Had Heard Good Things About Uncle Bill’s Kitchen. So, Gave Them A Go !! Located On Level 1 of Australia Fair Shopping Centre In Southport, Just Up From Event Cinemas & Next To the Over Road Walkway. First Impressions, Bit Chaotic, Considering How Few Customers Were There !! Had The Blackboard Advertised “Chefs Special” Wonton Soup with “Extra BBQ Pork” Which Consisted of 3 Bite Size Pieces Of Pork !! Not Sure, But, Maybe Being The Only Non Asian There, The “Extra” Was LESS Than Usually Given ?? !! Would Like To Think, That’s NOT The Case !! The Soup Was Bland, The BBQ Pork Was Nothing Special. It All Lacked Flavour, Added Chilli To Give it a Much Needed Kick. The Cook / Owner Was Wearing a Mask. But, While I Was Eating an Older Asian Guy That Was Collecting Dishes & Doing Deliveries Had A Coughing & Sneezing Episode Right Near the Food Prep Area While NOT Wearing a Mask 😝🥺🤢

Uncle Bill’s is a hidden gem in a quiet corner of Australia Fair shopping centre. It’s a small no nonsense eatery serving better than ‘big’ restaurant freshly roasted meats. Uncle Bill's has been dishing up his amazing Hong Kong style Cantonese food for many years at AustFair. Surviving through pandemic restrictions and no tourists is testimony to how good his food is. We always make a point of visiting Uncle Bill's on every trip to the Gold Coast. Prices are very fair for the amazing quality of his food. We always order 2 choices of roast meat with rice and wonton noodle soup. The roast duck is juicy and roast pork with crispy skin are favourites. They also have char sui bbq pork, roast and soy chicken dishes which the family also enjoy. Seating is available on around 8 small wooden square tables and stools which fill up quickly at lunchtime. Ordering is done at the counter and with service more transactional rather than personal. Uncle Bills is located upstairs in AustFair close to the cinema and an easy walk across the overhead bridge to the free carpark.

It's the most delicious duck I have eaten! Everything that I have got was amazing and I recommend this place for its zen and calm feeling and its food with lots and lots flavour. This comes from someone that has Chinese background, it's the first time that eating Chinese food since moving to Australia feels like home. Will definitely come back and have my Chinese food here.

Came here for a quick early dinner before heading into a movie. Had the roast duck, soy sauce chicken and Shanghai noodle soup. Hit the spot! Will be back to try the roast pork next time (they ran out since they were about to close).

I tried to purchase the whole roasted duck at 12am an 27 Feb 2022 for my son birthday. i was asked to wait. staff did not take any interest in me. so i was just waiting there. the old man did not ask me when he started to cut the duck? I did not know he started to serve me, so i said i want to pick one i like. he started to yell at me saying why i did not tell him first. but the issue is your staff asked me to wait. you did not ask me first. it was very rude and totally ruined My mood. i paid money to recieve this bad service? so i asked to refund. they put the refund through. however after 5 working day, i still not recieve my money. it is a very dodging and dishonest business in Gold coast. the owner, even if he was old, really does not know how to respect people, especially customers. so i paid $35.90 for nothing.

Very delicious Hong Kong style barbecue. The ducks and roasted pork are especially good. If char siu has a bit more fat, it would be perfect. Thank you very much.

I found a hair in my wanton soup, told the staff and they offered to replace it. I accepted, but instead of providing a new soup they removed the hair and heated it up. I could tell because the wontons were mangled and was still a darker colour from the soy sauce I orignally added. Very dissapointed, I will never go back again.

Just in the middle of lunch and it's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Sooo Tasty and Yummy, easily one of the best authentic chinese I have ever been to.

We stumbled across Uncle Bill's one day and have now returned about 5 times for simple fresh tasty BBQ duck & pork, bao. Well worth a visit for casual dining<br/>

Purchased the Groupon deal on the same day that Shorty placed his review. Eventually arranged time to go for a dinner last night. Actually, this eatery located at the new extension of the Australia Fair. A small shop but offers tasteful BBQ meat. The picture on the shop logo has a very close resemblance to chef - Uncle Bill. We had Bao bun with BBQ pork and the Honey Roasted Chicken Leg for entrees and half of the signature roasted duck for the main to go with the steamed rice. Chicken leg is unexpectedly tender and delicious. Bao is soft; however, the BBQ pork is too lean so lack of a bit of fatty portion to go with the bun. Skin of roasted duck is marvellous, which is much better than a lot of Peking Duck serving in the other Chinese restaurant. Marinated recipe of this roasted duck should be the best in Gold Coast. What a good local gem in Southport! Cheers!
