Review The Arena Cafe - Glen Waverley

Dirty chai was pretty strong caffeine hit, which was very needed during a long shopping trip. Good location for a sit down and enjoying a dessert and coffee. Cheesecake was delicious, pretty much what you'd expect. The macadamia nuts were an excellent addition. Nothing to complain here, would come back again.

Always a busy place on the weekends with friendly staff and nice seating area outside, especially by the railing overlooking Woolies. Food is surprisingly good too. Favorites include Benedict, Butter Milk Pancakes and the Arena Risotto (yum!)

Not the first time here. Food is always quite good here. This time round we had Veggie Big Brekkie $25 and Bruschetta $18, very tasty, good portion and adequate presentation. Price is medium for a cafe. One not so good thing, coffee came when we 3 quarter into our meal.

This place is pretty bad. Definitely won’t come again. They got me to pay for the food and then closed the kitchen - made it seem like it was my fault for paying for the food. Also it says it closes at 5:30 online but actually closes at 5. Horrible place. Please save your money and your taste buds. Don’t come here - I’ve never felt so regretful about going to a cafe.

I came here on the weekend, the service was ok, you order at the bar and they give you a number, I got matcha latte for 6.50$ which was quite good and a wild mushroom risotto for 26$ which I think was quite dry and not very tasty for the price.

Always great food, great service AND great prices!! Had the calamari today. Was cooked to perfection. Melted in my mouth. Finished with a strong cap. Frothy, hot and delishious... Love coming here...

Friendly staff. I had roast chicken burger. It was delicious but a bit exxy as it didn't come with chips or other sides. Hot chocolate wasn't good. Can taste it's cheap chocolate powder.

Had good experiences until one of your male floor staff told us share a table, when the staff at the counter specifically seated us at our own table. We told him we were seated at our own table, and his response is "ok see ya later", basically kicking us out. No apology or decency at all. Train your staff member to have some manners and you won't lose returning customers. Never had a waiter be so rude until we came back here. Horrible experience.

After our lunch at Shujinko, my friends and I walked around for a little bit to walk off the food and decided to sit down for a drink. My friends apparently enjoy going to The Arena Cafe because its very spacious and pram friendly.

🔆LOCATION🔆

The Arena Cafe is situated on the ground floor opposite to David Jones. The decor and interior seems very dated, it would definitely do with an uplift. There is a large mural picture inside the cafe which reminds me of the Greek Islands.

There is soo much seating available inside the cafe, it would be a good place for large group gatherings. We decided to sit outside as it is more bright with natural lighting. I did find the inside is a little dark.

There is a decent size counter full of delicious looking cakes, however as we were quite full we only ordered drinks.

🔆SERVICE🔆

The lady that served us was very friendly and quickly cleared a table for us outside.
Our drinks were made very promptly.

🔆MENU/PRICE🔆

Flat White, $4.00
Latte, $4.00
Ice Matcha, $6.50

🔆VERDICT🔆

My friends often visit The Arena Cafe when they're at The Glen because it's spacious and apparently make decent coffee and hence took me here for a drink.

I am only reviewing my drink which is the Ice Matcha. Unfortunately it was disappointing. There was matcha powder in the drink however it wasn't dissolved properly and I could taste powedry substance even after I have fully mixed the milk together. There was way too much milk. It just tasted like milk with light flavours of green tea. I had no idea there would be a scoop of vanilla ice cream, that just made the drink worse. The ice cream was topped with dusting of matcha powder. Mixing the vanilla ice cream and milk together was just like having a vanilla milk shake.

I’ve been visiting arena quite frequently and every time i come here, the food quality is very consistent. Love their pulled pork benedict and the flavor just combined so well! Staff are really friendly as well. Highly recommended, definitely my fav cafe at glen! :)

A spacious cafe at The Glen that serves up great coffee and yummy treats. It's easy to find and has ample seating which is very comfortable. I love the open plan feel, and the bistro tables and chairs add a real cosy, European look, as does the huge mural on the wall.

Despite the fact that there is a really good menu here, I can't resist a tempting cake from the generous display cabinet. This carrot cake was fresh and tasty and went perfectly with the delicious coffee.

Service is also fantastic and the staff are really lovely and welcoming; making it a pleasure to visit the Arena cafe when in the area.

Another dining companion picked the 'Ham, Cheese and Tomato Sandwich, served with salad of the day ($10.00)'. This was a yummy sandwich and I will probably order this the next time I dine here.
