Review Spices Glenelg - Glenelg

Waited an hr after which asked where was our meal. She came out with takeaway. I said we have been having drinks. Long soey short still runaround with our order n food. Will never go there again. Others on same night were treated the same. Some waited awhile and left. Food wasn't good either

Ordered the yellow chicken curry. It was served almost cold. Yes they replaced it but the service by the waitress was a lot to be desired. It doesn’t hurt to smile and be courteous. Or apologise for the meal being cold.

I have a feeling that the ownership and chefs have changed. I have been a regular here for nearly 20 years. The food has always been amazing, however I feel it has slipped a little. But no fear it is still quite amazing.

I ordered the glenelg spice fried rice which was their “special kind of fried rice”. The rice was cold and they were sweet as hell. I laughed so hard after eating my first spoon. I asked for a chilli sauce or soy sauce. They have me fresh cut chilli to mix in rice and that chilli would literally burst me off. And then the waitress got me soy sauce after 15 mins. We ordered 2 kinds of starters- took them 40 mins to get them. We were a table of four- each person’s main course meal came late, and that too at seperate timings. Horrible food and horrible service. Sorry very disappointed wouldnt recommended it at all.

Good food, friendly helpful staff, good facilities. Limited parking but thats the same anywhere along Jetty Road. Highly recommended.

Great selection of very authentic Asian cuisine, excellent choice of delicious, flavoursome dishes, and wonderful customer service, the staff are very friendly, helpful and polite. Definitely one of my favourite places to eat in or take out. Highly recommend Glenelg Spices.

This was a main size sizzling mongolian beef. 7 small pieces of beef did not make it a main. Very disappointed, it had been a favourite for years. Maybe its changed hands

Sorry to the other restaurant in glenelg that had spices in its name. I accidentally booked you instead of this place. Luckily enough this place was as dead as a door nail on a sleepy Tuesday night and could fit in a large group of us no worries. Promptly greeted and drinks poured, we ordered our entrees. I mean they came out in a strange order but hey they all tasted bang on. My favourite entree was the chicken larp. Hot. Spicy. Fresh. Judy dench. 10/10 imo. I had a pud Thai for mains and I give it an 8/10. A little light on the chicken and shrimp but they had a pretty good go at this nonetheless. Now they forgot one of the entrees and we didn't receive it until after our mains, but I guess everyone makes mistakes. I mean a large group just came into their shop like a wrecking ball, they just wanted to let us in so I can't blame them. Overall for a tiny little shop they served up some delicious food reasonably well. I'd say give it a go.

No words describe how bad the meal was. Glenelg Spices Fried Rice, supposedly 'special ', was clumps of soggy rice warmed up in old oil that made your mouth feel strange and served with surprisingly large amounts of sliced carrot (a new feature of Asian cuisine..?). Singapore Noodles were a mean dry little dish with, again, generous amounts of sliced carrot. Sizzling Garlic Prawns tasted like the poor old prawns had been injected with water to freshen them up, it's a shame they didn't think of providing some flavour, but perhaps that was overwhelmed by the, yes, copious amount of that mainstay of the Orient, the sliced carrot. It's the kind of restaurant that one talks about over and over afterwards... And perhaps, to be fair, I should return one day when carrots aren't on special at the market.

Terrible. Tiny servings for the price point. $12 per bottle BYO is robbery! Ordered massaman beef which was ordinary - dry and chewy without much flavour. Green curry chicken was a real disappointment - almost inedible looking chicken and watery, flavourless sauce...wish we'd gone to one of the other surrounding Thai restaurants. Only positive was the staff who were pleasant and polite.

Used to be really good, it's just gone downhill the past year or so, if you feel like dirty food you could probably still go for it, I just find it's not as light and fresh as it used to be

Great service and the starters were amazing , we had Thai crab cakes prawn spring rolls and curry puffs to start they were great then we had Thai green curry and barramundi Choo Chee the curries were excellent, great night out highly recommend giving it a go and I forgot to mention its in the entertainment book

Laksa was so bad I never want to spend any money here again. I'm sure other dishes are good but it was just so bad, very poor excuse for a laksa. No Veges, wrong flavour, no herbs... It was bad

Not outstanding. The entrees are better than the main dishes. Our laksa was so bad last visit that we tried it and then pushed it to one side. We felt annoyed that we'd wasted our hard earned cash on it, especially since we could have made better laksa at home. Generally, the curry dishes are quite plain and nothing mind blowing. In contrast, it must be noted that the service is excellent and the restaurant is always spotless. Will I go there again? Yes, just because I know that I can order a mix of entrees from two kitchens at the same time: Spices and Yakumi (Japanese).

WORST LAKSA I HAVE EVER BOUGHT. Have to say bought because I couldn't eat it. The prawns were small and no tails. Probably frozen $5.99kg. The chicken it was over cooked an dry. And the supposed hero of the dish, the soup was disgusting. I tasted like it was seasoned with the packets out of a 79cent packet of 2 minute noodles. After paying $18.50 which is on any level expensive for laksa you do expect it to taste awesome. I should of just gone to Coles and bought the 79cent noodles. It would of been the same experience although the 2 min noodle I suspect would of been taster.

Won't be back. Average food and service and they couldn't supply a dish and drinks we'd ordered because they'd run out- they are situated in a strip with supermarkets, butchers and bottle shops to name a few how can you run out???? very poor.

Worst restaurant in glenelg. Service was bad with inexperienced staff, food was bland and full of oil...

Should have walked out. My family and I went there as a farewell/birthday dinner last night. I have to say it was one of the worst restaurants I've been to in a long long time. When we arrived there was no acknowledgment at the door, after 5min had past we just sat ourselves down. So much for the reservation we made there. Another 15 min had past and there was still no waitress in sight. After we managed to flag one down, we placed our drinks order and food order. 20min later I still didn't have my drink. Flagged them down once again and replaced my order. 5 min later it arrived. Oh and the food hadn't even showed up yet. Yes that's right half an hour had past with no sight of the food even about to show. So we waited, and waited and waited and we waited some more. About 90min had passed with 3 complaints as to where was our food and it finally showed up. I have to say they did opologize and removed the BYO corkage from the bill. WHICH WAS $12!!!! Talk about over charge, so yay thanks for nothing. The food itself was ok. Nothing to draw you back. My advise is go somewhere with better service better food and maybe a restaurant that isn't running 3 restaurants with 1 kitchen. All I can say to them is lift up your game Glenelg Spices Adelaide isn't lacking for choice when it come down to good food.

Very nice food and wine. Could enjoy a conversation at the table. Not too much noise. Would recommend.

Dissapointed. The food was very oily and lacked ingredients other than rice and noodles.
we will NOT be returning to this restaurant

We absolutely LOVE this restaurant! We went for the first time the other night, and we will definitely be back. The food was amazing (we ate mainly from the Japanese menu- but the honey chicken is the best we have ever tasted) the service was excellent and the staff were lovely. Can't wait to go back!
Veronica
Very disappointed! No drinks were served, meals were very bland. No real service. I actually don't think the waitress spoke English or understood us. Never again!
I will be sticking with Indochine down the road!

Just went back since they renovated. Now they are a fusion of Thai,Malay and Japanese with their linked yakumi restaurant next door. The food has always been good, but they have stepped it up with a modern dining experience. I love the new grilled quail.

Pretty good Thai! Not too bad value wise and taste wise. Korean BBQ at the back is actually amazing though.

Fabulous laksa!. Im always nervous to try laksa as if its not made very well, its pretty obvious. Im pleased to report that their laksa was delicious, creamy and spicy with fresh ingredients, the combination laksa is devine!

their roti chennai is always good too with curry sauce and you can count on the curry duck being good also.

Thumbs Up. I have been coming to Glenelg Spices for over 10 years and the staff are always friendly, the meals authentic and delicious. There is always so much to choose from - Thai, Malaysian and now the new Korean BBQ. The prices have remained reasonable. Thumbs up

As someone who constantly walks past this place, I’ve always been confused as to the actual setup of this place. To answer your questions, it’s three restaurants under the one roof.
