Review Ajisen Ramen - Glen Waverley

Jessica
Great place for some ramen in the Glen Waverly area. Flavours from the first time I visited was amazing. Came back the second time and was just short of the first experience but neverthless would still visit again. My go-to is the Chasyu Ramen, followed by the Karaage Ramen (with some chasyu of course). The spicy gyoza is a definite must as well!

Went on a busy weekend towards closing, greeted from far of by Multitasking service staff, nice and friendly , didn't rushed for taking order took order on table as we didn't had tablet to punch our order directly. We ordered Chashyu Ramen and Sizzling Sea food platter Chashyu Ramen : Excellent Pork broth with tender and cut think pork slices with warm Noodles with very little mushrooms. Spot on, fast service since it's prepared. 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sizzling Sea food platter : Beautiful mixed sea food platter with very rich prepared white sauce (cream and butter) I suppose but bang on buck for taste....Could have been slightly more seasoned but that's each to their taste. The fact it says SIZZLING SEA FOOD PLATTER and it's not sizzling puts me off as I'm a sizzler lover and now a days it's so uncommon to get what you see described in menu, henceforth 3 ⭐⭐⭐ Otherwise highly Recommended

Popular fresh daily noodle bar but with soup and rice dishes generous servings and fast service all served on small wooden stools and tables. Casual and intimate fun … may have to queue. Affordable favourite.

Nice place, food was great and staff as well.

Very nice food and alot of distinguish flavours , fast service and good staff

The menu and smell of the broth reminded me of the old school Ajisen Ramen from the 2000's. However, this place restaurant sadly lacked the atmosphere that one expects from a franchise chain restaurant that originated from Japan. The staff did not wear appropriate uniforms. It felt like you were being served by your friend's uncle at their family Chinese restaurant. Nothing wrong with that, just not what is expected from an Ajisen Ramen chain. There was a lot of shouting between the kitchen and the restaurant floor, that adds to the chaotic atmosphere. The food came and had missing components (egg) and a side of rice. The broth was typical Ajisen Ramen. Delicious and expected. Unfortunately, that is where the compliments end. The classic tori katsu (fried crumbed pork) was cooked to an inch of it's life and the meat tasted slightly questionable. The crumb (or lack thereof) was flat and dark, suggesting the piece was pre-fried some time ago. Do yourself a favour and give this shop a miss. It went past it's best use date many years ago.

I always a fan of their Ramen but last time I ordered the grilled mackerel and it was soooo fishy. Maybe it’s the characteristic of this kind of fish? But it was better when I ordered the same thing from the other restaurants. Their miso soup was alright but serving very small ($5 with a bowl of rice) Might still come back for their ramen though

Been to other Ajisen Ramen but this one in Glen Waverley was not the best. The Ramen soup i ordered tasted ordinary. The rest was yummy. The staff were attentive but find them not friendly.

Always a pleasureable experience, hot, quick and flavoursome. Recommend the gyoza ramen and agadeshi tofu.

Loved the noodles I had their yesterday

ramenlicous will eat here again for sure... reasonably priced

very average japanese food - i would recommend going across the road to waya instead. we tried a range of their ramen, gyoza and some other small dishes and for the price point it really wasn’t that great. lots more options along kingsway!

I had ajisen long time ago in cbd, like about 6 years ago and it was nothing like this. I was impressed with their ipad ordering. I have to say their price isnt cheap, most ramen are like $16 and even more for fancier ones. I had beef kimchi ramen and it was beautiful! It was my first time having kimchi ramen and I would say it complements ramen really well! I would say the portion is just enough for me. So overall, it isnt cheap but it has the quality. So glad to know I can get my ramen fix from this franchise.

The ramen was delicious and filling. The service was also very quick and efficient. Highly recommend!

Food was actually surprisingly good, for a restaurant of that quality. The stuff were extremely uncooperative and unhelpful. And treated the Japanese customers as if we were inferior to them. The food is good, but it isn’t worth gaining money for that company and the staff that work in it.
Bindiya Kripalani-Mirpuri
Service was just terrible. Chn refused to assist in anyway. Was outright rude. Sun refused to share manager details. The food was extremely average but the service made the experience miserable

This was the second time to eat here.
Absolutely lovely staff, good service
Great food. Fresh and tasty and very quick service.
Joshua Osborne
Decent, consistent ramen. Not the best/porkiest broth around but is lifted with seasonings. Great portion size/value for money
Eric Chen
Ordered some ramen through dliveroo and was extremely disapointed at the presentation as well as quality of food. The temperature of the food was close to uneatable and the soup had split. In saying this, the eat in has always provided decent experience, however never ordering delivery again.

Entered on a quiet Thursday for lunch. Ordered the chaysu ramen. The chaysu itself was soft and melted in the mouth. The soup broth was mild and underwhelming. I felt that the gyoza spicy sauce was overly acidic. The geso karaage was crispy and paired well with the mayonnaise.
Ed
Ordered the spicy pork ramen and was very nice. I rate this 4 stars with consideration that it’s a chain restaurant; the food isn’t totally authentic or high quality- but it’s filling, good value, and tasty.
As a franchise, I’ve noticed ajisen have consistency and reliability.
Definitely intend to return.

Calling all Ramen lovers 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️
Ajisen Ramen has a huge variety of ramen which will satisfy all tastebuds! The food is absolutely delicious, reasonably priced and the serving portions are huge! I had the chargilled beef ramen and would 100% order it again.

Always a safe net of mine in Kingsway! I love their food! Super tasty & affordable! Recommend if you are unsure of what to eat around kingsway! Definitely give it a go! Nothing too special however the food is always delicious every time I come!

Went here for a casual dinner! Ramen being the best among the dishes we ordered! The fried chicken we felt was too much ginger. The pork was good but spicy. Also the prawns were pretty decent. I would overall rate this place an average would go agaim only for the ramen
Ruth Li
Food is fantastic here, really satisfies any ramen cravings you have. The portions are decent sized and reasonably priced. Only downside I found was the staff were a little unwilling to serve, impatient and quite rude when you changed your mind.

Overall, still a great place to come for a bite to eat!
Faizah Meow
Their tori don dish is filled with rice and barely any chicken and it’s more like fried chicken with rice rather than a proper dish. Taste is meh and nothing impressive
Lily Tang
The ramen here is pretty good. The ramen is pretty basic but I still love it. The egg is so good and I usually get the chasyu ramen or kimchi ramen. The egg is the best part of the whole dish tbh

Regular ramen shop I used to go. Sometime you need to line up during the busy hours. Near the glen central and is so hard to find the parking all the time.

My rating : 2.5/5

We frequented this place as it was convenient when craving for some warm soup and ramen.
Ambience : 3/5. Moderate setting. With wooden table and bench. It did not feel like I was going to a Japanese restaurant.
Food : 3/5. Everything tasted instant from the broth and the ramen. Large portions; however the taste was other bland or too salty.
Service : 2/5. Awful. Please do not expect Japanese manners when you’re here. The waitress that took our orders did not look like she wanted to be there. Not even a nod or a smile. A few of them were standing at the counter but none of them were attentive enough to attend to the diners without the diners having to waive their hands. Not the worst customer service experience but definitively in my bad books.

3.5
You know when you get the cravings for something quite specific? Well today that was gyoza and I wanted Pork pan fried so came to the perfect place for this. They came out very quickly with a nice gyoza sauce and I additional ordered a new menu item, the Nori Chips which actually Nori on pastry with sesame. Ajisen didn’t disappoint on this occasion.
Vivian
2.5
This place is great for a cheap eats but not my favorite place for ramen as the soup does not have that intense broth . The noodles do not seem like they are hand made either so essentially it just just a good place for a bowl of noodles
Maya S.
ordered the chargrilled beef ramen - cooked to medium rare. meat was nice and succulent. the soup was flavourful - however you could definitely taste the msg.
the service was pretty fast, friendly and attentive, and definitely affordable prices.
EatsByM
Although it’s almost always busy it’s a good cheap eats place if you’re craving ramen!
My favorite is the spicy pork, just the right amount of spiciness for me!

Having been to here for casual lunch many times. Their noodle soup and fried rice is always up to standard. Spacious seating area but lack of spots for customers to put their handbags and coats especially during winter. Perhaps they could copy the Japanese practice to put a basket near the sitting bench, so people do not have to carry their jackets while eating.

Tried their new dish Seafood Jalapeño Yaki noodle today, it looked nice but turned out very disappointed. The seafood were all very tried and over cooked, not fresh, plus the noodle was quite oily and no taste at all except the hot fr the Jalapeño and black peppers. Poor service today as well as one of the young girl served indifferently and rude. No luck.
George David Michaelides
- Edamame was soggy and unsalted
- bento box was full of msg and unsatisfying
- ramen was ok chicken crunchy but still lacked flavour was missing the chilli oil and only power chilli doesn’t suffice

It was a busy night on a friday and we decided to go to Ajisen ramen, craving for some ramen or bento.
Waya was busy and so as the other popular restaurants down the street.
We were wondering why ajisen was quiet, there was only two table occupied.
I ordered a bento and my mate ordered udon that they apparently do not have? But the lady “ordered” it and gave us ramen style. Then told us they don’t serve udons?
Service was hard to get by, having to wave around for service just to get more water.
Staffs were procrastinating and wasn’t really doing work but probably texting. They seemed more fixated on their gadgets rather than the service they could have provided.
I probably won’t be back at the glen waverley joint, I have had better service and better food at other locations for a franchise.
Somehow we ended up here after long deliberations of where to grab a quick lunch. I ordered a very average veggie curry which was deep fried, unseasoned eggplant and potato with some carrot on some curry sauce. It was very strange, they may well have put the curry in a separate bowl, it didn't seem put together at all. The rice itself was not bad. No one made any comments about their ramens and I did not care to ask. One of those mediocre chains that you're not sure how or why are still around...

My kids just loved their food, especially their Green tea spider drink. Their servings are decent size and we ordered Set meals to save some money. The fried rice, kutsu ramen and a glass of tea is Set B and the dumplings, Bbq pork Ramen and green tea is another Set A. We had an easy dinner, just nice for all of us. Btw, there are lotsa of new food on the menu..more Chinese style. I will try them next time. Looks good.

Delicious ramen with such great flavors. Noodles were a little soft but otherwise a hearty meal. Would have liked to feel a little bit more appreciated by the woman that greeted us, but otherwise staff were efficient. Will be returning !!
Bonnie Milnes
Always a yummy dish. Always a seat whenever I go!! Fast service and the broth is always A++, i get spicy beef and the meat is so tender and it literally melts in your mouth. The spice within the broth is perfect and seasoned to perfection. Can always count on aijisen for a hearty ramen ❣️❣️
Bear Noms
We usually get the samurai combo as you can get the ramen with an entree and green tea. The tan tan ramen is okay but the spicy pork ramen is good! Reminds me of Korean bbq mixed with ramen. The gyoza is yummy with generous meat filling. The soft shell crab is tasty as well. The crumbed fish fillet was average and the matcha red bean drink was a bit too sweet for my liking. Overall good ramen place👍🏼

We also recently tried the kimchi ramen and enjoyed it!
Streaky Eats
Tried the chargrilled beef ramen, supposedly one of their top. The ramen came with very weird looking beef, far from pictured and doesn't fit the description of being "chargrilled". 0 seasoning and 0 char. Tasted so bland there's not even a grain of salt on it, just tasted like expired beef. My friend tried and said it's not supposed to be like this and was supposedly epic from another branch. So this is quite an isolated case of bad ramen from the wrong branch.

I remember trying Ajisen 6 years back in the CBD outlet and loved it.
Angela Jess
This has got to be the worst Ajisen Ramen I have ever been to as a franchise. The meals are sloppy, the meat is chewy like the meat just came out of a freezer. On a busy street at Glen Waverley, with certainly great vibes and restaurants, this might be one of the worst restaurant on the popular kingsway street. You are better off going to Waya Waya, where everything is fresh, staff is prompt and greeting you with a friendly smile, whereas the ajisen ramen are hard to get service and they got one of our meals wrong without apologising. Overall bad service, bad food. I will be going to the franchise in melbourne central for higher quality service.
Stephanie Papazois
Nice outlet in the heart of glen waverly. Staff are friendly and menu is very big.. lots of ramen options. And heaps of vegetarian options too. Meals came out very quickly and portion sizes are quite decent.
Zest_of_life
This is the best Ajisen ramen outlet i've been to so far, and I loooove Ajisen. The staff were great and they actually asked me how I would like my beef chargrilled. That's never been an option offered to me at another outlet. The service was quick, the place was clean and the food was delicious. 👍
JT
An easy and quick place if you’re wanting tasty ramen, the restaurant can get loud during peak times and it can be difficult to grab the waitress’ attentions sometimes but they do their best and food is always consistent.
PS91
Generous portions at reasonable prices that will leave you satisfied and filled. Some faves are the Salmon or Karaage bento boxes, Karaage ramen and Spicy pork spare ribs ramen. Although located on the busy Kingsway strip, the wait isn’t always too long even at peak meal times. Quick fast meals if you’re pressed for time.
Sancha Noranho
It was my first ramen experience and it definitely did not disappoint. The food was flavorsome and portion sizes were great! Could not finish it all for sure
Bun's Food Diaries
We often come here for a quick tasty ramen. Portion sizes are decent so you don't leave feeling hungry. They do have lack of dessert items though, only a selection of sesame or green tea ice-cream. Food comes out at a acceptable pace, customer service otherwise is very average.
Savvy And Lifestyle
This is one of my favourite places to dine. If you want a quick, healthy meal with a great atmosphere go here. The wait staff are amazing. Dumplings are great however I can't forget their amazing Raman tastes amazing feels fresh. While your there don't forget to have their mango smoothie. Only downfall is the seats don't have backings so my back gets a bit sore when I go there. I've been over 10 times and not a complaint.
Leticia Ryan
Consistency is the word I'd use to describe Ajisen Ramen.

From the curries, to the rice dishes I've never had a bad meal off the menu. Me and my partner are absolutely obsessed with the Sizzling Chicken, and every time it tastes the exact same, it's consistently great every time.

Prices are reasonable, food is great, staff are efficient, always a pleasant experience.
Phillip Quach
If you're looking for a quick, satisfying ramen hit and don't feel like travelling, definitely give this place a try. I usually go the Samurai Combo (1x Ramen, 1x Entree & 1x Green tea). The Tom Yum Ramen never disappoints and is definitely my go to, with an entree of Ox Tongue. Now the Ox Tongue is definitely not a stand out but you can barely ever go wrong with Ox Tongue; request mayo and add soy sauce to the mayo as a dip for the Ox Tongue. I've tried majority of the Ramens here and definitely always recommend the Tom Yum ramen. Bit annoying how these places only give you one tissue as if it's enough when eating something soup based. To enjoy your ramen you've gotta slurp and if you think two tissues is enough to enjoy your ramen is enough, please think again. #dontbeatightarse

Been here a few times, always without doubt end up getting the Chicken Katsu Curry - winner winner chicken dinner!
Gyoza are pretty good too
Christine
I remember eating at Aijsen the first time a couple of years ago and incredibly enjoyed it. The chain has really lost its touch and quality. The only highlight is the consistency in the noodles over the years. It's edible food and is probably your quick fix meal place but definitely not a place to venture for good ramen.🍴🍴.5/5

I had Kimchi Ramen with chasyu ($12). The broth was not clean and light. It was rather on the saltier side and didn't taste natural. The chasyu was cold and unevenly cut. The soup was not hot, not spicy and did not have the kimchi taste. The dish should be named mild noodles and kimchi side.

Follow my instagram @forkyass for my reviews :)

Went in for dinner on a weekday, and the place was not too busy. We ordered the spicy beef ramen and the chargrilled beef ramen with a side of gyoza. Ramen was good and fulfilling, not the best I've tasted but it's a good value for money and the serving is generous. Service is prompt too.
Allen Curtis
As much as I love Japanese Cuisine this restaurant is a disappointment. The Ramen they have is not a real ramen. It is made up of broth cubes with noodles!!!
The cheesecake matcha it negative! Notjing good in total
Amber Lip
Ajisen Ramen overall serves good food however its not always the place I choose to eat at because the dishes are quite repetitive. However when I do go, its always a good time!!! The pork was really nice and it complemented all the other components in the ramen! But i do wish there was the other half of the egg (i love eggs)!
Willtravelforfood17
With the emergence of the ramen craze in Melbourne, Ajisen has been relegated to become the 'fast food' of ramens. The food is so-so but the service is pretty lacking. I ordered a teriyaki salmon bento which comes with gyozas. They delivered it to me without the gyozas. When I asked them about it they said they would deliver them to me later as they were not ready. I had finished my meal and they still had not delivered it to me despite me reminding the waitress 3 times.

Wasn't too sure trying this butter was very happy. Great value for what you get. Enjoyed everything and would return for more. Bento was the fave

I really do try my best to refrain from giving restaurants lowest-tier ratings even if I've had a negative experience with them, but the quality of food here is just so terrible that I feel an obligation to speak up. The tonkatsu I ordered was thin as a sheet and lukewarm. Refer to the pictures I've attached and you'll see that it's barely even as thick as a piece of boxing cardboard. It honestly just looks like they bought small sized chicken schnitzels from Coles and pounded it with a mallet to max out its surface area and give it the illusion of being a large cut of meat. Do you even see meat in the pictures??? Because I certainly didn't taste it. Even the chopstick is thicker in some parts than the so-called pork cutlet. They might as well have served me deep fried batter, because that's essentially what I received. Besides being incredibly thin, the serve is also small, and the pork is not breaded the authentic Japanese way. Instead, it had a texture not unlike what you would find in microwaveable schnitzel meals. The rice I ordered as a side was so dry that I had to ladle a few spoonfuls of broth from my friends' ramen onto it to be able to swallow. The salad that came with it was bitter, as if they didn't wash the vegetables properly, and they skimped on the dressing. This terrible meal set me back almost $11 and left me so hungry that I had to walk across the road to YOMG for seconds. I would've been happier to eat two-minute noodles at home than spend my hard-earned money on this outrageous case of daylight robbery. Disgusting that business think they can get away with serving customers food that they wouldn't even feed their pets and make money bags out of them. I am never coming back again.

LIT⭐️!: quick, affordable ramen place that delivers consistently enjoyable food. Haven't had a bad experience!

NOT SO LIT: though ramen and takoyaki are very average.

Thanks for having us!
David Chen
The soup of noodles taste good at first but does not last long when we have the middle of the noodles. The quality of the noodles is good. It's a chain store worldwide.
Ashley
Came in for dinner this evening sat outside for 15 minutes without even being served or give the menu. Surprisingly it wasn't even busy ! There were three waitresses on and two of them clearly saw me but looked away. I am very disappointed with this and will not be coming back ever!! Worst place on kingsway ever!!!
Christian Vieroz
Its pretty crowded at night, tho its dinner time anyway so most restaurant is either full or empty. This one is the queue type, but not too long. They got fast service, some quick cooking, and pretty clean too. The food was not too fancy, the average menu price is about $15 or $20 if you hungry. I go for the gyutan don and my friend go for combo ramen plus gyoza. It was so-so. If you had a thing for ramen, you probably want to try this at least once. Its not really too addictive, its more likely as a fulfilment of your hunger rather than a pleasure. 3/5.
Tahlia
Had the spicy pork ramen and it did not disappoint! The broth was perfectly seasoned and the pork was just spicy enough. Love the black fungus and the egg in the soup!
Ray
Good service, very clean restaurant. The food was tasty and good value for money. A bit more meat in the ramen would have been better but the actual portion size of the noodles and soup was very good.
Taeyeon's Hamster
Came here for lunch with a friend and it was relatively quiet for a Friday afternoon.

I had the chicken katsu rice lunch set which was served with seaweed salad, renkon chips and miso soup. My friend ordered a ramen served with their original kumamoto tonkotsu base.

Honestly, the food was quite average and wasn’t very satisfying but at a reasonable price. The staff were nice but lacked in customer service and are always chatting amongst themselves.
Brady Russell
Excellent. Service is always prompt, and the food is delicious and well priced. Staff aren't always overly friendly and you generally don't receive service after your meals have been served, but it's one of those places where you shouldn't expect that. Aside from that, a real fun place to eat.
Heidi
Stopped by ajisen ramen for a quick dinner before going to the cinema. We shared the pork gyoza, they were quite good. I had one of the bento boxes, whilst it was good the staff were very strict with no alterations which was a little annoying.
Cindy
A normal Japanese noodle shop, only noodles is fine. Other food is under average. Some choices can make have something extra add on your noodle. Service is normal.
Arvin Tabachoi
Went in for the soft shell crab ramen and vegetarian gyoza. Ramen was tad bit salty and gyoza was quite burnt.
Overall it was a decent meal that was very filling
Diep Dan
I am not a big fan of ramen, maybe thats why i feel like ramen is just acceptable. Service is good though. Other dishes are average too, i had better
Emily
I've only been here twice, but both times were amazing. My order for both visits was the Tonkatsu Ramen which is Ramen with deep fried crumbed pork, egg and vegetables. I cannot fault this meal. The broth is packed with flavour and the serving sizes are massive (not that I had an issue with finishing the whole thing, however I think the average person would have struggled). The pork schnitzel was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were fresh.
Highly recommend for quality Ramen.
SeeFood
I'm enjoying their food although this place is not an authentic Japanese restaurant. Their wait staffs are pretty attentive but that particular arrogant and slightly older lady with shoulder length hair on cashier, here is an advise - maybe you're the owner of this place but could you at least look at your paying customer in the eyes when your customer is actually thanking you instead of mumbling something and keep playing with your phone as if we're such annoyance to you
Chamaree Goonetilleke
Food was okay. Heard good things from this place from friends and my boyfriend and I wanted to try but was very disappointed because all the ramen was made from Pork and we do not eat pork. Probably won't visit again.
Anh Nguyen
Just basic food for when you want a quick bite or is craving a ramen but can't be bothered traveling for it. It wasn't amazing, but tasty enough to do the trick.

I love the eggplant here, but not so sure about the fried chicken coming out in balls instead of pieces of meat. And the bf thought the octopus in the takoyaki was too rubbery.
Ngu0377
I've been here multiple times in the past and it has been quite pleasant. However, this time I felt sick after having the Gyoza Ramen, which was very salty and overpowered everything else in the bowl. The gyoza itself seemed to be even saltier as well, which was not pleasant.

Overall, it was...
Cynthia Giang
I've been to multiple chains of Ajisen Ramen, and I can say without question this is the worst one I've been to. Ramen was cooked well, but the flavour tasted a bit funny like it was going off. After eating here, I became quite sick afterwards. I dare say that put me off from coming back.
Kristie Koo
Ajisen Ramen has loads of outlets where I'm from (Singapore) but I tend to have found their Ramen boring and forgettable compared to the other Japanese chains. I bought takeaway here that day and was pleasantly surprised. Service was cordial and quick, and the Grilled Pork Cheek Ramen was amazing. The soup was salty and flavourful without being too much, the pork was deliciously charred and decadent, it almost melted in my mouth, the noodles not too chewy (I tend to like them a little less springy and a little to the soft side). Much better than the Ajisen Ramens in Singapore! Will definitely be back.

Note: Photo is only a small portion and not the actual serving size.
Foodandwinefan
this is nothing like japanese food, there was so much salt on the edamame it bordered on inedible and the curry was dry and bland.
Indianchunky
My lunch Japanese of choice in this area. Usually a lunch box or chicken curry. Good food, quick service. The min 25$ for eftpos is not acceptable for a place that's supposed to be for lunch breaks.
Sia
The food was really good! I remember I came here a couple of years ago, and had the Tori Karaage ramen. For a first time to eat ramen I would really recommend it, the food has the best flavour to quantity ratio and is overall really fulfilling. The only con is that the portions are very big so you if you are having this for lunch or dinner, don't eat something prior to coming here. I assure you it would be worth it!
Zamal
walked past here thinking it was nothing special, but decided to get dinner. ended up spending ~70 between two, and very satisfied.
favourites:
- best agedashi tofu i have had
- best gyoza i have had out (most similar to how we make it at home, which is the true best), good ratios, good subtle ginger taste
- good miso soup
- i even enjoyed nasu dengaku which includes two things i usually avoid: eggplant / miso paste
surprised by this place
Ramieleatsshootsandleaves
Haven't revisted this chain since 2007! I guess there's been a couple of changes in those years.
The barbecued pork slices were fragrant, and kudos for the waitress asking how soft I'd like my noodles - I didn't exactly know how soft was too soft, so I didn't ask for changes - it was aldente, tad chewy.
Melissa Tang
The ramen and the gyozas were too damn salty. And after we paid, we were rushed out as we were still finishing up, even though the place was empty.
KevinTheHungryFoodie
Ajisen ramen here just tastes like any other franchise Ajisen ramen. As for the ramen there isn't anything special or surprising about this place. You pay for what you get. The staff especially the waiting staff weren't really attentive and the service could've been much better.

I would only come back here only if I had no other ramen places that I could go to.
Liam Fergeus
It's a shame to have to rate here so low because my food was decent enough. I had the tofu ramen and it was what I was expecting. Although it was listed as vegetarian and then I was told the broth is made with pork, that irritated me. My friend ordered a big plate of noodles which was lacking a bit of flavour. But the service was terrible. They were kind but my friend had to ask for water four times before someone bought it over. I was bought the wrong drink because of a very simple mistake due to a language barrier that shouldn't have occurred. The waitress just rushed the order. Really disappointed.
W
Refused to fully cook the egg for a pregnant lady. That really says it all about this place. Truly disappointed, and will not come back next time.
Jason
Been here earlier last week. Glen waverley was not so busy at about 6pm so lesser chance of rushed food. The pricing and quantity offered is quite standard but a little on the higher side. I have been here quite a few times now but has made a very slight improvement in quality I.e not bringing out very average food. Their entree with the samurai meals are a good bonus but not a huge saving above purchasing them individually. They really need to offer a bit more choices with their included beverage. I'd like to say their Paiku Ramen is good but really too much fat on their meat. None of the entree is worth recommending as they are also very average. My 2 cents is there is other Japanese places in the glen. Try them if you can tolerate their longer queues.
FOOD TRIP
Ajisen is a casual Japanese eatery with an abundance of menu options to suit just about everyone. The service is fast and the food is decent. Good place to choose for a quick meal. Deep fried soft shell crab $7. Not impressed. The whole crab could easily fit on the palm of my hand. Tastes just fine, just very very small. 4/10
Gracie
Average ramen. The braised pork was rather salty and hand made noodles were tough and have a weird texture. I rather have instant ramen tbh. Overall a so so place most likely wont come back
Kira Dinh
The first thing I have to say is that the 'grilled salmon bento box' was absolutely amazing!! 👌🏻
The bento box has the perfect combo of meat, salmon, veggie and rice! I normally hate tomato but luckily they put a nice sauce all over the tomato in the bento box that I couldn't taste it at all. I went there hungry with a few of my friends to catchup over time and we all left there feeling satisfied and full. At first, I didn't think much of it because I'm not the biggest fan of ramen, however them offering plenty of other dishes cancelled out the negatives. I chose the salmon bento box because it was chef's number 1 suggestion for the bentos! I am so happy I choose that selection!
Definitely recommend this for ramen and Japanese lovers!
I would go again just for that salmon bento box 😊😊😊
Hunger Pains
I've eaten here quite a few times and I must say the service has been really poor every time, you'll find yourself having to get the attention of the waitresses ALL the time, to be seated, to take your order, to order drinks, even to pay the bill, however the food is really nice. Great variety and well priced. Just a shame about the service.
Systemico
All our guests had a great time here. We had 2 Ramens and 2 Bento boxes for mains. We also had the Nasa Dengaku (deep fried eggplant) which was fantastic. Photos attached.

The best tofu ramen!! The noodles always fresh!! There are a lot of options in the menu, we've tried some of the side dishes, they were good but not as good as the ramen. So stick to their specialty is my recommendation!

I had dinner at Ajisen Ramen tonight. I have very fond memories of Ajisen. The first time I had ramen was at Ajisen in Glen Waverley in 2011. I loved it so much and when I was a Uni student I often visited Ajisen. Since then I've eaten ramen at different restaurants so... How does Ajisen Ramen compare all these years later?

What I always love about Ajisen is that they have a whole range of dishes - unlike some ramen places if you don't like ramen you can still find something else you might like.

We ordered some deep fried gyoza since we have never tried them deep fried before! They were very tasty!

I ordered the Spicy Pork Ramen while my boyfriend ordered the Spicy Beef Ramen. It really wasn't that spicy at all. It could have been spicier I reckon.

The biggest disappointment for me was the fact that there were no eggs in our ramen :( my boyfriend was happy cause he doesn't like eggs but for me the best part of ramen is the egg. Besides from this the ramen was delicious.

Great ramen. The volcano ramen is the best thing ever. And love their macha green tea drinks and ice cream. Entrees are delicious never enough.

Ajisen Ramen is one of my favorite restaurant to visit in Glen Waverley. They always get their food out quite fast and their service are okay to moderate. My favorite dishes are the Gyutan don, Toroniku, and other bentos. The gyutan don are spicy and chewy as they're supposed to be, it's simply excellent. Their bentos are the best for when you are feeling more hungry than usual since it comes with a side of salad, gyozas, and crispy chicken skewers. For some reason, despite the name I don't really like their Ramen as much. However, the previously mentioned food are certainly incredible. I would definitely go back as much as I can.

Took a set ramen and rice combination set. Very disappointed with the rice set, this was what resulted. Could explain why I could get a seat when all restaurants were fully booked.

Cheapish Japanese food. Quality is so so, the Ramen is the highlight. I appreciate that you can order a mild Ramen as I don't handle spice well at all!

Quick stop in the Glen for some ramen and to be very honest it wasn't very satisfying. The staff are quite hasty but very nice. The wait wasn't too long for such a busy restaurant at night time. I had the volcano ramen, quite spicy for those who like spice, the ramen noodles had the great hard-ish texture to it, egg was soy-flavoured yum, however the broth was a bit of a let down - not creamy enough and way too salty that I had to ask for an extra bowl of water and (something white, not sure) which watered the broth down a little to make it sip-able.
The Whippeteers
Never a queue at "Ajisen Ramen", whereas "Waya" just a little further down the strip always has a line of eager diners out front. Why? The Whippeteers went down to "Ajisen Ramen" last Saturday night to find out!

2x Whippeteers ordered:

- Curry Don: bland, couldn't taste anything really (not even chili).
-Bento box: overall only average, the chicken skewer was quite nice, the beef a bit lame. The dumpling was nice though. Salad was good.
-Enjoyed the Asahi beer.

It's tempting to come here when you're hungry because it's so much easier to get a seat. But Waya is the {groan} 'waya' you should go! We certainly will.

Ps this Whip enjoyed watching the TV screen at the restaurant. There was an epic volleyball game between China and Japan that night. Kinda like the 'battle' for customers along Kingsway!

Pps we've included photos of our guests meals also. They had no complaints, but they've never been to Waya.

Nice and reasonably priced food, reasonably good service. Portions are generous, food came within 10mins. Whilst it was nothing to rave about, it's what you would expect for what you pay. I particularly like the Ramen and Chahan (fried rice) here, the bentos are a bit dry as there's no sauce to eat rice with. Drinks are a bit pricey and nothing special. I was impressed that the waitress saw that I was the only one on my table that hadn't gotten my food, and she came and asked me what I ordered so she could chase it up for me. This is something I rarely see as I often have to bring it up to staff that my food was missing (although in today's case I actually wasn't missing my food since I was sharing with a friend - but I was impressed that she asked!). Overall it was a nice dining experience and we would probably return some time soon!

Really nice Japanese food at an excellent price. I've been here about 4 times now and enjoy the food here as do my friends. The place is always buzzing with people and I can see why also.

Been here awhile ago , I remember tried their franchise in cbd 8 years ago . Food was alright , but I remember our ramen was a little bit over cooked . Fried chicken was good .

I'm a big fan of Ramen and with a menu stacked full of different ramen flavours I was hungry and ready to go! I got the most popular pork ramen and it was very nice! Great flavours and beautiful cooked pork. Unfortunately my partners egg was a little over done but as a whole dish, it was great! Loved it. Clean place, fast service. Yum!!

Very clean and high quality compared to a lot of other noodle restaurants in Glen Waverley, Ajisen serves a great variety of ramen, with some interesting variations on your traditional ramen available. My personal favourite is the Tonkatsu Ramen, though with the wide variety available, there is sure to be something to suit both traditional eastern and western palates. The signature Ajisen Ramen has a really nice broth.
Staff service is generally good, though has varied from time to time - they've never been rude, but there have been times where I've found them inattentive.
Overall, I wouldn't say it was excellent value for money, but I was quite happy with what I got for what I paid, and would definitely visit again.

Quick service. Not much for a going out for dinner place but good if you're after a quick meal. The ramen is consistently good so you are always guaranteed a decent meal.

This place is good for a quick bit to eat, extremely quick service and the food was very tasty. They also have a few more unusual items on the menu like ox tongue and pork cheeks, etc...
