I ordered some fried chicken from bbq code for delivery and I was not disappointed. I got the half and half of soy garlic and sweet chili flavour. Both were amazing, the sweet chili sauce was thick and sticky, not spicy, and the garlic was sweet and salty. The chicken was fried really well and packaged well too. I am very happy with their service.
My sister and I went to get takeaway during COVID restrictions and everything was so delicious! The staff present were very friendly and welcoming.
I completely forgot to modify my order to make it pregnancy-friendly but when my sister went to collect the food, not only did they give us 10% off but he said that he made sure the egg was well done because I was pregnant. Such a kind and considerate man! I really appreciated it!
Really enjoyed our experience today. All the food and condiments were great. The kfc fried chicken is so crunchy! And the bulgogi was very tasty and tender. I would’ve liked a wine selection or bottled beer, but was satisfied with the glass of Asahi I ordered. The staff are very friendly and professional, and the maitre made sure to use my name as per my booking and I really appreciated that. A really nice personal touch. Thank you.
Ordered delivery bbq set. Galbi and wagyu were really nice, melting in your mouth although it is delivery food! They sent food on the wrong day and gave me the free food and sent the correct one the next day. Great customer service. Will order again. Thank you
Fantastic, love the place, great food and service
Pig code (for 2) + 2 plain rice surcharge for eftpos)>
First time I been here, gave me the sense of authentic Korean ambient, a bit small and maybe because of Xmas so the staffs weren’t seem friendly and taken care of the customers as much as they can? But overall me and my friends really enjoyed our dinner with 2 set of pork and beef BBQ for 4 ppl. Gonna come back!
They had me at wagyu wednesdays. 20% off on Wednesdays. The beef was delicious. I love that they cooked for you. There was 5 of us so we order the set plus kimchi pancake, kfc and the noodles. On top of soju and beer. Only ended up paying $39pp soo good. Will come back again
Eaten here a few times and always satisfied with the quality and quantity of the food for a relatively good price. A few staff members go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable. Also good to see they have discount prices on certain days/times. Definitely will continue to be a regular customer here.
Excellent service from staff! We had the Pig code that was extremely tasty and in generous servings too!
Been there twice somehow, a very good restaurant, staff were friendly even they were extremely busy. Enjoyed to cook meat in a date, feel more interactive. However, food portion is not enough for a small group, not enough for everone to try a bite.
Reasonable priced food for such fresh, delicious tasting meats! Ordered two BBQ sets as we had a table for four which ensured we had plenty to eat (with some to take home). I suggest for a table of 4, one set (with all the sides that are included such as a stew, corn cheese) is plenty, and adding meats seperately is advised as we ended up doubling on all the additional sides (not complaining but was very filling!).
Downside: Ventilation is not great. Furthermore, there are power sockets sticking out of the ground everywhere you walk - something definitely worth considering if elderly, etc. visit as they are a clear tripping hazard.
Would come back again.
We had a great time here with friendly service and it wasn’t as smokey as most KBBQ places. They had a drink special 2 for 1 cocktail which was nice.
Highlights: The Beef set for 2 was a good deal, for $100 for 2ppl we got 3 different types of beef cuts, gyoza, cheesy corn, kimchi soup, sides and salad. I loved it all.
Lowlights: the rice was jasmine instead of medium grain like the usual which I prefer. Kimchi soup didn’t have a strong kimchi flavour which i prefer but some might like it that way.
Overall loved it and we will be back!
I love this place for the reasonably priced KBBQ sets.
The sets come with lots of side dishes (eg. Corn cheese, stew, salads) which are super yummy too!
The ban-chan are also refillable which is a definite plus.
The meats are pretty good- quality and flavour wise.
This place is always so packed, so it is super loud all the time and hence isn't the most suitable place for a catchup or to have a continuous conversation.
The ventilation could be better too.
Sometimes when it is very busy, it may be difficult to get the attention of the waiter/waitress, but they definitely take care of your meats!
Made a booking for dinner on Sunday night and the restaurant was bustling. Crowd was mixed, but mainly younger type crowd with music pumping throughout the restaurant. Ordered a variety of dishes. Beef Code, Seafood Pancake & the fried chicken. All the dishes were great! Can't fault the service either. Waiters were very good. A positive is that the BBQ sets also include side dishes as well as salad/cheese corn etc. Would return. From inside the restaurant looks like they also have lunch specials for 10-20% off BBQ sets for weekend lunch.
Came here with a group of 8, seating was a little bit cramped, but hey it's KBBQ and you're there to enjoy the wonders of seeing delicious meat being cooked in front of you. One thing I'd like to point out is that you can place your jackets/coats etc into the barrel seat, which is such a great idea so at least your coat doesn't smell like KBBQ when you leave. This is the second time coming here and it's still as good as the first time.
Now to the food, first of all, the side dishes are awesome (kimchi, fish cake & OMG they have the delicious mash potatoes😍), we also ordered the pork set which came with a side salad, corn cheese and a small tofu kimchi stew, seafood pancake, KFC (of course😜), bibimbap (stone bowl rice), Tteokbokki (Korean rice cake) and some Angus beef for the grill.
The food came quickly and was delicious, the meats were marinated perfectly and the other dishes were great also. One highlight was definitely the fried chicken, meat was tender and the batter was light and crispy, would highly recommend for all my friend chicken lovers out there😉
Great for groups that just want to have a good meal while having a few drinks. Oh forgot to mention that they provide hot corn tea for the table, as we came with my family, the older generation was very happy to be served a hot tea rather than ice cold water.
4.7/5💪
Extremely reasonably priced for Korean bbq. All the meat was fresh and tender, my favourite being the pork belly in the pork set. All side dishes were wonderful as well, and they have apples in the kimchi!
I’ve been to BBQ Code a couple of times now, and it doesn’t fail to disappoint. The food is filling and enjoyable, and the customer service is always exceptional.
The only tiny criticism I can think of is how loud the atmosphere is, you must constantly yell over the loud Korean pop music to communicate with each other, which results in everyone at every table yelling over each other.
Overall, a great experience for a fun night out with your mates.
Food is delicious and love the service. The staff come and help you cook or you can do it yourself. I would recommend getting the package if you have 3 people - it's a little too much for 2 people and you leave feeling quite stuffed.
It is quite small so I wouldn't recommend large groups over 8 as it gets quite crammed. Overall the place was good and would come back.
Great to get your kbbq fix if you’re local! Set menus make it really for you decide with plenty side dishes that will make you full. Fyi be patient with the waiters as they do tend to get really busy.

Overall, the experience was good and I really liked the grilled meat. However, I was not fond of the beef tataki. It was too sweet for me and the fried chicken was sub-par.
High quality meats and delicious. Sides served are generous and I love the apple kimchi. Prices are very slightly higher than average. A cute and cosy place to eat in glenny.
I would recommend getting japchae and pork belly. They were two biggest stand out for us in a group of 4. We also had kimchi and seafood pancake which was pretty good but filling. Super good service and cosy with a bunch of friends. Would recommend and is a bit on the pricey side but would come again.
I love the the Bbq set!! The set come with two to three kinds of meat (depends on your choice) rice, pancake and kimchi soup and corn cheese which are my favorites!! The side dishes are amazing and unique. I love the smash potato side dish which was juicy and flavorful come with pickle apple which is good as well. Recommended!!
Second time I’ve been here and loved it both times.
I would recommend getting the meat and Bibimbap to share. That way you split the costs and it works out very reasonably priced - approx $25 - $30 per person.
Good quality food, good service. Thank you.
2 of us ordered the shared Beef BBQ at the cost of $88. The set came with cheese corns, kimchi soup, 3 types of beef, potato noodles and side dishes. We couldn’t finish them all. Service was excellent and staffs were very attentive. Meats had good quality.
Ps: if you have to go out after dinner, watch out for the BBQ smells. Their fans could not cope with the BBQ smokes when the restaurant is busy.
Super good service! Everyone helped us out with what to pick, helped grill our food and gave us free kimchi and sides. Food was amazing but it’s a bit pricy. Recommend the spicy rice cakes and the cheesy corn. Probably the best kimchi I’ve had at Kbbq and would definitely come again.
Not usually the place I go for BBQ, yet they did surprise me with their meat quality, in a good way. Like the other average BBQ stores, their Wagyu beef is also not that great, however their standard beef code set is amazing.
Came here with a rather large group for a birthday celebration and I must say the staff were very accommodating. The food was very delicious, seafood pancakes were soft and chewy but cripsy on the edge and the bbq pork set, which our table ordered, was definitely a lot for two people. The staff cooked the meat for us and constantly refilled our condiments and side dishes. Would highly recommend for a group of any size.
Good but not exceptional Korean Bbq place. We ordered 4 code pork belly which is pork belly marinated in 4 different ways. I really liked 1 of the marinate, the other 3 were ok. Ordered a stir fried glass noodles with beef and seafood pancake. The noodle was not as good as the other Korean places that we've been to. There was way too little beef in there. They should've called it vegi noodle :)) if u read my review, u know i love my meat. Pan cake seafood was good but again, the amount of seafood was way too little.
Order the Beef Dolsot bibimbap, dukkbokki, korean fried chicken in gochujang and the japchae and you're in for a delicious and satisfying treat of a meal! They used to have the corn cheese which was amazeballs but sadly, that's no longer on the menu. BBQ sets are a recommended surety too. Oh and their home made banchan kimchi is addictive...sooo good! No extra charge for top ups! Score!!
Can't fault the service either - friendly FOH staff all the way. Not the biggest space but I kinda like it that way - cosy and intimate with soothing lighting - relaxing on the eyes without causing strain when trying to focus on the food or company. And if you rock up without a booking on a busy night and manage to secure a spot that's time-boxed, rest assured that they'll remember that they need the table back at the time they said they want it back, so dont linger and eat up (but enjoy the meal and don't give yourself indigestion)!
Good service and not bad taste.good price too.but the hot plate after cook long time turned to black. Hope the owner will change better hot plate.
The service is so quick and they are really on the ball. The staff are always moving and very helpful. Our helper didn't realise you are not supposed to mix the cooked meat with the raw ones and kept putting them together! I had to separate them on the stove and point it out.
The food and meat are pretty good. There's some nice corn cheese and sides. The ones we had in the set menu did not have marinade so were a little dry. The stove is also not as hot to cook the meat compared to the hot coals at other korean bbq places. You will average close to $30 per head plus drinks for standard orders.
The fried wings are ok and were very oily. I think it needed to sit out before being packed. You can only take away the small size which is $14 for 7. If you eat in you can only get the large fried wings for $28. Chickilia nearby has nicer wings by comparison.
Service : 4/5
Food: 4/5
Great place to hang out and have Korean BBQ with a group of friends. Prices are a tad more on the pricy side but it's definitely one of the best K-BBQ place I've been to. Love the friendly service and the free side dish refills. The potato side dish is bomb! Unfortunately during the time we went the fryer was broken hence we couldn't get the gourmet fried chicken but we still enjoyed the amazing bibimbap, cheesy corn and noodles.
Came here with a table of 7. Food came out very quickly and everything was delicious. We ordered the pork code and beef code along with a kimchi pancake and rice cake dish.
The code sets came with the usual ban Chan, a stew and corn cheese. The total for all of us was $205 which comes out to be about $30 pp. will be back
Mate and I came here for dinner. Great service, fresh and tasty food. Price is standard Korean BBQ. Definitely recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeh pretty good. Good idea to go with the set menu, free corn and cheese which we wasn't expecting. So would definitely come back for my Korean fix.
Came here for a birthday dinner with prior reservation. The restaurant was not as noticeable since it's tucked away in a corner of the street.
The feel of this restaurant is quite cosy and have relatively few tables, I would recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. We ordered the Beef set and Wagyu Beef set. The Wagyu Beef set was amazingly delicious! It is nice that they provide extra side dishes on top of the usual banchan like salads and soups.
Overall, the service is good considering how busy they can be. I would think twice about coming back though as the dishes and BBQ sets come with a hefty price tag.
BBQ beef set was good value as it comes with soup, japchae and cheesey corn - more than enough for us 4! Marinades were too sweet for my liking but the ribs were delicious. Ordered extra marinaded pork belly which we could've done without. Flavourless, overly fatty, average at best.
Having read other reviews I agree the seafood pancake was soft but the tteokbokki wasn't too bad. Service was fantastic and food was alright. Limited space so booking is advisable. Will return but not in a hurry!
Lunch was packed full of flavour and value!
Took the family for a casual lunch and decided to give this new Korean eatery a try. We ordered a few dishes including the Korean Fried Chicken. Everything was delicious and well balanced. We ordered small serving sizes which were generously portioned.
We left full and satisfied. Service was friendly and efficient. Will def give it a go for dinner.
For a new establishment, it is surprisingly well run restaurant with excellent customer service. We had beef code KFC Bibimbap - yum.
It's still relatively easy to get a table at the moment but get in quick before the words get out.
Service - 5/5
Food - 3/5
Price - $40 to $50 pp
Dined here on 2 occasions. Both times, staff were friendly and helpful. Service is fast and efficient. The food is a bit above average.. Nothing to rave about. You get free corn and cheese so that's a plus.
Great place to get your korean bbq fix ✌
I wasn't expecting much but ended up being pleasantly surprised by the food. In a similar fashion to Mrs Kim's Grill, this restaurant served up great meats with decent marinades, which did enough to offset the fact that charcoal is not used in the BBQ process. The pork belly was very good--the pork set came with a variety of flavours. As i said, the pork itself was good, but I feel that many of the marinades needed more character, the flavour was not present enough. The beef set was good, although I thought the scotch fillet could have been better quality and more tender. It also came with beef tongue, some galbi flavours and a few other things. The galbi marinades had better presence of flavour than did the pork belly ones. Certain a-la-carte dishes were also impressive. The japchae was excellent--this one wasn't too oily and had a great wok charred flavour. It was however, a very small serving, I think they should make a bigger sized one too. The KFC was average, but I enjoyed it dipped in the sweet and spicy gochujang, which i'd never had paired together before. The Kim chi pancake had decent flavour but was too soft and not crispy, while the kimchi soup was good. It had a nice variety of ingredients, although i think all of these thickened the soup a bit too much. I didn't much enjoy the seating arrangement, as our biggish group were at a long, high table and perched high on narrow bar chairs. Not the most comfortable way to eat table cooked Korean BBQ in my personal opinion. I can understand why they have this table in such a way though, as the place has a small seating space and this arrangement helps to conserve it. May come again but only likely for a shotgun KBBQ experience.
Went here for on my birthday with my family and I gotta say it's the best Korean restaurant in glen Waverley in my opinion 💖
The service was so fast and the side dishes were amazing but it left me wanting more. The price is a bit expensive but it's all worthy. We have to book for dinner because it is always busy. So remember to book at dinner time whenever you come!
We order the pork belly for BBQ and I gotta say it's so good !!! There wasn't too much fat which i liked. The fried chicken were so crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside which makes me feel so satisfy 😌 The seafood pancake were average. The dol sot bibimbap is worth a try and it is quite a large serving too 😀 The kimchi soup is a must, it is serve boiling hot and eating it makes my mouth melt because it's so good !!!
I would 100% recommend this place and I'll sure come another time with my friends and family.
My favourite korean restaurant in all of Melbourne! Service is usually decent, the food is yummy and pricing is competitive. My favourites are the Korean bbq, bimimbap and japchae. Even the side dishes here are tasty and delicious, always asking for seconds! ☺️
While I fancy the "one bowl" concept, popularized by Asian countries, I am a lot more reserved when it comes to barbeque meals because often enough, the protein is not well prepared (imagine overcooking a thin piece of meat or undercooking a thick slab of pork/chicken) and I usually leave the establishment with a toasty scent that ensues a bath soon after.
I cannot praise this little Korean BBQ shop enough.
The staff were super friendly and fast, and the food was delicious. We got the "beef code" share platter (serves 2-3 for $88) and at first it didn't look like much but when we started but boy were we wrong.
It came with 3 kinds of meats, ox tongue, steak and marinated beef ribs, there was also jap chae (sweet potato glass noodles) and soup (choose from tofu or kimchi). They also gave us a complimentary corn cheese (it wasn't listed in the menu in the share platter) and then you get your complimentary servings of kimchi, fish cake, mash potatoes and pickled onions.
We only got 2 things extra from the menu which (besides drinks) which was the apple kimchi and a serving of steamed rice, we were struggling to finish everything.
The place was kind of small for a kbbq joint but still wonderful nonetheless, we went on a Monday night around 530 and it wasn't busy.
It's so great with definitely be back! The decor is cool, the staff are attentive and helpful and the bbq most importantly is so yummy!
I went with a friend and just got the beef fillet and the marinated beef fillet - both were delicious and all of the accompaniments were tasty - especially the mashed potato (it has other veggies through it) and the kimchi! We were the first ones here and it was our first time so it was extra nice when the restaurant took it upon themselves to give us a complimentary side dish - corn and cheese bowl... Don't understand why it's just corn and cheese and a few other little sprinkles but it's so good and moorish so definitely recommended!
Give this place a go it is totally worth the time!
I went yesterday for my friend's birtday.
We had a wagyu set, meat was so fresh and tasty, the soup was delicious!
Place is clean, very busy and great service.
Will come back.
So good on a cold wintry night. We booked a table last minute for 8.30pm and got seated a little earlier. Prompt service and tasty food -- we tried the wagyu beef, pork belly, kimchi soup, seafood pancake and apple kimchi. We'll be back!
Lately I have been going through a Korean phase, having visited many Korean restaurants in the past week or two. This time I had my sight sets on the Korean BBQ of BBQ code which is a newer restaurant and one of the only Korean BBQ restaurants in Glen Waverley.
This restaurant is usually fully booked so reservation is a must and there's a reason why. Given the number of Korean reataurants in the area, this is the only restaurant that does Korean BBQ at the table. The marinated meats can be ordered in sets or individual dishes - either way, they're well marinated however, portions are small and a little expensive. The Korean dishes like tteokbokki and japchae are amazing and the portions are generous. The fried chicken a.k.a KFC, is very standard - bland but very crunchy and served with a dipping sauce instead of covered in sauce. All side dishes are complimentary. The menu does not have dessert options and drinks are limited to soft drinks and alcohol only.
When Meega closed a couple of months ago, I needed a new place to get fix for Korean food in Glen Waverly. For the longest time I’ve been looking for a place that does really good bibibap, and I think I’ve found it. Welcome to BBQ Code, Glen Waverly’s newest addition to Korean cuisine. I can’t comment much on the quality of the BBQ options they have but I can say with certainty that they do some of the classics really well.
My girlfriends and I decided to try this new Korean place out because we heard some good reviews about it. We were hungry so we basically decided to order evening, from Korean BBQ and fried chicken to dukkboki and seafood pancake. Food was great, nothing really to fault. The service was the highlight of the night, and gave the experience a good vibe. Overall, would totally recommend for a good feed in this cold weather !
Had dinner here with seven others on a Monday night. We had;
- Ddukbokki: Generous serving and perfect portion for eight people. Sauce was spicy and thick. The ddukbokki tasted fresh and were not over-cooked.
- Yangpun Bibimbap: Generous serving once again. We should have only ordered one, not two. The gojuchang and soy sauce were left on the table which allowed everyone to add it according to their taste. Plenty of beef, spinach, bean sprouts, cucumber, carrots and mushrooms. Rice was cooked well - not too sticky and not too dry. Sesame oil was not overpowering.
- KFC: came with a sweet chilli sauce and pickled radishes. The chicken was tender and juicy with a delicious crispy batter. Definitely consider only ordering this and no more than two other dishes if eaten between four people.
- BBQ Beef Brisket, BBQ Ox Tongue, four way marinaded Pork Belly: The meats were delicious. The bbq came with a soya bean, and salt and pepper dip, side salad which included spring onions, and a light sesame oil, soy sauce and onion dip. There was one slice of zucchini, one slice of pumpkin and one slice of king oyster mushroom. Now here lies my criticism. The ratio of vegetable slices to meat was silly. At least provide two slices per vegetable between four people.
- Seafood pancake: generous amount of seafood that you can see in the pancake, and it was perfectly spiced with real chillies. The pancake was flavoured well and had a nice and crispy, while tender inside.
Banchan was kimchi (delicious), a potato mash which was little too sweet, steamed broccoli with gojuchang (good portion). Not sure if refills are complimentary, but we didn't need it. We didn't receive any beansprouts which I now realise as I type this!
Service was quite good. The waiters cooked the meats for us, but left us alone to enjoy our meal. They were prompt and efficient, though we were the only customers there at the time. Beers were served cold and fresh. This was one of the better kbbq places that I've been to in Melbourne, and I can justify the prices set on the menu.
Bonus: The salad provided with the BBQ came with spring onions which not a lot of places do. It wasn't dressed as Pajeori though, which I would have preferred. I also didn't leave dinner reeking of bbq smoke.
Would come back here again to try other menu items, and to re-order their KFC.
I tried their bibimbap and seafood pancake which were extremely good! The service was excellent and the staff was really nice. It was definitely value for money and I can't wait to go there again. The next thing for me to try is their BBQ and it smelt really good from the other tables. Two thumbs up!
Excellent!! Friendly staff and good quality food we had bbq and korean cold noodle so nice👍🏻
Best Korean BBQ in Glen waverley
I am happy to come again💕
I've been here twice now and love it! I've been longing for a decent kbbq restaurant in Glen Waverley!
The staff are friendly and are actually Korean so come say anhyongseyo (hello) when you visit!
I would recommend that you come in a group so you can try a variety and more things on the menu! Everything I've tried so far is great!
Although the size is quite small and with limited seating, it is best to make reservations first.
And who doesn't love their side dishes! The side dishes are delicious and complimentary with sets however I am unsure whether they offer free refills as we've never asked and they've never taken them away until after we finished our meals.
Overall a good experience and would love to come back and try their soju/wine next time :)
Hip Korean joint for youngsters and families! We made a booking for dinner earlier today, which is highly recommended! Fairly new restaurant, service was exceptional!! Good job boys- very attentive and caters to customers needs! I enjoyed the vibe and great Rnb old school songs! Very filling feed- we had the beef set and ordered extra KFC. The KFC is a large serving- definately feeds 4+ people, had to take away it! Would recommend this place- but make sure you book in advance and come on an empty stomach!
BBQ Code is another new kid on the block, replacing Thai Yim on the corner of O'Sullivan and Springvale Roads, next to The Glen Centro. It sits next door to Shira Nui which has a pretty large following and although it is a bit of a walk away from the main restaurant hub of Glen Waverley, it does still get their fair share of diners.
It was pretty quiet when we arrived, but picked up quite a bit before we left. The staff were friendly and the dishes were brought out pretty quickly.
Some of the tables arrived after us for the Korean BBQ set and were done with their meals left well before we did! This could have been because we were here for the ala carte menu so it took longer to prepare. I am definitely keen to come back and try their BBQ set because it did look really good, but the Yuk Jeon would be first on my list to order.
Check out the review of BBQ Code in the blog post below.
It was our first night out for months and it was a good choice! Nice and well ventilated so not too smoky or stuffy. Tasty food and helpful staff. Our waiter was so accommodating and all the staff were so friendly it made the night even more.
Wanted a bibimbap and Meega was closed, so we walked around the corner to check out the new Korean restaurant. Slightly pricey but tasted fresh and the stone pot was hot enough to make the rice at the bottom all crispy. Friendly and effecient service. Would recommend. Yet to try the kbbq.
Service was excellent. The waiters are very attentive and for a Korean place, I love when I get copious amounts of Kimchi (just as long as I don't have to beg, it's all gee). The waiter was very nice and offered to refill the Kimchi, and changed our bottle of water without me even asking! So, two thumbs up from me, and even the bf thought the service was good. Meat was also delicious, most of them weren't frozen, except for the ox tongue, if you're looking for fresh meat. Fried chicken was incredibly crunchy, wish they'd serve other parts instead of just wings and drumlets, but the batter is really good, so it saved that dish. This place is on the pricey side, but going in bigger parties would definitely lessen the blow to the wallet.
With so many places serving average food in the area, one can't help be cautious when trying a new place in Glen Waverley. I only have to think as far back as the previous tenant of this shoplot (Thai Yim) to recall the "once is enough" experience I had there. (for those interested, Thai Yim is now in Mount Waverley on Andrew St off Highbury Road.) That said I was pleasantly surprised when BBQ surpassed my expectations.
The staff were very attentive and all spoke good English (you would be surprised how many student workers don't speak much English when dining at Korean haunts in Sydney like Eastwood and Strathfield!)
We tried the Wagyu rib eye and the regular short rib (galbi). I much preferred the galbi. It was tender and delicious. The wagyu was a bit disappointing as it turn out dry. It could be the heating element they used in their stove. To cook beef well you need a high heat. I will make a point in asking the waiters how to control the heat next time as all the controls are in Korean.
A slow prolonged cooking process with 'stew' it and dry it out. On that note, although it will never be as good as a charcoal table top cooker, the electric cookers were well ventilated and we didn't feel stuffy at all. Be warned though, don't wear your best Armani here, you will still walk out stinking like BBQ!
I was a bit disappointed they didn't have Naengmyeon on the menu. This is a cold buckwheat noodle dish which is traditionally eaten after BBQ to cool oneself down. It has a clear beef based broth and is very refreshing. The closest they had was a cold spicy kimchi soup noodle. Definitely not cooling!
We will definitely be back. This time, I will stick with galbi and maybe try other items on the menu like their pork or the Korean fried chicken wings.
Customer service was great! Very friendly and damn, one of the staff knows about Shinhwa, my fav Korean group aka longest running idols! Bibimbap was alright, not good not bad. Bbq was great though, the meats are of high quality even I had to ordered separate because there were no sets. A bit pricey but worth it. Definitely love thw marinated wagyu rib eye

Korean food is so hot right now in Melbourne, and not just because it is nearly always served with that lovely fermented side dish called Kimchi. Melbourne fell in love with Korean food quite some time ago with its classic dishes of Bibimbap, bulgogi and fried chicken. A couple of weeks ago I spied a brand new Korean BBQ restaurant opening up in the Glen Waverley dining precinct, right next door to the ever popular Shira Nui. With its black and white paint work, clean lines and neat timber furnishings, BBQ Code looked like somewhere I would like to dine. Yesterday I got to try the food and I was not disappointed. In fact I am now a little smitten.
Food was nice, service was great, however serving size was small and bill was expensive, will come back at sometime, but not in a hurry though.
WOW WOW!!! Fantastic restaurantt!!!!!One of my korean friend introduced it to me so I went to try last weekend. All the staff are friendly and nice, the food is so typical and delicous especiall the beef!! Also, good location, just 5 mins walk from the railway station. Will go to next time FOR SURE!!
I went BBQ Code with my husband and we were so satisfied with food and their services especially Koran style BBQ grill and KFC.
I orderd 3 main meals and paid reasonably.
So clean and friendly staff.
I will definitely go and try other meals as well.
My husband loves BBQ Code!!
great place which has recently opened. The wait was long but well worth it. Pork belly is really fresh with no bad lingering taste you get from some other korean bbq places and the korean fried chicken was great, tender and soft yet has a crispy batter. The ribs are well marinated and sweet. Great service, only down fall is that you come out smelling like bbq since the vents are high up and dont suck out the smoke.
Really outstanding korean food. Great urban atmosphere with fantastic decor. Friendly and prompt service is a warm welcome. Will be looking forward to coming here again to experience these great tastes again! 5/5
Price for two people $50-70
Very happy about our Korean lunch break! The portions are huge, we might’ve over ordered... I loved the sizzling chicken cheese hot plate, and I saw the table next to us ordering bibimbap which looked so good! It’s cheap, delicious and authentic:)
Glad that we found this hidden gem in Glen Waverley area. Small restaurant but friendly and welcoming environment. Price was reasonable and food was great.
1. Pork kimchi stew - 4/5
2. Boneless Fried chicken - 3/5
- it’s like fried sliced chicken
3. Bimbibab chicken with spicy sauce - 5/5
- it’s really good. Worth a try
The atmosphere is your typical glen waverley Asian in other words cosy but not decadent which is actually what you'd want. Fancy Asian restaurants are not worth it. TLDR this place is good and I would come back again.
More detail:
The first thing about the Korean restaurant you notice is the quality of their "free" side dishes that come with every meal. Usually they have a selection of cold mini plates and this time I'm a little disappointed. There was no pickled radish. The alternative ones are pretty bland except for the kimchi which is excellent as you'd expect from the name of the restaurant.
However the main dishes were of high quality and I thoroughly enjoyed the ones I ordered. The soybean soup was very hearty and goes well with rice. The beef BBQ plate has amazing flavours to go along with the generous serve of sliced beef.
Pancake was the BEST ones I've had in glen waverley. Outstanding crispness and not too oily. There was big pieces of seafood and I'm very happy with that.
Overall it's a lovely Korean restaurant with good portion size and I hope next time I come there will be some pickled radish.
Had the Bibimbap and the black bean noodles and both were excellent. Would recommend!
Really enjoyed the BBQ chicken with cheese. Customer service was 5 stars, food was tasty.
Love the soup, very original..
Teriyaki is always the best yet we might try the seafood pancake.
