Review Scuzzi Cafe North Adelaide - Glenelg

Trevor Scott
Very comfortable, well appointed licensed restaurant, Cafe Bistro. The decor is an older style but very pleasing to the eye. Outside on the kerb there sun umbrellas tables and chairs, great place to stop on a warm Adelaide day, for a coffee, beer and lunch. When in town or at the Oval, this would be a good call for dinner, with friends. The menu is very comprehensive and caters for most tastes. We found the service very good and friendly. I have no hesitation recommending this Cafe Bistro.

I've been eating and drinking (wine and coffee) at Scuzzi for a decade. The staff are always friendly, the food is always good and a decent portion, and the coffee is great!

Returned multiple times, people serving me don't smile or make you feel welcome. Was trying to support local family business. Fit out is amazing... traditional on the positive side. Plenty of local cafes around to make my new local.

Went in for a mother’s day breakfast with family and didn’t get a hello on our entrance. We were sat at a table and nobody came to serve us for literally 20-25 minutes and the only reason they then came over is because my mother in law got up to make them aware of the time we had been waiting. Every restaurant/cafe I have gone to for breakfast will usually start of with coffee, tea, OJ, water to the table. We all ordered drinks and food at the same time due to our long wait. While the order of drinks and food was made the question was raised if there was almond milk available at the restaurant and the waitress said yes. After another long wait we still had no food or drinks at the table until finally the started bringing food out. Usually drinks are preferred first off not 3/4 of the way through your meal. When my tea came out I was told they didn’t have almond milk so the tea was cancelled. The meals were missing ordered toppings, my wife didn’t receive any avocado with her eggs, the sourdough toast was very thin and burnt, we only received one piece of toast with our meal cut in half and all the poached eggs were hard boiled. When it came time to pay the old man behind the counter looked like I shot his dog. He didn’t smile on our arrival and at the time when I paid he still looked miserable. I think if anyone should have look miserable it should have been me because I still needed to pay for the poor service. Then to top things off we were over charged for ingredients We didn’t receive. I won’t be going back again and I think they really need to do something to change the way the business is being ran. I have never written a review on a restaurant in my life but in this case I felt it needed to be done. I hope they read this and fix all the mistakes for the future of the restaurant.

Walked in Saturday lunch time. Staff were sitting at a table whilst we waited to be seated by someone. When ordering food and a coffee, staff member sighed as the coffee machine looked clean. Only saving grace was the food was quite nice, but completely ruined by staff attitude. Most likely will not return.

Friendly staff but unfortunately a let down with the food. We ordered an orange juice, they had none. We ordered a ham and cheese croissant, they didn’t have one which they discovered after we ordered, so we were offered a ham cheese and tomato tastie instead. We also ordered bacon and poached eggs with grilled tomato. It came out with no bacon, the eggs were hard and 1 slice of burnt toast. The food that they did not have in stock they offered to go to the grocery store and buy some more and we could have it then. This is just poor management really, it’s a kind offer but honestly if that is the case I should have just gone to the shop and made it myself. You pay the money for good service and good tasty food and it’s just a let down. Won’t be in a hurry to come back anytime soon.

Our group of school friends, have been regularly going to Scuzzi's for over 5 years - food, service, atmosphere has always been excellent. They've catered for all our dietary requirements - food/drink. The owner and his Staff has bent over backwards to look after us each time. Excellent, tasty food.

Dont like leaving negative reviews. But the coffee i had was sub par, absolute no pride in the way it was made. Food was ok, nothing special. My wife and i were not made to feel special, they made as feel like we were interupting there day.

Terrible terrible terrible service. Food average, staff extremely rude, we ordered 2 breakfasts and 2 coffees, juice wasn't in stock so couldn't have that, staff couldn't have been ruder if they tried, it seems like it's too much trouble. Other patrons were dining and when they were served it was rude, told to sit down, large sigh when our order was bought over, bickering between staff behind the bar could be heard in the dining area. Do not recommend.

Worst breakfast ever!!!!!! Never again!!!! We could of and should of just made brekkie at home!! Maybe the dinner service is better... can't say I'll be back to try it though

Where do I even begin? For one, their eftpos machine wasn't working which they didn't tell you until you had already been lining up to order for five minutes and the advertised "fresh juice" is bottled. Breakfast was cold and greasy, the bread wasn't toasted and appeared to be leftover from bread baskets from the night before and the coffee was terrible with huge globs of foam.

I don't know if they were just struggling with a busy mother's day rush, but I would rate it less than one star if I could. It's like they weren't even trying.
Poppie
Terrible! If Poppie could give Scuzzi a 0.5 he would. Unfortunately zomato ratings don't allow poppie to plunge that low. Poppie probably experienced his worst breakfast experience of his life at scuzzi. As did his entourage. The food was incredibly disappointing. Is there even a chef in their kitchen? Or is an 8 year old whipping up brekkie dishes? All Poppie knows is that the Bircher museli wasn't even Bircher as you had to add your own milk, it hadn't been sitting in and absorbing milk overnight. The museli wasn't even served with a spoon. We had to ask for spoons. The big breakfast was the smallest big breakfast Poppie has seen, almost had to whip out his magnifying glass to see what was on the plate. And dear lord was the 'smashed Avocado' an abomination to the human race. It was merely two slices of bread with small chopped pieces of Avocado on them and minimal amounts of feta. Poppie was mad. The pancakes were pre-made and heated, extremely dry, more syrup was requested.
Let's not even start with the coffee. Terrible, just terrible. Stay away from scuzzi. Poppie will never be back, thumb down definitely not worth an eat 👎

Big breakfast was cold and bland, very dated interior and menu. Don't know how a place like this can survive given rising Cafe standards in Adelaide.

In fairness i cannot rate their food as we never even managed to order. We walked in with two woman walking straight past us whilst we waited;ok clearly we need to find a table. Another woman just stared at us. Went to get menus and again not one acknowledgement. I spoke loud enough for them both to hear to see if we would get served.... nothing. We got our things and said i was going somewhere else where they were nice and polite... still nothing. Doesn't take much for a smile or a hello. Wont try this place again.

Lack customer service, next to NO customer service.Filthy tables when entering.Food had hair in it.Food way to pricey, for the quality you normally would receive in North Adelaide.

I've been here a few times despite the past disappointments of food being too salty which I specifically said little salt on the pizza. Last week I decided to give it another go, but instead this time they forgot my order and it never came out so I just cancelled it and left. The waiter was very apologetic but it's not good when u leave a place after waiting a long time on an empty stomach.

Been a few times. Needs an overhaul. No table service. Food average to say the least. Could be so much better with the location. Potential yes!

Easily the blandest pizza I've ever had in Adelaide - and that's saying something. You have to work hard to make a pizza this boring. Give it a big miss

Scuzzi but what happened to the toppings?. Rang a pickup order through whilst traveling with a group and was treated like a petty criminal by the the blunt and for some reason suspicious phone staff. Even got rung back to question my legitimacy all over again to the point where if it hadn't been going to inconvenience the whole group i would have just cancelled. When we picked up the food it became apparent why they were so suspicious of a large ph .order-they would have been surprised that anyone would want to buy a pizza of them ! Basically the bases had just been brushed with tomato paste and the name written of the pizza written on the outside of the box so you could pretend to be eating whatever was the pizza that one had ordered . Their prices are not cheap and we expected some toppings of substance.

Ignorant approach. Called in today about 3.10. Ignorant woman behind counter said "we are closed". What sort of cafe is closed at that time? No question as to whether we wanted a meal or coffee. Last time I will waste my time opening the door.

Not bad bud not great. Went last night, wanted to go to FELLINIS across the road but it was booked out so went to SCUZZI. There was only 1 other couple inside. Ordered the crab Linguini? Struggled to get through it was not great at all. Staff seemed friendly but odd. Beer fridge was borderline empty, i definately wouldnt go back price was $28 for a meal so for that i expect alot more.

Used to go. Elderly lady behind the counter is extremely offputting. Blunt and unfriendly. Does nothing to inspire their business.
Meals very average, eggshells in breakfast, eggs undercooked etc. etc.
Pity, it used to have atmosphere and great staff. Ditch the witch!

New staff attitude = new scuzzi experience. I have been to Scuzzi before, great food. I am not sure if the other reviews are true as i have never noticed the staff being inattentive. Nevertheless, the new attitude of the place has really changed and i could see a real effort from the waitresses. My table was well looked after and even offered table service for our after dinner coffees on a busy Saturday night. Great meal, nice atmosphere. I'll be back. Thanks again Scuzzi.

Rudest and most disinterested staff I have ever seen. Boring wine list and lazy food, NEVER AGAIN.
Sharon
Twice now I've had a bad experience here. The staff are unwelcoming to the point of hostile. I thought I'd try again given that others have reported a good experience. Food OK but hostility kills it.

Not returning. Went to watch a movie at Piccadilly and have always wanted to try Scuzzi. How dissappointing.Had a Calzone and it lacked taste and pastry was was terrible .Ordered a beer of the menu and they were out of it and and was offered alternative which was warm. Partners meal of warm chicken salad wasn't too bad but will not return

Had a great evening here. We're very friendly service an child friendly despite no set children's menu. My daughter was thrilled to receive ice cream after dinner on the house. Very satisfying meal
Cookingprincess00
Service was slow, waitress didn't seem happy, food was tasteless, salad lacked flavour, no dressing, chips were under cooked no flavour, garlic bread was burnt no flavour, couldn't actually taste garlic as such.

Coffee tastes like dusty water.. You need to order from the counter.. Staff hungover.. Avoid this like the plague if you're looking for breakfast..

Staff are always friendly, the food is always great. I regularly return here!

This place is expensive and very average, there are so many better places around north adelaide. We ordered garlic bread that tasted no better than toasted bread and was a huge disappointment. I felt like a simple chicken parmy and what arrived was a small slightly burnt schnitzel, with under cooked chips and a boring salad. The other dishes ordered were no better. Will likely not return
Wasklywabbit
Incredibly average.

A regular favourite. Have eaten at Scuzzi for breakfast and lunch more times than I can count, the customer service is always excellent (and child friendly) and it's a great place for a quiet meeting. I have never had a bad experience here.

An old favorite for a reason.. Easy going dining, perfect for families. Very relaxed atmosphere. BBQ chicken pizza was fantastic - big on toppings and perfectly cooked without too much oil.

Would go back.

Enjoyed eating at Scuzzi. We dined at Scuzzi on a Sunday night, as a group of four. We made a booking but there were quite a few tables still available.
We all enjoyed our meals except my pasta dish (Angel Hair Pasta) was really salty. It would have been nice if not for that though.
The girl who served us at the counter was not very friendly but not rude or anything. Meals were brought out in good time.
The atmosphere is ok, fairly casual and relaxed.
Overall I might or might not go back there, but probably only to use an Entertainment Book voucher. I would like to try the pizzas.

Pizza, pasta? Yes please!. Amazing food. For busy friday and saturday nights, Scuzzi is the answer! The waits were reasonable and the food was delightful!
I will always go back to you old faithful!

The menu is fairly typical of the Italian cafe scene with bruschettas, focaccias, pizza, pasta, risotto and mains. The pizzas here come in two sizes; 9 inch and 12 inch.

Scuzzi is one of the many good restaurants on O'Connell Street North Adelaide. It is only second review since Café Paesano your reviewer has done from this street. Scuzzi has plenty of seating inside and out. The seating is comfortable with a choice of ki
