Review Mountain View Hotel - Glen Waverley

Benedict Hoo
Great food! Nice place to hang out with friends over beer! The restaurant is not noisy so it was ideal for catching up and chatting with friends. The food was reasonably priced and I'd say pretty good value for money. The beer was super cheap! A jug of 50 lashes for $12! The crowd seemed to be older (over 60s), but it was still a great experience!

Came without a booking, was no problem to get a table for 5 early on a Saturday night, must have just got in because the bistro was full to the brim when we left. Meals came out quickly and everyone liked what they ate.
Geoff Grante
Good food and great service, but had run out of a choice of sweets by the time we had finished our main meal.

We came here for a birthday party in the designated room. A lovely staff member, Antoinette, was so lovely and professional. What an absolute asset to this establishment. A great night and a lovely experience, thank you!

Food was pretty good, service was pretty good too. Would recommend for an easy but decent local pub meal.

Service and food was excellent. Chef cooks such tasty food. 11/10 -thankyou! Waitresses were very busy but still super friendly and aiming to please patrons. We will definitely be returning and would recommend Mountain View as a top dining experience.

Large dinning and gaming facilities available. Property is professionally laid out and in good condition. Lots of parking. A Covid supervisor at the entrance is proactive to maintain Covid standards and is a very reassuring feature. Gaming facilities are extensive. Dining area is clean and spacious with bright and attentive staff. Meals are ordered with remote access or waitress staff in attendance. The meal's were at a just satisfactory standard but poorly presented. Some of the vegetables served were still partially frozen. Compared to other similar facilities the meals for seniors was double the price and not worth the extra cost. Overall a sound facility with good Covid controls but disappointing catering standards.

My meal was pork belly, not really cooked and the crackling was rubbery, sent it back and then had the same meal delivered only to gave the top now burnt. Not a good place to eat at all.

Not very family friendly, felt very out of place as we were the only ones there under the age of 60. Food was terrible, steak ordered med/rare was well done, garlic butter was flavourless, hamburger was bland, all meals were missing seasoning, bar man looked lost when I ordered a glass of wine, had to guide him to the bottle, and had to ask 3 times for water. Won't be going back.

Service was good. Staff were friendly but to drive the distance we did and to get meals that were entree sizes for the price of a main meal was disappointing. I had the rice with creamy prawns then had cheesecake with ice cream and a coffee. Coffee turned up way after I had finished my dessert. Don't think I will go back there for a meal

I went there with James and Marc this afternoon and we shared some Garlic Bread, Chips and Tomato Sauce and a Seniors Chicken Parmigiana. The staff were kind to us because they gave us extra chips instead of the salad that came with the Chicken Parmigiana and the service was excellent.

The roast chicken to salty the vegatables were just stacked on top of each other you couldnt eat it the good thing about the hotel was the service , the kitchen staff shoud be sacked for serving up a bad meal like this

Went there for dinner last night for family catch-up, in total there was about 30 of us, while the service was very good, the staff were very helpful and pleasant, the food on the other hand was really disappointing. I had the chicken biryani as the main which came in a small entre size bowl with a small side salad in same size bowl it was pretty tasteless, this costed $24, my husband had the fish and chips, small basket of chips with four small pieces of fish also disappointing.. This was my first visit here and I doubt that I will be returning.

Meal was very average . Steak at the burvale heaps better and cheaper . Fish was worst my husband had eaten and he has eaten a lot of fish - very dry and tasteless

We love going to have a meal there. Been doing it for 37 yrs & never had a bad meal. And the service is first class.

Shame I couldn't give less than one star. The food is horrid, the star are rude and to a further extent hey don't even have one token vegetarian option on the menu. Go to McDonalds over the road for a better menu

Came here to watch the UFC today as advertised on your website to be told you don’t have the rights to the main event even though you had posters inside. I have been about 4 times to watch the UFC as it’s my local but not anymore. Disappointed

Nice meal but I still had to pay full price even though I missed out on the soup. Liqeur coffee was ok though.

Called in with some friends for lunch. They had a Christmas in July, so two of us opted for it. The cream of mushroom soup was ok, not as rich as it often is, but the mail meal was amazing. It came with ham, turkey and pork, lots of vegies, cooked well, smothered in gravy. It was finished off by a plum pudding with custard (really nice) and cream. The one friend who didn't want to "do Christmas in July" had roasted pumpkin ravioli which she said was delicious and a lemon meringue pie for dessert.
The coffee afterwards was great, and the soft drinks and juices were large.
The best part was the service. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive.
We will be going back, this time to try things from the regular menu!

First time visit for trivia night and it was fun. Good crowd and a good host although it was sometimes difficult to hear him as he spoke too softly or didn’t speak clearly enough at times but all in all, a great night. Standard pub food and staff were very nice and attentive. The wedges were crispy and tastier than the chips. The carrot cake was a bit dry. The chicken schnitzel was tender and nicely crumbed. The lamp chops were not bad but a bit fatty and thin. The porterhouse and warm sticky date dessert were the overall favourites.

Centrally located on a busy intersection in the hub of Glen Waverley. This place has been here for many years and changed quite a bit over the years. I do enjoy this place a bit better now, my go to meal is the Thai Calamari sald which is refreshing and not to heavy on the stomach, this place gets packed on a sunday arvo. Overall it's ok.

It was a pub meal in a nice clean hotel. Decor wise - everything was fine - not shabby and no signs of wear. But the meal was nothing particularly special. I had a chicken Kiev. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Visited here and all i can say is its rubbish. Poorly cooked food and over priced. Get a new chef, as the current one is letting the place down. Try wheelers hill hotel, much better

Came here last Saturday and got the fish and chips. Good food for a pub, can't fault it. Of course it was nothing spectacular, but after all, it's pub food.

A sub-standard overpriced lunch. I attended a lunch at the Mountain View Hotel Function Room in Glen Waverley, Springvale Road, Melbourne. There is no way I can recommend the food due to its embarrassingly poor quality.

The soup was lukewarm. The Main Course of roast lamb, beef and vegetables was cold, dry, and tasteless. The two jugs of gravy provided for the meats were also cold and rather insipid. The apple crumble dessert was smothered with dehydrated coconut flakes and extremely dry. The cream which accompanied the crumble was not even real cream!

All I got for the exorbitant amount paid was a bad lunch and an underwhelming experience.

Got the chicken parma as well.. Pretty average. Kinda overcooked and the ham was thin n not very tasty. The napoli sauce tasted more like Mexican salsa sauce lol but I kinda liked that.. The chips were pretty tasty but that's about it. Wouldn't recommend it. And for $22 it's way too much. The other food didn't look that great too considering everything is like mid to high $20s or $30s. Prob wouldn't ever come back here by choice

UPDATED from 2 stars

Everyone has heard of the "Mountain Spew" but, this hotel is a far cry from those days 15, 20,25 years ago. Did I just show my age?

The waitress named Antoinette was very friendly right from the moment she greeted us. She was smiling and looked happy to look after us. She was very pleasant, personable and professional. If only all waiters/waitresses are like her!!

The food was good too. I ordered the pork cutlet and it was cooked very well. It was tender and not over cooked. The coconut sauce had a subtle flavour and not too strong.

We also got be Beef and Reef medium rare which was unfortunately more medium than rare but still pleasant eating.
