I really love Bracegirdle's hot chocolates. They are consistently good, no matter which store I've visited. Their crepes and waffles also hit the spot. This location provides solace from the harsh Winter winds at the Bay.
I’ve been to the Bracegirdles here a few times, and I can say that they are consistent. Food and drinks- especially the chilli hot chocolate!- it consistently delicious. The wall near the front counter is covered in delectable treats, complete with a chocolate fountain and display cabinet of gourmet chocolates. My only criticisms is that the way prices are expensive, service can be variable and slow and it’s too cold. Part of the appeal of Bracegirdles is its warmth compared to Glenelg in freezing winter- would really appreciate the front door shut with a “we are open” sign and the heater cranked up as we were still shivering last night!
This little gem is the great place for a hot drink or dessert. The belgium chocolate is to die for as with the waffles- I would definitely recommend these! 😛😍
Tried Big breakfast there which wasn't really big. Yet, they've got the stylish hash brown which was good.
The in house chocolate was so delicious and you can choose the type of chocolate. You have 3 choices which are milk, dark & white chocolate to make your hot chocolate. Tried Dark and it was really "Dark".
The dessert was not bad and not too sweet.
Don't order too much with chocolate as you will be so full haha.
Had the privilege of being able to watch how Bracegirlde chocolate is made. I am impressed it is all hand made here in Adelaide. There are so many options from little bite sized chocolates to a full on scrumptious dessert. You will LOVE thier hot chocolates. Their coffee art is pretty cool too.
My love for chocolate is choconormous. Need I say more. I've always wanted to visit bracegirdle's for their amazing reviews online for chocolate. Went there on a late Saturday morning a while back to sample their hot chocolate. Taste that would want you to come back for another visit. It was cold outside which made it perfect for a hot chocolate. It was really good. The place was really crowded. It's located in a prime spot where people hang out a lot so that says it all. The staff were really sweet and always smiling.
I didn't regret my visit.
When I'm back in Adelaide next, I'll go there with no doubt!
The brownies are delicious and the coffee is good. Lots of seating and there is a great range of chocolate on offer. Would definitely return.
We were in the mood for a little chocolate so we headed down to Bracegirdle's (that name always makes me think they are an undergarment retailer).
Bracegirdle's is a cafe as well as chocolatiers, and the cafe is quite well appointed with upstairs and downstairs eating areas, including a nice balconey upstairs where we chose to sit, after we had ordered at the front counter.
I ordered the short chocolate as it was the closest thing to describing me on the menu and because I like unadulterated melted chocolate. My friends ordered a chocolate kiss (same as my short chocolate except with a strawberry) and a raspberry dark chocolate mud cake.
The short chocolate was absolutely delicious (although I do prefer Haigh's chocolate) and even though I'm not a fan of cakes, the part of the raspberry dark choc mud cake that I tasted was excellent.
A good time was had by all.
Swung in at 8pm on Saturday. four of us and I had the chile hot milk chocolate with a chocolate salted caramel tart shared with the wife. Not been to Bracegirdles before and impressed with the great range of chocolates! Nice range of cakes to accompany a hot drink on a cold saturday night. Generous serving size of the hot chocolate, and a nice tang with the chile, and the salted caramel tart had a crunchy crust and delicious chocolate filling, with cream a strawberry. Yummo! Served quite fast and reasonable price overall. Happy to come back
By far, the best hot chocolate in Adelaide! I'm pretty picky when it comes to hot chocolate - many cafes have theirs really milky and tasted like those made from store-bought chocolate powder. But here, the hot chocolate is really chocolatey - rich and satisfying. My partner and I decided that dark hot chocolate is our favourite, and we will probably be here every other day during winter.
Love this place my favourite is the pure indulgence paired with a mocha frappe, delish! Quality of the chocolate is second to none. Only negative is they don't stay open very long at night times.
Came here due to rave review from a booklet in our hotel. Our last day in Adelaide, we decided to drive back to Glenelg just to make sure we verify the claim. We are glad we did.

It was a dessert time visit on a Friday night. Seating downstairs was full hence we were offered a table upstairs. My friend had a salted caramel tart and I had the lemon tart. For hot beverages we got latte and salted caramel latte. The tarts were yum and well presented. It's a nice place for coffee and desserts. They have many dessert options so it can be hard making a selection. They do hand made chocolates too.
One of my most visited places in Adelaide. Always loved the waffles there and reasonably priced, quality is definitely on point. Love it! Except the only bad thing is that their serving sizes have gone down, otherwise I highly recommend it here!
Best latte I have had in ages. Friendly staff. Ordered a hot chocolate for my 7 yo son. The girls asked right away if I would prefer it warm rather that really hot. Great service. Will go back.

I go here for the fantastic hot chocolates. I love the dark chocolate, but my aunt swears by half dark, half milk. Their individual chocolates are lovely as well. I'm a fan!
Bracegirdles does chocolate, passable coffee, good hot chocolates, a range of sweet offerings that seem to range from extravagant to excessively decadent, a selection of fairly simple savoury things - omelettes, salad rolls, toasted sandwiches and the like - and seems to cater for a middle of the road crowd in Glenelg. If you're hip, trendy, windswept and interesting, you'll be heading to Zest, Pure or Grind It, but if it's warm cozy and sweet you want then this is it.
I have to admit to being very fond of their toast and vegemite, which sounds ridiculous in a shop devoted to sugar and cocoa, but it's very good toast and vegemite!
Love the chilli hot chocolate! I wouldn't go for coffee but it's definitely worth it for the hot chocolate. The fondue is good, too. Lots of cute chocolates - perfect for gifts.

Great chocolate brownies & lemon tart. Great spot to grab a coffee and cake, especially for chocolate lovers! The coffee is decent and they have a great selection of sweets to tempt you.
Choc-top. I don't go to Bracegirdles for the atmosphere, the staff or any other reason than their chilli hot chocolate. I have been to all 3 Bracegirdles and one thing is consistant, the chocolate. Always delicious, the chilli hot chocolate must be tried.
Now as for the other elements that make a cafe, sure the Jetty Road Glenelg branch have strange rules and staff are a little stressed, but so would you if you had to put up with the waves of wankers that stroll in. Don't like the atmosphere, get takeaway and walk down to the beach and stop whinging.
Alterenatively go to the Greenhill Rd Burnside branch if you want a nicer, less crowded venue or try the one on Main Rd McLaren Vale.
Remember ultimately it is about the chocolate, which they do VERY well.
Monk omelette & ham / cheese omelette plus 2 coffees. Both really nice fast service & fair prices. No complaints here.
There goes the diet.. Oh yea...... Breakfast for 2, omelets with salmon and other good things on the side. Just lovely, also the best coffee in a long time. Also decided to stay for another cuppa and a slice. Just loved this little shop, chocolate everywhere and smells so good.
Chocolate delight. This place is always busy, but I have managed to get a table pretty quickly. The reason why it is always busy is because it has a great menu, friendly service, and quality ingredients.
One place to check out if you're a chocolate lover down at the bay, perfect place to visit all year round.

Great for a sweet tooth. We visted Bracegirdles on a fairly busy Saturday night. The service was not as bad as expected from the previous reviews but not overly friendly either. We ordered hot chocolates which were nice but in my opinion not as nice as Lindt cafe in Melbourne or Sydney. We ordered the chocolate dip with the turkish delights, marshmallows etc. I found it a bit over the top but if you are after something really sweet then Im sure you will be satisfied.
Room to improve. Let's begin with the positives: the drinks and treats are consistently tasty and demonstrates fantastic skill of the pastry chefs.
Where to improve: the speed of the service has varied from visit to visit. The downstairs area is cozy to say the least, upstairs is roomier but feels rather drab and uninviting although the balcony has a good view of Jetty road. The staircase between floors is narrow and dangerous and I'm amazed that the staff haven't come a cropper while using it.
Certainly not a "cheap eat" but you get what you pay for.
During one visit, a loo visit needed to be made. Upon asking to use the toilets, were told by staff that there were none. Wonder where the staff go when nature calls during a seven and a half hour shift...
Try the Horchata. This is the only place I can find in Adelaide that serves horchata which is incredible and amazing and I WANT ONE NOW.
In other news, the chocolate is delicious (but then again, it is chocolate)

Decadent and divine. I have been to Bracegirdles many times over the years and each time I can't believe how delicious the hot chocolates are!
The service is always pleasant and whilst the price is on the higher side it is very much worth it. Sometimes they can take a while to bring the order out but that's only when it is busy (which is actually pretty often). It's not a bad wait there with the warm and inviting decor.
We've tried the waffles and the caramel fudge bar - both are fantastic!
As a whole I think it is absolutely fabulous and always bring visitors there to try it.
Naughty!. We shared the chocolate brownie..wow..made with their own chocolate and delish..coffee is excellent and the same price of some of the lousy coffee we have had..
So very YUMMMM..... I have been to the Glenelg and McLaren Vale Bracegirdles and they have both been fantastic. Must trys are the Belgium Waffles and the Mudslide. The Chai Lattes are also among the best.
The hot dark chocolate is the best I've ever tasted!
If you are lover of rich chocolate this the place for you. The ice chocolate was too rich for my daughter. My coffee looked great but was bland in taste. My wife said she had "had better coffee.Muffins were delicious & my other daughter loved the hot chocolate.
Nice experience. Have only ever had coffee, which has been fine. My friend and I were asked to move tables part way through our visit, to accommodate a large group of people. This was fine, however not done in a very tactful way.
Great hot choc & sticky date pudding! Slow services due to large volume of customers and ridiculouly small entrance for staff. It looks like a OHS issue.

All throughout my university days and even now when I visit Adelaide, Bracegirdles is my go-to for a decadent treat. Their chocolate is my absolute favourite when it comes to boutique chocolatiers across Australia, and I think it’s at its best in molten form. Bracegirdles also have an interesting variety of drinks. The usual hot chocolate, frappes, coffees and teas are available but one particular one caught my eye. Peanut Butter Frappe! It was crunchy peanut butter, milk, liquid Belgian Chocolate and crushed ice. Very yummy and extremely high in calories.
Stopped by for breakfast and was not disappointed. Very cozy vibes inside with ample seating. Very friendly staff. Lots of variety and options on the menu. Both dishes were made very well. Also got coffee and it was nice. The pricing is fair. Very nice street view if you can get a window seat. I would highly recommend coming here

Bracegirdles waffle was delicious! Waffle was scrumptious, strawberries super fresh, chocolate mouth watering, and such a generous serve of amazing vanilla ice cream! The iced chocolate was also delicious but we were so full we couldn't finish it all, which was a shame because it was very good. Great dessert place.
The Horchata was amaising. The bacon was the closest I have had to American bacon during my 5 years in Australia.
