Review Workshop Bros - Glen Waverley

Andy Khoe
friendly staff, nice and comfortable environment. food is great, basically it caters for people who are looking for brunch however with a bit of asian fusion style.. you must try if you are in Glen Waverley for lunch.. oh yea, they also do dinner but I haven't tried yet

We had the brother feast between the five of us so we got to choose five entrees and five mains - great way to try most things on the menu. Highlights were the beef tartare, lamb ribs and the barramundi. Service was great, the guys are super friendly! Will be back again!

Enjoyed this place. Service was great. Place was nice and spotless. Good was very imaginative, asian western infusion. I had the special which was eggs Benny done with croissant with asian twist - Chinese picked cabbage. Worked really well, not too strong flavor from the pickled cabbage so melded excellently. My wife got the fresh egg waffles. That was a beautiful dish. Had blueberries, raspberry, candy floss, chocolate mousse, caramel and nut or biscuit thing, and at least few more things. Price was reasonable and worth it if your looking for something interesting and bit more exciting.

Nice atmosphere with good service and selection of food. They have a set meal of appetiser and a main that cost an affordable 35 dollars. The beef tartare and the kingfish sashimi are highly recommended appetisers. The lamb backstrap main is slightly under seasoned, but still acceptable. There's also a good selection of beverages to choose from. A good restaurant to come back to.

Really friendly staff, service was quick and responsive. The cocktails we're good, particularly the yuzu boulvedair. Meal sizes are fine, the price of the feed me option seems to work out cheaper than buying separately if you want more than one item each.

Great brunch place with Asian fusion food options. Some options include soba chicken salad and soft shell crab burger with Asian spices. The menu offers a wide range of options so everyone can find something they love. Cute, cosy interior, although on the small side compared to other Melbourne brunch spots these days. Friendly staff and prompt service. Expect a line on weekends. If you love Asian flavours but enjoy the typical Melbourne lunch scene, try out Workshop Bros in Glen Waverley, which seems to have become one of the new food hubs.

Another truly excellent cafe in Glen Waverley. This time a fusion of Hong Kong style Asian and Melbourne Cafe culture, lands you with a sumptuous menu which will have something for everyone, and excellent coffee to boot. Stylish interior, with Miami Vice vibes works a treat.

Ran in for a quick breakkie. Food came out quick, a little slow for drinks probably plenty of take away. Tried the kaya latte, hint kaya is there but would prefer stronger. Wife has the matcha latte, nice artwork. Char Siu bagel. Taste is there, somehow the bagel's a little hard. Overall a good place if you need a quick bite

Stopped in for a quick coffee which was delicious. Service was excellent. Looked at what other customers were eating and it looked good. Will definitely return.

It’s difficult to find a good western cafe in Glen Waverley. This one is one of the good ones. The salad noodles is a simple and fresh dish. I will comeback.

Just a quick review, I’ve visited Work shop brothers a few times in Glen Waverley and it never disappoints! went for a quick after work drinks with friends the other day and it was awesome! Friendly staff, great outdoor seating and a good selection of drinks, snacks and pastries!

Very impressed with the food, so tasty! Portion is slightly smaller so no food is wasted. Will come back! Matcha latte is always good, got a bear this time :)

Great location at Glen Waverley. Workshop Brothers definitely specialises in taking traditional cafe foods and putting an asian twist on them. The ambience stands out in comparison to most eateries as it has quite a modern and hip vibe. The service was also amazing. I ordered the soba noodle chicken salad and the portion size was just perfect. The freshness of the vegetables and herbs made it feel light and the addition of the fried egg tied the dish together well. The choice of soba noodles also complimented the flavours of the herbs and vegetables. I only wished that the yolk of the egg was runny, it would have been the cherry on top of the wonderful dish! Besides that, nothing to complain about this beautiful location.

Love the food there it’s different and in high quality! Must try the noodle, congee and their eggs for breakfast is amazing! Friendly staff and reasonably priced
Came here the other day with Lauren Chung for lunch and the food here is delish!
For the price you pay, you get a decent size serving along with good quality food that is cooked to perfection (also not to forget to mension the drinks here are amazing!)

I ordered the 'Workshop Weapon' which is a medium to large size burger and Lauren got the 'Softshell crab Burger'. As for drinks we got the tumeric latte and the peanutella.

The workshop weapon is among one of the best burgers I have tried in Glen Waverley.
The wagu beef patty was cooked and seasoned to perfection! Flavours were definately all there and complemented eachother well. Also the picked pair in this burger was delish! (Who knew picked pair would go so well in a burger).

Lauren loved her softshell crab burger too.
As for the drinks they were indeed tasty!
The peanutella was the showstopper out of the drinks and pretty sure it's one of the more popular ones here.

As for the service, they offered good customer service and we're fast when taking orders and bringing out the food which is a plus.
As for ambience, the place was decorated beautifully.
Definately adds a modern touch to the Kingsway cafe scene.

Will definately come back again for brunch and coffee. Maybe give the workshop mi goreng a try.
But definately recommend to give a try!

Everything's very simple here, which I like. The low cups of water are a hit with me too. I liked the pink walls, a very cute and girly touch to the place. They have quite a unique menu.

My boyfriend ordered the "Workshop weapon", which included a Wagyu beef patty that he didn't enjoy at all. He thought that the Wagyu wasn't fresh at all and it didn't give him a very good impression of the brunch place. I ordered the matcha puffle waffles, which I really enjoyed. The fairy floss and the aqua blue topping/sauce (I forgot the flavour of it) made it unique compared to other waffles. It was really tasty (kinda craving them now, honestly!)

The waitress was really nice to us and despite the food taking a while, the fact that she continued to check up on us to see how our meal was, made up for that.

If you live around Glen, definitely try this relaxing, yet buzzing cafe!
Connie
Still one of my favourite cafes to visit ! This time I tried a few different dishes and once again was very satisfied ! I also really liked the smoothie here

I ordered the crispy duck with green curry. The duck was mostly cooked well. The skin was very crispy. The main winner was the curry. Depth of flavour, spice and heat are the key things that stand out for me. Service was efficient.

Came to have dinner with the mrs, ordered the little brothers Crispy Thai Chicken Bao, Tempura Soft Shell Crab Bao and big brothers Crispy Barramundi and Miso Mushrooms, the crispy chicken bao was like eating deep fried chicken delicately cooked on a very soft fluffy bun, the soft shell crab was delicious, nice crispy batter, the barramundi had a nice crispy skin with an addition of delicious curry, the miso mushrooms were very nicely cooked with the nice miso flavors. Overall food was excellent
The only letdown was the waitresses information about pricing, the bill came to $84 including drinks, we asked which option was better, feed me for $35 with 2 people or order single items and they advised the feed me, we worked out the bill in the end after we left, it was cheaper to order single items, the $35 feed me seems to work better if you order the expensive items from the little brother and big brother menu to exceed the $35 amount, kinda wish they advised me properly. Overall very expensive but pretty good food
Melbourne Digest
Visited the workshop brothers for their brunch menu and ordered their creative take on eggs and hollandaise sauce with pully pork sandwiched within a croissant. Visually a masterpiece but taste-wise was less special.

Their pastel interiors and well-thought out design makes a pleasant visit if not a tad stereotypical of the Melbourne brunch setting.

Recommended if you’re pressed to impressed, or in desire of a new place to try out, but not a regular go-to fave.

Food was a little bit too salty for me (and I like my food salty!) and wayyyyy too salty for my mates. Taste palate/flavor combination is definitely there. Some meat dishes were over cooked (meat was a little tough). And drinks were too diluted.

What a gorgeous little place. Highly recommend going there for dinner! I'll be definitely going back to try there breakfast menu! Lovely staff too. And the wine...delicious.
Karina J
Great experience! We started off with drinks. I had the espresso martini which was extremely nice except a little on the sweet side and the glass was not full. We ordered the spicy slow cooked beef, lamb ribs and coconut rice to share between two people. Both dishes were packed with flavour and were decently sized. The beef was very spicy which the waitress warned us about beforehand. If you can handle your chilli- this is the dish for you!

Service is very good! Came on a Sunday morning but was able to get a table for 5 in under 5 minutes despite it being quite busy. Staff were friendly and courteous! Food came out in 10 minutes even though the restaurant was 100% full (which is a plusss!!! I hate long waits) Food was delicious, very well presented and prices were ok. Will definitely come back for dinner... hope the dinner menu is different?
Kylie
Workshop Brothers definitely know how to do brunch. Classy but warmly lit environment, and the interior design of the restaurant had an exquisite feel to it. I ordered the poke bowl and my partner ordered the kimchi rissoto (which had cheese and some seafood in it, yum) with coffee and oj. Well presented food that tasted delicious. Excellent service.

This modern cafe in Glen Waverley was a lovely place to go for brunch on a Sunday morning. Their ‘peanutella’ hot chocolate came out as a nice surprise served in a cocktail glass- extremely delicious! The baked eggs was a little on the soggy side and the waiter did mess up my order and but I didn’t have to wait much longer for the right meal. My friend ordered the smashed avo which was good except for the bread which was described as way too hard to eat. Overall not a bad brunch spot! Have yet to try the dinner menu :)

Amazing food and amazing service! Best spot on kingsway by far. The food was a fusion of Asian and Western cuisine and was served promptly. Well worth the price.

Edit: Came back one month later and tried the pork-me mee goreng. What a flavour explosion! Absolutely loved smashing some delicious noodles for breakfast! Sauce was balanced perfectly and was a perfect touch of spicy. Pork and vegetables were cooked well. Workshop Brothers is fast becoming a favourite. I'll be back again and again!

I'm keen to come back to Workshop Brothers to try out some other menu items. Kudos to Workshop for the innovation in their menu, as there are some pretty exciting and different options that stand out. The decor is also pretty funky and expansive, service is great, and good coffee to boot.
Tried the five spice chips, char siu pork bagel, and breaky burger. Breaky burger could have afforded more seasoning and flavour, however the bagel was fresh and tasty. Bit of a nuisance that sauce was placed underneath the bagel which made for messy eating, but that's my nitpick. Five spice chips were Ah-May-Zing! Definitely worth a try and a great twist on a crowd favourite.
I'll catch you soon Workshop, keep up your awesome innovation and good vibes!

Very interesting menu. Ordered a fish and chips. The fish is lightly battered and I like the garden salad on the side. It’s very refreshing. Coffee and green tea latter are both decent. Would definitely come back to try others on the menu. Not high chair friendly nor pram friendly, unless you book in advance.
Belinda
Staff was really friendly. Great food, coffee and ambience. Clearly nothing to fault hahaha Definitely will be back to try the other dishes!

I love everything in this elegant cafe. Staffs are friendly. Nice coffee and waffle. Everything is so fresh and delicious. Definitely will come back to try more!

Wow. Very relaxing vibe as you get greeted at the door. Food and drinks were both really good! Staff were super friendly and explained the menu clearly for us ( as we got the 2-3 course/set) . Would definitely return.

Went recently using Groupon deal. The venue is nicely decked out, service was on point and couldn't fault the food. Bao's were favourite and very tasty and lamb ribs were very tender. Keen to go back and check out Brunch/Lunch menu.

Coffee was burnt. The crab burger also overpowering. My partner also not really into their waffle said it's pretty dry. Overall do not recommend this place.
Julia.eats
The menus continue to change every few months, but the last time I went, the Brothers Benny (eggs Benedict) was still available. Sticking true to their statement of being an ‘Asian fusion’-style cafe, the hollandaise sauce had a kick to it and balanced out the pork nicely.
Big Shot Tommy
Walked past this place a few times, decided to check it out on Friday night.

Had the Crab Bao, Beef Tartare, Fish Curry and Pork Belly. Fish Curry was the standout here, awesome flavours and good spice level. Ordered a couple of drinks as well.

The service here is amazing, so polite and attentive, and for the meal, including an impulse 2 desserts at the end, really well priced. Will come back as there were some other items I want to check out.

Only disappointment was the kingfish being sold out!

This is a busy place and we were lucky to get a spot because the food was delicious. I had the beef cheeks and my friend got the risotto. Both dishes were very tasty. The green juice & matcha latte were also very nice. They forgot to bring out one of our dishes but apart from that the waitress was pretty good and attentive. Would definitely go back to try other things on the menu.
K.jones
food was exceptional, well cooked, well presented, tasty. staff were friendly, helpful and attentive,
coffee was strong and hot. could not ask for much more. place was packed when we got there and packed when we left. will keep coming back.

Been wanting to try out this place for a while. Came on a Sunday Afternoon for brunch.
Ordered:
Mr. Ok-o-nomi-yaki – Would probably be my favourite out of the 3 dishes I ordered. Surprised that it was such a large portion but it tasted sooo good, full of flavour.

Poke Bowl – Kingfish based instead of the usual salmon (which is what i usually get) was great. All the ingredients were fresh, which made it amazing.

Red Velvet Pancakes – They were super soft and perfect with the assorted berries. Also wasn't crazy sweet. Craving for more as I type this review.

Overall, the food and service was great so will defs be back to try out the dinner menu.

Really well presented food, gorgeous crockery, polite service. We enjoyed beef cheeks, soft shell crab burger (spicy!), fries special & red velvet pancakes. The pancakes in particular were tasty & so gorgeous. All meals were good, lots of interesting ingredients. Very nice mocha & hot choc.

Glen Waverley is always brimming with cafes and restaurants, old and new, so it is hard to keep up with it sometimes when you’re out there! We finally decided to check out Workshop Brothers one weekend which is a fairly newish establishment right in the heart of it all. Upon entering, the first thing I noticed was the colour and the interior. The theme was pink with rose gold trimmings! It was dramatic but it worked! I’ve never seen a place like it but it was done quite stylishly, and it was packed with people!

The food was pretty bloody tasty. Highly recommend the beef cheeks and the Singapore chilli crab special. Pretty decor, polite service, reasonable prices.

We enjoyed a delicious eight course meal. A bit spicy, but that nice bearable burn in the mouth afterwards. Enjoyed all courses. Nice new restaurant and efficient staff.

Great coffee. Nice atmosphere. Service was good, although a little frantic on a sat morning. Can definitely recommend the baked eggs (full of flavor), although I needed to get it sent back for a bit more baking as eggs were far too runny 1st off.. The fritters were awesome. Funky cafe on the kingsway strip with a happening vibe.

Arrived on Easter Monday, friendly crew said we can put our name down and she will give us a call back, estimated around 20 minutes.

About 10 minutes later we were seated at the high bar communal table with drinks and food menu.
I was quite hungry so wasn’t prepared for a coffee as yet. I asked about the peanutella which caught my eye. I chose to go for the pure peanutella (hot) without the extra shot of coffee. It was the rgbt choice. Not only it ease my hunger, it was delicious. Not too sweet ( I am not a sweet fan) and well balanced. It came with two marshmallows too for those who love them.

We then ordered three dishes and a side to share (for two). We had two items on the special - the lamb ribs bao, and waffle with chocolates. It appears it’s the waffle’s last day. I had my favourite breakfast, fried egg on toast.

The waffle was on a sweet side but if you have a sweet tooth and don’t mind sweet breakfast, that’s awesome. I wouldn’t mind it for dessert. The lamb ribs was made soft and peeled off its bone easily. The sauce was quite strong but together with the bao, it became perfect.

The fried egg I had was made sunny side up but not too runny on,toast was crispy and warm. Very nice. i wasn’t asked if I needed butter (something many cafes would do).

Half way through I felt like having a juice. I asked about their pressed juice and was told they were freshly made just that morning. I ordered a green juice. The fresh juice taste was weaker than the way I like my fresh juice. Still refreshing, no doubt.

All in all a pleasant experience - good food, very friendly service in such an extreme busy morning, the queue never stopped but staff pushed on with great humour and never make us felt like we were being pushed for table turnover, which is I think the key to all busy cafes.

I liked the food and would defiantly go back for a peanutella , maybe next time with a shot of coffee just to try!

Ambience: 4 stars - great for friends catch up or just breakfast date
Food: 3.5 stars - on the heavy tasting side , made with precision and thought and well presented, price to value ratio average, mainly due to the location
Drinks: 3.5 starts - very extensive drinks menu for anytime of the day. Special mention to their peanutella for non coffee drinkers as an option from the traditional chocolate
Service: 4.5 stars - continuously friendly and the lovely lady who looked after us even manage a chat while making sure we were looked after throughout our meal - outstanding

Recommended if you don’t mind waiting for a seat, and want good food you don’t mind paying a little more for.
Bite The Looks By BHA
If you are looking for trying a typical asian food for brunch around glen waverley place, this is the place! We order the savoury and sweet dishes for breakfast. I order the hongkong waffle and my friend order grilled salmon. For the drink, we order chai latte & coffe. We were not expecting that the food was so liiiit !! The place was as good as new and the staff was friendly and the cafe have an ambience diversity environment on it. Overall, anawsome experience! #BHAsFoodDiary

Enticed via a Group On voucher for a six course meal - and very pleasantly surprised. Great food, superb service. We'll be going back to try other menu options.

Looking for a place to have brunch with some friends in Glenny, and found Workshop Brothers through a Zomato search. This place offers a nice change from the usual spots. It was a good experience: the interior is modern and vibrant, the staff are friendly, the service was quick and they have a variety of options on the menu. I ordered the Spice Baked Eggs which was tasty and filling. The latte wasn't the best but still a decent coffee. It is slightly on the more expensive side for brunch, as most of the dishes are about $18. So while I wouldn't say it's value for money, it's decent food and conveniently located in the heart of Kingsway.
Melbourne, Let’s Eat
This place is definitely a must-visit. Cutest Instagram worthy place and menu items and staff are always happy and cheery every time I’m here. Ordered myself a beef cheeks and damn. Soft tender beef cheeks and hash truly melts in the mouth paired with sauce and pickled salad really ties everything together well.
Can’t wait to be back 👌

What a lovely and welcoming place!! There’s a bar inside and lots of comfy chairs.
The panna cotta was awesome.
Chips was quite salty.
Almond kaya and matcha were both great.
Oknomayaki was very tasty but a huge serve.
HK waffles was also a huge meal with lots of sweet surprises.
Service was reasonably fast and friendly.

Visited this cafe on the weekend in the heart of the Kingsway shopping strip in Glen Waverley. Lovely, modern interior made it very welcoming!
I started with the magnificent Peanutella: a peanut butter and Nutella hot chocolate, served in a cocktail glass and topped with two toasted marshmallows. So yummy!
We then shared the smashed avocado, the baked eggs and the delicious and unique smoked coconut Pannacotta.
I don’t often order smashed avo but this one was served on pumpkin bread which in an absolute sucker for (and it was so good!).
The baked eggs were full of spices and legumes and were really tasty.
The Pannacotta was a sight to behold - really pretty to look at and then once you opened the lid the apple wood smoke went flowing up into the air. I loved it. The Pannacotta was smooth and creamy, the fruit added a freshness and the granola gave it a sweet crunch.
I recommend a visit to this lovely cafe.

Never knew this cafe existed until we stumbled across it. Such a gorgeous cafe serving up some delicious food especially the Pantastic Cotta. The service was amazing with the staff being very attentive. We definitely will return!

Pleasantly surprised. We bought a groupon voucher where we got 2 dishes and 2 coffees for 32. No booking required so no awkward feelings. Arrived on a Sunday arvo and ordered the grilled barra and wifey had cabbage and carrot fritters. Both dishes were excellent and coffee was decent. Service was top notch. Will def return even without voucher.
Eating Away Melbourne
Had dinner at Workshop Brothers with a friend and was not disappointed. Loved the asian fusion kinda food. Portion didnt look big but actually was quite filling. Cocktails were so yummy that I had the same one again after the first one. Service was quick and friendly too.

Had brunch here with a group of friends & left extremely satisfied with our meals- which is credible to the awesome service & dishes! I loved the okinomiyaki & the iced matcha had a distinct matcha taste. Not to mention the stunning interior of the cafe- I would highly recommend this cafe to friends & family for brunch around the glen!

Not sure what to expect, but once we entered the place..love the clean, simple style of the restaurant. The entrees are great, my kids love them. I guess the spring rolls are great for kids, but to me they are just nice spring rolls..nothing special. Then the chicken wings, not too bad..but on the saltier side. Love the baos with the pickled carrots, really good combination..remind me a bit of the Viet. Bread roll. The papaya salad is my favourite, maybe because it doesn't have the strong craby or fishy authentic taste from Thailand but with the right balance of flavouring. The fried Mee Goreng is so different from the usual ones. It is not traditional but definately a good try. Next is the lamb ribs, nice and sticky, off the bone yummy..however is it me or the chef is on the "heavier" side with the flavouring. Last but not least is the dessert..that is the mango ice cream and sago..that my friend, me likey...not too sweet, a bit saltiness with the milo topping..cool idea. I somehow have this idea that whoever starts this restaurant, travels lots of place to try food from Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia, then decided to bring all together. You will either love his or her bravery in trying something out of the box or dislike it because he or she changes traditionally great food. We on the other hand think the food are rather good..just a few twigs here and there to make everything perfect. 3.5 for their food and 0.5 for their service. Keep it up.
Mish 🍔❤️
The coffee tasted mediocre and took quite a while to be brought out.
I found that the food also took a while to be served as well. I got the chorizo chili eggs and although the presentation of the food looked great unfortunately it didn’t that taste nice at all, I only ate a quarter of it. I found the dish had too much chickpeas, so much so that was all I could taste. There was barely any chorizo in there, the chickpeas really did over power every other ingredient. Will not be returning to this restaurant.
Rachael
Tried the set menu of 6 dishes, the first starting baos were amazing, really liked the shao dessert as well. Not so outstanding dishes were the lamb ribs and the spring rolls. The mee goreng was a very busy flavourful dish. Staff were nice but could be more observant with water.
Food1995
Really amazing service here!
Great food at dinner time, well presented with excellent flavours. Thoroughly enjoyed this.
We got the green tea bao which was amazing!!! The beef cheek curry was delicious and VERY generous in serving. The lamb blackstrap salad was excellent also.
Would come back for dinner again.

Out for our Anniversary, Samantha Jackson and I played some Zomato roulette in the car while trying to settle on a dinner option in the crowded selection of restaurants along the Kingsway in Glen Waverley Saturday night.

From walking in the door at Workshop Brothers we felt like our number had come up!

Out food was delicious with our entrees of chilli chicken wings and kingfish sashimi leaving us excitedly waiting for our mains. The duck curry and caramelised pork belly also delivered, but I’m tempted to return and work through the other little brother dishes another day. The sashimi was a highlight.

Contrary to other reviewers feeling rushed by plates being cleared, I felt that more them simply being efficient. Our waitstaff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful on the night making out ordering process simple once the Feast option (entree and main - or little brother and big brother dish - and rice for $35 min 2 people) was explained.

Looking forward to returning with 12 others some time to feast at their long table and sample more of their interesting and well presented dishes seen headed out to diners while we were there.
MF
Had lunch here and ordered their pork mee goreng and wagyu burger, i love my pork mee but my partner wasn’t impressed with the burger, i tried it and it was just okay, ice matcha latte was good and not too sweet, their coffee wasn’t our preference, the place was comfy and service was fast and friendly but we were a bit uncomfy as the waitress kept coming to clean up the plates, therefore we felt rushed.

😱Lizzie’s first impression: I have been meaning to try this place for a while as I have heard many good things and it certainly did not disappoint. I love the ambience of this place and the staff here are so friendly!

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: The stand out dish was the matcha Hong Kong waffles with the caramelised bananas - the HongKong waffles were so fluffy and matched well with the fruits. The mango smoothie bowl was so refreshing and I loved how they put watermelon balls in there! I also got to try the soft shell crab burger which didn’t taste too oily.

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: I wish they had another one of these places in the city so it’s more close to the cbd!

🥇Lizzie rates overall: I honestly really enjoyed all the meals and I cannot wait to try their dinner menu one day!
Lo
Loved it here ! Tried it for the first time, I had the hongkong waffle one, the portion is a lot and pretty. very filling, I like the atmosphere! Very pleasing. The price is about $15-$20, Will come back again next time !!

Crisp and classy all day eatery easing you from elegant brunches to sharing feasts for dinner and cocktails into the night. When you pull up to Workshop Bros, it's one of a number of cafes and shops...

We ordered the Keep it 100 (pork belly and century egg congee), Pork me meegoreng and the Sweet HK waffles. The congee was soooooooo delicious. The crunchy Chinese donuts and lotus chips were a nice contrast to the soft pork belly and egg. Everything was perfectly seasoned so no need for extra salt. There was a lot of spring onions but it worked well with this dish. No complaints with the noodles. The green tea ice-cream complemented the waffles well. The dish was as pretty as a picture.

I'll definitely be back to try other items on the menu!
Make sure you book ahead if you have a group as it gets busy and the place is not overly spacious.
Annie
Went for lunch today and had to wait 30 mins for a table. It was very busy but the staff were very attentive and ensured we were ok waiting . Great vibe and great staff, not to mention the Soft shell crab burger and Benedict were amazing. Will definitely be back .
Rajini Thrimawithane
Bit of a wait to get a table and then a wait to get the food too but it was fully worth it! The soft shell crab burger was a favourite and the coffee was great! Overall the food was fresh and delicious and the space was beautiful. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would 100% visit again!
Eat And Be Merry Crew
The place is staffed by hip young things all dressed in black. The menu is Asian-fusion. So think congee with caramelised pork belly and century old egg; Hong Kong waffles; soft-shell crab burger with yuzu and sambal.

For lunch, I went for the alluringly named Sea Garden - tempura calamari, with heirloom tomatoes, zucchini flowers, romesco sauce, snow pea tendrils and a poached egg. It was quite a tasty salad. There was plenty of tender calamari. The batter was nice and light and crispy. Same goes for the zucchini flowers. There were loads of flavoursome squeaky fresh tomatoes and corn nibblets off the cob. A very tasty dish for a hot day.

I really liked the decor. Modern and minimalistic although the place itself isn’t all that big.

Service was quite nice and the place wasn’t overly crowded, so I enjoyed a nice quiet breakfast.

Went in a party of two. My friend had the Brekky Burger, which wasn’t bad but I got the Smooth Operator which I preferred. I’ve never had a smoothie bowl before but can I just tell you, that was a really good choice! Perfect for breakfast and enough to fill you up and get you going through the day. Presentation was lovely, but the dish itself felt like a bowl of goodness. The fruit I think may have been the frozen sort but I liked the touch of dragonfruit and the crunchy shards of coconut more than the berries anyway. Definitely give this one a go- I might be back myself for this healthy and delicious breakfast alternative and to try out the rest of the menu
Quynh
Can only rate this based on my dinner experience here, I hope to try brunch some time. Also a super late review from last year- I think the set menu format has changed since then. Overall I think I wouldn't come back for dinner. I enjoyed the king fish, the chicken wings and spring chicken salad, however that was it. The fried chicken definitely need more sauce or pickles, after a couple of bites the chicken was just too much for me. The pork belly was very soft however just way too salty for my liking, we couldn't finish it at all. From reading the menu I didn't expect the black sticky rice (?) to come out like that, I found it very bland and just a disappointing finish to the meal because I would have enjoyed something more sweet. The interior was definitely nice, service was great and the value was good. I'll give a brunch a go the next time I'm on that side of town but for now dinner is a miss.
KH
Generous portion of the soft shell crab burger! Whole crab that includes the ‘mustard’, yellowish gland, yumyumyum!!! Their kaya (coconut jam) latte was the highlight. One of the beautiful cafe atmosphere for its pinkish coloured wallpapers! But don’t forget to order the soft shell crab burger and kaya latte!! You will not be disappointed!!! 5 star!!!
Celia
Came here wih my friends on a monday afternoon and first thing we noticed is that the interior is really well designed; great vibes also. The menu also has many options that I personally so it was a tough choice but I chose the sea garden which is a tempura calamari salad for $18.9. The calamari was fortunately tender and easy to chew. Plus, the various textures of ingredients such as tomatoes, ricotta cheese and the tempura coating of the calamari worked complemented each other. The manager lady (i assumed) was also very friendly and gave warm smiles.

Went here for breakfast after getting off a midnight horror flight and wanted some Melbourne breakfast and coffee after being away for 2 weeks. The coffee is amazing. Their fresh watermelon juice is also delish. I had the waffles and I was in heaven. The fresh fruit, with some chocolate and fairy floss, hit the spot! The boy had chili scrambled eggs and he was a bit disappointed as he said he could hardly taste the chili and there was a lack of flavour. Regardless, would definitely give it another go and if in doubt, WAFFLES!

I have been there for lunch and a dessert after dinner recently.

The food was acceptable; however, I love the matcha drink there which I had for lunch.

I went there for a second time for a mocktail drink and a waffle. The presentation is amazing, but the taste was not as good as the look.

This would be a great place to catch up with friend with a couple of fancy looking meal and drinks.

I was absolutely delighted to dine as a guest of WB as it was simply exceptional. From the stunning elegant and modern interiors to the sensational food I was literally in heaven.
I began with a kaya latte. This filled me with joy as I love a speciality hot beverage. Not being a coffee drinker I’ve been through every trend from chai to beetroot to turmeric, blue algae, charcoal, rainbow, red velvet whatever you name it I’ve tried it. But this, made out of the Asian coconut jam delicacy and splashed with a hint of matcha for colour was quite possibly my favourite of them all. This ingenious creativity was a sign of what was to come with the rest of the menu.
I ordered the Mr okonomiyaki which was without doubt the best I’ve tried outside of Japan. The cucumber, the kewpie, the tonkatsu sauce it was just bursting with flavour and texture and deliciousness. And what a generous serve to boot.
The sea garden, delicate tempura calamari with lemon ricotta zucchini flowers, gorgeous heirloom tomatoes and a perfectly poached egg was simply flawless. A brilliantly conceived and executed dish.
My final choice the smoothie bowl was beautiful. Served in one of those lovely coconut bowls it encapsulated the taste of summer. You can even opt to spike it with Malibu. Seriously what is not to love about this place? The styling is off the chain and I cannot wait to go back for dinner. They have absolutely raised the bar. Could not fault it

Good food and nice atmosphere! I love how the interior is circular as it makes for interesting design. The food is beautifully presented and quite enjoyable although I wished the egg waffles could be a bit more crunchy. The congee however was on point and the pork was perfectly cooked. Portion sizes were quite good and didn't leave me hungry which can be a problem with brunch sometimes. The matcha latte was a bit disappointing as it was rather bitter and not nearly sweet enough to balance it out. The peanutella latte also needs to be stronger in flavour as it was just like frothy milk. Otherwise great food and atmosphere and would love to visit again!

The fit out was gorgeous, so inviting. Could not fault the food, what a treasure of a place in the burbs! Will be my choice for brunches next time I'm back in Glenny.

SERVICE: 4/5
We were welcomed as soon as we walked in. Service was very prompt and attentive throughout.

FOOD: 5/5
Our coffees didn't take too long and we were both happy with the full-bodied velvety blend mmmmm. Also had their matcha latte - perfectly smooth and that latte art was too cute to spoil. I had the Japense pancake (Mr. Okonomiyaki) and was skeptical about the addition of the poached egg at first. The portion size was much more generous than expected and presentation was pleasing. Didn't think I would be able to finish it all though.
Then that first bite...AMAZING! The flavours and textures worked so well together. I was loving it. The crunch of the pancake, ooze of the egg, tang of the shredded seaweed and the perfectly pickled cool cucumber - every component did its part to add to a perfectly executed dish. Writing this makes me want to go back for another.

Update: 12/06/18
I have since then tried the slow-cooked beef cheeks and the kimchi risotto. Both standout dishes with the risotto being slightly "more perfect" than the other...is there anything they don't do well here? Service on all occasions were again top-class. I will slowly get through the menu plate by plate. Confident to say this is my new fav eatery - bonus points that it's local!

DECOR & AMBIENCE: 5/5
Minimalist style that is still very on trend and comfortable to enjoy a meal and chat. The tables are a little close together but not enough for it to be uncomfortable. We still enjoyed our time there for nearly 3 hours.

KID FRIENDLY: Perhaps outside tables as inside is quite limited with space. More suitable with older children where you don't need pram/high chair space. Separate kids menu also available.

Having been here a few times now I can safely say that the menu is interesting and has me coming back for more. Great coffee and good food! The atmosphere is very much Melbourne-brunch. Unfortunately one thing that detracts from the experience is the odours from the fish shop next door that seem to waft in to the front of the cafe!!!

Love the interior of the place! Staff are super attentive and friendly however the food lacked slightly - average brunch food that could be elevated

To start off, while Workshop Brothers is a very aesthetically pleasing cafe; it is a very poorly executed cafe in terms of service.

On a weekend afternoon, both my friend and I visited Workshop Bros. We sat at a table waiting for a friend (we told the waiter at the front this). So, we waited for about 30 mins till our friend shows up. Then, from there we immediately ordered and waited for our dishes.

3 of us ordered the miso mushrooms and the grilled barramundi. Our miso mushrooms were very small in portion even by brunch standards in Melb and was quite ordinary so we thought it was very overpriced. The grilled barramundi was apparently good but was nothing to rave about. We felt that it was a let down considering we had high expectations for them from word of mouth.

Most importantly, from the time we sat down waiting for our friend till we finish all 3 of our dishes, it was only about 1 hour 15 mins and the cafe had no queues with 2 or 3 tables to spare; YET the waitress serving us immediately remove our empty plates 5 minutes after we finished our food and PLACED THE BILL ON THE TABLE WITHOUT US ASKING FOR IT. I instantly looked up to see why were we rushed - there was NO ONE waiting for a table and like I said, there are a few tables empty.

I have never been to a cafe that has done that to me, not to mention; brunch cafes are meant for relaxing, catching up and spending time with people so I'm sure any reasonable customer at a brunch cafe would not expect a cafe staff to "chase you away". Safe to say, I was very upset with their service and would NOT recommend anyone to patron Workshop Bros at Glen Waverley.

Food: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
We ate the congee (Chinese rice porridge) and my did it hit the spot. This dish took on a modern approach to the commonly home cooked meal and was served with fried chinese donuts, crispy lotus leaves, century old egg and most importantly (and deliciously), the caramelised pork belly.

Service: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Staff were great. We were greeted promptly and had our order taken shortly after. Our meals did take a while to come out however we were happy with the product of the wait.

Price: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Well priced considering all the flavours and added goodies.

Venue looks great - they have spent some dough - coffee below average - food good, not outstanding but good. Menu has fancy twists that kinda throw the dishes off eg: the panacotta with fruit and granola is lovely but the panacotta has a woodfire smoke infused taste which in my opinion ruins the dish. Wouldnt return as there are better places around.

Love the Asian inspired brunch menu! Had the okonomiyaki dish and it was 10/10. Interior is lovely and staff are friendly and attentive. Will definitely be coming back again to work my way through the menu!

Had the sweetest of matcha latte which means I hate it the most! Too sweet and it’s way too over even with a cute latte art. Friendly service not enough to save that matcha latte. Hong Kong waffle was ok but a bit pricy.

Upmarket Asian fusion but really leans towards western cafe style dishes. I opted for the Tempura Calamari salad and the wife the workshop burger. The Calamari was cooked perfectly tender and accompanied by lemon ricotta stuffed zucchini flowers and heirloom tomatoes. A nice light and really well executed dish. The wife's burger was very very impressive,A beautiful spiced patty and strong blue cheese sauce spruced up the burger where you can get one in every second cafe these days. The menu has a "I want to try everything" look about it and a return visit is on the cards. Really enjoyable.

Had the absolute pleasure of stopping by Workshop Brothers during my lunch break Friday and I definitely was not disappointed! I ordered the sweet HK waffles and was expecting to walk out like a waddling duck 🦆 however, they were sweet but super light and fluffy with fresh fruit and I came out feeling as though I hadn’t completely over indulged! I also ordered a matcha 🍵 latte and it was fantastic and sweet! The latte art was utterly adorable and definitely added to the overall experience! It’s quite a small location and can get really busy at lunch - so definitely try and jump in at your earliest opportunity! 👏🏻👏🏻❤️

The interior was very modern and slick. The food was wow! It was delicious! Keep it 100 was the winner for me. It had a twist that I didnt expect and it was slightly different to the usual congee. I went with my family and they all loved it aswell!

One of the latest additions to Kingsway and the Glen Waverley brunch scene, Workshop Brothers. Expanding out from their CBD location to their the suburbs they have also diversified their menu to include dinner! As I'm a huge fan of brunch I'm gonna let that be the judge to whether I come back for dinner...so let's find out!

Workshop Bros is a beautiful new all-day eatery on the Kingsway, serving a very modern Asian inspired menu. We went for brunch and were seated straight away in a roomy booth. Loved the beautiful decor and warm and welcoming staff. Coffee was perfect, particularly the pour over which was excellent.

I had the “Keep it 100” congee which had a very generous serve of pork belly with an amazingly flagrant caramelised flavour. Congee was a bit thicker than I prefer and I would have liked it if the Chinese donuts were softer, but overall a great dish.

My dining companions ordered the Mr Ok-O-Nomi-Yaki, Chicken Baguette and Not Another Poke Bowl. Everyone was very happy and we all left stuffed. Prices are very reasonable considering the quality ingredients and generous serves. Would definitely come back for both brunch and dinner!

Staff were very friendly and polite. Food was amazing. We had the chicken salad and the yellow curry with Barumandy, both were exciting, tasty, and interesting.

This is what I call and asian brunch spot! The dishes have a strong asian influence. The best was probably the Pork belly congee. The Pork was salty enough to complement the congee perfect for a cold day. The mushrooms with croquette was delicious too. However the egg waffles and fried chicken was disappointing as it fried chicken was super salty and didn’t complement the waffles well as it was fairly dry.

Been here twice now and very impressed. Excellent food, attentive service. For the 'small plates' - try the kingfish sashimi and the beef tartare. For the large plates - the 'mellow yellow curry' is superb, and the sticky ribs and jungle curry are great too. It is good to have another quality option like this in Kingsway, this place is as good as The Black Toro and Shiranui in my view.
Eating With Ebony
Came here a few days ago and was greeted with such friendly service and staff. They made sure if I wanted anything to drink before my friends got there because I was of course the early one. Once my friends came they gave us enough time to decide what we wanted before coming over.
I got the pork me goreng and my friends got the CC burger and the the quick start with added mushrooms.
I loved the pork me goreng it was delicious and filling. My friends loved there food as well. One of them who got the quick start wasn't even able to finish it! So I got her bacon. I also tried the chips. They were good but they tasted sweet and I couldn't figure out what was on them!

Came here with my two other girlfriends for dinner and we loved the food and the atmosphere. We ordered three different mocktails and they were delicious. Staff was great and very knowledgable as we were unsure what to order and they recommended great dishes. Will definitely be back

I had dinner with mates here last weekend. The interior screams fancy. The food was not wow, I had the pork belly. It was tender but a bit too salty for my liking. Tried my mates’ food as well and I had the fish curry, it was juicy and the had a crispy skin, taste was refreshing.
First time coming in after passing by many times and i came out really enjoying the experience. The waiters were friendly and greeted me as i walked in. The place has a clean and modern atmosphere which is inviting. The food was delicious and the coffee was even better! However, the only thing i didnt like was their unconventional cups, it doesnt hold much water which made refilling a common occurrence. Besides that, I would recommend this place to others and would come back again!

Have been wanting to try this place since it first opened. Finally had a chance to check it out. It's well styled with a good colour palette. Service was very below average. The coffee was good and well made. The waffles were well presented but wasn't anything special in terms of flavour

As we entered workshop brothers, we were greeted with a warm smile and a friendly hello by one of the waiters as he showed us to our seats. While we were reading the menu, another friendly waiter came by and informed us of the specials of the day, which sounded delicious! However, we had made up our mind and went with the softshell crab burger and the barramundi. For sides, we chose to endulge ourselves with chicken wings and mushrooms (I personally loved the mushrooms!). The burger was absolutely delicious and the barramundi was cooked to perfection. We ate our meals and sides in silence as we were both too busy enjoying the tastes and smells of our amazing lunch.
Great place, great atmosphere and great people running the show! I will definitly be back to try other items on the menu. We left with a full belly, satisfied and a massive smile on our faces without causing too much damage to the wallet.

I’ve been here for take away Chai’s many times, but for the first time today I sat down for a meal, and I was not disappointed.

For starters, my iced almond latte was nice, strong, and in a decent sized cup! I ordered the CJ burger with Asian slaw and fries, which due to the mammoth chicken schnitzel was a struggle to eat with your hands as you would a normal burger, but it was worth it! Very flavoursome, chips also had a nice twist.

The customer service was fantastic. The couple next to me didn’t enjoy their beef burger, and the manager, noticing that they barely touched it, gave them the meal for free! Will definitely be coming back here to try more of the menu.

Service was alright but think it's overpriced will not go for second time.

The service was alright, not too bad. Pretty nice decorations.
I like how the shop gives a pink and modern vibe.

Very disappointing. Will NOT return.

I think we have another case of fancy name, fancy fitout, fancy menu, but absolutely no food to back it up, and end of the day, don't we go to restaurants for the food?

My sister and I are not the type to politely leave food unfinished on a table, on the contrary, we will eat til we can eat no more, and then order some dessert. But this time, we just couldn't do it.

We first got the pork baos, which were ok, but there was no freshness and we had to physically cut the mushy skin and fat out because it was so gross. The dumplings sauce was completely off balanced, we were expecting something similar to hu tong's chili won tons, so were sadly disappointed.

Our mains took a little too long to come out. The lamb ribs were terrible, far too lamby and soggy and again, the sauce was overpowering. Our fave dish was the baramundi curry (not to say it was good mind you), which was actually crispy, but the fish was a little muddy and for a mild curry it had a bit of a kick, which is fine since we both like spice, but it wasn't what the menu promised. I don't understand why it didn't have actual vegetables instead of a pile of herbs at the bottom? We did like the pickles though, they would've been nice with the lamb, maybe...?

I tried to explain the problem with the lamb to the waitress as we left, politely i thought, but she made it so awkward I just pretended the other dishes were ok and bolted out of there to salvage our night elsewhere. Not before paying a hefty bill, mind you.
I grabbed the chilli scrambled eggs, which were a huge portion. Nice interior and ambience, might come back here for another bite as the location is convenient.

I went there on a Sunday morning, didnt have to wait for a table for 2. I ordered the miso mushroom which was quite disappointing mainly because of the portion with the price you pay. It tastes okay although a bit on the sweet side.

I also ordered a cold drip which was okay.

The plus side is that the service is generally good and attentive. The decor is modern and contemporary.

Fusion brunch. Another place taking Melbourne brunch standard up another level. Still tweaking the menu and I can't wait to come back and try again when they are more settled. Expecting this place to pack out with long queues as more people discover it. Coffee standard good!

A little piece of fancy in Glenny. There's lots to choose from in the menu without making the decision difficult or confusing although the prices are slightly higher than expected for the size of some dishes. Drinks are good and the coffee is acceptable. Decor is contemporary and modern.

Only slight distaste (not their fault though) is the fishy smell from the fishmonger next door (especially on hot days with flies buzzing around the restaurant too).

Definitely a popular place as there's always a crowd except if you rock up before 6pm on a weekday or have an early breakie at 8am. Very good service although the first time I visited, the waitress was abit too enthusiastic and kept checking on us every few minutes to the point of annoyance. And it wasn't a particular empty night either. At least you know they’re attentive and super enthusiastic.

Went here twice, the first time was just for coffee and dessert. My coffee was burnt and the sago dessert was pretty average.

I came back with my friend for dinner hoping to give it a second chance. We went for the feed me option, the food came out really fast but I feel like some dishes should have been brought out together to compliment each other. Again I ordered a coffee and this time it was worse! It was so bitter/burnt that I had to add at least 5 spoons of sugar.
Had breakfast, went very early at 8.05am on a Friday morning.

Ambience: since it was so early, it was especially nice to have the place quiet - just me and my friend and one other customer at a nearby table with some pleasant music in the background. Overall nice decor. By the time we left around 9.10am, it was getting busy.

Matcha latte: not bad, but not stellar by any means. The bear design is cute but I'd rather have a good matcha latte than a cute design. Matcha taste is strong but a far cry from the standards of Little Rogue (which is the absolute best).

Congee: good. My comparison is the congee in Supper Inn (which is the best in Melbourne in my humble opinion), and it's pretty good in the texture, strength of taste and overall this dish is quite big in portion size so price-wise I feel this is ok and justifiable. Chinese donut was ok, a bit on the thick and stumpy side though (smaller pieces would be better). Caramelised pork belly tastes like tau yew bak and is a really nice addition.

My friend had the hot chocolate and soft shell crab burger. Portion size of the soft shell crab was quite substantial and it looked good. My friend said it tasted good.

It was a nice experience, but nothing particularly stood out which makes me wonder if I'd want to come back.

Finding myself unexpectedly in Glen Waverley, my first thought was to visit another Workshop Bro restaurant. We were able to grab a table at 1pm (Sat), but it was still incredibly busy and barely a spare seat anywhere. The individual bar tables and stools were actually really comfortable. This must be the first time I'm finding a bar stool comfortable. The ham and peas was such a pretty dish, perfectly balanced and well fried. It wasn't a particularly large portion of food though. The soft shell crab burger was delicious with so much flavour, and a hearty squeeze of lime really helped to bring these flavours out. In comparison it was almost a bit TOO big (I personally thought the fried egg didn't add anything to the plate except heaviness) and really messy to eat. We received excellent service.
