Outstanding dinner once again. This has to be one of the best dining experiences in Adelaide...the quality and presentation of the food is exceptional, the wine list is more than adequate and the service and hospitality is excellent. We look forward to many more fine dining experiences at Yakumi.

Extraordinary Japanese cuisine. Just the complimentary appitiser was out of this world amazing. Exceptional service and faultless main course dishes perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious. One of our favourite places to dine at Glenelg.

Must have been a bad night! Very slow service and three prawns does not a main course make! Many dishes were not available from the menu. All round a disappointing evening. The food was nice but not outstanding but acknowledge our view may have been coloured by our experience.

I lived in Japan for 6 months and ate a LOT of sushi. I can honestly say that Yukumi, Glenelg, is without a doubt, the best sushi I've ever eaten and the service and atmosphere make it a wonderful all round dining experience. I highly suggest the sushi platter.

Delicious Japanese food, almost as good as the food we ate in Japan! The Sake is also very nice. Everything was well priced and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Some nice traditional dishes and more modern stuff. Good range of side dishes. Could eat only sushi and tempura and sides and make a meal. Try the unagi (eel).

Use to eat here all the time our favourite restaurant in Adelaide. But it closed for a while. Just found out it has reopened can not wait for this Friday.

Best food in Adelaide! Has been my favourite restaurant for years. Consistently fresh, punchy flavours orchestrated by a master. I tell everyone about this place! You must go. Order the tempura salmon and the soft shell crab cold rolls...delicious!

I love the sushi ! The sushi is delicate and yummy ! My favourite place to eat sushi in Adelaide for sure

Dined here on impulse for Japanese, without any recommendation, and we were exceptionally pleased with our choice. Excellent food at good prices. Why do a generic sushi train experience when you can have this!

Best Japanese in the world! Definitely somewhere worth to go in ADELAIDE

Would definitely recommend their Agedashi Tofu & Salmon Steak, I’ve been here twice on my birthday and I don’t ever regret dining there! Such a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and the food is so delicious!

Food was excellent and the waitress was lovely. The flame sushi was delicious and the tempura scallops are a must! Scallops flame with truffle were so magical I had 3!

My go to place for japanese - its a fusion style with a taste ive never experienced before. The sushi is gorgeous, their gyoza some of the best ive had in adelaide (can tell theyre home made and the sauce is 👌). The warm soba noodles is my favourite main course, tea smoked salmon, truffle soba noodles, onion tomato and pickled ginger - so unique and delicous. My friend loves the scallops, theyre a close second for me :p
Also the miso soup is homemade, its the best so if youre a miso fan be sure to order some!

Fabulous Japanese-fusion style cuisine with creative flavours. Always delicious, always beautifully presented. We love dining at Yakumi Glenelg.

OVER PRICED AND UNDERCOOKED. Now let's get this straight. I know that most sushi is raw BUT the male chef wearing a cap had cooked us prawn and pork gyoza. Let's just say the pork was still snorting. It was so raw. When we went up the the chef he didn't seem overly bothered and concerned then made us a new one. New one was burnt oh well. My husband ate a full raw one not realising it was still raw. Poor guy had diarrhea for a week. I will not be returning and Il make sure I tell everyone. Also sushi wasn't anything special. For what it was it was waaaaaay over priced

Came here for my birthday with my family. We had a delicious starter which was very fresh and tasty. I ordered the sushi and sashimi boat and that was great too. Service was average but the food was pretty good.

Quite a few dishes that weren't traditionally Japanese, but that caters for the more conservative diner.
Naturally, I went for something that was, and had a very delicious sushi and sashimi boat! Started off with miso and gyoza, as every Japanese meal should!
And just had enough room to fit in one of their lovely desserts, which are made completely in house.
Impeccable service and typical friendly Japanese hospitality.
Convenient, great food and outstanding customer service! The thing I love most about this restaurant is that you can order from the Yakumi kitchen (Japanese) and the Spices kitchen (Thai) simultaneously. The Japanese food is presented beautifully and the staff are very attentive. Your glass will never be empty and there's always a staff member close by to assist. If you're all about desserts, then you'll probably be disappointed. Overall, I am a big fan of this kitchen and recommend it - especially for date nights.

Excellent. The food at Yakumi is always fresh - and it feels authentic. Staff are friendly. Atmosphere is nice. Have never had a problem at this restaurant. Would recommend for an interesting night out.

This has long been my favourite Japanese restaurant in Adelaide, probably anywhere actually! It is the freshest, most flavoursome sushi and Japanese I've found. Last night I was thrown a surprise birthday dinner there by my beautiful man and had a table of 20. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Our drinks were topped up continually, the food came out fast and delicious and all the staff were so friendly and accommodating. They actually made the night that much more enjoyable just because they were all so lovely! I'm hoping they read this so I can thank them again, chefs, kitchen staff and waiters. It was a wonderful evening! My only criticism, and this is nit picking, is that two people had the chicken and said it was quite dry. But that is the only thing I could fault all evening! Thank you Yakumi for an awesome evening!

Good Fusion Japanese food!. One of the restuarants that serve very good Japanese food in Adelaide! The waitress (and maybe chef) might not be Japanese, and you might not get a Japanese atmosphere from this restuarant, but they serve pretty damn good Japanese food. We had heaps of food for two, and those that stood out were: the soft shell crab that comes as almost like a rice paper roll - party in my mouth!, yakumi rolls, and the roasted eggplant dish. Word of advice, the dishes were on the larger size, don't order too much if there are only two of you.

Yakumi is by far my favourite restaurant in glenelg! The food is devine, fresh and well presented. Service is attentive! Love it here!!!

Refreshing!. The menu is monstrous - in a good way, heaps to choose from and as its combined with another restaurant, Spices, you're sure to find something that will tickle your fancy. The sushi is well presented and mains are generous - very tasty. the sashimi platter is beautiful and their rice portions are big. I'm certainly keen to go back and try more sushi!

Have been a couple if times now, brilliant! Great food and excellent service, Thankyou!
Disappointed
Disturbingly bad service and sadly average food. We went to this restaurant for my friend's birthday. There were 8 of us and in order to secure the booking she was required to pay a deposit. We arrived and ordered a bottle of sake and she brought out this massive bottle. My friend asked her if we could take it home if we didn't finish it and the waitress said yes but when it was time to leave another waiter then told us that we couldn't do that, we mentioned the waitress's earlier promise to him and he brought out the bottle, slammed it on the table, threw down a bag and stomped off!!!
It took them ages to take our order, not all of the food we ordered arrived and our mains took nearly an hour. One person at our table didn't get her meal until we had all finished with ours.
Overall, i would say this was a horrible experience. The service was atrocious and the food was not that special for the price tag. We were not the only table who had to wait ages, another customer had waited so long they started to yell at the waiters.

Loved it!! I didn't really like Japanese food until I ate here! I loved all off the entrees we had to share on the table ( 5 different ones) then the main was great too! I tried abit of everyone else's also and thought they were fantastic! The service was abit lacking but the food definitely made up for it! Looking forward to the next time I eat there!

Dined in august 2011 on busy Friday night. The service was average. It took 1 hour for our mains to be served and they served a tuna variation when a beef version was ordered. The restaurant was recommended to us (2 adults) but I would not recommend dining here. To make matters worse they ran out of asahi beer after the first one.

Major let down. Expects each customer to pay 35$ minimum! that is unexpectedly expensive for anyone esp us students. the wait time for the food was heaps long (40 mins+ ) . the online menu was priced differently to the ones in the restaurant. :/ when the food came it was just of mediocre quantity and the food didn't taste like its worth the money . some of the dishes we ordered were too salty and not edible . :( but they waived off the bill for that particular dish . anyways, its only a once in a life time thing that we will come here and will never return again! :D they had good customer service tho.
I Don't Like Yakumi Adelaide
Will never go again. Food was of low standard, long waiting time and there is a minimum spend of $35! Not worth the price. This is the worse place for japanese food. Food was really salty! If you want to try out japanese food, go Wasai in Chinatown instead.
Susie
Excellent food and great service. Best Japanese I've had. However there was a bizarre $35 minimum spend per head, which was a sour note and a bit of a let down. Not a cheap feed but quality product.

Yakumi. Never have we had such bad service. Third table seated at 7 p.m. Friday (10 June 2011) - we had our order taken, wine and sparkling water provided, then nothing for 40 minutes. Tables around us filled, orders were taken, food was provided. Nothing arrived for us. My partner asked the waitress about our order - she went to the kitchen and didn't return to our table. After another 10 minutes he went over to speak with her near the kitchen and told her we were leaving and were very disappointed with the lack of service. She and her colleagues were emotionless and unapologetic. Having only good previous experiences at this restaurant we are still non-plussed at our treatment and the attitude displayed by the staff.

Our favorite restaurant! Have been going to yakumi's for over 6 years and are always delighted and impressed by the chefs creations. Food that makes your taste buds tingle with delight. Our favorite way to enjoy is with a number of entrees and mains to share. We can't get enough of this little gem!

Mixed Opinion. The first time that i went here it was on the recommendation from friends that it was 'clean food'. Totally confused about what that meant at the time i tried it anyway.

It was exactly that "clean". It was simple flavours that were light and delicious without being heavy or greasy.

I had the tuna main and some sushimi to start and was very impressed.

I titled this as mixed opinion as i went back a second time and didn't get the same lift from the food as i did the first time.

I definitely think it is worth a go for something special on Jetty Road.

This just isn’t very nice. It’s not particularly sweet, and the sesame taste is unusual. What’s far worse is the texture. The ice cream is full of ground up sesame seeds of various piece sizes. This isn’t a light texture. This thing is at least a third sesame. I’m expecting to find Big Bird in here. The mixed berries sauce is like a runny jam, which is too minimal and subtle, and doesn’t go with the sesame taste anyway.

Yakumi, a tiny Japanese restaurant on Jetty Road, Glenelg has been something of a favourite venue amongst my extended family for quite some time. So much so that my uncle and aunt actually booked out the whole restaurant for my cousin’s 21st birthday.
