Review Georgie Porgie - Glen Waverley

Justine Edward
Had a lovely brunch here with some friends. Love that they have sparkling and chilled water on tap for free. Delicious looking cakes and pastries in the window. I had Georgie's big breakfast which was delicious with bacon, eggs, mushroom, tomato, chorizo sausage and sourdough toast. Eggs were cooked exactly as I had asked. Lactose free milk available for my coffee. They do all day breakfast and also have a decent looking lunch menu. Nice, relaxed atmosphere, efficient service and reasonable prices.

Dropped in to chat with a small group. They were awesome about us appearing at different times. Great experience, friendly staff. Cool to have a big breakfast for lunch with all three items nicely prepped and cooked. The chorizo with the meal was amazing everything else was good. My coffee was nice and strong the way I prefer it. It's really refreshing when a waiter actually listens then makes what you ask for happen. The entrance is #accessible.

Amazing food with some interesting twists on modern classic breakfasts. Friendly service and great having delivery as an option for Quest guests. I dined in on the second day and was in awe of the waffles presentation which was as delicious as it was tasty šŸ¤™

Called in to buy a slice of takeaway cake and we were recommended this watermelon sponge as being delicious. The guys serving were fast and very friendly. Would eat in next time to see what the menu is like.

It was my first time checking out this cute cafe in Glen Waverley. The cakes looked delicious and got a Red Velvet Cake and a Cheesecake. Both cakes were super delicious and tasted amazing! Staff were helpful and friendly. Would definitely try the watermelon cake next šŸ˜

How anyone can say the waffles aren't worth it is nuts. 2 generous sized waffles with mountains of fresh berries, high quality ice cream and the best berry coulis I have tasted in a long time. Best value breakfast in the area. The coffee is high quality with each cup tasting the same. Well done 5 stars

The place has a good selection of sweets. Ordered a breakfast muffin which was nice. The burger share platter was good as you get 4 combinations that can be selected which is good if you want to share your meal. The cider is decent and the place has good outside view. The place can be described as comfortable and cozy. A good place although the reviews were low I really enjoyed my meal and i am very satisfied I patronized this restaurant.

Fantastic place! Ordered a giant burger, and a giant burger is what I received! Definitely would recommend others to eat here! + the hospitality was fantastic too!

Do not work for or go to Georgie Porgies Cafe. Having found out, after I had left working here, that this ā€˜businessā€™ is already under investigation for underpayment. The owner George underpays all staff, only giving $15 per hour. Employees are made to work 7 days a week, around 8-12 hours per day. In the 5 weeks of working here I got only two days off, meaning they have already broken a number of fair work laws. Not only is it bad pay some of my payments were late and all staff wages are given in cash meaning no tax is deducted resulting in George, the owner, getting away with not paying tax. I have recently left working there, when I left they still owed me nearly two weeks worth of wages, resulting to nearly $1000. On my last day I questioned how I was going to be paid which resulting in an argument with the manager and owner, but resolving in the owner telling me he will transfer the money into my account the following night. This discussion was on the 14th of May, I still have not received any money which I am owned, I have tried contacting both the manager and the owner and they have decided to ignore me. From this I have reported both of them to the police and have got legal enforcement to assist me in getting the money they owe.

Burgers, Freakshakes, Hot dogs and Loaded fries ! The perfect place for a cheat day! A whole golden gaytime in the freakshake was one of the highlights! Let it melt into the shake ļæ½

Ordered the Kings Feast and it was huge!! Great serving sizes and all the inclusions you could ask for. Another decent burger joint to check out if you're in the area. Golden Gaytime shake was yummy.. flavorsome but not too sickly sweet either.
Juliana Mare
Let's talk shakes! The Golden Gaytime has an entire ice cream on top and half the jar is coated with peanut butter on the outside! My favourite out of the four flavours but the Strawberry is a close second!

Ordered through UberEATS, chose the vegan option over the vegetarian particularly because there was beet in the vegetarian one. Got something completely different and the staff was very rude on the phone when I tried to complain. Not recommending for deliveries as there is nothing you can do once you get it delivered and itā€™s too pricey for mistakes.

Awesome burgers! Since we discovered their burgers we sadly get take away every Saturday night (the joys of not being able to go out when you have a young child) fresh, tasty and huge servings. Awesome staff and service too. If you try Georgie porgy once, you'll be back for more!!
Alan Porter
Terrible who pays there staff less than minimum wage in cash then withholds money when staff leave
Dannii Williams
What a great hot spot in Bentleigh!! These guys really know how to do burgers...and shakes! The service is just aMAZing too. Thank you so much. I will be returning one day soon!! ļæ½

came for dinner at the very busy strip of shops in Glen Waverley, and decided stop by Georgie Porgie

the service was friendly and welcoming, i thank the staff for being super helpful in assisting me with choosing gluten free options

i had the classic burger with gluten free bun and i loved it, even though it was simple, it was delicious AND the bread actually stayed together!

the breakfast menu sounds yum so i would come back again!

My friend and I just walked pass by this place after diner. Watermelon cakes are my favourite so I always try them whenever I see them! I can say this is one of the best watermelon cake Iā€™ve ever tried before! Iā€™ll definitely come back for it sometime!

The best hamburgers I have had bar none. Perfectly cooked and a delicious sauce. Awesome guys you should be proud. Great service too. Regards Sean

Georgie Porgie at Glen Waverley. It is a nice small cafe in the Glen area. The cakes are nicely decorated but it is a bit sweet. Coffee is good but overall it is just average.

Today we went to georgie porgie for mother's day breakfast. My daughter booked in advance and when we arrived it was fairly quiet in store. It then, naturally being Mother's day became quite busy but they were clearly understaffed. The front guy seemed to have no idea what was going on. Meals sat waiting to be served and ...
We ordered our meals which took a long time to come and they they were all cold. I ordered specifically 1 poached egg benedict to try and save money because my daughter was paying but they still brought out 2. The ham on the meal did not taste ok so I didn't eat any.
We were served the meals but given no cutlery so we had to search around and go get our own. Then we had no serviettes so we had to get our own.Ā
My son's saw a photo of a salmon roll breakfast on the menu and asked what it was. The waiter told us so they ordered the meal the waiter said it was. However when it came it looked nothing like the photo yet people seated behind us received it.
Finally after all of this poor service and standard they charged my daughter over $120. She had saved up for the meal and wanted the meal to go well for mother's day. I did not complain in front of my daughter because of all the trouble she had gone to but their service and quality was appalling.

Came in for coffee/tea and cakes and the service was terrible! The girl had no idea what anything was when you asked her as none of the cakes are labelled (terrible for business when so many people these days have food intolerances). We then asked her a question about the teas and we had someone else come back to give us the answer and it was directed at the person who didnā€™t have the food allergy, nor were they the ones that asked the question. I tried my friendā€™s lemon meringue pie as he was saying it tasted weird and the meringue was overcooked to the point it was just crumbling. I definitely will not be coming back anytime soon, wanted to try out this place and like it but staff are rude and you can get better cakes at Piatella just up the road.

Great burgers and food but really slow service. Sat for ages in an empty restaurant and took ages to get our food. In the end the burgers were probably worth the wait

Despite practically living in the Kingsway of Glen Waverley all my life, my friends and I have only recently eaten at this store....Ā let me tell you my thoughts on this place and hopefully, they take this into account to improve.Ā THE TRUE REASON FOR 1 STAR: I noticed an older man, maybe late 40's getting ice cream and struggling with it for a while, which is understandable as any ice cream gets... but he then proceeded to MOLD THE ICECREAM WITH UNCLEAN BARE HANDS AND HAS THE AUDACITY TO SERVE IT TO THE CUSTOMER HOW DISGUSTING IS THAT?? OHS GONE OUT THE WINDOW??Ā
AMBIENCE: The decor on the wall wereĀ cute, but the tables were rocky and shakey and were almost ready to spin off? Hard wooden chairs are not an issue to me as every restaurantĀ has them. However, it was so hard to walk around. I'm not sure how busy it gets in this cafe but I've been around enough to know it's nothing compared to its neighbour YOMG and could definitelyĀ take some tables away and donate it to them. I can't imagine how hard it would be to walk when it is super packed in the cafe.Ā
FOOD: We ordered some cakes from the display, as that is what attracted us to the store. First cake order, got the infamous watermelon cake, as my friends and I have had the OG Black Star watermelon cake. And it is trash compared to it. It didn't stand right the flavour was all off, and just mushy with no bite. Needs a lot of improvement as we were told it was made in-store. If anyone else who has eaten this before, am I the only one who thought the watermelon was like rubber? We then got the strawberry mousse cake... that was so much better then the watermelon cake, it had a great strawberry taste to it, although artificial in taste but had good complimenting chocolate taste to it.Ā
DRINK: The drinks were fine, quite nice, as expected from Dukes coffee beans. They came in a timely manner that was not instant but not too long I would be upset considering the number of people in the cafe.Ā
SERVICE: The service was super friendly...however, when not serving customers the staff looked so unhappy... and it wasn't just me. I noticed for a while the demeanour of the staff when serving and not serving customers. Whilst very friendly and attentive to your needs they looked like they wanted to just leave. Whilst I thought it was my imagination, my friends had also confirmed this with me. Which is truly upsetting and hopefully a wake-up call to management that UNHAPPY STAFF MAKE A BAD ATMOSPHERE!! But the girls were so attentive to our needs I couldn't complain about service, but if you see the true reason on the top of my review, only 1 star for this place.Ā Sorry, but you have not won this foodie over and will definitelyĀ not recommend or eat here again.
Choc Pudding
Was here just for drinks and a cake. Nice interior and wasnt busy when we came on Saturday noon. Staff are friendly and it was cool that we can self serve sparkling water or mineral water on the tap. The matcha latte was nice, not too sweet or bitter but quite heavy on the milk. We had also new york cheesecake which was ok. We sat there for a while, good place to chat.

Came here for a light afternoon tea snack but was disappointed by my green tea latte- was very bitter and watery with an unenjoyable grimness upon the top layer of the drink. The cakes, however, particularly the Black Forest was loved by my mum and friend! We also took to tasking the sesame (mouse?) cake which was quite special

The worst cafe I ever been. The cake looks old and the girl told me she's going to wrap a new one for me. But look at the photo, the cake was sitting there for ages, it comes with mold. OMG!!! Really disappointing and disgusting..Don't even try.

Went here for a cuppa and a melamakarouno on Monday.Ā If you like biting into bricks, you'll like this place.Ā Disgraceful. How can you sell this and call it GREEK?Ā Greek cakes aren't rock hard.Ā Had to take it back, got my money back and the staff through them straight into the bin.Ā Not fresh. Sorry but this cafĆ© looks great from the outside but quality leaves a lot to be desired.

Bought the strawberry and watermelon cake for $9.50 to try and it was quite tasty! Wouldā€™ve loved it even more if it held together a bit better but otherwise šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼ canā€™t wait to try the burgers next time
Sunny Days Melbourne
This uniquely named cafe with its mesmerising array of cakes attracted me inside. Their display of slices was a feast for my eyes. I was impressed by the friendly service at the counter when I was making my choices.
Unfortunately, everything went down hill from there. The chocolate cake was much too dense and bland. The strawberry chocolate mousse slice had layers of what tasted like stale bread in between disturbingly hard mousse. The tiramisu had an overpowering coffee flavour which made my head spin.
I was really looking forward to the watermelon slices but they turned out to be a 'mini magic show' as both the slices I bought began to implode spontaneously.
Astonishingly, there was a clump of egg shells in the blueberry mousse slice! Having paid a premium for these slices (at an average of $9 a slice), this resulted in a whole new level of disappointment.
So I'm afraid in this case, Georgie Porgie did not have to kiss the girls to make them cry:(

Stopped by to grab some breakfast and a coffee on my way to work this morning. The food was tasty and the coffee was pretty good. Reasonably priced menu, and the staff were very friendly.

Doughnuts were an absolute rip off, paid $5.50 each and they were dry stale and unflavoured. Very unappetising donā€™t be fooled by the looks. .

Dxxx

Xxxx
Went for tea on a Sunday, ordered two cakes and a shake. Staff were friendly but were unsure of their own menu. Ordered a Golden Gaytime shake, and at first they said they didnt do it, until we pointed it out in their menu. However, the drink, while looking aesthetically pleasing, was nothing more than a vanilla shake with a stick of Gaytime. In addition, the white chocolate raspberry mousse cake was rubbery and subpar. Give them credit for their strawberry mousse cake though.

Great location, just next to the station. Loved their coffee the 1st time I went. Unfortunately, the standard dropped recently. Service hasn't been great either.

A great new addition to Kingsway!

Extremely affordable and really tasty food.

Order
šŸ”¹ļø Vegetarian burger- absolutely amazing! Really well made and really tasty. There wasn't one thing to critique about this burger.

šŸ”¹ļøThe above was ordered with some chips and a drink. The chips were pretty awful and not worth the effort. I'd recommend getting the onion rings instead as they were simply amazing.

šŸ”¹ļø King George Feast- a really filling and scrumptious burger. Comes with some onion rings and is made to perfect. Highly recommend this item.

šŸ”¹ļø Earl of Chicken- recommend against this choice! Nobody was a fan of this item on the table, so we highly recommend trying something else instead.

šŸ”¹ļø Cappuccino- great coffee!

šŸ”¹ļø Double Chocolate cake- Really smooth and extremely delicious! Do try it :)

Staff were fairly attentive too. Food was served really quickly as well. Overall, great experience!

Nice place for an afternoon tea with friends, beautiful fragrant Dukes coffee and staff are very friendly and helpful. Cakes need improvements, the watermelon cake was should be fresh, double choc cake is too sweet and all layers had the same texture. Sesame mouse is pretty good.

I would give coffee a 4 and cakes a 3

Had coffee and dessert here quite a few times before and finally tried some of their food. Out of familiarity I chose the teriyaki chicken dish. For me personally, the highlight of the dish is the tempura kale which adds a great crunchy texture to it. Other than that itā€™s an average dish but still nice and wholesome. Coffee tastes good. Service wise, they did their job but thereā€™s always room for improvement :)
Firstly none of the workers looked like they wanted to be there. There was six of us and we sat outside. When the worker came and took our order, he didnā€™t write it down. This always worries me especially being many orders to remember - 6 meals and drinks plus sides to remember is a lot - something is bound to not be correct. The worker then came back to ā€œset upā€ our cutlery - this was done by literally plonking down a pile of knives, forks and serviettes in a pile and walked off - thanks guess weā€™ll sort it out ourselves. The food slowly started to come out - everyoneā€™s came except mine. The waiter simply said, I wrote your dish wrong so theyā€™re remaking it. There was no apology. All my friends started eating and my husband and I just sat there waiting. We waited for what seemed like half an hour til we got up and was about to cancel our order as the wait was ridiculous and our friends were finishing up their meals. But it just happened to be ready when we got up. When they did finally bring it, the worker just said here you go, once again no apology for any delays. This could be avoided if you simply wrote the order down and getting it right instead of trying to look impressive - because clearly it wasnā€™t. I understand mistakes happen - but some things could be avoided - and an apology goes an extremely long way. I been to other places where order mix ups happen that doesnā€™t affect my thoughts on the place - why - because they say sorry and they actually seem to care theyā€™ve made a mistake and look like they want to be there.
The chips our friends had were undercooked - our loaded avocado fries was underwhelming. There was nothing much else about the food to boast about.
A laid back and cosy cafe. Their dupe of the famous Black Star watermelon cake is not worth more than the novelty. It tasted totally flat with none of the rose or almond flavour of the original. $9.50 not well spent at all, Iā€™m afraid.

Service is friendly. I appreciate that I feel I can stay as long as I like every time I stop by here for some productivity or a chat.
