Review Burger It - Glenelg

Mike Gainer
Great produce and buns and the meet was tasty, but the pictures showed 5-7cm thick patties. Mine was about 1cm thick. If after a fat juicy American style burger go elsewhere. The sweet potatoes were good and it sounds like they do have good veggies burgers. Would have given it 3.5 if given halfs not bad but not great.

Not very impressed at all. $14.90 for a burger with the lot, and that price is without chips or a drink. I thought I would give it a go, expecting something amazing . The pineapple tastes like a very cheap can import, the beetroot tastes the same. I don't rate the mince meat. The plastic cheese was rubber. I describe the burger bar as a novelty, a place you go to once and never go back. My local takeaway bar sells a burger with the lot for $7.90 and all the ingredients taste better. The shop has a very nice paint job which attracts you to it, but I am not there to eat the paint on the wall. I have never seen more then 2 customers in the shop.

The burgers are decent and the prices are not very expensive. There is lots of variety in the types of burgers available. The preparation time is more than what is normally expected however it does seem that the establishment uses fresh ingredients. The meat is also halal. Overall a very decent burger joint, I would recommend to visit at least once.

Awful. - Burgers are far overpriced for what you actually get, both in terms of toppings and overall taste - It took 30 minutes for our food to be made (2 burgers and chips) - The 1 member of staff working the whole place was rude - Chips cost $3 and you LITERALLY get a single handful of chips Don't eat here. Save your time, save your money and go to one of the many other boutique burger joints.

I went here by accident on Wednesday night when I was looking for an affordable and quick place to eat before I went to my appointment in Margaret Street. I had previously gone to a pizza restaurant in Tynte Street but decided not to eat there as I was advised that there would be a twenty minute wait and the cheapest meal I could get would start from $15. I didn't want to pay that much and wait that long as I had an appointment I needed to be at within the hour and I didn't want to rush my meal. So I decided against eating there and walked around the corner to O'Connell Street where I found Burger It. I was pleasantly surprised to see vegan and vegetarian burgers on the menu. The man who served me said my burger would be ready in ten minutes. He told me he can veganise the burger I chose ($9.50) by omitting the mayonnaise and replacing it with a plum sauce. I chose Pump & Grind It because I liked the ingredients of the patty, which was pumpkin, cashew, carrot and ginger. The man who made it brought it to my table and even gave me a napkin. The burger was delicious although the flavours didn't come through that well, but I know it was healthy and cruelty free. Improvements to be made could be cutting the burger in half for ease of eating it, better presentation and supplying bigger napkins.

Tasty burgers and reasonable value for money.

Very tasty Burgers well done guys. If you want a really tasty burger go and buy one you won't regret it. Keep up the good work common guys support them please.

Just went here. Where do i start. 1 - Burger was very average and undercooked 2 - 25 Minute wait 3 - Had dine in and they didn't even bring the burgers to us we had to get them from the front counter 4 - Chips were overcooked 5 - Service was very poor I would AVOID this place and go to the strathmore - $12 gets you a good burger, chips and a soft drink with friendly staff

So disappointed!
- the beef burger (Mexican it) was below average. The bun was too dry, and the beef was not juicy.
- the angus beef steak burger taste really so so. The beef steak over cooked again.
- the chips over cooked, dark colour and smell like burned.
Do not recommend to any burger lover.

The only nice thing I can say is that the guy behind the counter was nice.

Burger fell apart on first bite, chips were crappy and not properly cooked from frozen.

You get a better burger from a Chicken Shop at half the price. Don't even bother.
Poppie
Pass mark. Poppy had the Special Chicken Tikka Curry Burger to try something different. It wasn't bad but it wasn't spectacular. It was nice to eat something a tad different though. Prices are reasonable. Poppy probably wont be back unfortunately, not when there's Burgastronomy & Lucky Lupita's also on O'Connell St.

Ordered the Cheese and Pickle It burger, chips and a drink. Wasn't advised of the $4 meal deal and was charged separately costing more obviously. First bite into the burger and a avalanche of runny mayo flows out onto the plate. Burger was average, chips so salty. Do youself a favour and walk 5 minutes either way down the street for a far better burger.

My boyfriend & I went here on the weekend for dinner, he got two burgers which he enjoyed and I ordered the Aloo Gobi Kebab Burger, and it was soo good! I ordered the vegan version with a gluten free bun. The gluten free bun didn't even look like a typical gluten free burger bun, it was the best I've had. And the burger patty itself was super tasy as well.Could have done with a bit more salad on it though (eg. carrot)The eating area itself though is quite average and small. Other burger places are much better presented and have better seating.

I've had food from here delivered twice now and both times haven't been very impressed at all. I ordered two of the Pump and Grind It burgers and a side of chips. Both times it has taken about an hour and half to arrive and has been cold and soggy. Even though I've ticked "no red onion" in the options, they always comes with onion and I also think that if I'm paying an extra $1.50 per burger for avocado, I would at least expect a few slices, not a barely visible light handed "spread". Not sure what it is, but something with the flavours is also a little off and doesn't quite work together. It's not worth the money.
I also wasn't particularly impressed when I had to have it delivered to the hospital and the delivery guy asked why I was there and what was wrong with me. My personal health problems are not exactly something I want to discuss with a complete stranger and found it incredibly uncomfortable and unprofessional.
Overall I'm not happy and definitely won't be ordering from here again.

Disappointing!. I was a bit lazy, so arranged a delivery for boys and myself. The burgers was a bit sloppy and warm-cold, chips tasted worse due to being cold and cooked in old oil. I say if you can't keep the food hot and fresh then delivery should not be an option!

Solid choice. Don't know why Burger It has such mixed reviews, maybe bad past owners, maybe I've had good luck with who I get behind the counter each time. I feel it is the better burger joint around O'Connell, I'd rate it much higher than very disappointing but popular Chuck Wagon and Burgastronomy. Chips are consistent, burgers such as tikka and satay aren't just drenched in sauce. Solid. Not mind-blowing, but I have found them to be consistently good and reliable.

Loved it!. My daughter and I regularly come here, the food is fresh and tasty and something to suit all ages and taste.

Low key the food is the star .

Terrible. Bought a scoopon for a burger, chips, drink and dipping sauce. Got there - ordered ( BBQ beef it) and was told it would be a 45 minute wait. I specified that I wanted no onions on both burgers. So we came back about 40 mins later and received out food. We walked back to our car to tuck in. Took first bite of the burger and was instantly disappointed. Not only did the meat taste like a generic frozen store bought patty, there was also onion on it. The chips were over cooked and dry. Safe to say - wouldn't go back again.

Not bad.. Not your usual hipster flash modern typical burger bar.
Lucky to get some seats outside. The food was good but the staff seemed short tempered and easily stressed.
happy to go back and try another dish :)

Extremely poor service, food is sub-average, customer service lacking

food was late, when it did arrive, the burgers were below what one would expect in the tight Adelaide market. Had issues with the food and owner was dismissive and rude, became confrontational. My experience left me disappointed and the owner subsequently came outside to continue the argument, very unprofessional. I rarely post on these sites but my horrid experience led me to this post.

will be recommending friends to avoid and instead visit the many other great burger establishes this town has to offer.

The owner needs to clean up his operation and value his customers more.
Captainveganx
Good vegan burger. Good stuff, we come here regularly. They have nice gluten free buns too.

Vegan burger is good value
Maz
Average experience. Stopped in for takeaway the other night and ordered the 'It's All Beef' and 'Chicken Tikka' burgers, fries and shakes. They estimated a 15-minute wait which was more like half an hour but we figured if the burgers were good that wouldn't matter. Our fries were overcooked - judging by the raucous sizzling sound, they had the oil temp too high. My beef burger pattie was dry and the bun itself was too dense and only lightly toasted (still room temp in the middle). Too stingy on the mayo and avocado so overall it was dry and I ended up only eating half the bun. The chicken burger didn't live up to its reputation - the chicken was gristly. The butterscotch shake was way too sweet and although the vanilla one was nice, it was nothing special. Really wanted to like this place but there are much better options for burgers or otherwise on O'Connell St. Apparently the vegetarian burgers are better. If you're going to try this place, use the Entertainment book voucher to get one burger free when you buy another.

Poor service, poor food! Do not bother - there are so many better great burger places now in Adelaide. This was a great place when it 1st opened. What happened?

Burn it with beef had little sauce and cheese and pickle it had no pickles. Both burgers had the end piece of tomato that simply slides off the bottom.

We sat down inside on 40deg day as it was cool inside. When we got our burgers the A/C was turned off!

Need I say more....

3/10

Great burger joint, fantastic burger flavours, definately check out for delicious take away food, enjoy...

Rubbish. Don't bother with these pork free burgers. Service is slow and the burgers are over priced and blah.

A little disappointed... Bun was very stale, meat was overlooked and chips were undercooked. With so many other great burger places around, I won't be coming back here.

Love this place! Burgers are always fresh, great flavours, plenty of vego options as well and always open late. Friendly, quick service too.

Best Burgers in Adelaide. Get into this great Burger shop, new owners have really made this into one of the best burger places in Adelaide. I was blown away at how good my burger tasted and it wont take long for word to spread about how good this place is now. 5 stars from me...cant wait to go back.

Great Burgers, Friendly Staff. I have been to Burger It under it's new management and also under the old. I definitely find the new management to be much friendlier
I really enjoy the burgers from here - very fresh and they taste delicious.
Serving size is generous, chips are delicious and the menu is extensive.
Waiting time is probably around 10/15 mins during lunch time - that said, the food is fresh and the chips are hot because everything is made then and there, not sitting around for ages or being re-heated.
This is a common place for my workmates and I to go to during the week for lunch and that's not likely to stop any time soon!
Nancy
Awesome experience, great staff, superb meals, loved it, will definately recommend, Burgers and chips are too good, a lot of positive changes with the new Management...

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Just went here. Service sucks! Staff very arrogant. Wanted to use voucher which could let u redeem up to $14 but the lamb one was again unavailable as one other reviewer has commented. Horrible! dont come here, Adelaide has so many better burger places!

Bad Service. Guys recently ownership of the business has changed last week . I was the regular customer of this place. so many changes come up on taste . its not like that before.
Sorry new owner.
I would recommend Fancey Burger at CBD rundle mall rather then this place.

Had the Mexican burger last night - super tasty. Really nice jalapeño relish and quality beef. Fries were really nice - right amount of salt and crunch for me. Will definitely go back next time in town!

Bean Spiced. Fantastic burgers (try the "Its bean spiced" if you're vegan) but absolutely awful customer service unfortunately... We keep going back anyway because the food is so good.

Sweet sweet potato! Quick takeaway burgers are something vegos mostly dream about but this place not only delivers on options, but serves graciously on taste. Sweet potato and haloumi burger was just devine. See you again soon burger it

I liked the first burger so much I came back the next day. Excellent - perfectly toasted bun and perfectly cooked meat.
Rhonda
Terrible. Average burger and greasy chips. Scoopon offer said any burger up to $14 but when I produced my voucher to the assistant he said the $14 burger (Lamb) was not available. Coincidence???
I Eat Adelaide
Not what it used to be. This used to be a favourite of mine but not any more - my burger was so bad that I threw mine in the rubbish bin and opted for a home made omelette. I will never go back
Andie
Burger It.... Loved It!. I went to Burger It on the weekend with my husband and we loved it. Great friendly quick service and the burgers tasted great. My husband and I enjoyed the mexican burger and the chicken tikka burger - delicious. The chocolate milkshake was a winner too. We will definately be back. This place is heaps better than Burger Theory in my opinion.

Used to be fantastic, not anymore. Soggy lukewarm burgers and pretty average chips. This ranks way down low with hungry jacks now. We used a loving social deal that included two burgers, chips and two milkshakes; we were refused the milkshakes. If you want a subpar, tasteless burger, then this is the place for you.
Helmkeep
Disapointing for a sign that screams ( we specialise in burgers ). They dont hit the mark. Few chips greasy burger expencive coke. Take $ 15 bucks and drop it in a boat. U will get moe back
Alex
Disappointed by the fast food quality at gourmet prices. Chips were undercooked, some still cold from the fridge or freezer. Beef patty was small thin dry and underwhelming. Only flavour of the satay burger was the sweet sauce, not bad but perhaps not dissimilar to a simmer sauce from the supermarket.
If you are dying for a burger and happy to part with $8-9 then go for it. Don't go for the ambience though, there's none.
Onegreedygirl
Need to try again. I went here under the old management and loved it - great vegie burgers (at least 3 veg options!!)

Haven't been there since new owners took over so I shall re-review when I have!

Disappointing Burger. Stale bun and very average meat pattie, no flavour. A very disappointing experience for all four of us who ordered take away. Chips were not enjoyable either.
John Carver
Much better before it changed owners. Now it's average at best. Such is the way of the magical burger.
Bubba
Use to be the best burger joint in town. Seems to have changed hands now bun was stale salad seemed small and the chips tasted like the oil in the fryer hadn't been changed in a while. Anyone know to now go for a great burger??? Burger theory
Clandestine
Nothing u could not make at home and u could probably make it better, just a stranded fish and chip shop burger not worth $9.10 for a crap Woolies bun, iceberg lettuce and tin beetroot. Patty was heavy and not very nice. For a place that just sells burgers they need to lift there game
Ben
Reasonable. It's a decent place to get a bite to eat. Burgers are probably a little on the expensive side and it does take about 10-15 minutes to get your order but they're cooked fresh and taste good.
Foodie
Meh. My house mate absolutely loves this place and eats there at least once a week... I on the other hand do not understand the appeal.

All I can say is don't get the fish burger... it was one of the grossest things I've ever tasted and didn't get through much of it, even though it sucks because it's not a cheap place! My house mate typically gets chicken, maybe that's better? My boyfriend tried the beef and it was okay, but nothing special at all.

I think if they were half they price, they'd be a good value, but overall they are overpriced average burgers with bland chips to go with (if you pay extra for chips)...
Shannon McAvoy
Burger yuck. Received a coupon for them and thought we should have a try as were have been meaning to go there for quite some time. The voucher said for a gourmet burger with chips and it was anything but gourmet. The flavour combination of fish (which tasted and felt like frozen fish) with an olive tapenade is just wrong and the chips tasted like reheated mccain chips from the supermarket. That will be the last time i eat there would prefer a pub burger.

Poor. Burger It was formerly one of SA's best burger joints but sadly this is no longer the case. Tonight (7 August 2010) I ordered BBQ Beef It & chips take away. There was a crowd & it seemed guy serving knew most of attending (family/friends?). Anyway to my surprise shortly after ordering he presented my food "it is quick tonight" When home I discovered re-heated chips & burger. I am not going back.

Burger It has been around for several years now and it’s had a lot of mixed reviews. As it was a burger place that I had yet to conquer, it was time to put their “seriously good burgers” to the test.
Date Nights Adelaide
It's a pretty small place with a bench with stools along one wall for those singles just stopping in and some tables against the other wall. It's like a takeaway trying to be a dine in.
Feed Me, Adelaide
I am conflicted about Burger It. Overall my experience was not anything to write home about, especially given the value score. If I had paid between $6 and $8 for what I got, things may have very well been looking up, but the bottom line is that the burger doesn’t really reflect the restaurant tag line of ‘Seriously Good Burgers’.
