By far one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Fantastic service by some of the most friendly waiters and waitresses along with being superbly quick in their cooking, without any sacrifice of the food's flavour.
Whether it's for a simple night out or a celebration, Basilico offers what be most can't with a large variety in their menus and the best service around.
Would highly recommend without a doubt in my mind.
Had my sons 21 st family dinner here.
Great food, lovely staff.
Highly recommend and would defiantly go back
Great food, service, prices, atmosphere. A gentleman gave my 2 boys some pizza dough to play with and create 'monsters' while we waited for our meals to arrive. What a brilliant idea! They loved it and it kept them happy and quiet. Food was magnificent. Best risotto I've had in ages and my husband loved his veal
Schnitzel. Great chippies too! My only criticism is that the tables are too small, especially for sharing meals. But I understand it's a small venue and it's the only way to add in enough tables. Can't wait to go back again soon!!!
Just sensational food and service ☺☺☺☺
Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Italian foog !!!!
The food was amazing with generous servings. Staff were very friendly. Ample parking at rear.
Fabulous meal tonight at Basilico. Excellent service - a huge thank you to Caitlin for your attentive service to our table. Nothing was to hard for you, many thanks. 5

Awesome place - meals were all beautiful !! Kids loved as well!!! Will definately be back.
Came here for dinner with a large party on a Saturday night. Was packed in the restaurant but never felt ignored and attentive so awesome work by the staff.
Food was surprisingly tasty. We order few pizza a pollo avocado risotto, lasagne and Arancini balls. Apart from the disappointing arancini balls which were really bland food was great. Pizza bases were tasty. The al prosciutto probably had too many competing flavor but still enjoyable. Risotto and lasagne were great. Definitely would come back here for nice Italian meal in the suburbs.
What a tasty place) Our favorite dessert here - Home Made Tiramisu. So good!
Perfect selection of Italian desserts just waiting to be discovered!
It’s often hard to find a good Italian restaurant in the suburbs without having to travel all the way into the inner city but this Italian restaurant in Glen Waverley offers wood fire ovened pizza, a range of pastas (where you pick your sauce and type of pasta), risotto and classic mains so there is something for everyone. The pizza is thin and crispy, it’s not an ultra thin base, but decent. We had ‘the works’ which literally had all the toppings (but anchovies) and the ‘al prosciutto’ pizzas, the warm chicken salad, lassagna and arancini balls. All the dishes were tasty, I would happily go back!
The wood-fired pizzas are delicious. Perfect ratio of base to toppings and the cheese is stringy and full of flavour. I’m slowly working my way through the pizza menu!
When I said I was going out for Italian in Glen Waverley I got some weird looks. But I knew what I was doing when I booked a table at Basilico. The pasta was so well made and everything tasted so fresh generous portion size with good service.
Upon walking through the doors brings a comforting ambiance of an inviting Italian family restaurant. Greeted by friendly staff on a Friday night, we managed to get a table without reservations nor dramas but the place filled up quickly. Their antipasto platter had a lot of flavours and accents even for a simple dish and their choice of bread was perfect. Their mussels and seafood were perfectly done; they had accents of char grilled with olive oil infused with flavours. Their marinara pasta was surprising; commonly the taste of cream or garlic is present but it's flavour of white wine had won me over. Their pizza was well balanced with the right amount of ingredients and their tiramisu was flawless. Their lemon tart was (to me) not as citrus in flavour as it should be; it was more cheese and I couldn't tell what flavour it was until I asked. Staff were perfect; friendly, had a few jokes and attentive. Most customers won't notice nor care however the bar/kitchen hand staff that had some down time were still wiping down cleaning and organising their work area to make sure everything was in check. The waiting staff kept clearing dishes quickly and made sure everything was fine. If I can be picky, my only thought would be that some tables made need a check since our table rocked.
There's a lot of great depth in flavours, technique and passion in the food provided by Basilico; personally it's a place that I'd slow down my consumption to truly appreciate the food with a heightened taste palate and senses.
Friendly staff, but needed to ask to shut front door, then realized it was the air conditioning making us all cold on a cold night, so then asked for that to be turned off. Pasta was really nice, gourmet pizza base was perfectly cooked but was quite tasteless. Took over an hour to get out meal on a weeknight. Might go back but wasn’t as good as expected.
Went here with my partner's family from.interstate. They are foodies....so no pressure. This is actually our first but we heard good review. Anyway, service was attentive. Menu oprions was great. Food was delicious and price is good. Will definitely come back again.
We booked into this busy restaurant for dinner at 7pm. For entree, we started with a herb foccacia on a pesto base. It was crunchy with mild flavour. After a decent wait, approximately 45 minutes we finally got into the mains. Next up were the pastas; marinara fettucine and matriciana gnocci. The matriciana had a good spicy kick to it and the gnocci was soft. I felt the fettucine was overly tough in texture. We ordered three pizzas; the lot, pesce misto and the giggio's. The pizza bases were crispy. The giggio's was underseasoned. The lot had great balance, as did the pesce misto. It was also difficult to flag for attention. Overall the food was above average but the wait time was too excessive.
Always busy, this local joint serves fantastic wood fire pizza and yummy pasta.
Recommended to book before going, this is such a nice place to hangout with family and friends and good food.
A extensive list of pizza, both savoury and sweet, you may want to come at the end of a meal for dessert only, take away or just have a good Italian meal.
Pasta selection is few comparatively but menu also caters for a small selection of steak.
Highly recommended, definitely a differentiator from the rival down the road.
Came here with a group , the food was amazing . If you are going here I definitely recommend trying if the gnocchi and the dessert pizza. The staff were lovely and very accomodating. Will be returning soon.
Came with a group of friends for dinner on a Friday night. Had everything from Pizza, to steak, to pasta. Each was good enough for a second visit. The thing that really shines here is the service - like a friendly Italian family inviting you in. Makes the meal taste so much better.
Basilico's decor and atmosphere was much nicer than was expected. I guess I was expecting something that gave more of a La Porchetta vibe. I liked the stoney-grey tones and dark wood. I Haven't yet tried a lot in terms of the food here, but first impressions have been good. The chocolate dessert pizza is a must try for sure. I'm not often sold on these sorts of things, but this had a nice thin crispy base of good texture, topped with a chocolate browny-like layer. This was airy and crispy in parts, while more chewy in others. This layer was covered in melted Belgian chocolate, powdered sugar, with some strawberries nestled amongst it. The pizza was chocolate heaven, the perfect level of richness and sweetness for my palate. Mix it with the vanilla ice cream on top and you have a winner. The only improvement that might be made was that there could have been more strawberries added to break up the mega chocolatiness with its fruity goodness. As it was, the pizza sported perhaps half a strawberry per slice. I thought the creme caramel was pretty poor though, lacking a lot of sweetness and creaminess, and perhaps needed more gelatin.
The pasta menu is very basic, but good value. They barely even up the price much for the seafood ones. My partner's white wine and olive oil based marinara is the only savoury dish I have tried there. It was not of the highest quality obviously, but was certainly well-made and pretty well balanced. I think the white wine could have made a bit more of a contribution though. Basilico is a very popular, family-orientated place and I will definitely keep it in mind for family gatherings, and for impromptu dessert pizza!
Came here with a group without having made a table booking and managed to get a table very quickly. Service here is very efficient, and friendly. Menu is pretty big, making it so hard to decide what to order... but the pizzas here are a must, made in the wood fired oven and with a great selection of pizzas in the gourmet pizza range. Great place for casual dining and not too expensive. Ingredients are all really fresh too.
Dined here last Thurs night with another couple. Good food and service. We enjoyed the garlic focaccia for starters, I enjoyed the gamberi (prawn) pizza as my main and we shared the dessert pizza - dark chocolate and strawberries. This was a great way to end a great night and its big enough to share between 4 people to get that nice taste to finish. This place is in the entertainment book as well so nice discount at the end with our gold cards. A nice local Italian place.
This is the second time that we went to Basilico. The food was good but the Bentleigh Restaurant had the better taste! Parking was ok, and the Staff was friendly.

Basilico is an Italian pizza restaurant located along near Syndal station. With its verdant branding and decor that's much more nicer than the local La Porchetta, Basilico seems popular every time that I've walked past it. With not much in the fridge, except enough to make some mushroom soup, we supplemented our dinner with a supreme pizza from Basilico. The ingredients were of a better quality and there was quite a generous amount of it when compared to a pizza from La Porchetta. Taste-wise, it was fine but there was nothing exceptional about it except that it was a very healthy pizza. The ham was lean, there was very little grease on the box. This, in theory, is a good thing. But I like my pizzas to have some grease - after all, what's the point of pigging out with a takeaway pizza?
Good place to hang out with friends and family....
Only issue is that it closes early....
Good food..... Pastas are better than pizza.....
Let's start with the steak; you can get a lovely Eye fillet with chips and salad only for 28 bucks which with quality they offer in other restaurants it is at least 40 bucks. I had lasagna, and in an Italian restaurant I got what I expected. It definitely worth to try once and maybe become a customer as we decided.
Very modern restaurant that's nicely spacious and cosy. I came at a fairly early time of 5:30 without making a reservation and fortunately, there was a table for 2 with the exception that we had to leave quarter past 7, which was very easy to compromise. We ordered the famous wood fire pizza Basilico Special and the Lasagne which were both a fine cost of $21.9. We didn't have to wait too long, around 15-20 minutes when the lasagne arrived. It came hot and steaming, freshly cooked and it was an fairly big portion. It tasted alright. The tomato sauce was applied generously and the cheese was there but I felt that altogether it was lacking in flavour and cheese. It wasn't bad but it wasn't the best either and I would say it was not worth for the big price. The pizza arrived closely afterwards and the waitress helped us get a rack for it. The pizza was very nice and authentic, the crust was thin and crisp and the toppings were generous, with cheese, salami, capsicum, onion and ham. It was flavoursome and and very delicious! Definitely one of the better authentic Italian pizzas I have had. Altogether a wonderful experience and I would come again next time to try out another pasta and one of the dessert pizzas! A tip for those wanting to dine here: make sure to book a reservation as although the restaurant may not seem full, they often say it's booked out. As I finished my meal and payed the bill at 6:15pm, a group of 3 were declined as apparently there was no tables available, although I could see at least 7 empty tables that could sit a minimum of 4 people. Early booking is definitely recommended to avoid disappointment! Also, be sure to ask about the specials as the waiters sometimes don't inform you about it. Unfortunately the waitress that served me failed to inform me that they had daily specials and I only found out when playing around with the menu board placed on the table.
Came here on a week night and it was packed! I enjoyed my lamb salad very much. It was simple but very well executed - well presented and you can tell they use very high quality ingredients. It's one of my local gems and I'd probably go to say it'd be my go-to if I wanted to have an authentic Italian meal without venturing into the city.
Grabbed a bite around the corner from my boyfriends place. Surprisingly very delicious, good amount of toppings on the pizzas. Very family friendly. Service was a little slow but understandable because they were full, and there was only 2 staff on the floor but overall will definitely come back for gourmet pizzas in the area.
Pasta was good. We order the marinara pasta, even my son who dislike prawn think it was nice and had almost half of it before he started on the pizza. Pizza as it should be, thin and nice crust. Service was fantastic. Prices may be on the steep end, and there are heaps of cheaper place in the area which provide decent food.
Try the chicken Valentino..... It's AMAZING!! Always enjoy the food here. The pizzas are delicious and the service really friendly. Definitely recommend!
Love the pizzas here because they have thin crust and the toppings are quite good. The gamberi and basilico special pizza are recommended! I also had the risotto rice balls and the pasta which were quite nice, although the portion of the pasta is on the small side.

We have been coming here for years. The food is pretty consistent and tasty. We like the pizzas, but the service lets it down. The service is good when it is busy but when it is quiet is is hard to get some service? we will give it another go in a few months
Loved this restaurant, had the most amazing experience, staff were friendly and quick to serve. Favourite part of the night was the desert pizza (Pizza base with Belgium chocolate, strawberries & ice-cream) Will definitely go back again.
First time here last night. Busy for a Wednesday night. I must say this is the best pizza ive had in years. this place is a hidden treasure. Service was great and dessert with delicious too. Will go back.
Great Food, Great Service. I've come here a couple of times with my wife and every time we are absolutely ecstatic with the whole experience. The food is exceptional and they give you very large portions, especially the pizzas, they are to die for. The service is wonderful and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Will be coming back again soon!
Gluten free pizza makes this one of the most gluten free friendly restaurants I have found
Delightful. Went to Basilico and used a voucher I had won. We loved it. The staff were friendly and attentive. Had meals from the specials list and loved everything about it. You won us over Basilico!!!
Great place. Pastas are excellent. Had the chocolate moouse, fantastic. This was the fourth or fifth time we've been here and have not been disappointed. Will be back soon. Although i miss the salmon risotto, the took it off the menu :(
Food is good but pizza is too salty & wait for 50 mins for the food....
My favourite! My friend and I always come here to get the Pollo pizza :)
So good!. This was my second time coming here and it was just as good the second time :) The staff are friendly and thoughtful. In a busy restaurant with a last minute booking, the only table left was at the front near the door on a chilly night. However, shortly after we arrived a couple up the back left and they quickly cleared the table and came and asked us if we would like to move to the back.
They took our order quickly and our food came out quickly and was delicious! Big serving sizes as well, we both couldn't finish our food. All reasonably priced.
Great food + great service = we will be back :)
Very nice food and maybe the best home made gnochi around town .chocolate pizza is a must have. one more thing need to point out is huge parking avaliable at the back. Much easier then kings way to call again.
Awesome pasta!. Just went for dinner service was great and the food was awesome! Ordered fettuccine carbonara and pollo and avocado risotto. Very impressed will be back for sure!
I've been going here for years. The wood fired pizzas are a must and are just delicious! The pastas are good to share and the home made desserts always hit the spot (love the lemon tart). Staff are all so friendly which makes it so nice to be there. This is my favourite pizza place
Cute little place!!. This place is really cute!! the staff provide excellent service and the food is really yummy!!! i had the pasta from the specials board which was spaghetti with spicy meatballs and it was scrumptious!! the meatballs were sooo tender!! they do really nice woodfired pizzas too! would recommend this place for a nice quiet meal :)
Awesome pizzas! Went there with big family and everyone was happy with their food. Will definitely be back!
Great pizza. Nice thin base with good quality ingredients. Try chocolate pizza for dessert if you are a die hard chocolate fan.
