Review Indian Hut - Gold Coast

Have been there a few times in the past to use the offers in the entertainment book. The food has always been standard fare. Went there earlier this evening. Only one waiter manning the diners and the takeaways. Waited for 20 minutes for orders to be taken but the food arrived promptly. When I showed the offer on my entertainment app to pay my bill, the waiter said it was only valid for takeaways, whereas it was clearly written on the offer that it was valid for dine-in and takeaways. Definitely not going back again.

We had a fabulous super tasty dinner with a large group. Very well handled by the wonderful staff. Really authentic flavours cook beautifully.

Love it. Fantastic quality at a great price. Generous servings with the amount of meat in the meat dishes. Goat curry (bone in) is my absolute favourite, palak paneer and the vege korma are also house favourites - i cant help but order 2 x saffron rice each time and the naans are spot on! Can't fault them, best Indian I've come across on the coast!

Disappointed ordered korma chicken curry and the chicken was in great chunks not chopped up! Had to wait 45 mins! This Indian restaurant used to be the best on the Gold Coast.. not any more !

Long wait. Average food. Garlic prawns had 4 prawns in it. Butter chicken wasn’t cut up and in huge chunks with 1 bone. Won’t be going back.

Food taste pretty average, usual sweet Australian Indian style. Biryani was not what biryani should taste like, did not have the right spices. Food serving size is astonishing. You pay $20 for a small bowl the size of a small female hand. Realistically should be advertised as tapas, not suitable for the size of a main. Also was out of buffet. Trying to support local businesses, hopefully after this hard period they will increase serving size back to adult sizes.

All the curry’s I’ve had here are pretty textbook but you can’t go past the butter chicken and cheese/ garlic naan. Some of the best of the coast for sure!

Ordered a curry and tandoori chicken last night and it gave my partner and I food poisoning. I'm pregnant, so mine is very severe. Do better with your food hygiene.

Excellent food, ultra efficient service, attentive waiting staff, funny location but you can forgive that given the quality of food which was great North Indian style and well presented too. Thanks Indian Hut. We’ll be back for more.

Tried this place the other night on buffet night and thought value was ok
The flavors were good even though the dishes had more sauce than protein.
So was ok just could have done with more protein in dishes ..

Good Indian!! This is my local Indian joint and I love it! Only ever had takeaway from here, but it's always great!! Receive a discount if you pay cash, so hit the ATM before you dine. 👍

Indian Hut’s menu is extensive – lots of choices, and varieties of dishes, for example, six rice dishes, including biryani and Kashmiri pulao, and a dozen breads including different naan, roti and paratha. We notice lots of choice for vegetarians, (about half the menu, in fact)... For me, this is food to share. With each curry so different, it’s great to savour each taste, to choose complementary flavours and textures, noting their difference. Indian Hut has a keen price point, with most curries ranging from $12.95 – $15.95. However, on a blustery Wednesday night as I stand beside a stranger awaiting our takeaways, it’s not the price he’s talking about. While affordability may be a consideration, it’s the consistent quality of India Hut’s rich aromatic curries, made by an owner chef, that bring back the locals.

The best Indian I have ever had!. This place is hands down the best Indian I have ever had - including all restaurants on the Gold Coast and Brisbane that I have tried. We get take away from here on a regular basis and have never been disappointed. Last night we had a big order due to entertaining a number of people and the food was exceptional. They offer a good deal of 10% discount if you pay with cash. Indian Hut is the only Indian restaurant that we dine at on the Coast! So good! - Malai Kofta is my favourite!

Good Food - Terrible Staff. The food was good. The staff are the rudest, most arrogant bunch of workers I have ever experienced in a restaurant. When you ring for a take away, they will simply answer with "hello". You have to proceed to ask if this is actually an indian rstaurant you have called. Do not expect a thank you, please or your welcome and certainly not a smile.

The food was nice but the service left a bad taste in our mouths :(

Disappointed.

Good food. Terrible service. They are rude and abrupt and no one smiles. Just takeaway from now on for us.

Don't let location turn you off. Consistently wonderful food. Nearly didn't go in the first time due to the unappealing location, but glad we did! Not the friendliest of service, but who cares when it's this delicious?!

Yumsies. Went here on a saturday night, had quite a few people there so we thought it would be good. Food came out promptly ( Best thing when dining with kids) everything was pretty yummy, wait staff were polite and helpful. The only downside was the rice portion was small. One small bowl when we asked for rice for four. 6.5/10

Best Indian on the coast.. And I've tried heaps of different Indian restaurants but you win top honours without a doubt!! Prefect tikka masala and my partners vindaloo was outstanding. Thrilled we tried you out. Thanks

Below average service. We have been going to the Indian Hutt for a year now as loyal customers. We decided to go back for the sunday evening dinner buffet after a few months break of not being there. There were four of us eating 1 person wanted the buffet and the other 3 wanted to order from the menu much to our disapointment we were told that all four have to have buffet or the menu if not we could sit at seperate tables. Even though 3 people would be ordering off the menu that would equate to more than the cost of a Buffet we were refused I think it is disgusting customer services especially when we WERE LOYAL customers.

BEST EVER INDIAN. This is by far the best Indian cuisine you will ever have, especially on the Gold Coast. DO NOT go anywhere else. This is one of these little gems that only locals seem to know about and love. My husband and I love Indian & both agree that life is too short for bad food! We have been coming here for years and we have never been disappointed. The food is always of a very high standard, get yourself in a taxi and get to Christine Corner. Try Chicken Shahi, Lamb Nawabi, Prawn Karahi, Kashmiri Naan and Kashmiri Pilau. AWESOME!

Best Indian on Coast. Indian Hut is by far the most tasty and delicious indian food I've tasted on the gold coast. Staff are always friendly and are happy to adjust things on the menu to your taste (which I've found a lot of other indian restaurants won't do). The coconut rice and butter chicken are amazing. Everyone should try this restaurant I've never been let down!

This is by far the best Indian restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of dining in. Über friendly staff, everything is well priced. The do by far have the best Butter Chicken I have ever tried, their saffron rice is on game and their samosas are amazing. I live in Melbourne, but whenever I am up the Gold Coast, this is definitely first or second on my culinary trips around town. The only bad point I could mention is that the location is average being in what used be an area called Stephens on Bermuda street. However, that aside, it is definitely the best Indian restaurant food wise on the Gold Coast without a doubt. Please don't ever change your butter chicken recipe!

Surprisingly Good. I'd passed this restaurant on a number of occasions, but never eaten there until doing so last night after finding the bottleshop near the restaurant a friend and I were headed to was closed.

Indian Hut is located in a small (out of the way to me) surburban shopping centre near the highway. The centre also contains a bottle shop. We stopped to get wine, and upon seeing the restaurant was quite busy for 8.30 on a Wednesday night, Googled it. After reading only positive reviews, and finding their kitchen was open until 9.30, we decided to give it a try.

There is indoor and outdoor seating, the latter adjoining a carpark. The chairs we sat on (outdoors) were plastic, but comfy, so casual dining would best describe the vibe. I can't comment on the decor of the restaurant, as I didn't go inside.

We shared the mixed vegetarian plate which consisted of four small veggie spring rolls, two veggie patties and two curry puffs. These came with two sauces, one of which was sweet chilli. The filling of the patties and curry puffs was on the dry side and I'd have liked a little more spice in the curry puffs, but everything was nice enough and reasonably priced at $11.95.

For mains we had Malai Kofta, Prawn Karahi, plain rice and a side of garlic naan. I like my food hot, but my friend isn't used to a lot of spice so we chose medium. I've noticed heat levels vary a lot from restaurant to restaurant and sometimes medium can be bland, but this was not to the case here. The sauce accompanying both dishes was very flavoursome, with the spices nicely melded. Prawns were cooked just to the point of bursting when bitten into. The malai kofta was a little firmer and drier than I like, but still good.

The rice was cooked well with the grains all separated and the naan was nice and garlicky.

One of the waiters seemed a bit stern, the other was pleasant. Our bill, which came to under $60, was brought to the table at 10 o'clock, so we didn't feel rushed.

Another plus for me is that there are plenty of vegetarian options.

All up, I was very pleasantly surprised by Indian Hut. If you're looking for an Indian restaurant which is licenced but allows BYO wine, has outdoor seating, is reasonably priced and serves tasty food, give them a try.

Great Food. We visited this restaurant last night with group of 16. We had a mix of dishes which we all shared. The food was fantastic, some of the tastiest Indian I've had. The service was professional and very courteous and the price was very reasonable and worked at $27 per head. We chose to byo our wines and so could choose what we liked in wine. Will be back.

As a local I have eaten at this rest. A number of times and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys good quality Indian food moderately priced.
