Although it was busy, the gringos staff member was professional and friendly and my takeaway took just 20mins. The nachos was exactly what we hoped for and our burritos excellent. Plenty of food to go around. We will be back!

Haven't been here for years, but came in on Saturday night. Service was friendly and super quick, lucky for us we were able to get a table on a warm night! Sangria was delicious, will be trying the frozen margarita next time! Nachos were amazing, perfect appetiser to share and plenty of toppings, the way it should be!!
The pulled beef burrito was delicious, meat was tender and flavoursome! Chicken enchilada was tasty and filling as well! Side salad was fresh and the lime rice was full of flavour! No one left hungry which is always a win!

Being a self proclaimed Mexican connoisseur I had to try out the hyped Gringos...
The hype was real.
Situated on a prime part of Jetty road (overlooking a great sunset) myself and two friends walked in on a busy Saturday night and immediately spoke with a lovely girl named May who sorted out a table for us. We ordered at the bar, which was seamless.
First came the Entree of the large Nachos to share and was out within 5-10 minutes, the serve was more than decent and definitely got us excited for the Mains! We really liked the presentaion... not to mention our Sangria flew out of the bar into our mouths within minutes and tasted as authentic as they come, very impressed.
For the Main I had the Enchiladas and rated them a full 5 stars. Wicked flavour and size. I especially liked the taste of the Salsa, so fresh.
The whole place had a great vibe and even had a good laugh with a table next to us, which I attribute to the ambience created by the New Management.
I just want to mention the service and say that It was a pleasure dining in your restaurant due to your staff being so attentive and helpful.
Will we return? with out a doubt. But next time with more people!
Love this place - very authentic Mexican cuisine. The menu offers a wide range of traditional Mexican dishes. Service isn't quite inviting and welcoming upon arrival, however staff are helpful when asked. Meals did not take long to receive either and are very tasty and filling. Have/would return!
Yum!. The food is great and the sangria is amazing!
Consistently a good place to eat Mexican food but it is very noisy:
(1) The wooden chairs scrape on the polished cement floor every time someone moves, which is really loud and very disruptive...
(2) The music is always too loud...

Food fantastic, this is a cantina, not a restaurant, enjoy the ambiance, talk with friends, have a beer and enjoy one of the best Mexican meals outside of Mexico!
Gringos Mexican cantina is always the best place to head to down bay. Whenever I go there, service is alright, the food is maginificant and it's my favourtie place. I try going there at least once a month but if I could I would have it every night :) even though the reviews are mainly ordinary doesn't bother me!
We had the chicken enchilada and dips, service was a bit miserable and we waited over an hour for the meal, but the food was enjoyable and fresh - maybe because we were so darn hungry by the time it arrived?!
Good Food Good Pricing. I got invited to Gringo's On Sat the 4th by a friend and read the reviews expecting rubbish and being at Glenelg for it to be overpriced rubbish.
We went with an open mind and got a great meal for a reasonable price, given what you get for what you spend the only complaint I have is that the service wasn't zippy, though the place was packed.
Less than $20 for a main that was a large main with good flavour is spot on value in my books.
Had nachos for entrée, it was ok but probably wouldn't order it again as it is pretty large and we did share with 4 people. for 2 people it would be too much.
Loved it. I was dubious about going to Gringos given the reviews but we loved it! We are vegan and asked what they could do - the staff were SO helpful in catering to our needs, and the food was delicious. So much so that I have been wanting to go back already, only 3 days later.
I really appreciated their helpful attitude. And enjoyed our spread of food!
Ordered nachos and a Hussong's Combo (burrito and taco, both chicken) with a carafe of sangria. Quite nice but too many tortilla chips and not enough topping and salsa could do with some Chilli. Struggled with the big serve of burrito and taco and should've had the taco first as it became soggy. Sangria also wasn't too bad. Waiter looked a little frazzled, I'm assuming because the table numbers are given when ordered as opposed to set table numbers, guessing its because they have some communal tables. Took 40 minutes for our meals to arrive but we weren't in a hurry so didn't mind.
Having read the disastrous reviews, and being an old favourite, we decided to still go to Gringos.
We were pleasantly surprised! Staff on the floor were attentive and helpful. Cleared quickly and were checking everything was ok with our meal numerous times. Staff behind counter were a bit brash but we only dealt with them once.
The food was lovely, came quickly (we checked our order time based on the other reviews) within 20 mins for entree and 30 after for mains. Very well timed.
I'm hoping for their sake they have turned a corner, it was very good on Saturday night.
So we were a little hesitant to try Gringos after reading all the bad reviews but we had a hankering for some Mexican food.. I have to say the food (Enchilada and Burito) were actually pretty good.. However the service was pretty average and disorganised.. We were rushed to order as they stop taking orders after 9pm on a Saturday night.. I would probably go their again.. The old Gringos had a much better atmosphere..
Yum yum yum yum .. Great food and very clean, we had nachos and potato skins, very nice meal ... we have been there a few times,
and we keep going back. Never had a problem with our meals, ever. Despite what others have posted our meals have always been served promptly . Def a fan .

Tourist69. Wow, first visit back to South Aus in 3 years and good ol Gringos hasnt changed. Food is as good as I have ever had, The changes on the outside look fantastic, had to wait 15 mins for a table but we all expected that on a Friday night. The only problem was we couldnt stop drinking Sangria and Margaritas, burppp, Well done!!!
Mexico In Glenelg :D. Well were do i start? was recommended to go to Gringos for the a real authentic mexican meal and that is what i got. It was really busy but food was amazing and the decor is very simple but i went for the food and i will be back again. i was surprised at what i could see and hear in front of me some very impatient customers swearing at counter staff while myself and other customers behind me were lined up to be served. what is adelaide coming to if that is how people think they can speak to shop assistants? there should be a course at tafe to teach ferrals how to dine out lol. Also the avocado dip is to die for along with the amazing margaritas only $8.
Luv It!!!. This place rocks. we always have a great time and the meals are good as well as the service from most of the very happy staff. the manager couldn't be more accommodating and seems to be doing a great job. we are vegetarian and have been eating here for years. you people out there that choose to whinge about everything obviously have nothing better to do with your time or are very inexperienced diners as most restaurant/cafes don't split large bills. if you don't like the place why keep going back? we luv the place. rock on gringos.
Super Boring Food. Loved the atmosphere - but found the food really bland & not exciting :(
Have been eating here for over 10 years - great food and fast. If you want a quick meal thats yummy spicy this is it.
