Review Zest Cafe Gallery - Glenelg

Tas Gray
Coming from Melbourne where we are surrounded by top quality cafes it can be difficult to find an interstate cafe that meets our high expectations. Zest is the closest thing you'll find in Glenelg. Whilst the menu isn't quite as fancy as what you'll find in Melbourne, the quality of their food and coffee is very good. The staff are incredibly friendly and understand what hospitality is all about. For an enjoyable breakfast and good quality coffee in Glenelg you can't go past this place.

Came here with family and was able to bring our three dogs along for breakfast too! Amazing friendly staff and service. Food and drinks were 10/10. I got the "Hell's eggs" (pictured below) and it was delicious! Nice amount of spicy and the ramekin kept it hot. I find a lot of cafés either have so little that you're left hungry, or so much that there's a lot of waste leftover after you're full. However all dishes were perfectly portioned and all delicious! Would love to come back and taste every dish available!

Casual cafe with all day breakfast and friendly staff. Had the Vegan Hottie and asked their recommendation for a fresh juice. Good options to build your own breakfast with eggs, bacon etc etc. Sat outside under the shaded area.
Barry Oldham
Good coffee, nice eggs mushrooms 3 very small, & tomato relish all okay, worth at least $17.00 maybe, not what I paid, sadly the avo had brown spot all through it, okay for somethings just not this have pics will post. Server replaced avo & apologised, however should never have been served as it was decomposing, put me off the meal. Good service although the young man seemed a tad frustrated. This is my professional opinion regarding my dining experience in this cafe.

Great strong coffee. Great service. Reasonable prices. What more can you ask for?! Highly recommend this café.

We ordered hell’s egg + salmon beagle and both were very good Flat white was also one of the best I’ve tried A bit cold and windy outside but there are blankets for you to use Excellent customer service too!
James Meyer
The food there was absolutely delicious. I got the big breakfast and the french toast. The food always amazing and you get a lot too. The food was a bit pricy but it was worth it. The hot drinks were also only warm not hot, but they still tasted really good. The quality of the products was also worth the money. The presentation also made the food look even better! I highly recommend going there.

Just bought takeaway coffees. If this was my first coffee ever, for the life of me I would never drink another. It was very bad. So was hubby’s. Zest were making great coffees in the past. Not anymore. Never will we buy their coffees ever again. Not happy -long term customer here!

Unfortunately the bacon and egg muffin was very small and definitely didn't justified the $9 price. The $12 bacon and eggs was a reasonable portion, but it was bland and the bacon was watery and undercooked. Add to that slow service, and it all felt underwhelming :(

Wife and I were visiting from interstate and came across Zest this morning and were happy they served and all day breakfast. After a short wait for a table (although we were updated on the progress by the waiter and didn't feel neglected) we were seated and ordered. Orange juice was fresh, food was delicious, well portioned and priced. I ordered a macchiato, and without questioning or explaining, this is exactly what I got! Most cafes 'top it up' so you get a half full flat white but zest provided me with exactly what I expected. Will definitely visit again when we are in town!

I went to Cafe Zest on Monday with a friend and our little ones and had a fantastic experience. The food menu was varied and I really like the sound of all the vegetarian choices. I created my own delicious veggie breakie (which was served all day) complete with a chickpea pattie & an almond latte. The staff were so friendly and knew exactly what to do to accomodate prams and kids. Bringing out toys for my energetic toddler to play with was a lifesaver and kept my little one happy. Highly recommend. Well done

First time I went here, was pleased to have a vegan option, and really appreciated how friendly the staff were to my dogs. :) Went here again today and learnt that this wasn't a fluke - still vegan options on the menu, and staff members were lovely to my new puppy. Will have to visit more frequently.
Andrew Taylor
What a beautiful little cafe. We had breakfast here today and the staff were so accommodating for us and the 3 boys, Pram included. Food and coffee to die for! Many thanks
Joelene Kelly
We dined here for breakfast twice over the 5 days we spent in Glenelg, and will definitely be back. My husband tried the Zesty meat lovers special and Hells eggs, both a 10/10 and the iced coffee, ‘the best iced coffee he’s ever had’!!! I had the Dukkah Eggs, beautiful and very filling. Catered to kids with half serve bacon and eggs, and the pancakes were great! And those mini scroll biscuits yum and so damn cute! Service with a smile and so friendly :) We’ll be back next time for sure

My partner and myself were visiting from WA and found this nice little cafe called Zest in Glenelg. We waited for a table and it was 100% worth it, amazing breakfast and coffee with great service. Will be back when we are visiting again!
Deb Blair
Just stopped in after completing Bay to City and had the most delicious brunch. There were no tables free at the time but the staff made room for us. The staff and owner are so lovely and made us feel very welcome. Thanks guys! We'll be back.
Michael Hoffmann
I had the meatlovers brekky special And it was the best breakfast I have had from a cafe!
Krystle Jordan
So happy i have discovered this place! Best coffee in Glenelg (its even organic) and the staff are absolutely lovely.
Walter Catter
I know a bit about coffee, didn't liked here Toasts seemed to be a bit old Not enough room No nice view
Geoff Tebble
Great spot for brunch Prices and meals were excellent...when in Glenelg a must...
Chris Barsby
Love this intimate cafe. Really think it may have the best coffee in Glenelg. My breakfast was delicious and felt indulgent, although the price was reasonable.
Brian Hibben
Fantastic staff, great location and to top it fantastic food and coffee
Kath Evennett
Great coffee , fabulous Art , friendly staff . A personal fave
Ruthrod Mitchell
Zest cafe is a must visit at Glenelg. Great menu, fantastic coffee, and the staff are friendly and efficient.
Dennis Yeo
the 'zesty' meat lovers breakfast special (poached egg on toast with carmelized onion, spring onion , sour crème , ham, bacon, chorizo) was a SMASH hit !! flavours were delicious together and presentation was a 10...iced coffees and the service was terrific as usual... another win for the Zest ! thanks much
Chris Potter
Breakfast and coffee were sensational and service really quick and friendly
Paul Macdonald
Best breakfast in SA , I’d go there every week if I had chance to
Jenna Mallios
Every time I come here, I am never disappointed. Food tastes great and coffee is good! Service is also very friendly.
Dan TheMan
Only had a coffee but it was exactly to my liking. Friendly and prompt service too! Little gem.
Dan Sway
This is quite honestly one of the best cafes in Adelaide. I only get to stay in SA a couple of months each year and after trying around, this is the pick. Brilliant coffee, incredible food and charming service. Stop reading reviews and go order the "Hell's Eggs."
Michael Moxon
Great food and great service. Found them on trip adviser and decided to come here was well worth it.
Phil Shelton
Great coffee, best porridge!!!
Jen Rose
Delicious food; friendly and prompt service and great ambiance.
Ryan Hill
The best macchiatos down the bay and great customer service.
David-John Beard
Always good.Keep smiling team! The best bacon and eggs in Glenelg.
Susanna Pesenti
One of the nicest cafes in Glenelg. Customer service is friendly and efficient. Great food and coffee. Nice relaxed atmosphere.
Matt Wiseman
Delicious Coffee and fantastic customer care!! This is my first time visiting this cafe. I called beforehand to find out when they close (it was almost closing time) and I arrived 5 minutes afterward but they waited for me! 10/10 will visit again. Next time I'll come a little earlier and try the food!
Lisa Sanchez
Friendly staff, good service. Dog friendly. Very accommodating.
Brenton Ellard
As good as always. Great coffee, great food. Thanks Dave.
Chris Tilbrook
Another good BFast and coffee at Zest.Missed my old buddy Erin,as I have been coming here regurlarly since Dave and Cam took over Zest, over 10yrs ago.
Jessica Morin Metoyer
Our second trip here in our 26 hour stopover in Glenelg. If you visit Glenelg, run -- don't walk -- to Zest Cafe!!
Kate Blacksell
Highly recommend......... The best food & service.
Pinch Of Bacon
The food here was a let down. It didn’t have any flavour and the presentation wasn’t great. It also needed more seasoning. The staff were friendly.
Good Food Good Mood
We went to Zest Cafe which has a 4.5 which is kind of laughable by Melbourne standards but Toto we are not in Kansas anymore. It’s a beachside style cafe so very casual with laidback read relatively slow service. I had a fresh juice which was yummy and the shakshuka special which surprised me when it hit the table given I’ve never sew shakshuka that wasn’t served baked eggs style in a ramekin. The dish was pleasant but definitely not 4.5 territory
Michael Swinsburg
Top interesting food and service. Best in the area for our visit for 3 days. Good coffee. Great friendly staff. Good conversations and advice on food and adelaide.
Peter Budimir
Have frequented Zest for many years and food has always been high quality, tasty, and well-prepared. All-day breakfast is a bonus and eggs are exceptional ... as is the coffee which is consistently as good as anywhere in Adelaide.
Shelby Koelewyn
My mum and I were searching around the streets for so long looking at menus. ehhhh same old same old then we saw the menu at Zest and couldn’t decide because there was so many delicious options! And such decent prices. We had the meat lovers hash. It was so delicious. Coffee was great too. Love finding cafes with something different on the menu and lots to choose from. Staff were super friendly as well x
Rachel Versteegen
Excellent coffee and great service. I just had a double espresso with water on side, and the coffee had plenty of crema, lovely creamy flavour and arrived promptly.
EvilRobotSanta
Great food and good service this morning.
Meat lovers hash was yummy.
Coffee was nice but not great
Pity about other people’s children spoiling the nice atmosphere.
Not sure why people have to take their kids to breakfast anyway????
Nalia
3.5. A nice little cafe with friendly and attentive staff. I ordered the eggs salmone with a serve of mushrooms and this was very good. Eggs were poached to perfection and there was a generous amount of hollandaise. Also tried some of the meat lovers hash which was great, and the special brekkie nachos were reportedly very good. Soy chai latte was a little sweet. Food took a while to come out, but it was a very busy day and they were packed to the brim. Recommend.
Craigellachie
Popular and bustling little joint, some beautiful photography on the walls available for purchase! A solid selection of house made cakes, great customer service, decent coffee and food.
Pictured- Meat lovers hash, Spanish cheesecake

I went this cafe only once for the high rated reviews. I tried their coffee and their house made frittata with salad. It turned out bad choice for me when I found nothing special and two insects in my salad leaves.
Captainscuba
Most pleasant experience with great coffee. Arrived in time for breakfast and found a good selection on offer. Quite small, so may be difficult to find a seat in busy time. Found it worth the wait, though.
Caries Today
Cute little location hidden in plain sight, the energy of Zest is clear as soon as you turn onto Sussex Street.

When we visited, the café was entirely filled, but we were greeted by a charismatic and bright member of staff and seated soon after.

The ambience was nice, busy and cosy with a refreshing ocean breeze. We sat outside and table service was prompt and friendly. We ordered a long black, mocha, and the specials - zesty eggs and meatlovers' hash for a late breakfast.

The food was delicious and the coffee was fantastic. Hope to be back again soon.
I.live.to.eat
drove here after reading the good reviews hoping for a great morning coffee. service super unfriendly and had to wait 10 mins for a take away coffee despite being the only ones waiting (not including seated customers). very weak, not great at all coffee. the vanilla and strawberry muffin was good though. wouldn't come back.
Narlene
My partner's and I favourite brunch spot. The service is always lovely, the food and coffee excellent too. We love coming here. Only thing that didn't allow 5 stars in my opinion is that portions are a little too small for the price but we haven't found a better tasting brunch spot in the Glenelg area to date, and we always continue going back.
Stephen
Most likely the best cafe we have experienced outside of Melbourne!

Glenelg isn't as well known as other Australian beachside suburbs as having a great Cafe culture, but this awesome family owned / run cafe in a little sidestreet off the main drag stands out from the crowd.

We spent most of our stay's breakfasts there! Spectacular eggs, great sourdough, awesome coffee, and all the extras with big smiles and banter. The place is super busy, everyone is on the go, but still have time to make it the perfect experience.

Shame to be going home... cooking for ourselves just wont be the same!
Michael Lake
Four of us from Brisbane and Melbourne dropped in for lunch. The cafe was full. We were told they would hold the first vacant table and they did! The meals and service were first class. Coffee was sensational. We might come back to Adelaide just to come to ZEST again!
Calbee Zhang
It was okay... But definitely does not meet the expectation for a Zomato rating of 4.2. Egg benefit is fairly normal/simple. We ordered 1 small cap and 1 large chai latter but got charged for 2 large. The size surprised me because that is only a regular size in Sydney for which I never need to pay $5.5 each...
Kass
The outdoor seating is nice when you have the sunshine on you. Breakfast options are good, I ate the eggs Benny which was yum. Coffee was good.
Pete
One of my fave cafe's in Adelaide. David the coffee genius makes a fantastic cap and I just love sitting under the grape vine filtered shade enjoying brunch or an afternoon bite and fresh juice. Always good service and consistent food.
Jmajda7
Amazing, consistent coffee.

Great service & they take bookings, which makes it easy for our group to get into the cafe during a busy time (which is nearly all of the time).

The Hells Eggs are one of my favourite dishes ever!
Treat yourself and add the spicy chorizo to it!
Narina Nicole
We go to zest every weekend for breakfast!! It's our local! The place always offers us amazing customer service and delicious meals! Never disappointed!!
Simon Tafe
We really enjoyed the great food and and we found that the coffee is awesome. We found that the staff were nice and the prices were reasonable.
Lauren
Went here for breakfast and the bacon was just fat...not one to ever complain about food but I did and the response was the bit that made me the angriest. The man wasn't genuine and was quite rude and abrupt when he was asking 'what I want'. He could've firstly apologised in a empathetic manner and I understand I ate most of the meal besides the bacon and so I wasn't expecting a refund for the whole meal, I just wanted to let him know that the bacon/the meal wasn't at a standard that you'd assume from a 4.2 cafè rating on Zomato as that held my expectations. Will never be back.
James
Went for breakfast on NYE and the host was fantastic. I got the hottie breakfast and my gf got the dukkah eggs special and both were awesome. Great vibe great place would highly recommend.
Tracy Buchanan
I loved sitting outside under the vines in the sun however I was disappointed when I received my breakfast chosen from the specials board. I ordered eggs Benedict and the hollandaise sauce was packet sauce which I hate! Being a "special" I would expect freshly made hollandaise. This puts me off going back as they are not up to my standard.
Udiberi
The food is limited but decent. Friendly staff. Simple cafe. Nothing to write home about just something simple. Like a local cafe for a simple meal.
Kuma
I have been Zest cafe many times ....food is good and eggs always service perfectly. Me and my wife love this cafe and we come back again.
Gastronomist
had a great breaky here, and decided to get the zesty eggs which were amazing!! My favourite breakfast is eggs benedict but this gives it a unique twist, something different and was delicious! would definitely recommend :)
Shoana
I'm here most weekends and it's always quick, fresh easy food, so much value for money, they give my dog a treat and quite simply have the best coffee in the bay!!
Tom Lewcock
Perfect coffee, awesome place to go for a yummy brunch, great service! Would seriously recommend on Sunday morning after a nice walk on the beach!
Cherise
Went here on recommendations, however have to admit we were a little disappointed. The food wasn't bad but nothing to rave about whatsoever. We ordered bacon and eggs and a mighty muffin (see pictured).
To use the bathrooms you have to enter through the poky kitchen.
Ticked it off but won't be back. Far too many other cool breakfast places to check out!
Smashed Avocado
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful. Everyone was very friendly and amicable! There was lots of variety on the menu! Would return!
Reynaldo
Good food, good value, good service. You have to try their freshly squeezed juice. U can mix any type of juice that you like. I tried orange, celery, and ginger and i have to say it is a good combo.

The beef casserole is another must try. Yummy. The hottie was alright but overall it was a pleasant experience
Joanne
Came during the Easter long weekend. Food (ordered the mighty muffin and smoked salmon baguette) was not spectacular but staff was friendly and coffee was decent. Also, potions were a little too small. Partner and I decided that we would try some of their healthier options such as their muesli if we visit the cafe again.
Andrew Johnston
Pleasant atmosphere. I had the BLT baguette on recommendation from the waitress and it was really nice. Came quickly and was nice and fresh.
Eloise.nicholson
Love this cafe, foods always good, coffee is good, staff are friendly! Love the little sweet treat they give with their coffee and their quiet and peaceful cafe.
Belinda-Mary BumbleBee
Nice food and friendly service but nothing too spectacular. The portions are good for women, my boyfriend was feeling hungry after his meal. They should serve chilled water om a hot day like we had.
JoJo
Zest is my favourite cafe in the Glenelg precinct. For 15 years they have been brewing top notch coffee and delivering simple and delicious food. Weekends are busy so I'd suggest booking. You can generally grab a table through the week.
MGDL
I've been here three or four times over the last 3 years and I always have the Hell's eggs (spicy baked eggs) with a side of chorizo and I always really enjoy my meal. Today was no different, with the Hell's eggs and an iced latte hitting the spot after a long bike ride. However, on of my friends had the "Hottie" and the other has the mighty muffin, and both of them were quite disappointed. Hence, why I haven't given them a higher rating. But I definitely recommend the Hell's eggs!
Gemma Scannell
Good coffee and great zesty eggs! Gets busy so book on the weekend or be prepared for a hectic atmosphere. Friendly staff and try and juice!
Mike
Only had breakfast here but has always been worth the trip. Big breakfast is yum and service is always sharp and friendly if your near a time well worth the trip.
Julies
Delicious Big Breakfast! Best mushroom I've had in a while. Great location in a quiet street yet in the heart of Glenelg. Just great food overall. 👌
Shansymac
Love this place! I live near by and it's a definite go to for a weekend brunch. The Devils Eggs dish is to die for, can't go past it. Coffee is always great and the fresh juice actually tastes like fresh juice. It's often very busy so I've had to wait for a table a couple of times but it never takes long and is worth it. It's a nice setting just off Jetty Rd so doesn't feel hectic. The staff are friendly and the service is quick, including getting your food! I recommend a visit!
Laura
Pretty good food and great juices but the staff always seem disinterested in serving it to you. I get the impressing the owners/managers aren't very good as the staff seem overworked which is a shame.
Bobby
Very friendly staff, very efficient service...best of all? The food was outstanding. Went here after looking on Zomato and now happy to recommend to others. Brilliant!
ILC
Absolutely love it here. Waiters are so friendly, set up is so relaxed and comfortable, food is so gourmet/homestyle with a twist. Highly recommend!
Mathiar
Been here a few times now and haven't been disappointed. They've definitely picked up their coffee game, a lot.
Came here in the winter and the date porridge was amazing and perfect on a cold Adelaide morning! Their other breakfasts have hit the spot and like every Adelaide breakfast place they've got a standard big brekkie if you're hungry.
On the weekends try and get there early though because whenever we've been more than two people we've had to wait, sometimes quite a bit.
Michelle
The zesty eggs are pretty good however menu has been the same for years. Coffee isn't too bad. I've also been greeted with really snobbish attitude a few times.
Kiwifrog_101
Always a great experience. I live locally and have been coming to Zest for years. The staff are always accommodating and friendly. The menu is simple and the specials are also a great choice. I really like the fresh juices and the little flaky biscuits that they serve with the coffees.
Elias
What a lovely little space!
Cozy. Very welcoming. Feels like home. Owner (David) is so friendly and all over the service. Best cafe in Glenelg!
Lukecoppens
Melbourne could learn. I love going to breakfast in my home town of Melbourne. Based on quality, cost and service this place is better than 99% of them.
Thefaeriecupcake
Hit and miss :(. We drove all the way to Glenelg for this! The breakfast menu was rudimentary. I had the eggs with zest. Though they were different to most places, this was relatively too simple for me. The iced coffee was a miss for me. I would probably opt for hot coffee instead.
Ozdolphingirl
Best beachside Brekky. The hottie is the best late breakfast you can have.....spot on delicious every time.
Uncle Mills
Coffee was good and quick

Perfect mornin' coffee !
Dimitri Kargas
The Hells eggs are amazing. Great coffee and excellent service.
Leeah.irons2
Great food/ coffee shame about the waitress. We we're visiting from interstate and did most of our dining here as it was near the hotel. Great food, very average service. We had a heavy set girl service us a few times and lets just say I think someone needs to remind her she works in customer service. Other than that it is really lovely.

Yum. Went here yesterday with a group and ordered the hells eggs. They were delicious and left me nstantly wondering when I would be able to make time to come and have them again. I was also very impressed by how friendly the staff were. highly recommended
Amarketis
Lovely. A beautiful sunny morning whilst having breakfast at this lovely cafe. Great service, brilliant coffee and delicious food. A must to try.
Drlill
Great little find ! From melbourne with love. A group of us ate here over the weekend , from Melbourne (massive foodies here so super impressed ) on a wedding weekend away.
The service was really good they went above and beyond moving tables around to accommodate us . Lovely smiley staff , in particular a pretty blonde who served us . coffee was lovely , the best weak (as asked for) cappuccino I've had in a long time ( it was perfect , not just warm milk like some places do) .One of the female staff recommended the special of the day citrus ricotta with eggs and I had a side of crispy bacon (which was crispy but not burnt ). everything was perfect . The whole table really enjoyed there meals , if we are ever back in Adelaide we will defiantly return . Thank you Zest for making the weekend a memorable one :)
Eduardo Lorenze
Z2???. Alright so we checked out your sister cafe down the road Z2... As soon as we walked in the male waiter with the dirty mo (yes I know its movember and I'm sure he's donated nothing to the cause) greeted us and said what did we want to order. We proceeded to say, "we have only just arrived let us talk with our friends and we'll get back to you." He was back in seriously around 48 seconds.. To which we said ok.. what do you suggest?? He said the eggs from hell are amazing.. We said ok we'll both order these. We didn't realise they were literally 'eggs from hell.' It tasted like eggs in tomato sauce.. So incredibly sweet and zero flavour. The coffee I must say was brilliant but the girl serving the counter with 800 tattoos did not want to be there. If there was a body language convention on negativity she would have taken the cake. Please send some of your more diligent staff down from Zest to look after the place... Holla
Alison
Poached eggs were amazing. Fresh juices and lovely teas. Great breakfast place
K🍦🍦🍦
Not so good. The menu options looked great, but pretty unimpressed when the food arrived. Poached eggs were overcooked. My friend had the rice cake with salsa and really disliked it. Coffee was very average and the service was too.
Maddy Milam
Poor service. We had seen this cute little cafe raved about all over urbanspoon and instagram so we decided we'd pop in on a Sunday for brunch. We walked into the cafe asking for a seat to be told we'd need to wait and so we intended to, but then the waitress told us we'd have to wait outside and she'd get us when there was an available table. So there we were standing awkwardly on the street for a table.

My partner ordered the 'big breakfast' with eggs, bacon, toast and mushrooms. He was rudely told that they did not have any bread left and that he'd have to have a roll, he agreed. But seriously which place that advertises all day breakfast and lunch doesn't have bread??? He also ordered an overpriced juice, I then followed with my order of pancakes, nice and simple. The waitress went off got his drink and went to place her orders with the chef, she then came back and said that they could not make pancakes as they did not have any mix left and could not make any more for me. Really? A bit of flour, egg, milk and butter? She then processed to tell me what they did not have available....

I left, what a ridiculous all day breakfast place!!! Definitely better around down near the bay.
David Fry
Deserves the high ratings. This cafe deserves the high ratings it gets... Food and coffee is fantastic and some of the best customer service I've seen in a cafe.
Sching83
Good Food. Good coffee and friendly service. The Turkish Egg is simply beautiful. Just the croissant with the leg ham is a bit too salty for me.
Rebeccamcmillen
Salty Mediterranean Platter. My platter came out & I couldn't wait to get stuck into the beautiful shiny dolmades & hummus. The turkish bread slightly warmed & soft & squishy inside was delicious. My main criticism was that altogether the flavours were too strong & salty. Individually everything tasted great but I think a soft pecorino or fresh ricotta would have balanced the flavors better. Also, if there was a crunchy element on the plate it would have brought it altogether more beautifully.
Peterhay86
Great little cafe. My friends and I went there for breakfast. The people were very hospitable and the food was amazing!!
We'll be coming back that's for sure!
Ms Momo
Good service, great food and coffee and I love the little outside area under the vines. A hidden gem!
Moody Foody
Lacks the polish!. Came to this place for breakky one morning. I found that the service was outstanding, but the food just lacks polish. I had the meat lovers hash which was on the specials board, and to me this was like they simply fried up all their left over bacon, onion and potato chucked in a bowl and served it with some very plain toast. My partner had bacon and eggs, and this was simply fatty bacon and two poached eggs served with white plain bread and butter. With the amount of 'cool' places open around Adelaide for breakfast and brunch, i think it is important to have a wow factor with what you serve your customers. Although this sounds stupid, but plain white bread simply does not cut the mustard these days, wheres the sour dough? Overall, good service and reasonably good food, just lacks the final touches which so many cafe's around Adelaide are getting right.
Foodlicious
Favourite lunch spot in Glenelg for summer cafe style food and pleasant service
Thanhli00
Good Food, Lovely Coffee & cosy. We loved the light food we had there for lunch, the coffee was great and the atmosphere was friendly and cosy. We will eat here again. Glenelg in Summer is special and this little place shines. Thanh Li

Disappointing. Visiting SA from WA and visited Zest on recommendation. The staff were anything but friendly - meal was OK only - muesli with 'fruit' had a few bits of Apple on top - none if the amazing fruit that is available at the moment. Wouldn't bother to go back or recent end it to anyone.
Jm
Best coffee!!
RBG
This place used to be great however the last couple of times we have been we have been really disappointed. The coffee is great but the breakfast is very average- fatty bacon, 3 mushrooms, burnt chorizo, rock solid toast, solid poached eggs. Disappointing because we used to love going here for a Weekend breakfast. Hopefully it goes back to how it used to be.
Ilovefood
Had breakfast here on a Sunday and there was a small wait to get a table. I didn't even mind waiting with the owner of the place being an absolute champion and forever trying to offer free coffee and extra food for making us wait. After we were seated, ordered the big breakfast and the missus ordered the poached eggs with smoked salmon with orange cream. Everything in the big breakfast tasted fresh, clean and very tasty, the missus's dish was great as well. A front runner for the best breakfast/brunch in Adelaide, will definitely be going back
Beardface
My wife and I where coming into Glenelg by tram when a purple car bike rack caught our eye. We were pleasantly surprised to discover Zest cafe hidden away just off jetty road. It had a cozy Mediterranean feel and the staff where polite and inviting. The menu was fantastic. My wife had a pumpkin and roast capsicum salad and I had a beautiful Turkish pide with pesto, feta and roast beef. Fresh squeezed juice was delicious! We come from NSW but on our next visit we will definitely return. Friendly, helpfull staff. Beautiful food and a warm cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Natties
Great Coffee. Coffee spot-on & zesty eggs were yummy with a great balance of flavours and ingredients. I'm keen to come back and explore the menu further.
Would recommend ++
Phill
Hells eggs....hell yeah. A really positive experience with nice staff. The hells eggs were cooked just right and the coffee was perfect.
Deb Taylor
Awesome breakfast pre-Melbourne Cup day! So flavoursome and got a long macchiato that was actually a long macchiato (not a strong flat white).
Jace Victor
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit here today, always busy and worth the wait if there are no tables free.

Fast and friendly service, coffee came with a beautiful leaf on top and the #5 bagel was to die for.

Well worth the visit, wonderful vibe.
Easy Eater Nath
As a local and frequent cafe sitter, I can say this place is gold. Not only the best coffee in Glenelg is served here, the food and service consistently great. This is where Glenelg locals in the know go to eat.
Wombat
As a long time customer of Zest Cafe Gallery I returned for another meal. Not surprisingly the visit was amazing. The food is great, the place is buzzing with the kind of hole in the wall charm you would normally get in trendy hipster cafes but without the wank factor that comes with that and the service is second to none.

I cannot recommend this cafe enough. There is no better place to eat or drink down the bay. And if all that is not enough the artwork on the wall is ever changing and always for sale.

Zest Cafe Gallery is one of South Australia's best kept secrets.
Just My Opinion
Nice place to stop and revive at Glenelg. My partner and I popped in for cake and coffee on the weekend and the place was pretty busy. I had to wait a few minutes to get a table but it was Sunday afternoon at Glenelg so there were a lot of people out and about.
Service was friendly and it was not a long time before we had our order. Nice coffee and the cake was just what we needed to continue our visit. We will be going back to have a hot lunch one day soon as some of the meals coming out looked very tasty.

Visited Zest today after it was recommended to me and sadly I will never return. Never have I been treated so appalling whilst eating out. After ordering a side of field mushrooms costing $3 I was disappointed when all that appeared was 4 small button mushrooms... Not field mushrooms but enjoyable either way. When I went to pay I politely mentioned to the waitress about the small serving size she then referred me to her manage. I explained to him that I wasn't complaining but for future reference perhaps the serving size should be improved. I then further explained that a I was a fellow hospitality worker so I knew how the industry worked the managed replied so you know everything about hospitality then, gob smacked and appalled I walked out. Safe to say I will never return. And for future reference improve your serving sizes and perhaps learn the first rule in hospitality is that the customer is always and then you can claim to "know everything about hospitality"

Misleading. First of all, a gallery this aint. The tenancy is an old, cramped and dirty hole. Their "customer toilet" is accessible through the kitchen, which is so tiny, one must dodge past staff in order to use. Our waitress was a little too casual and wore her long hair down; a huge no-no in hospitality. My friend enjoyed his 'Hells Eggs', whilst I found 'The Hottie' left a lot to be desired. There are other options in gorgeous Glenelg, offering better food, service and views.

Always busy, which is a sign of great food n service! I had the zesty eggs today which were delicious! I swapped the smoked salmon for ham. Which did not seem to he a problem at all, very adaptable! Thanx guys!
My husband had thd spicy breakfast (I forget the name now, but I don't forget the taste I pinched!! Another delicious and original breakfast! It's nice to have something a bit left of centre to choose from for breakfast! A menu with a point of difference!!

A hidden gem in Glenelg I found whilst heading to the beach from parking. Its a cute chic cafe which showcases how simple is good. Atmosphere here in the mornings are great, with light coming through and lighting up the various artwork they have on display. They have a good selection of simple breakfast items (including the delicious Baked Eggs) and also tasty sandwiches for lunch. Coffee is good as well. Be sure to drop by on the way to the beach.

Alright food, terrible service. First we got there and asked for a table for 3, they told us there would be up to 20mins. We wait outside for 10minutes whilst looking at an empty table the whole time thinking that "must be reserved or something" proceed to ask another person and they say it's free. So yea food was good, not to long wait, nice coffee, table on a slant not that fun to eat at. Proceed to say whilst the man behind the counter says "Wow 3 big breakfasts that's alot of food!", (there was 3 of us eating....) that being the same person that told us to wait 10mins. Terrible service, nice spot and decor.

Great food, I had the BLT bagel, delicious! Next time I would swap the coffee for a beer though. Decor not so inspiring but persevere for the food. Bonus points for playing Bon Iver

Doesn't live up to the hype. Every time I have been here, I have been disappointed. The food is ok, but not great. The waitress who took our orders needed to double check everything, and even then needed to be corrected most of the time! We were also asked several times throughout the meal if we were enjoying ourselves, which got a little much.

Great service. Glorious fresh food and a very relaxing outdoor lunch. Definitely coming back!

Make a booking before you head there, it sure is popular. My partner had the Hell's egg with a side of chorizo - amazing! The zesty eggs were so so. Probably could do with more floor staff considering how busy they were - my partner stood up to get his own order as he could see it sitting on the counter, missed by the busy staff. But all in all, cozy joint and very enjoyable breakfast.

Plum and Almond muffins 4 us. Everytime I visit from melbourne, this place is excellent.
The most friendly staff in all of Adelaide, best coffee, great ice coffees and ice chockies for the hot days and yummy breaky. Can't go past it.

Pear and chocolate muffins. We had the best service of our week long holiday in south Australia at this funky cafe. Staff were attentive and courteous, remaking smoothies to our taste. Zest serves extremely good coffee and their homemade, straight from the oven pear and chocolate muffins were to die for.

NOrmally great. Normally i love this place. Small and always friendly but on this occasion they made me feel very unwelcome. They made a effort to be friendly to other customers/friends but myself and the tables next to us felt very unwelcomed. Brownie was delicious coffee ok. Its normally great so i guess it was just a bad day.

-----15 Feb, 2013-----

Friendly Staff. This place is great for food & drinks. But the SERVICE is amazing.
