Review Kebab Thyme - Glen Waverley

Keyur Dandekar
The original chicken kebab was brilliant! The French fries are crispy and the salt is well balanced. We also tried the mixed grill and this dish is something that I will not opt for again. If the dips are the highlight of a meat dish, you know where the problem is. Of all the meats, only the lamb shish was properly cooked. All the time there were either raw from the inside our overcooked to the point that they had become chewy.

Driven past this place 100 times and finally stopped in to grab a Kebab for a quick bite to eat on a Friday night. Amazing Kebabs, great chips. The staff here are also really good too. The prices are very reasonable. I love building my own Kebab's.
George
Literally the best kebab shop in Melbourne and I've tried basically all of them. They actually use good quality bread for the kebabs and the chilli sauce is legit
Jeremy Vasic
Really solid HSP compared to a normal kebab shop, plus the quality has been great for years

Great flavour! Good food! The service can be a bit of a wait, but it is worth it. The staff are lovely there and they sell good food for cheap. Winner!

This place used to be really good, my kids often asked me to come here because of the crunchy golden chips. No more of that, chips was either under cooked or cooked too quick at high temperature it become light brown and soggy, (I was there twice in the past 2 months and out of the shop in about 5 minutes, speedy order fulfillment... yes, not so good for the chips) The staffs (I can see new faces in the past 3 months) are not friendly. I know the owner is in another store, but if he let his staff run the place like this, it would have impact on his business name. Hope this is taken as constructive feed back, more than happy to change to 5 stars if they can bring back the crunchy chips and the friendly service.

Chilled outdoor with that was filled with nice indoor plants and planted Palms. Really good food that will have to overeating but enjoy every mouthful like it was the first. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

Fantastic kebabs, meats, HSP, and packs. Really tasty chips, too. Great, fast and friendly service.

The best #HSP I've had in Melbourne!!! I would happily recommend Kebab Thyme to anyone because the food is great and the staff are amazing!!!
Joel Caruso
Best HSPs and kebabs in Melbourne, complimented by their great customer service. Highly recommend.
Dominique Clae Ang
Staff are very friendly. The chips is amazing! Aswell as the meat! Definitely recommended HSP shop!

The best HSP in the South East. We have tried the competition but nothing comes close to KT. The bonus is the reward card for being a loyal Customer.

I would give Kebab Thyme 10 stars if I could. Delicious kebabs! Must try authentic fresh flavoursome Turkish food from the rest of the menu. Gozleme, stuffed wine leaves and dips made to perfection. Even the bread baked at the premises. Excellent fresh food, passionate owners! If you haven't tried it yet, you are missing out.

Confirmed the delivery order twice and when we started eating our food the order was still wrong

Came here on a couple of occasions, food was amazing everytime. The little chubby lady at the front is the best. Very polite and always is nice. Service is great.

Hands down the best Halal Snack Pack in town.

The Perfect ratio of juicy mixed meat and chips, sprinkled with a light layer of cheese and finished with the balanced flavours of the holy trinity (BBQ + Garlic + Chilli Sauce). In every bite you get the perfect amount of all the layers, which are all cooked to perfection. You can’t overuse the word “perfect” when describing their HSPs.

A must visit for your HSP cravings!

Decided to come here for dinner. Staff is extremely friendly, food is really good too. The meat was a bit dry today but it's not a constant thing as I come here often. Overall pretty good kebabs and worth trying.

Delivery came earlier than estimated time. Food was tasty and still warm. They forgot one of my kebabs but redelivered it in timely manner and threw in a free dessert so I cant complain. Will def be back.

Nice staff, really friendly. The bad thing is that they put oil into the hsp box, idk why but they do it, it makes it kinda disgusting to eat, at the start it is nice tasting but when the oil gets mixed it tastes bad. Nd hope they start using gloves when making the food
KLLYXNG
$10 for a small mixed HSP, super delicious and juicy cuts of meat. Average pricing but servings felt a little bit more than what I’ve had previously. Personally I prefer shoe string fries over chips but it satisfied my cravings for sure!

Been a long time customer to Kebab Thyme. Always solid option for a HSP or Kebab, but recently i think the standard of quality is slipping. Too many Uber Eats/Menu Log orders. Longer wait times and food not as good as it used to be.
Still decent option if you are in the area and after a late night kebab.

Where do i begin?!!! Don't order on uber eats. Took 45 mins to deliver when the estimate was 20mins, and then they give us cold kebabs with cold soggy chips. AND they left half our order at the place.

We called up and the lady said she forgot and would re-deliver. When she arrived (1 hour after ordering) She gave us the SAME hsp made an hour ago all cold and condensation filled in the plastic bag?? She said she couldn't make a new one as she was brand new there. We were polite just frustrated as we knew it wasn't her fault, then she told us it was the uber drivers fault because he was wearing headphones....but we had a lady deliver the order originally and she didn't have headphones and the kebab thyme girl said on the phone she forgot to include the hsp to the driver, so now the story has changed, we have cold food, half missing order, then the food finally delivered but not fresh instead one that's just been sitting there for an hour?? All kinds of wrong. Shame on management for making the young new girl deal with it all though. Poor service all round. Their claim of being busy we understand, but you have the option on uber eats to decline orders if you can't handle the traffic...why not do that? Because of this they have lost business our entire household. Not impressed.

EDIT: posted this review to their Facebook and received nothing but them placing an entire blame on uber. Their responses were unprofessional and embarrassing as they chose to retaliate rather than accept criticism. They have now as a result chosen to block the review section from their Facebook, proving more and more how the level of professionalism is at an all time low. If you cannot handle, or run a business...then don't.

(Also uber drivers beware, they have nothing but a churning hate for you all apparently...yet still can't provide me with a valid answer for why they would send 1 hour old, cold, soggy hsp to someone. Would you pay money for that? Didn't think so 🤔😂).

Convenient location. Enough parking. Friendly and quick service. Reasonable rates. Tasty (but not amazingly delicious) kebabs. Our occasional eat out spot.

Off the beaten track is Kebab Thyme for your quick late night snack steering away from Glen Waverley central. HSP (small) is a good portion, meat wasn't as juicy as I'd hoped though (meat was cut into small pieces). Ask for chilli flakes if you want an extra kick in combination to the holy trinity but don't over do it!
The baklava was decent but I'll refrain from judging it as I ate it next day.
Ohmyfoodie
A great place to eat. Very friendly staff and absolutely top notch quality meat, dips and bread. Everything is fresh and homemade (including the bread which is handrolled and cooked!) Absolutely great for HSP's and everything else.

Been here a few times. Its not fantastic but it certainly is worth it. The only dish I eat is the Hala snack pack and each time I been there have been on a late night. The texture of the chicken & the lamb is pretty good. At times the lamb can taste rubber like.

For kebebs in the South eastern I would definitely recommend this joint instead of having to travel further out.
Cassidy & Sneakers
Sneakers – Kebab Thyme is awesome. They’re open till quite late at night, serving up awesome snack packs, with delicious crispy chips and tasty garlic sauce – you can’t go wrong. They even have a loyalty card with your 10th snack pack is free (and it’s also a large snack pack). I’m yet to actually try a kebab but I’m sure they will be delicious. The service is also punctual and super friendly.

Cassidy – agree with everything above, will just add in that we ordered some pita bread on the side and it’s really nice – soft and warm; that with some garlic sauce and the lamb is delicious.

Cleanliness of the restaurant - 8/10

Cleanliness of plates/cutlery/glasses – n/a

Cleanliness of the menus – n/a

Service – 9/10

Wait time for food - short

Food overall – 8.5/10

Ambience - 6/10

Value for money - 9/10

As I've tried Glenny Kebabs and Queens Kebabs I wanted to give their competition a go in the area of HSPs. This shop is very small but has a couple of tables for eat in, luckily it wasn't busy. I wouldn't want to be in there at peak time. They had clear HSP signage and a legible menu board. The counter service was ok, nothing spectacular but he took our order down right. The service is very much no fuss, get in and let the food do the work. Our food took 10 minutes to be ready. There is also some seating which is a bonus. I got the regular mixed HSP with BBQ sauce, garlic sauce, chilli flakes and cheese for $10. My dining partner got a felafel pack with cheese and garlic sauce.

They were spectacular. What I'd call my real first 'balanced' 'all round' snack pack. It wasn't filled too much as to become dry, thus every bite had a sampling of meats, cheese and a generous lathering of sauces. I really liked the sauce application on it, as I found there was enough to go around. The meats were flavoursome and tender (always more lamb than chicken-I prefer lamb anyways and chicken in truth'd be more expensive) and the cheese was the best I've had. Gooey and stringy and applied generously all over (not overdone either) The chips were good, not crazy great but they retained crunchiness. They were well salted and cooked well (I'd prefer mine cooked a little more).

I believe this place deserves more credit and hype than Glenny Kebabs and I would recommend giving them a go.
N&S Food Adventures
Good quality HSP here! They are very generous with their sauce and meat portions however needs more chips! The workers and owners are so nice and welcoming which makes coming here a very good experience!! The outside seating is relaxing and very well decorated! Parking is an issue during peak hour :(
Mandy
Good saucy hsp. However needs more chips as there were barely any and sometimes the lamb is noticably not fresh and a bit stale. Could do with some improvement but worth the money.
Facebook User
friendly staff and very nice hsp!
meat was succulent, generous servings of chips and also sauce

Out of all the HSP places I've been this is probably the best tasting one. Love what they put in it, must be crack? Service is also quality, very friendly most of the time. It's tiny and there aren't enough chairs/tables though, and the opening/closing times are so confusing. Other than that, it's probably one of the best HSP's in Melbourne
Ellie Vesel
Tiny, chewy and fatty portions of meat. Half a pita, strange tasting dip and onion laden salad. All this for $22 and over half an hour wait! If you want kebab, pick another place... any other pace will be better!!

I'm Vego n never seen so many options for me in kebabs specially all different flavours. The staff was very friendly n gr8 service. My husband is very particular abt his kebab he can drive 10k for a kebab but this is not even 2k away from our home. Savings :)

Came here due to the massive amount of customers for a Thursday night. I got the chicken kebab. My friends got a couple of the others. The kebab was awful, chips were soggy and tasted old. My friends said the same thing about their meals. Terrible place. Will never go back!
James Abd
Went there with a few friends for the first time we all got a HSP and the serving sizes are awesome and meat was delicious, chips were crispy, what more could you want.
Glen McConchie
Came here based on the good reviews but was sadly disappointed. I paid $15 for a lamb shish platter. Normally for less than this price in Abra Kebabra at Dandenong I get a huge plate of meat, salad and bread which leaves me completely stuffed. But here the serving was tiny!! They were very slow too. The guy looked like he was in slow motion.

The place in the food court at the Glen has better food and better prices.

A small portion of pita bread, meat and salad. I asked for tsatsiki and eggplant dip but only got the tsatsiki.

The quality of food was OK but I have had a lot better and have never paid this much or got this little.

The place is pretty dingy and on a cold winters night they left the door wide open so that it was freezing for everyone ordering or eating.

One stop shop for you HSP. perfect amount of meat/chips/cheese and sauces. Definitely worth a try if you haven't been. Rookie tip, starts off with a small and then work your way upto a large.

If you're looking for a good quality HSP with really friendly staff and a lovely relaxing court yard type place to sit in then this is your place!!

**EDIT the courtyard area is no longer open and IMO Glenny Kebabs makes a slightly superior HSP but that doesn't mean kebab thyme doesn't make a good hsp :)
Yeonginaa
Went to tried the hsp nearby my place , greeted by friendly staff . We had ordered 2 large size : 1 for lamb , other is mixed ( lamb& chicken ) with cheese . I have tried few hsp places , didn't really expect this to be so GOOD ! Therefore, we finished the 2 large hsp within 10 min and decided to order another small hsp to share . Oh , they even have a backyard behind the restro . Definitely coming back again !
Chips&Sauce
Haven't had a good Kebab for yonks. After a series of bad kebabs I jumped back on the kebab train. Happy that I came for some takeaway. Great lamb kebab and cooked with a bit of a crisp to it. Keen to eat in next time.
Ray
Had a HSP from here after good reviews on Facebook. The meat was delicious and the lamb was especially, there was the right amount of spice and plenty of sauce.
The chips were however the let down as they weren't crispy enough and the sauce on top made them even worse.

Second Visit:
Great service, chips were crispy and meat was tasty.

Another very satisfied meal with Kebab Thyme, this is my 4th trip to the place, eat-in and takeaway. I tried the Mixed Shish twice and loved it, the eggplant and spicy Antep dips are to die for, delicious. The Rice of the day, yum... wish I can make that. I have also tried The Viking and spinach Gozleme, yum, I wish I can eat these every day.

Today, I ordered takeaway and have the Bodrum - kebabs with tomato, lettuce, red onion, fries (yes Fries!) & Garlic Sauce (picture attached), it is so juicy and flavoursome; definitely going back there again.

We came across this little Kebab and Turkish food place by accident. Previously an average fish and chip shop, the new owners have turned this take away venue into a super tasty Turkish delight! :-). It's a family run business and all the food served is authentic, home made, delicious and bursting with flavour. Even the flat breads are freshly made and you can choose from traditional doner meat or fresh grilled shish meats and team them with their homemade dips. I have enjoyed both chicken and lamb shish wrapped in their flatbreads with salad, and let me tell you, they are yummy! If you want quality homemade authentic Turkish kebabs, then this is the place to go. You can also get a lovely selection of homemade sweets, all baked fresh by the owners. I am so excited that Glen Waverley finally has a great Turkish take away! Seating is available if you want to eat in. And don't forget to try some of their homemade dips with gozleme!

***I wrote this review while waiting for my Hubby to bring some take away home for us. OMG, the Nutella gozleme is amazing! It was devoured in seconds, leaving both kids and adults wanting more!!!
