honestly can't find food as good as this at this price!

Came here on Saturday noon to celebrate my grand aunt’s birthday. She likes this place and enjoyed the food so much. I came here before 12 their opening time and surprising that there were a couple customers already sat down. Quickly grab a table and wait for my aunt and grand aunt. Soon after we placed our order, the restaurant has already packed and by the time food arrived and we spotted there are a few people waiting for the table.

I just love the politeness and friendliness of the staff working at this restaurant. The manager certainly knows how to make customers feel comfortable about waiting by letting you how much longer I need to wait for. The services they provide is absolutely amazing, caring and friendly! Not to mention food, it is fresh, tasty and YUM! highly recommended!

We ordered a tteokbokki and Korean kimchi pancake to share for two (small meal). The pancake was decent, but the star of the show had to be the tteokbokki. The best tteokbokki we have tried so far! Highly recommended.
Hungry Dumpling
I came here here on Saturday at 5pm to make sure I get park at the glen as it’s always so busy! I ordered the Tteokbokki (Spicy rice cakes) w cheese to start and omg it’s so delicious and stringy! For main I asked the waitress for a spicy beef stew type dish and she suggested the Assorted Mushrooms- Beef lover and it was delicious! It stays bubbling until you’re done! What I love about this stew is that you don’t get bored, there’s a little bit everything! The staff were attentive and friendly! I can’t wait to go back to try all the other dishes!!
Salsaal
The staff were super attentive and polite. Upon arriving, we were given a pot of tea to begin with. The food was delicious and sizzling still when brought out. Would highly recommend this place
Willtravelforfood17
We ordered the vegetarian pancake, the tofu kimchi pork soup, the budae chigae and the cheese chicken hotplate. The vegetarian pancake was interesting: it was made with cous cous instead of a flour batter. It is not to everyone’s taste but was certainly unique and flavourful. The side dishes were generous and different from the usual refillable side dishes you get. I really loved their kimchi which was delicious and spicy. The tofu soup was flavourful, hearty and packed with soft tofu. Perfect for winter. The budae chigae was good but missing kimchi in it so the soup is lighter in flavour than usual. The star of the night was the cheese chicken spicy hotplate. The chicken was spicy and moreish and the melty cheese on top was delicious. I would order this every time I come here. What I didn’t like was there was no ventilation even though they serve hot plate so your clothes and hair smell after you leave the place.
Yan Cao
I don’t think the food quality deserves rate 4.1. The fried chicken was terrible, little chicken covered by thick flour. you can barely tell that you are eating chicken. The beef ribs were overcooked, and the pancake was tasteless even with sauce. So disappointed. We didn’t even take away the rest.
Julieeeteee
Came here for a friend’s birthday and ordered a variety of dishes to fill our bellies 😋😋. Service was super nice, the owner helped us choose what to order from the menu and food came out pretty quick. Now the food was extremely DELICIOUS and they were generous with the portions. The only downside is that it’s quite expensive, other than that I really enjoyed the experience.

"How can Korean food be this bad" wondered my partner after our meal.

My Jalapche came out after a minute some of it hot, some cold and the vegies only came in chunk form. My partner didn't enjoy her cold noodle soup (She loves cold noodles) and after tasting it I refused to help her finish it. We also got sweet and spicy boneless chicken, the sauce tasted of mango with a bad aftertaste and It was also only somewhat spicy even by my mild standards.

Overall it was expensive and tasted poor. I suggest going elsewhere, there's plenty of better and cheaper places to eat in Glen Waverley.
@foodtom
i always look forward to eating korean, they are usually packed with flavour and the meat is succulent and fresh.
But my recent trip to kimchi hut has been a down hill.
My blackbean cold noodle was bland, the prices are a bit steep for korean food and the chicken didn’t have much flavour at all.
A bit disappointing trip that i was looking forward to.
I won’t be back for a while but hope they can improve soon.
Melissa Phu
Ambience is very pleasant, not too well lit. The quality of the food is amazing and service is amazing. After being seated once we had to move to a different table which was quite cramped. However, the food definitely compensated for that! The staff are very friendly and food comes out quickly! Would recommend the bbq beef sizzling plate!
Viviana
My regular place for Korean food. The owner is very nice and the food is quite good but quite pricey. And the restaurant is quite small, so our clothes and hair will be smelly after we leave the restaurant

Whatta feed! Kimchi Hut is a wonderful local Glen Waverley Korean option, that gets the flavours just right! I didn't think anything could rival my go-to Kimchi Grandma in Carnegie, but let me tell you - I'm liking my second go-to Kimchi Hut! Had a lovely experience here, the staff were fantastic, prices reasonable, portions generous, and flavours bang on! I enjoyed the five side dishes (normally I would expect 4, but 5 and I'm in heaven). Obviously got two rounds of side dishes... No explanation needed there. Nice surprise of miso soup complimentary to the rice stone pot / bibimbap. Got the pork with spicy sauce rice stone pot - it was decidedly very flavourful, high in toppings, with a well made sauce. Purely on this and 1 set of side dishes; I was stuffed. Well worth the visit and $17.80. I am looking forward to coming back, and let me tell you - my eye is square on that chicken with cheese sizzle plate. Until next time.
Streaky Eats
Pork rice stone pot was good. It had good amount of meat too for those meat lovers out there.

Also got the spicy and sweet fried boneless chicken. The sauce was quite good, but disappointed with the meat to batter ratio. Each piece had excessive batter and it felt like you're eating flour more than chicken. Portion was okay, wouldn't say it's worth the price.
Tifany_la_gourmande
Kimchi hut is a super affordable and delicious Korean restaurant! We booked a table for three and stayed for about two hours without feeling rushed.
We ordered an entré of vegetable kimchi pancakes and a variety of main dishes for only $73. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was particularly delicious! I would recommend trying the boneless chicken and the hot pot as it was simply delicious! I highly recommend a visit if you are after nice Korean food. 😁

One of my favourite local Korean bbq restaurants to go too. Lovely customer service. The food is of good quality and would definitely recommend to others
Jade
Tried this popular korean restaurant last week with friends and I think it is overated. We ordered blackbean noodles with pork, seafood pancake and cheese chicken. The food was ok and average...I think, the noodle and chicken tasted similar as what I have had in other places. And I didn't really enjoy the seafood pancake because it was more crispy here while I prefer to have it soft.
Lily
Kimchi hut can be pricey but the food is packed with flavours and spice as always to a high quality. Go early or book as it gets quite busy often.

Great Korean food and very very very friendly staff!
Would definitely visit again!! Flavor is on the strong side, good generous serving portion!

Very popular restaurant with the locals as well as outsiders . Authentic Korean fare with superb service . The Bbq chicken was nice n spicy just the way I had ordered . The recommendation by the owner was excellent . Very attentive staff and personalised service

We come to kimchi hut for their famous boneless fried chicken and green tea ice cream. Love coming here and never disappointed. Staff very friendly.

Food: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Lots of flavour! We ordered the beef ribs, cold noodles and chicken ribs. The cold noodles was cooling, refreshing and was perfect for a warm day. The chicken was nice crunchy and ribs were deliciously juicy.

Service: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Food was served quickly and staff were responsive.

Price: 🌟🌟🌟.5
A little pricier for korean food but worth it for the quality served.

I’ll start off by saying that this place is always busy, and rightfully so. This is one of the best Korean restaurants I have visited, and perhaps the best in Glen Waverley.

The staff are friendly, the food is fresh and most importantly, it tastes amazing.

Kimchi Hut offers everything you’d expect from a Korean restaurant from fried chicken to bbq. My personal favourites are the cheesy chicken hot plate, the Korean dumplings and the tteokbokki.

However note that this place opens and closes throughout the day and gets really busy during peak times so bookings are a must.
Hangry Jules
This would be my go to place for some spicy jjamppong💛 it had heaps of seafood which I also love💛 It was really crowded when we went in though and I think its interior could be better. It wasn't a memorable place I guess, difficult to chat with my friends because of the noise (being seated in the centre of the restaurant). That's okay though cus who goes to restaurant to chitchat rite? (ME😬)

Came here for the first time after seeing the high Zomato rating and was not disappointing. We were given 5 side dishes which were very generous. We ordered the Takoyaki, Beef Bulgogi & 4 steamed Dumplings. The beef bulgogi was delicious, and the other two dishes were also above average. I will definitely be back to try some of the more flavour-full spicy dishes!
Little Noms
Visited for a weekday lunch right after opening time & was greeted by the staff who were very prompt. Ordered pork black bean noodles & steamed dumplings (s)- both dishes tasted amazing and servings for the noodles were generous! The side dishes were also delicious eaten with the noodles 😋 Although a little more pricey for Korean food the quality definitely doesn't disappoint! Would definitely recommend to stop by for lunch/ dinner around the glen!!

Delicious tasty food, super fast and efficient service! We had the rice pots which were sooooo good! This is one of my absolute favourite places to eat out!

Food was delicious and really hit the spot!

The seafood mung bean pancake was okay. It wasn’t very crunchy maybe because of the mung beans.

We ordered the beef bibimbap which was very nice. I like to mix in some kimchi into the bibimbap which adds more flavour.

Stewed rice cakes and japchae were also quite good. The place was very busy by 7pm on a Friday night.

Good value for some good food.

Kimchi Hut can always be depended on to deliver delicious dishes that’s packed with lots of flavour. The floor staff are always so warm and friendly and service is quick and efficient. Love their boneless fried chicken, bibimbaps, beef LA galbi ribs, pork bulgogi, octopus bulgogi, chicken ginseng soup, japchae, soon du boo, green tea ice cream and black sesame ice cream. This place is always busy even on weeknights, so booking is definitely recommended and especially on weekends as they might have timed bookings. Always a go to and a must visit when in the area.
Vivian
Tucked in a more quieter area of kings way is this cute Korean joint that serves delicious Korean dishes that would satisfy most cravings . I have only visited twice but enjoyed everything I had . The back bean noodle was quite decent and so was the Kim chi soup and also the soft tofu soup.
Jean
The best Korean restaurant in Melbourne a bit pricey but worth it and it is so popular you must book on weekends particularly during winter.
Andries Van Wyk
First time to eat Korean. Wow what great food. I had the clay pot. Its amazing. A lot of food for a very good price.
This dish is best for winter as it warms you up and maintains its heat.
Love the crispy rice at the bottom of the pot.

Arrived around 6:45pm on Thursday and lucky no need to wait for a table. Afterward about 8-10 people waited outside.
The chicken is more sweet than spicy, coating is a bit thick but overall is good.
The seafood soup is quite spicy once you drink the chilli flakes. Comes with tofu, one prawn and one mussel.
The beef stone bowl rice is also good and sizzling hot. There’s no sauce so you have to add yourself.
Prices are slightly cheaper than the ones in city. Photos shown are for 2 people for $60

A little bit pricey but I came here with a group of friends, which allowed the freedom of ordering a variety of dishes. The japchae was delicious, the fried chicken juicy and crispy. We had a noodle soup dish too, though I cannot remember which... Only downside was that the air-conditioning doesn't seem to cope with a full house on really hot days, so perhaps, time your visit 😂

Being my first Korean BBQ restaurant experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very different. As we had no idea what to order/ways to eat we had a waiter you was awesome very kind/fun and really made the experience.

I'll have to try a few other places to know how it stacks up against other Korean places though food was nice.

My experience at the Kimchi hut would have easily been a 4/5 if it wasn't for a few scattered pieces of rotten vegetables in my Mixed Seafood Hotplate.

Too often the kitchen tries to save cost by using produce past their price and hoping customers won't notice when it's mixed with the good produce, and most of the time customer don't. I am very meticulous however and I will always pick up on this.

The place has a lot going for it. Tasty food. Fair portions. Large pot of tea free on arrival. Generous sides with main dishes, and very friendly service. The dumplings were crispy and delicious. The Seafood Hotplate was a little high on the price, but also very tasty other than the rotten pieces zucchinis and capsicum. The prawns were fairly large (although only 2x, and the mussels tasted fresh.

Not sure if I would return on my own. When travelling for work in the area which I on occasions, I can see myself coming back on the odd occasion.

Today I tried the octopus bibimbap and the chicken with cheese with my boyfriend Isaac Chok

The octopus bibimbap was authentic and the presentation was decent. The octopus though was perhaps too little, but was enough for a 'seafoody' taste in tandem with the dried seaweed and other ingredients. Compared to the one provided in Yori Wantirna, the chili paste was much more authentic, not too sweet to fit a Western palette.

Chicken with cheese was passable but perhaps not my favorite in Melbourne. The quality of the ingredients was there but maybe too diluted by water, perhaps from the veggies. I prefer the same dish from CJ cafe in CBD.

Side dishes were perhaps not as fresh as it could be. Perhaps being prepared in the morning went against it today.

Service was top quality. Owner was absolutely lovely and made jokes with me and spoke Korean. The atmosphere was also homey and personal.

I would come back to maybe try the BBQ which appears to be the main draw. Overall it was an enjoyable experience but the food wasn't anything to shout about.
#

Super busy restaurant we had booked but we still need to wait for little bit when we arrive. The staff was very friendly and we had kimch hot pot which was very tasty kimch.
The restaurant is quiet small and bit squishy and you don't want to wear nice cloth as it gets smell after dinning in.

Hv been this Hut many times last year. But it is not pleasant foodie here since waiters changed ,also the taste is not as authentic as made one yr before .

The food was not good, we ordered the beef platter for the "table top cooking" which is their version of KBBQ which was about $46, one serve of tokoyaki which was about $8 And a large seafood pancake that was $16.70 which was not in my opinion a large, it was maybe a medium compared to most KBBQ places.

First of All, this beef platter was terrible, one cut of beef in one marinade. Most places offer you different cuts and different marinades, for a much lower price and the quality is much better. They just threw the whole plate on the stove, the pan was over crowded that all the juices came out and we ended up with sad soggy grey beef.

Our seafood pancake wasn't even cooked through, it was weird and pastey and quite bland with very few pieces of seafood in it.

Staff was a bit rude and I would never come here again.
I visited this place because it has lots of good review. But honestly, I doubt it's worth a long drive. I ordered BBQ but the meat was frozen and dip was not full of flavor. Service was good though. If you are close to Carnegie, there are more good restaurant there.

Came here for dinner last night and had a different Korean BBQ experience. We ordered beef BBQ with kimchi vegetarian soup. The soup was really spicy and the beef was really different from any other Korean BBQs I've experienced. The meat was not in big chunks and the smell of BBQ won't be attached to your clothes, which I like. I really enjoyed the beef and would definitely come here again :)

Went here recently with 10 colleagues, place filled up pretty quickly around diner time. Loved the food, everything was very nice, tasted the bibimhap, kimchi soup and lots of other dishes. The veggies were very fresh and crunchy.

Everything has a nice spice to it.

Stone pot rice!!!! Yummm! So many places just scoop everything into a lukewarm stone pot and serve it as stone pot rice. Not here..... it is actually super hot with a nice layer of oil on the sides so that it develops that crunchy crust of rice... kimchi hut is certainly a local favorite

It was good Korean hot pot. Had octopus hot pot, but not enough octopus. The staff were really friendly, but it was busy. It was also a little pricey but worth it.

Excellent food and service for lunch for an amazingly reasonable price. Had dumplings and BBQ. This was the best Asian based food we've had in ages. Yum!! Will be back.

Korean corn tea will be served as soon as you take a seat. Kimchi Hut is one of my favourite Korean cuisines in Melbourne.
Octopus stone bibimbap was really nice. I requested "spicy source but please make it mild" and they made the exactly I wanted. They also served extra spicy source, in case if I wanted more spicy one.
Grilled whole fish is my favourite. It goes well with bibimbap!!
Service is good, but better to make a booking when it's dinner time. I would give 4.8 to this restaurant.
