Review The Butchers Bench - Glen Waverley

My daughter and I are currently enjoying our first meal at The Butchers Bench. The atmosphere is so comfortable with it's mood lighting, comfortable seating and layout. For dinner I have enjoyed my Rib Eye which was so succulent and juicy which I ordered with a side of crisp vegetables, it came topped with a sprinkle of salt for a flavoursome finish. Desert was a chocolate fondant, so rich in flavour with a scoop of ice cream and strawberries. Staff were very quick to respond to requests and food came at a reasonable speed. I give this restaurant 5 Stars and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable place to eat with amazing food. Daughters comments... For dinner I enjoyed a chicken ceaser salad made of refreshing lettuce, ceaser dressing, chicken pieces, bacon and boiled eggs. The staff are very kind and make you feel very welcome and comfortable.

Definately one of the better western/steakhouse restaurant in the Eastern suburb. Booked for group dinning together with children for my wife's birthday and they were very accomodating. I didnt need worry much Tariq and his staff were very professional. Tariq called back to even confirmed the numbers. Serivce was excellent and friendly. Tariq was very attentive, keep checking with us frequently how are we doing. Food was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their food. Very generous portions. Kids meal especially the fish and chips is huge. The salt and pepper was excellent. Cauliflower and leek soup was delicious. My lamb backstrap cooked to perfection while salmon was to die for. Awesome. Will be back again. Menu below is Spring Group Menu.

Signature BB Platter is good, black pudding and beef short ribs are delicious. But lamb shank and its sauce is plain. Staffs are friendly.

Overpriced and very average food. I had the pork belly. It was very dry and the skin was not crispy at all. I also had bread and butter pudding which had strong orange liquer flavour which was not mentioned on the menu. Hours later it is still repeating on me. Had a cocktail which was terrible. I make better at home. Whilst friendly, the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. Very ordinary experience overall.

We arrived at Butchers Bench which is supposed to be a steak house and it looked like an very ordinary Hotel dining room. As it was our anniversary, we ordered a starter which was very nice. The complimentary bread was also very nice. We then ordered the Rib Eye steak and asked for it medium and medium rare. It came well cooked. The pepper sauce tasted like burnt gravy. It came with one tiny chat potato and when you are paying $46 dollars a steak you would expect a few more potatoes. The steak was tasteless and tough. We will definitely not be going back to the Butchers Bench.

Food has improved greatly. The food used to be average, but has now become very delicious. Portions are a bit too large if you want 3 courses. The menu is fantastic at the moment. The staff are also much more friendly than previously and more attentive.

Stay away, there are so many better dining option in the area. First off; the good - The food was tasty, well presented, and good portion size. Now, the service on the other hand was terrible. Asked for a couple of minutes more to make up our minds on what to order, and 20 minutes or so later the waitress hadn't come back. Had to waver her over to take our order. Same thing happened with dessert/coffee. We were asked if we wanted any straight after we'd finished mains, and we asked her to give us a bit of time to decide. 30 minutes or so later she still hadn't come back so had to do the wave again, but just asked for the bill. So, not only did they lose money from us not ordering desert/coffee, but we won't be back and will be advising our friends not to go there either.

Breakfast food was very bland and tasteless. We ordered strong coffee with cream and we got standard coffee with milk in paper cups. We came here for tea and ordered salmon. It was also tasteless. I would not recommend this place for a nice night out. There are so many better options for eating out in this area.
