I have been dinning here few times. Food is delicious, generous portion & price so cheap! The owner is so nice & friendly, will definitely come again & again!
Great food, service and friendly staff. The food arrives to the table quickly and great for lunch or dinner.
Very authentic Malaysian cuisine. Most importantly, their service is the best in Kingsway.
Can't say no to my favorite comfort food restaurant and most charming restaurant owner
Nice food. Even alone you get to sit really close to other people. Makes me feel like I have friends....
They accept eftpos. Enough said. Everytime I see the cash only sign, I walk out.
Gr8 food here good service 5star
100% Authentic Malaysian food at this restaurant 🤩. Being from west, Malaysian food isn’t done well so when me and my bf were travelling to this side of town we came across this restaurant. My bf loves Malay food so he was excited to try it but I was skeptical due to past experiences.
Restaurant was very spacious and the menu had heaps of options to choose from. We ordered the hot and sour soup, roti bread, asam laksa and nasi lemak. Everything was perfect, there was absolutely no faults except I wasn’t a fan of the nasi lemak, most likely as I chose to have it with fried chicken and not with curry chicken. But that does not impact on how delicious everything else tasted.
The curry sauce paired with the roti was different from the usual peanut dipping sauce and I absolutely loved it and the broth of the nasi lemak was exactly what a home cooked noodle soup would taste like.
Leaving this restaurant I found a love for Malaysian food and will happily travel down to the east for authentic Malay cuisine.
Taste: 5/5
Value: 5/5
Satisfaction: 5/5
My absolute favourite place to eat.
Why didn’t you tell me there were 3 petaling streets?
Authentic Malaysian food with fast, friendly service. Servings were satisfyingly big and flavours were spot on. The char kuey teow was packed full of ingredients and had an aromatic fresh-out-of-the-wok flavour. The fried chicken ribs, sambal kang kung and claypot eggplant were equally delicious. A step above your typical Malaysian casual dining fare.
One of my favorite restaurant chains in australia. Malaysian cuisine is a choice.you cant go wrong with i had the 老鼠粉。it was really really good. Wil come back and back again
Deep fried durian balls! It looks really good on the menu, but came out disappointed. Other dishes are very authentic malaysian dish.
The fish set was unbelievable good for the price of 16$.
Definitely come back here and try more fish.
Food is so good! So flavoursome! Especially the fish with the sour sauce. Some food were quite salty, but the sweet and sour chilli sauce totally balanced it out. Service always very good, food arrives fast and dishes are delicious. Desserts and drinks also tasted great.
I always come here when I am craving for asian food, the workers seems nice and always giving us water or tea.
They have a nice decent variety of foods on their menu, food comes out quick.
I like to order the lemon chicken or stir fry noodles with pork.
Deelicious.
Came here a couple of times but always forgot to review. Yesterday, I came here for a late dinner and ordered the special combination fried noodles. The special combination fried noodles is a dish I always go to when I can’t decide what to get 😂. It just a dish that seems to taste nice no matter which place I order from. This place did not disappoint either :)
This place never disappoints. Ready to modify dishes to vegetarian options.
Sweet and sour chicken with fried rice deserves 5 stars. We look forward to visit this place.
We went here for our family dinner last week. This place is very popular among asians in melbourne. It is a very suitable place for family dinner.
Both menu for sharing or individual are provided with many food variations so it can well be adjusted for such preference
Straight down to the food!!!
Panda 🐼🐼🐼:

Pandon’t❌❌❌
Unfortunate that this restaurant located in a very crowded area which might take you a while to park and queue
Ambience might be a bit too noisy
Overall the food was great and will definitely come back again :)
We eat here quite often even though it takes us 45 mins drive from our place. We love the food here but our favorite dishes would be XO sauce pipis and fish. The salted fish fried rice is delicious too and we usually order an extra serve to takeaway too. Staff is friendly.
This little restaurant serves common authentic Malaysian dishes. They serve both rice or noodle dishes, as well as individual main dishes. Both my husband and I visit this place frequently and it never disappoints us with flavour.
My rating of 4 is purely for food. Their service is not the best, slightly abrupt or even rude to some extend. However I will definitely tolerate the service for authentic home food.
Opens late until 12 on the weekends. We come here when we are looking for a change from China bar. Our favourite is the Xo pipis with Chinese donut. The curry mee goreng is also delicious.
This is probably my favourite Malaysian in the entire Melbourne - and I have been to many!! Food are extremely generous in portions, and the taste are just super on point - tasted exactly like what you'll expect in Malaysia! My partner and I usually have to order 3 mains and share amongst us in other restaurant - but 2 will be more than enough in this place. Highly recommend their Nasi Lemak with Curry beef, Hainanese Chicken rice, Rendang fish and their steam fish!!!
I love coming to Petaling Street and don't get to come here often enough due to my location (there used to be one in the cbd). Cheap and tasty food, fast and polite service. Love this place.
Quick and easy food. They have a little buzzer so you don't have to wave your hand around like an idiot trying to get the waiter/waitress' attention.
Food wasnt too bad.

I love char keuy teow and I didn't expect to be able to get char keuy teow as good back in Malaysia and honestly the char keuy teow from Petaling Street taste pretty similar to the char keuy teow in Malaysia. Compared to Malaysia, the portion here is larger than the char keuy teow you can find in Malaysia
LIT!⭐️: Cheap Malaysian eats that come in big portion sizes will leave you full. I particularly liked the Chinese donuts dipped in xo sauce.
NOT SO LIT: we had a few noodle dishes which could have had more season. Also I still prefer hainan chicken from china bar more.
Not too bad but they have competition in Glenny.
Thanks for having us x
Good food, good service. Came here a lot of times and ordered the Kam Heong Clams and sambal long beans, delicious af. The Nyonya Fish is amazing, fish is freshly cooked. The mata kucing drink is a thirst quencher. Feels like home.
personally love the CKT (char kuey teow), it tastes very authentic & flavorful. it gives me a taste of home. highly recommend for fellow malaysians out there / anyone who has an appreciation for savoury food really!
Hainan chicken is good here. Ordered nasi lemak, it was okay, the curry chicken was a tad too salty for me and the ikan bilis a bit too oily. Had the special clam shell dish which was alright. Had bits of sand still remaining though because it wasn't washed thoroughly enough but overall still good. All the portions were massive so great value.
Went with some friends and was happy with the experience. We shared dishes like clams with Kam Heong sauce (soooo good!! The sauce is a winner!), marmite chicken ribs (pretty good), okra with sambal sauce (pretty good too), and crispy pork (was disappointed with this one...it did smell porky). The portions are so big, definitely much bigger than the pictures! We could not finish the foods. We also had drinks and overall the price isn't expensive. Food came out fast. They also have extensive menu for drinks, they are very interesting. And they did not rush us out like some chinese place. So, very happy with the place.
Pleasant comfortable place. Had a fried fish in XO sauce that I loved. Have been back many times and always get this dish. Have also tried their fried rice and other usuals like spring rols which are all good
Very good food and service
This is my first time
Highly recommended for all people
After reading the reviews had bit doubts
Really very good food
All dishes I ate so far are pretty delicious, such as Hainanese chicken, Buh Kut Teh, Malaysian Nyonya Fish, Petaling street special crispy pork etc. I love the food there, and it is me and my hubby’s favourate place for dinner.
Tasty, delicious and cheap.
The fish options are always tasty and fresh and so cheap.
Nice individual dishes or to share. Great variety. Good for groups or couples. Service is always nice and very fast. Never been disappointed.
Have been to this restaurant many time and grabed take aways too. The place is good with quick service, tastly food. Last time i went the waitress had a good and wellcoming smile. Staff do their best. Will recommend other to try this.

Best Malaysian cuisine around Melbourne 👍 friendly customer service, fast service definitely recommending this place.Have a wide variety of fried fish 🐟 which non other place offers.
Eventually we came upon Petaling Street, which specialises in Malaysian hawker-style food. Petaling Street also has outlets in Clayton, Carnegie, Box Hill and. the CBD. The service was very efficient and the restaurant was spacious.
Street Style Malaysian Food! My favorite is the full sized full snapper with a simple seasoning! Under $15 for a full sized snapper on the bone how can you complain?
Pretty good food and fast service I will be back for sure :) I had fish veggies and chicken all taste well and lychee drink was good too I'm full and happy
Authetic Maylay cuisine, ordered 3 different dishes between 2 of.two, walked.away well fed:) Boss seemed quite nice which.is always a plus !
The staff are friendly and the food is great for a reasonable price.
Of course you get the standard luke warm water in the plastic cups, but don't let that put you off.
I've been here a couple of times I'm a group and it's pleasant enough. The tofu starter is a mouth watering favorite and the fried whole fish selection is great.
The Pad Thai is not the best but the Hainanese Chicken is a must try. The last time I had Hainanese Chicken that flavorsome was in China.
Love it here. My family and I visit often and always happy. The food is great. Quick service. Did i mention how great the food is. My kids love the marmite chicken ribs. I love the clams or whole fish. Wife loves the green curry. Highly recommended for a great meal that does not cost a fortune.
The best Petaling Street by far IMO. Super friendly service with more extensive menu make this branch much more interesting than the others. No doubt why it is so busy everyday. When you think about Malaysian food just go try this place. You will be satisfied guaranteed!!!
Accompany my friend to eat here, and tried her food, she ordered the char kwe tiaw, which was okay, and my partner ordered the hor fun, which was better than the kwe tiaw but taste wise i still prefer straits cafe.
Came here a few times. The first Petaling Street we visited before they opened more outlets in Sydney. Great dishes. Always packed. Service is okay. Price is also reasonable.
Ordered the staples such as Char Kuay Teaw, Bak Kut Teh and Hai Nan Chicken Rice. We are all satisfied.
Bottomline ; Great food, good service, great value. Go for it.
Best Char Kuey Teow in the eastern suburbs hands down. Make sure you order it with duck egg. Very reasonable prices as well. Really do not know why this only has a current rating of 2.8 . Food alone is amazing just don't expect much when it comes to customer service and you'll have a great dinner!
Customer service could be improved but food is good! We always go back for the laksa. Some of the other dishes are a bit hit and miss, and occasionally one dish will be slower than the rest, but the laksa and range of drinks always keeps me coming back.
56% rating! Come on!. This is one of the best restaurants VIC. We live in Bayside, but we'll drive 35 minutes, all the way to Glen Waverly to get our fix of Asian food. Seafood menu is extensive and very affordable but tastes amazing. They were also accommodating of my kid, and one time we were with other friends who had kids as well, and they were happy to host us. We come here at least every other week, rain or shine.
Definately one of those restaurants with a ton of things on the menu. To be honest, that always worries me a bit. So much on offer, but what do they do really well? Do they do anything really well? Well, for today’s lunch, the wife natually ordered the Nasi Lemnak (without the usual nuts – she’s allergic) and I ordered an entree of Lobak and a Combination Stirfry with Fried Noodles. Yes, I know the noodle dish is extremely boring, but it was what I was in the mood for, plus a sign of a good restaurant to me is somewhere that can elevate boring to something new, exciting and surprising.
I love this place. I've come here with my family on countless Saturdays where mum can't be bothered to cook, and I don't think I remember us ever ordering anything that we didn't like.
Had few times hainanese chicken and love it for quick lunch or dinner!
Good restaurant.. food was okay

I have not been to this restaunant for a while, and it is time to check it out.
Often when I walk or drive pass the restaurant, in the afternoon or evening, it never c a to be as busy as a couple of the competitors across the road.
There are two individuals at the restaurant when my friend and I arrive at 12 noon. Only 2 more walked in and stay until when finish our lunch.
The mural is colourful and appropriate for the venue. However, I find the arrangement of the tables in the centre running from the front to the end of the dining area rather interesting / odd. It reminds me of a dining hll of a boarding school. In fact, I recall similar dining tables arrangement in Harry Potter's movie.
The waiter is terrific and honest. He reckons what we have ordered is too much for both of us, and suggests an alternative dish.
The Butter Chicken is crispy and sauce very smooth. Howver, when the sauce gets cold, it turns into starch. Very likely, excessive thickener has been used.
My friend is partial about the flavour of the Deep Fried Fish Malaysian Nonya Sauce. On the contrary, I do enjoy the fish.
It has been a very long time since our previous visit preCovid. Our most recent visit was on a weekday at about 730pm for dinner. Not much of a crowd so seating was easy to find. Service was prompt and friendly. Interestingly the background music playing at that time was distinctly Thai! But my favourite “Sabai Sabai” song was not in that repertoire. The menu remains extensive with many familiar Malaysian style dishes. We chose 2 sets of fish dishes plus kangkung belacan and the Prawn noodle soup. Delicious! Happy tummy!
PETALING STREET MALAYSIAN CHINESE is located in the Kingsway Food Precinct and is one of our most favourite Chinese restaurants for larger family gatherings.
The Manager, Kim, is surely the Best Ambassador for this particular Petaling Street outlet. He knows all the dishes so well and is always able to make great food suggestions.
We really appreciate his warm welcome and professional approach and are very pleased to strongly recommend both Kim, his experienced staff, and importantly his Petaling Street Malaysian Chinese restaurant for your attention.
Food is always amazing. The gentleman who I believe manages or owns the restaurant is always very kind and you feel welcomed as soon as you enter.
Alway here only, love love love the service. Excellent 😊🙏
