Review Beach Burrito - Glenelg

Chris Ho
One of my favourite Mexican restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is pretty good. Your experience will really vary depending on what you get. Personal recommendations are the fish tacos - I have not met anyone that doesn't like them. The bowls are also quite nice - 8/10.

Jalapeño poppers were good but HOT. I mean that’s what you want, right? Haha. Fish tacos were not bad but my standards are very high for these 😂 cute little beachy shack. Good location on the strip near the beach.

Margaritas were awesome, had the fresh passionfruit and watermelon. We had lunch, everything was nice and fresh, food came out at a reasonable wait time and was nice and hot. Only negatives were the table tops were really sticky and the burrito we ordered came out wrapped in alfoil which was red hot.
Sue Southern
Margaritas were amazing. The entrees that I shared with 3 friends was tasty and enough for us all. The service was friendly and the restaurant was clean and well looked after. Great place to share some Mexican and have a jug or 2 of the cocktails.

Food - FANTASTIC! Never take those chefs for granted. They need 5 stars!! Overall this place needs a good scrub, the staff seem to have taken a back seat and perhaps the QR code to order has made customer service less of a priority? Not a fan of the QR code myself; this restaurant is meant to envision fun, latin, summer vibes in which closeness, friendliness and outward generosity is a must!!- Right? Not much of any of those things here.. like I said, food is great and this place has a wonderful concept, but not quite hitting the mark.

Great location with a decent amount of seating, I would recommend a booking to ensure you get a spot as it is quite busy. This in my opinion would be in the top 4 Mexican restaurants in Adelaide. It reminds me of the Mexican restaurants in San Diego that are a combo of authentic and chain. This is not a bad thing at all, jugs of frozen margaritas, large portions, and overall very tasty and affordable. Plenty of seating for mid to large groups, great for kids just use common sense and tell the staff to turn the spice down if the kids don't like it. The menu is comprehensive and has all the fan favourites with a few extra options. Great experience and I would recommend a visit.

Went today. Chips and burrito are delicious. The waitress is cute as well.

Great place, great food, awesome atmosphere, very very good costumer service. Me and my partner don’t drink alcohol but was made very good mock tails. While on holiday we enjoyed this place so much we went back the night after again. Jalapeño poppers 👌👌

I have never been more impressed with a restaurant than this one. Food came out lightning fast! I liked the speed and more importantly, the food was extremely delicious! I had a Chicken Quesadilla and a Chipotle Chicken Chimichanga and holy crap the food was good! Believe me when I say, the best bloody Mexican food I've ever eaten! 10/10 would definitely eat here again. Definitely, recommend you visit this place! Highly worth it.

Always delicious food and lovely staff.

Cant recommend this place for multiple reasons. Firstly - staff. I've had more enthusiasm from a mcdonalds restaurant, the blonde girl was shockingly bad. Food - bland. Mexican has certain spices that make it taste good. This place had none if those, zero flavour. Price - incredibly expensive when we got the bill. We are talking food court quality at best with 5X the price, its a tourist strip so prepare to be ripped off. Rarely do i feel cheated when eating out, but these guys managed it with an all round effort.

They got happy hours as well as good food offers.<br/>Baja fish burrito had a sweetness of burnt orange sauce, nachos were crispy and fresh.<br/>Overall good option for a good mexican food.

Got to love taco Tuesday at beach burrito. Happy hour frozen margaritas and $5 tacos. I love the fish tacos, reminds me of Hawaii. Staff need to be a bit friendly and welcoming.
Fairfoodie
Friendly staff on arrival. I ordered salad. It was fresh and exactly what was ordered. <br/>My husband was most disappointed in his Californian Burrito which was full of fries and little else. <br/>When asked about how our meals were when paying the bill, staff mocked our comments. Not nice.

came here for lunch one day. mexican is one of my favourite cuisines but this place was quite average. got the pulled pork burger and would not recommend
FirstDateSalad
Beach Burrito, was light and refreshing - perfect medicine for after a long day at the beach. The spicy fries with the jalapeño aioli dip was a highlight, and although the tacos lacked a flavour punch, they were still okay but would be much better on a Tuesday for $3.

Wanted to try this place for a while! Ordered the spring chicken burrito bowl, it came out pretty quick.. it was tasty, I think next time I’d try the tacos because they seemed to be popular!
Neat Eats
It was ok! Good spot for a group or with kids, I think the tacos might be the way to go. I had the karate chicken burrito which was fine though I did load it up with hot sauce from the table.

Disappointed. Got some beach burrito tonight with some high expectations. It’s our absolute favourite place to eat in Fitzroy (just closed down) so we were looking forward to having it here. The standard at this store was not of the Melbourne one. The burritos we had hardly had any filling and I found a long hair in my burrito. Expected more from a place with such a good reputation.

Head down on Taco Tuesday for $3 tacos all day. Make sure you order your margarita on the rocks, the best way to drink a margarita. The churros are spot on. The jalapeño poppers are the perfect way to start your meal if you like a bit of heat.

The food was really good! Highly recommend this place if your looking for good quality, affordable mexican food. I will definitely be returning.

Fantastic Lunch for Mothers Day , enjoyed the Mucho Burrito and food service awesome , Mother had a frozen margherita and I had a Sangria delicious, well done

Every Tuesday is taco Tuesday here at BEACH BURRITO! The food is faultless, quacamole is amazing and all the tacos $3 on a Tuesday and soo many fillings! Sweet potato chips with chipotle sauce is crazy good and change the burritos into a bowl it's like an edible salad bowl! So yummy!

Nothing like some Mexican food on a hot day! Great service and specials on - had the Thursday Tacos which is 2xtacos with a beer for $10, pretty good deal. Added the chillie fires along with that which was great. Only downside was they don't offer hard shell tacos which I prefer.

cozy and busy resturant on the main st behind the beach, one of the best taco i have had, very fresh salad with a good experience. Beef and fish taco are awesome, its a brlliant choice if you r tired from walking and wanna some snacks.

Love coming here to get food! Good vibes, good food, good price! What more could you want, my favourite is the Californian Burrito. Watermelon margarita is also a must 👌🏼

Good Mexican food on the mains street of Glenelg. <br/><br/>Had the fish burrito with the 'new York' upgrade (onion rings replace no beans and rice). Overall quite tasty and I wished there was more. Came with a side of corn chips. <br/><br/>Ambiance was nice and staff were attentive.

Beach Burrito is one of my favourite lunch hangouts, especially on taco Tuesday! Loads of tasty vegan/vego options for those inclined (try the chickpea tacos) and some really nice burritos with great fillings, sides and sauces. It does tend to get pretty busy after 6:30, so the service may not be as quick. But this is a great place to come during the day for a delicious and filling meal! I'm always coming back!
Josh Tolmachoff
Horrible? Delicious? Amazing? Rude? Over-priced? Delicious? Melted Cheese? Vegan Options? I'll let you decide. Sometimes Kerri Line something Kerrlinne knee Criss because no more japenos takitos. Ukno doe keeping back for more like an abusive parameter.

First day in Adelaide and lunch choice was beach burrito. Nice fit out by the beach walkway with rustic and raw interiors. Very vibrant and welcoming just like the beach. <br/>I had the pulled Pork burrito bowl which was filling and full of a mixture of flavors. The pork was tender and delicious with Mexican rice and frijoles and a fresh crisp combo of red cabbage and a spicy sauce. The burrito was the bowl in a dip fried version.<br/>I had the watermelon and apple fresh juice with a hint of mint- a great heat buster for the warm day in Adelaide. Overall a nice place

I had been meaning to try out this place for a while after all the hype it seemed to have. I have to admit, I was pretty disappointed. I ordered the pulled pork salad which came in a taco bowel. <br/><br/>Although it looked great and fulling. It liked flavour, which shouldn't happen in Mexican dishes. The taco shell was very oily an the contents inside was mainly vegetables with a bit of pulled pork which was very flavourless.<br/><br/>There are definitely better Mexican restaurants around I would go to over this place...

Great burritos, great atmosphere, and great staff. A buzzing place to have drinks with friends, with a range of imported beers and yummy cocktails.

Best Mexican food in Glenelg. Fresh healthy salads to deep fried chimichangas, this place has everyone covered. New drinks menu filled with delicious cocktails and mocktails, even fresh juices. Great place to hang out, have some good food and drinks in a great location. And the best team of friendly helpful staff you'll ever come across!

Pretty good meals at this place. The Burritos and Tacos are quite flavoursome.<br/><br/>The jalapenos poppers were rather lacklustre and need some zing.<br/><br/>Overall a decent meal, however it was more expensive than expected when you add a couple of beers.
Adrian Griffin
It looked like a pretty cool place to have a beer and burrito. Good atmosphere. It took just over an hour for our meal to arrive. It was a busy night. It would have been good to get a heads up that the meal was going to take so long. When the meal finally did arrive they gave one of us the wrong meal. Who would send it back after waiting so long?? I'm not sure that the pulled beef was correct either. It was beef but it wasn't pulled beef. <br/>I would go back for a beer but the food and service let this place down
Pizzacutter
Nice comforting meal, and easy on the pocket. Wide selection of different beers, mostly imported. Cool beach shack theme and open area outside to enjoy some tasty taquitos or delicious pulled pork tacos!

I've been here twice for a quick meal with my husband. It seems like a cool place to grab a drink with friends if you're in the 20-30 age group. We found the waiters to be friendly and attentive. It's not the best Mexican food I've ever tasted, see my other posts for better Mexican options, but the food is tasty, and the prices are pretty good. It can be noisy and a bit crazy during the evening on the weekends - not my thing, but it may be yours! Overall, worth a try. Btw - some of the cocktails are delicious!

Taco Tuesday: what a fabulous idea. I don't remember another time I could've paid $9 for a dinner.<br/>I had:<br/>fish taco<br/>It promised coriander- I got none of that though plenty of red cabbage and a cute little piece of fish. I wouldn't choose it again for the simple reason it did mostly taste of red cabbage<br/>Vegetable and tofu taco<br/>This was quite yummy. Would've liked more than 1 square of tofu because I did enjoy it<br/>Prawn taco<br/>My fav. Three juicy prawns, beans, rice, corn the works.<br/><br/>Exactly what I expected.<br/>Satisfying for a cheap tues

Thanks for the slops. Gross tasteless food. Maybe don't make your tomato salsa a week before serving it?! It made everything sloppy. Disappointing

Once again another place with more reputation than required. It was a busy night and was full of hipster friends/ folk deterring the staffs attention from their actual customers. Set out is new and funky so that was refreshing. Food was average, nothing special and took ages. Drinks were expensive and staff didn't care too much about wait times or customer service. Heard great things but unfortunately didn't step up.

Came here for lunch after hearing a lot bout this place <br/>The first thing is the menu is huge!! So many choices to choose from!<br/>We got starter nachos with chilli con carne an fries,it was so good in every way,and came out pretty quickly too<br/>We then got 4 tacos ,the chilli con carne one was amazing, full of flavour and so fresh tasting, the meat an the rice in there was kila <br/>The pulled pork was just as good also, the pork was very tender an flavoursome as was the chicken<br/>Everyone there that was eating was smiling an happy so the place gave off a really good vibe<br/>I love Mexican an will definitely come here again as there's so many other things that I'd love try ,a really cool hip place!

Great location and great menu. Absolutely loved having a Mexican feast here. There was a vast selection of food on the menu which was reasonably priced. Loved the $3 taco Tuesday, Seems like a place to be seen in Adelaide.

This was a very disappointing dining experience. Came for a late lunch (2.30pm), was kept waiting 50 minutes for just two burritos. This wasn't just us, many other tables experienced long delays. Baffling was how some tables that ordered after us got their food quite a bit earlier. Food came out in bits and pieces. Staff unapologetic for the long delays. Food itself reasonable, worth maybe a 5 minute wait at a fast food joint, no more, and definitely not worth the price. Clearly managers of this place couldn't care less. Go somewhere that takes your custom seriously. Grossly overpriced, very long delays, average food. Wish I could get that hour of my life back.

Although a casual place, it leans more to sit-down meals than takeaway with, e.g., huge tex-mex style burritos slathered in sauce. So the prices seem pretty reasonable for that (maybe not for the jalapeno poppers, which seemed expensive, but good). Although I prefer proper Mexican, this place packs a lot of flavour into its meat, which the important thing - some of the richest tex-mex I've had in Australia. With the setting, the music and the Mexican drinks, it's a good place to party.

Visited this place due to all the hype, however was disappointed. Ordered a pork burrito and a mucho fajita - both were bland with dry meat. We couldn't even finish them. The one positive was the generous serving sizes. <br/><br/>If you're looking for a relaxed afternoon drinking venue this may be a winner but if you're looking for good fast Mexican food go elsewhere.

The Beach Burrito Company boasted a bearable banquet. Initial impressions were promising, however, when I entered the restaurant I locked eyes awkwardly with a girl in an oversized jacket. This was off-putting as she was standing in my way and it was not until she said, after an awkwardly long moment of silent eye contact, ‘Table for two?’ that I realised she worked there. Relieved, I ordered the Vegy Chilli Fries and the Chipotle Chicken Burrito. I had to ask for take-away despite initial intentions to dine in due to how ridiculously cold it was inside. The heater near the front bar does nothing. <br/><br/>Food-wise I enjoyed the generosity of the chilli fries’ bean portion. Yes, I quite enjoyed the beans although they were not at all spicy and I wondered where my chilli had gone. My chipotle chicken burrito was less impressive and not for lack of flavour, rather, for its mediocre construction. Simply put there was too much rice. Yes, the chicken to rice ratio was off and compounding this disappointment was the wad of tortilla bread concentrated in the middle. Yuck, so much doughy tortilla bread, I had to pull it out. The burrito itself was a decent size so the issue is not with under filling but perhaps tortilla size. Overall, the food was adequately satisfactory; the service was fast; the restaurant was cold and the price was comparable to similar venues leading me to conclude that the Beach Burrito Company is not bad.

Very convenient place right at the beach, is alot more traditional Mexican. The serving size is huge and so if you've just been swimming or running around on the beach this is a good place if you're really hungry! Go for the burritos you wont be disapointed!
Amanda Priest
Was very disappointed with my burrito. Ordered a pulled beef and my burrito was pretty much lettuce and rice. No real flavour and very dry.

It’s a lazy Sunday, the sun is peeking out behind the clouds like a suspect man’s junk out of his oversized trench, and you feel like feastin’. At a time like this there is only one place ya’ll wanna be… THE BEACH! Beach Burrito to be more precise and man-oh-man they have everything one requires to kill a Mexican hankering of the highest degree.

Love the place. Spend pretty much every day at the Beach Burrito in Glenelg, absolutely love it! The burritos are always top notch and service is always super friendly and welcoming. Grabbing a quick lunch or a few dozen buckets of beer on a saturday night, always have the best time at the store. Just what Glenelg needed!

An Excellent Mexican Experience. My partner & I had lunch here today. A great vibe, with excellent service & food. A wide range of Tequila & wine list could do with a bit of work, by adding some medium priced Spanish & South American wines. We will definitely be back.

Perfect!. Went here with a group of 6 on a weeknight. It was busy but we got a table upstairs. <br/><br/>They have a large menu, the hardest thing was choosing something!<br/><br/>Food came out really quickly and our whole table enjoyed everything they chose. <br/><br/>Burritos are $15. Pretty good I thought!<br/><br/>Definitely will go back.

Mexican Delight. Quick service, friendly staff and the food was delicious! From their Pork Taquitos, to their delicious Quesadillas and Tacos and Burritos (they have it all)! 10/10 would recommend.

Loved it!! Just what Glenelg needed!. Food and service was great, loved the upstairs balcony overlooking jetty road

Good concept but a bit fast food like. Good menu selection on paper, lots of beers, cocktails etc. You order and pay at the counter. Staff were a bit ditzy but very friendly and welcoming - all good. Until I got the warmish Corona. You seriously can't serve just cool not cold Corona on a hot Wednesday night. All other beers were cold. The food arrived very quickly - but it all came out at once, entree nachos to share with all main courses. Nice waitress - ohh did you want the nachos first ? No concept of entree/ main , you need to order separately.<br/>The prices are getting up there so I expected a fair plate for $20 enchiladas - chicken chipotle. Nope. 2 very skinny and not even hot enchiladas were on my melamine ? or plastic plate. It was not baked, the cheese was cold and grated and not melted. Not enough filling or chicken but was very tasty. The salad around it was fresh and nice and the mexican rice was tasty. My side of mango salsa came in a little cardboard takeaway thimble - tacky. We are in a restaurant, I don't want plasticky plates and throwaway containers. All 4 of us had enchiladas and had the same experience - barely warm. The nachos were not not nice, had a weird melty meat sauce that sogged everything up. <br/>The place has a nice vibe, a bit noisy but seems quite popular. I thought perhaps I am just getting old and boring but my teenage boys liked it less than me ! just shows that the food is all important.

LOVED IT. I went to Beach Burrito for the 1st time on Sunday and loved it! The atmosphere was pumping, and the staff were great to me and my group of friends. We did have to wait a little bit for food but we just grabbed some buckets of Corona and sat back and enjoyed the vibes! When the food came out I was very happy, fresh ingredients, great color and all round great food! <br/>Id recommend Beach Burrito to ANYONE that is looking to have a rad time!

Never had to wait so long for a burrito. Seriously, over 30 minutes for a freaking burrito. They couldn't take any longer if they tried

Finally! New venues along Jetty Road. I love the Bay and love Jetty Road. The past few years thought the place has been going to pot. <br/><br/>Finally a new venue with a great vibe. It's crazy busy on Saturdays and Sundays but it's expected that there's a wait when the place is full. <br/>Reading some of these reviews, while I can't say about the kids Menu (cause I don't have any kids), the burritos are massive and only cost $15. I can barley finish one so for me that is great value. <br/>For me it's far about the vibe of the place. This place is a gem surrounded by coal (with the exception of the Mosley) Glenelg is a premier Adelaide destination, so it's expected that the price will be a little higher. <br/><br/>Lets be honest. our bill for 4 of us was like $100 including drinks. That is very good value for money! <br/><br/>Rate this place 100%.

RIP-OFF and poor quality. One of the most outrageous dining experiences I've had in Adelaide. This is simple Mexican food using cheap ingredients therefore it shouldn't be priced as if you are actually getting expensive ingredients. We ordered the kids a cheese quesadilla for $10 which was so incredibly skimpy that it would have cost 10 cents to make. It is cheese and tortilla, that is all! And there was so little cheese that it simply tasted like ONE tortilla flattened to oblivion with a little chill that the kids did not appreciate as it is a kids meal! It was shameful of Beach Burrito Company to charge $10 for this pathetic nothing of a meal. They charged the same for the kids fish and chips which was average but at least was substantial and actually cost them something to make. Our burritos were decent but would not go back as all the food was overpriced for what ingredients are used. I have many years experience In the restaurant industry and love Mexican food, this place is not worth it. The best cheap Mexican I've had in Adelaide is on Rundle St, Zambrero. Salsa's closer to the beach in Glenelg on Jetty Rd is decent and way better priced. Burritos are common Mexican food and can be really yummy , these guys are trying to charge as if they have some exotic and expensive ingredients, they don't! I wish I'd taken a photo of the pathetic quesadilla.

Disappointing. We went there for dinner last Sunday night after waiting for several weeks because it was so busy. Never again. We waited over an hour for our meals and when they eventually arrived, they were sub-standard to say the least. The fajita was very thick and doughy. You needed a magnifying glass to find the prawns. It was also stone cold and tasteless. The burrito bowl was virtually the same - cold and unappetising. My son had the kids taco which was tiny and full of lettuce - we're still looking for the chicken. Staff were pleasant but that's where it stops. Burrito company you need to lift your game especially in an area like Glenelg which is seasonal.
Jimmi
Disappointing. Looks awesome however waited well over an hour and the food was crap. I was going to write the food was average however that would probably be a compliment. The burrito was bland, cold and not worthy of $16. The chilli fries were cold and just sad. Why is the food wrapped up in foil for these prices. Looked like an authentic Mexican experience however the only thing mexican about this was being ripped off. Not going to return. Adelaide has much better Mexican restaurants on offer.
Defrizzo
Boring Burrito. The place looks good, but the burrito I had was pretty bland. I went on a Wednesday for lunch and after I had left realized that the burrito should have been a lunch special of $11.95 not $14.95, which it definitely is not worth. I hope the other dishes are better.
Nathdog
Visually the place has a great vibe. Unfortunately the food didn't fit the vibe. I expected a rustic street food experience but got my meal wrapped up in alfoil in a plastic basket. Really not what I expected for the price. The taste was average at best. Will say staff were great though.

Impressive place great food... Service and drinks

Great decor and sangria however, the food took over an hour to come out + the place smelt exactly like poo. Kind of didn't want eat after sniffing poo for over an hour.<br/><br/><br/>-----14 Jan, 2015-----<br/><br/>The place has a cool vibe, it smell like poo. I like it

Just when you thought the Mexican food trend had past, out comes the Beach Burrito Company, a franchise that already has 11 stores in the eastern states. There aren’t too many surprises on the menu with nachos, taquitos, burritos, fajitas, chimichangas, enchiladas, quesadillas and tacos.
