Review Europa At The Bay - Glenelg

Sahabeh Mastour Tehrani
Tried this place 2 times once for breakfast and once for dinner during my stay in Glenelg. Breakfast: Coffee was good , not burnt nor with too much milk . Just didn’t give the feeling having breakfast in a cafe see images 🥲 Dinner :food was good , pricy and I found a bit of plastic in my dish and couldn’t eat the rest of my food. The staff apologized but she left for the night and other staff didn’t know she told me that she will wave my meal’s cost …😔

One of the best restaurants in Glenelg by far. Every time I visit Adelaide I always have lunch and dinner several times at the Europa. The dishes are well served and prepared in a particular excellent way.

Very good dining experience, oysters are fresh and bulky, the pizzas are lovely overall very good experience, offer a wide range of local and imported wine, fois gras is delicious with resin on top.

Most delicious food in Adelaide!!! It's has never disappointed, great taste and portions and value. Simply the best 🥂

Food was over priced for the serving size that it is, considering the flavours were hit and miss. No where near enough pita for the dips. The crispy pork belly wasn't crispy either- the meat was cooked nicely, but the fat wasn't crispy at all, and had that weird chewy texture, and looks like it was flash fried. If the flavours were out of this world I could understand... But we had better food at Brunelli's last week. Service was friendly enough. Wouldn't go back when there's so much else on offer in Glenelg.

I have to say I am not one for complaining - I prefer to just never go back and tell family and friends but I have made an exception under these circumstances. This meal cost a total of $81 (I used an EatClub 30% off voucher which came off this total but this wasn’t discussed until after I picked up the food). It was very tasty and I have to say well done to the chef for creating these dishes. That is, unfortunately, the only positive I can give. I ordered over the phone and all seemed good, when I arrived to pickup the food it was brought across to me and I displayed my EatClub voucher (which had, by the time I arrived, expired however it has been ordered before the expiry time). The lady said she would accept it and the guy working behind the bar said you’re lucky we’re going to disable that now because it’s meant for eat in not take away (even though I chose specifically take away). The bag looked small and when I returned home my wife asked if that’s all there was. After opening it up, you will see from the photos, that is where the problem really started - the amount of food provided for the money is absolutely atrocious - I’m sure you’d agree? I called up to check if we had missed a bag and he informed me that’s all that came without order. After checking the menu I realised this wasn’t correct. I’m sorry to have to post this, local business needs our support, especially at the moment but this amount of food (especially the $40 share platter) is completely shocking.

EUROPA AT THE BAY coffee was on point, I had a long black with a dash of nut milk - my staple I ordered a piece of gluten free toast with poached eggs, spinach and avocado - all up $28.00 which I thought was ok the expensive side ( it was Good Friday which included 15% surcharge ) the eggs were cooked perfect 👌🏾 The spinach was full of butter which I was not a fan of. Overall not bad Great atmosphere and the service was super quick My mate ordered pancakes with a banana milkshake which looked ok

This place was recommended to me so I thought I’d give it a try. Where do I start!? I don’t like paying a surcharge of 1.3% just to use my credit card. Strike 1! The staff were quite abrasive…no ‘please’ or ‘thank you’ (the customer is, after all, paying their salaries. A bit of courtesy wouldn’t have hurt). Also, the pizza, when delivered to the table was almost thrown down. Strike 2. They were disinterested - and it certainly showed! They also wore their masks under their noses! It may seem a minor point but, it's a lawful requirement in these pandemic times. Strike 3. The pizza was, at best, average.

Had a Groupon for a seafood platter and the food was really good and plenty of it. Amazing value, highly recommend it.

We had the chargrilled calamari and frutti (seafoods) as mains with a trio of dips for entree. The hummus was to die for! Couldn’t fault the meal and the service! The waiter had excellent knowledge on the wine which was nice to see!

Sadly I'd love to say our lunchtime experience was fabulous, as was my previous experiences with this establishment had been, but I can’t. My Mother's chicken was unfortunately very dry & the service definately dropped off after mains, not from being busy, as we were only one of a handful of tables, possibly just laziness ? So much so that by the time I found someone to try to order dessert, I was told the kitchen was closed & it was to late. Very sad

In the 10 days we stayed in Glenelg, we had brekky here 7 days & were never disappointed. Great coffee, helps when the barista knows what they are doing & this one definitely does. It's always busy because of the quality of food, coffee & service. Even so we never waited once for a table & this is because the staff were always aware that they want people in there. Got to know Sheldon who was one of their excellent staff & they always seem to take time to have a bit of a conversation with you. Really good customer service here 😄👍

Found the food and staff were great only thing that wasn’t was their prices found the fish quite expensive but it was lovely so I expect you get what you pay for xxx

My partner and I have eaten here twice now, and both times everything has been fantastic. My partner got the same dish (crab linguine) both times as he loved it so much! Lovely atmosphere and staff, food was served very quickly. Will definitely eat here again soon!

Had a magnificent lobster linguine tonight. The service was amazing and made our meal and experience such a happy one. Will certainly be returning and recommending. Thanks Europa!

Was there last night had a fabulous meal staff very good and helpful would recommend first class
Graeme Klepzig
Great staff well trained polite and professional. Great food thanks guys
Danilo Migliorini
A good Italian restaurant! I had a serve of their char grilled calamari and I was impressed with the presentation and the taste. My girlfriend had monte e Mare linguini, I tried it and I really liked it! Good wine selection and reasonable prices! I’ll be back surely!

Third time here in 12 months. Each visit more disappointing than the last. This time we waited five minutes to be seated at one of many free tables. Then waited another five minutes for menus, at which point we weren't offered drinks (on 37 degree day). We then proceeded to be ignored for a further 15 minutes before leaving in disgust. The food is *okay* if you manage to be served. But really, don't bother. Brings your vibe down. Last time ever, and we live at Glenelg eating out often.
Leah Byron
Fantastic service, quality food, and perfect coffee. I highly recommend the buffalo cheese entre, though it was a special do you might miss it.
Paul
Wow, wow and wow. Risotto we had was amazing and the service from the waiters is second to none. Keep up the great work guys! We are over here from Melbourne on holidays so any Melbournians you need to try this place👌

Wish I could be more positive about this place however I was thoroughly disappointed. The staff tried their best, but the quality of the food was underwhelming. The food was over priced for the quality. The thing that upset me most was the $16 fondant that was served burnt. The waiter took it back before it even hit the table. He soon came back out with it, except to hide the burnt fondant it was now covered in icing sugar. Really guys? I'm not stupid. I could smell the burnt pudding. They tried to tell me it is supposed to look black because of the cocoa. That was a really disappointing way to finish an average meal. We ate the ice cream and inside of the pudding, but nothing was rectified by the staff. Could not recommend this place after a disappointing, yet costly experience.

Sorry but I can't be nice. I purchased a Groupon voucher, booked for October holiday Monday via the Groupon app and received a confirmation. Arrived on the day to discover the booking had been cancelled (not by me!) Owner/manager was arrogant, uncaring and unhelpful, even though the place was almost empty. We left and will not be returning to use the voucher due to the unpleasant experience.

I'm sorry I can't be polite or friendly about this restaurant. Having been told about my allergy and having informed me what I could eat on the menu I still suffered anaphylaxis. Even though my tongue was fat and I was choking the manager did not believe they had poisoned me. I can't believe his attitude, he dragged out the chef and made him swear the food was good, even though I was sitting there choking. Unbelievable!

The people I went with had the lobster special and raved with every mouthful about how delicious it was. When they moved onto dessert (citrus tart) they said it was the best dessert they’d ever eaten, and discussed flying to Adelaide to eat at this restaurant for their birthday!

I had a pizza and thought it was pretty good too. If you’re in Glenelg it’s worth a visit. Staff were friendly and attentive too.
Thecasualdiner.
Warning: if you use a groupon deal you cannot use it on the same day or even days after. They only reserve a very few tables to Groupon and do not inform until brought.

For the kids spaghetti bolognaise is very mourish and easy to eat. The meals of the day were also lovely. The fish for example had a beautiful crispy skin and was cooked just right, but the salsa was lost and there just wasn't enough of that sauce that came with it. Shame as it was very good.

The dessert was top sweet, the London tart pastry was also a little to thick it was harder to cut through the shell than I would have liked. I really lied the idea of the burn sugar ontop but wasn't sure why there was icing sugar into of that and why the poached pear on an already really sweet dish. Having said that the pear was poached just beautifully. A hard one to rate, a little on the pricier side overall but still one of the nicerplaces for dinner along this strip that I have been to so far.

Recent trip to Glenelg noticed this Italian restaurant & decided to try out the coffee. With the double shots in the small cups it cost $10 for the two which we thought a tad overpriced. However the flat whites were ok was Vittoria blend which I don't usually go for, but in this instance it tasted pretty smooth & super strong
Morris
The service was great they were very polite and professional. Certainly customer focused , with follow ups and can we help with anything else.Potato herbed pizza bread, Double order of fresh grilled sardines and the duck breast risotto were all very nice.
Master Diner
This place has a death rattle. They took our order and began to make our hot drinks. Then we got 'sorry our eftpos machine has not been working too well'. 'There is an ATM two doors down.' I then asked if we could try my card on their eftpos machine and it worked.'
This is a restaurant that is trying to operate on a cash basis. That rings alarm bells.
The hot drinks were not that great. The place was empty on a Sunday with the adjacent food outlets going gang busters. I won't return and I wouldn't recommend Europa.
Sarah Lowe
Awful experience. We went out for a work lunch. Waited am hour for food. My pork belly was over cooked with soggy crackling and the potato underneath was actually cold!
I didn't have time to send it back as we'd already waited so long. When I told the man when leaving he sulkily said "yeah, sorry". Not good enough for $35!

I went to the Europa Espresso Bar, which is I presume part of this restaurant, to get some gelato on a hot day. Sampled the hazelnut and pistachio flavours and was not impressed. The texture of the hazelnut was grainy without enough flavour. The pistachio tasted mainly like almond essence.
Niss
Breakfast is overpriced for what you get! The hollandaise sauce was pretty much melted butter and lacked flavour and coffee was the worst coffee I've ever had in Adelaide!
JJfood
A group of 8 of us dined here last night, this place is among the group of restaurants on jetty street on the south side of the street right down in mosely square. Service was friendly but slow and a little inattentive, not for lack of trying but just stretched quite thin. The time between ordering and meal arrival was probably 45mins plus. We had grilled calamari, pan fried chicken, vegetable pizza, a europa salad, seafood pasta and salt/pepper calamari. The calamari was very well cooked, soft and buttery meat with no fishy taste. Not many places actually get that right... The chicken was also very good, moist inside and crispy exterior. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals.

I think if the service was more prompt I would give a higher rating for sure, also if the prices were lowered a bit too. It's ok to charge 30+ for refined service if you can pull it off. Great food though and the service was friendly, will keep Europa in mind if I'm ever down this way again.

Very enjoyable excellent meals salsicce Arosta was tasty light , quite delightful. Mozzarella Caprese pleasant but a little stingy on the mozzarella.
Nice environment and accessible location
I would gladly recommend.

Came here for a birthday dinner and really enjoyed it! Serving sizes were amazing along with the quality of food served. Service was great, can't complain at all and hoping to come back in the near future. Good location but a pain in terms of parking, which is annoying but not at fault of the restaurant at all

Interesting breakfast. Seems the most expensive of the cafes with outdoor seating along Jetty Rd, but has options like eggs in napolitano sauce, which were good. Good coffee as well. Strange system of getting you to order at the counter on the gelato side of the restaurant and they wanted a table number, which couldn't be found anywhere on the table itself. Otherwise, staff were good.

Very Uncomfortable. We came to Europa At The Bay to try some Italian cuisine and coffee with my husband and daughter. We are a big fan of Italian cuisine so thought that this would be ideal. However, after eating out the front we had seen enough of the man on the coffee machine winking and whistling at young girls as they walked past. This was a grown man, about 6 foot 5 inches tall with short hair and a foreign accent, behaving like a complete pervert. My daughter said to me that he kept looking at her as she ate. We felt extremely uncomfortable, and left.

That was the last time we had been to Europa At The Bay, and it will definitely be the last.

An unfortunate experience.... I came here with my partner expecting a nice dinner by the beach. However, the rude staff here gave us a very difficult time. They did not welcome us at the door, they did not say hello when taking our order, and they looked very unhappy to be there.

When our meal finally arrived, we did not get vegetables on the side, there was no salt and pepper, and no knives and forks. When we asked for cheese for our pasta, the waitress told me I would have to wait a few minutes because she was too busy. I am never coming back here again!

Don't eat here. I'll have to be honest about this place, the food here is over-priced, the coffees are served almost cold, and the staff are very loud and mean, like the tall big nosed Italian barista. He is a real jerk!

Not once did they make me feel welcomed. It's like they wanted me to just pay the bill and get lost. I'd eat anywhere but here again in the future.

Lovely Breakfast. Enjoyed their poached eggs on toast with bacon. Eggs poached to perfection. Bacon cooked to the point of crispiness while still being edible. Presented beautifully on the plate. Only down side was the bread, a bit too thick. Polite and attentive staff who made you feel comfortable. Great place to start the morning.
Nicola Wintulich
Terrible food. Nothing to like about to the food here. The carpaccio lacked flavor, olives were served in some woeful vinaigrette, the "crispy skin" pork belly was soggy, and the pizza was cold and under cooked. At $98 I would have expected to enjoy at least one dish. We will not return.

Yummy Breakfast!

Bad brekkie.. The worst breakfast we've had at Glenelg and we have tried most over the year. the omelette was tough with store bought salsa in the middle $21 for a tiny amount of spinach (watery) and bacon on the side $10 we asked for some tomato sauce to go on some .ones sausage $3. We shouldn't have eaten it but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Needless to say l was unwell for the rest of the day. I live at the bay and like to promote the area but will be putting people off going there.
Italia_roks_soccer
Can't spell Europe or pizza. Worst gnocchi I've ever had. Would not recommend going there
Sadaf.sassani
Good food!. Dined here last night and ordered the crab linguine and pumpkin gnocchi; both were excellent. Service was friendly. Would definitely go again.
JG
Didn't love it. The food was quite small for the price and a little bland (pasta dish). Waiter was pleasant enough but not particularly efficient. We had to ask for drinks numerous times and there wasn't a hurry in clearing our table. For the money I was disappointed.

Great dinner of Tuna steak and veges
Nice wine by the glass and very good service
I can not see any elements of the negative reviews so either new staff or very low tolerance by the reviewer
Pinesquirrel
Our usual modus operandi is to consult urbanspoon, then choose the restaurant. Feeling reckless, we did this out of order today. Serendipity at work perhaps? We found the staff exceptionally helpful, accommodating and happy to chat. Food was pretty good, especially the grilled calamari and Europa pizza. Coffee was a notch above the usual. And Peroni on tap. Cold, smooth and utterly refreshing. Sometimes it's good to live dangerously. :)
Mr Smith
Wow staff are rude as here. Stand at the wait to be seated sign to be yelled at "can I help you"? Well yes obviously we are waiting to be seated. Then the bald guy come over in a condescending tone and made it so obvious he did not want to be there or care about customer service. Give this place a miss.

Happy days. Went tonight for a celebrationary dinner with son and husband and loved it. Top notch, not too pricey, great service and food beautiful. Will be returning

Been several times, always positive. Can't believe how many negative reviews I'm seeing. Me and my husband have been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. We've been here for breakfast 3 times, lunch 3 or 4 times, and for a late night pizza a few times. The pizzas are always excellent. Nice base, well cooked, quality toppings. Coffee is always good. My husband is a latte nut, and he says the latte's here along with scoozi in rundle street are always consistently great.
Also had a relatives birthday here with a large group, and they were very accommodating considering how many customizations were requested on meals, and the rest of the place was full as well. All the mains were great.

As for bad service, I haven't seen it. We came here once when they were packing up after the lunch crowd had left, the waiter kindly told us they weren't doing lunch, but he offered us some foccacias and piadinas, so we ordered all three that they had left and they were delicious. One of the few good places left at the bay.
Chille
Not very welcoming. Hmmm, the food is very good, traditional Italian flavours, well done, good quality produce and you do pay for it. BUT, why oh why do these places employ waiters that could not care less and don't smile. This guy was not even a snooty Gen Y, no he was a seasoned waiter, almost a senior. No small talk, no smiles, get your own water, forgot our serve of vegies. When it came time to pay we had to go looking for the bill, they were in a mad rush washing the floors and closing up at 9.30pm Wednesday on a Clipsal weekend.

I love this place. Not a local but have come here twice in two years and its been perfect both times. I can't remember what we ordered the first time but they were all pastas and all four of us were very happy. Last night we had some garlic bread for entree which was buttery and delicious. Come out quickly too. We had the chicken meatball spaghetti - wow. The meatballs were really moist and tasty and the tomato sauce was really flavoursome. We also shared a pizza - the pepperoni one. This was also fantastic and a little spicy. We couldn't choose between the two which was out favourite. The service was great too. Will come back here next time we are in SA :)
Cathy.johnson
Really nice dinner. Not sure why many previous reviews were negative...glad I didn't check beforehand. I hadn't been to Europa for a few years but remember it as a great meal. This time was no different. We were a group of 5 of 3 generations. We shared mixed dips that I normally wouldn't order but they were delish. Each main was equally good and the service great, particularly on a busy night close to xmas. Would return in an instant!
Pete
So for me, bunch of a rare t.... So for me, brunch of a rare thing so I look forward to it being great (even just a litte). Alas, this place fell well short. The coffee & service were fair but the juice was not fresh (unless opening a 2l berri bottle equates as such) and the hollandaise sauce was poor (heavy, almost cheesy, now that I don't get).
Robert.armstrong
A sour taste...... Dear fellow foodies, it seems the manager did not like my original review so I am updating it to provide you with a better picture. Food was generally good, although one of our group who had pasta with lobster still felt queasy 24 hours later. Service was lacking. Apart from the difficulty in getting water, one of our group asked for a tomato juice which was delivered in an unopened can! More reminiscent of Joe's Diner than a supposed restaurant. However, the coup de grâce came on paying. Here is what happened - I will leave it for you to draw your own conclusion. Bill came to $467 and we put in $480 in cash. The waiter came back and told us we were $40 short, i.e there was only $440. In reality, the shortfall would have been $27, so why did he say it was $40? Needless to say, none of our group will ever return, and you can be sure that our friends will get that message. Moral of the story? As with any restaurant, always check the bill, and if paying by cash, get the waiter to count it before they leave the table.

DON'T take your kids there .... DON'T take your kids there
Appalling meals that are overpriced !!!
Generally speaking its CRAPPY all round...

Terrible service. We ate here Thursday night and must admit we found the waiter service to be absolutely terrible. on our arrival we were curtly told " just a minute" , no pleasant greeting , just this is your table, the young waiting staff could hardly pour the water into the water lasses, didn't take away the empty glasses when they bought new ones , just really disappointing service. food was quite nice but overshadowed totally by the lack of service . we wont be back
LMS
Slick service but friendly and attentive. Deilicious pate and Italian sausage entres to share then a seafood pasta each. Nice to be able to order a small main pasta.Just right. The Europa house red was a very pleasant drop.
Feefee
Amazing breakfasts and coffee here.... Had eggs Benedict which was sooo good. Would come back any time :)
Geoff Cook
Wow, if ever a place needed a lesson in customer service this is it.
Staff were so busy rushing around doing nothing, could not understand the waiter when he tried to explain the specials.
Mains arrived before they cleared the table, and expected us to clear the space.
They charge $15.00 corkage for wine, then did not attempt to open or pour.
At the end we had to collect our bill, noticed corkage for two bottles not one.
We queried this to be told they had logged us having fwo bottles. We disagreed, waiter told us he had cctv footage.
When we asked to see it he called the police!

Police arrived, we got our refund. What a waste of time over $15.00 which they did nothing for.

Great for your reputation, call the police when you have a customer complaint!

Give this place a miss.

A bit luck luster, I come over to adelaide for business regularly and thought I would give this place a go! There are much better places in Glenelg to have breakfast! Probably won't be back
Jb
Sorry did not enjoy. No no no..formulaic... awful... bad service... dirty cutlery and plates.. or maybe it is just me I really do not like Glenelg but was stuck here one day..to be honest not much in Glenelg does it for me at all.. sorry..
Grant
Breakfast time.. Called in for breakfast and coffee this-morning. Staff were polite and demonstrated good energy, just a nice vibe. Food time.... Bacon, eggs and sausage for me, eggs Benedict for my wife, both meals were well presented, and of a good standard. The only negative was the the sausage lacked flavor. Also, although the meal was nice, i think that it was a little expensive for what we received. All in all it was still enjoyable.
Madeline Cracknell
A waste of money and a ruined night out. Really disappointed with the service and food. We thought the prices would reflect quality of food and service, instead waiter made me feel embarrassed and a hassle when i requested for some minor alterations to my meal. At this point I wanted to go to a another restaurant who would accommodate me, but i gave the benefit of the doubt. 40 minutes after order our food arrived. My boyfriends chicken kiev was tasteless and bland and presented poorly. My meal came without dressing and potatoes as requested...but instead of without olive oil i think they added extra as my veggies were dripping in excess oil so much my serviette couldn't soak it all up. The calamari was the only part of my meal worth eating but not worth $29. The worst part being the waiters appeared to be the owners--very poor customer service. Wont be going back and definitely wont be recommending friends. Nothing positive to say.
SB
Enter at your own peril. As far as recommendations go, if there was a minus score this restaurant would be the first to get it! Had dinner there Saturday night and was extremely disapointed. The Asian waiter was very sweet but obviously overcompensating for his extremely rude counterpart who provided nothing but lip service and foot shuffling when we had sat there for over 1/2 an hour waiting for drinks. Meals were horrible and that's being nice, over cooked steak, pizza was cold and calamari chewy. Sold a bottle of wine without advising they were closing only to be kicked out 10 minutes later. Would not recommend!

We arrived at Europa on New Year's Eve for dinner just after 6 pm. The first waiter said we had till quarter past 8 to eat. Another guy came and said quickly if one person doesn't eat we have to take the table. We had to order a drink and food. About 7:30 he says chop chop we have 50 minutes 5 minutes less then we were told. One persons steak was overcooked and I asked for my pasta to have no chilli but they still put chilli. Just felt very rushed.

Europa is easily the best place for breakfast in glenelg ,maybe even Adelaide...

If your not there early, there can be quite a wait but I promise you its worth it.

Perfectly poached eggs and crispy bacon, work very well with a perfectly frothed coffee, plus the young breakfast chef is very easy on the eyes :D
Rodney - Villa D'Este
Spinach & ricotta creps with napoletana sauce was nice but luke warm. Bacon & poached egg disappointing. Egg was nuked into a golfball. The best was my Corona to which I asked for nip of tequila and tabasco. Waiter did the right thing and gave the golfball to chef to use on his day off.

Europa at the bay!! Been here a few times, never been let down. Always fantastic service and friendly well knowledgable staff. Breakfast is a must, and best coffees we've had in Glenelg. Good to see a few new faces, thank you to Ross and Kayla for a fantastic experience. Well be back!! Keep up the good work.

Dinner for 3 last night at Europa. Big mistake.

Ordered 3 mains:
1. calamari so rubbery that you couldn't even cut it, let alone eat it. Sent back to chef for comment. Result: "Apologies, and how about some free coffees". How about cooking it right?
2. rack of lamb, OK but overcooked - medium rare turned out to be just under well-done
3. pork bellies, large serve but just very ordinary

Ignored by staff for the rest of the evening. Eventually had to get up to collect our bill at the counter. When asked why, waiter's excuse was "Sorry, still suffering from Friday-itis" (It was Sunday.)

Summary: incompetent chef, disinterested waiters. Highly not recommended.
Kitkat
Terrible service. Waiters couldnt care less. Had breakfast with two others, all our meals came out seperately. Each perso had already finished meal when the next persons came out. I thought this place was a restaurant. Would never return.
Hazel
Cold cold cold!. The place was freezing with no attemps by staff to help warm the place up. Customers all sitting in overcoats and scarfs. Staff very dismissive of customer comments. On Scoupon deal which had far too much food and very rushed service, 4 large courses in 90 mins, not good for the indigestion!! Wouldn't have paid full price as food was only average. Won't be going back
Nik
Oh so cold!! Mid winter but no heating, everyone in outdoor coats. Waiters dismissive when told too cold - almost an argument at end of meal. Very poor customer service. Food below average - chef needs to learn to cook pork belly properly. Value ok as on scoupon but would have felt very unhappy paying full price. Not recommended, until some heating and manners of appreciating customer feedback.
Andy
Used voucher for 4. Amazing value. Food was exceptional in quantity and quality . Highly recommended

Great food and service. The meals are great and same as the service, had good experience with friends and will come back again
Jcrouton
Awful. Sorry... dirty cutlery and crockery (no apology when hinted at) ..inattentive service.. ordinary food.. waitress who literally hid when we tried to complain... will never be back
Krishna Brannigan
Extremely overpriced, slow sloppy unfriendly service, no cutlery, overcooked waffles, hunt for the salmon In short awful

Helpful staff. I noticed there are a lot of negative 1 review post. Not suspicious at all ( Sarcasm!)

I just wanted to say thank you to the young girl who helped direct me and my partner to our hotel.

Breakfast was wonderful and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

I honestly hope who ever is trying to tarnish your businesses reputation grows up!

Thanks again.

So very disappointing, food was cold, and ordinary. Arincini balls were inedible, I spat them out, service was also ordinary, I cant believe this place is still in business, there r such better restaurants for the price they charge.
Foodies
Place was nice but food was a big disappointment. Not worth the money even with a voucher deal. One nice waiter the rest were ordinary at best, wont be back for the cold and tasteless food.
Hungryfoodie
One of the nice breakfast places at the bay. Just read some reviews from people commenting on staff levels etc it's always been fine when I have been - people should be aware of staffing costs at the moment. The reality is its just impossible to staff up all the time considering the huge wage costs. Take into account when going out for breakfast your not paying the same as you would for dinner but staff cost the same. To also suggest and name other Cafes to go to instead - seems very suss especially with only one review. I would recommend Europa it was lovely when I went for breakfast - I guess judge it for yourself
DREW
Alway good. Love coming into a place where the staff know you by name and the food is always good.

Tania & Tim are fantastic.

One of the best places at the bay.. As a local I have always loved this place since it opened.

The food has always been exceptional without fail.
Likewise with the service.

Reading some of the revues I have noticed a few complaints about service.

I rarely do this but in the case of Europa I feel I have to say this:
Because the place is slighly up market and in Glenelg it does attacked a small crowed of pretentious wanta be's who are quiet rude and loud. You know the ones I mean the ones who will always order off menu or complain to try and impress there friends.

While they are only a small part of the clientele they do make them self known to the entire restaurant when present and are not usually local.

To these people I say grow up, your not impressing anyone and stop ruining my experience .
I would also like to point out wait staff are Human with Human responses not robots. I can completel
Food Glorious Food

LOVE EUROPA. This restaurant has it all, if you just pop in for a coffee and cake with a friend, maybe a light lunch or perhaps a special day this place caters for all types.
I have been coming here for more than 2 years now and things havent changed, still great service. The staff make my family and i feel welcome every time its as though im a part of the family, kodos to those involved.
The food is amazing!!! big serves of pastas to fill the belly in the winter to mouth watering steak, i have just about eaten everything on the menu cant folt it at all. The thing i look forward to each time i visit is what they have on the specials board, the chefs understand the balance of flavours and a credit to them. to all the managment and staff at Europa at the bay KEEP IT UP 10/10

Only average. Great spot, service OK but food was average. Fried calamari a bit oily and the putanesca sauce on the spaghetti was terrible (made from tomato puree with a few other things thrown in - too sweet and strong). Won't be returning

Just ok.... Nice place to sit, but the food was a bit off key. Three of us all ordered two poached eggs with bacon. I opted for an additional hash brown. The bacon was the only good part of it. All of our 'poached' eggs were almost more like hard boiled. No runny yolk like you expect from a poached egg, it was solid. Also, they must have used so much vinegar in the water that all you could taste was the vinegar soaked into the white of the egg. My 'hash brown' was definitely from a frozen packet. Perfect shape, no flavour. It's not that hard to make your own hash browns. It was edible but with so many other cafes close by I won't be rushing back to this one.

Haven't been for awhile, but what has happened to this place? It is terrible. Coffee was terrible! The Asian waiter guy is unintelligible. Somebody said he was the manager?!?! No wonder this great Italian restaurant is now one to avoid. Will be going next door to crema next time. Save your money and give this place a miss.

Loved it, reminded us of Melbourne cafes!

Not recommended. I definitely would not recommend the overall experience of Europa. Some of the food can be quite good, with nice entrees but the steak I had was over-cooked (despite asking for medium rare, I got well done) and the service is some of the worst I have ever experienced. Staff were often overheard complaining (including swearing) about other customers, there was also yelling at and rolling eyes at customers. Everything seemed too difficult for them. Given the prices at this restaurant, I would expect better service, although the service I experienced and witnessed here you wouldn't expect even in a cheaper restaurant. I think they rely on tourists, as they don't seem concerned about customers wanting to return. Give this one a miss.

Food & service OK $20 request for cakeage was totally unreasonable and spoiled the birthday celebrations. Won't be hurrying back.

Bad service. We went a couple of Tuesdays ago for lunch and the food was ok, but the service was really bad. The waiter was so dismissive of our requests and he spent most of his time yelling from one end of the room to the other.

Fabulous. The service was great, atmosphere was relaxed and food very nice. Well priced too.

Bad service, huge servings. Food was overall fine, but my serving of pasta was far too big!
Service was bad, so the general experience wasn't worth what we paid for it. I won't be going back and, due to the service, I left in a bad mood.

Good, hearty Italian food. Great for a mid-range price

Disappointing. Had pretty lousy food - the omelette was really overcooked, i felt like i was eating plastic! And $5.50 for a San Pellegrino Aranciata Rossa? RIPOFF!

Ok food but appalling service. We went there for lunch today and the food was ok. However the waiter was abrupt and rude, and couldn't wait to get us out of there with the bill set on our table before our drinks were done. Very disappointing service.

I’ve heard many good things about Europa at the Bay, and it was one of the few places down Jetty Road that I had yet to visit. It has a menu set out like a traditional Italian restaurant with breads, small plates, fish, meat, pasta, risotto, salads and pizza. With two other establishments that serve the same cuisine nearby, this place presents itself as being a little more upmarket.

While I’d be happy to give the restaurant part of Europa a go, next time I’m at the Bay in search of a coffee I’ll no doubt be trying a new venue …

There is plenty of seating inside and outside. It has a good menu of sophisticated Italian Food. Merkel visited one evening and was happy to find a selection of hot chocolates including classic, white, "vaniglia", tiramisu and caramel. Merkel chose the Toroncino Chocolate.
