Review Fishmongers Cafe & Bar - Gold Coast

Went to Dreamworld for the first time today and had an awesome time! Short lines and great coasters! Also very friendly and fun staff. Plan to go to the water park next time as well. The beautiful tigers stole my heart and were the highlight of my day there! Would definitely recommend!

Kids absolutely love walking around this park looking at the animals and then ending up on the rides. A great variety of attractions for all ages. We have the annual passes which make it very affordable and visit probably twice a month.

I was here on a Monday so the lines were short or nonexistent which was nice but so many of their main rides were closed due to phasing their reopening. Although the park was clean and a nice family environment and the staff was helpful, it seemed a bit overpriced for the size of the park and then all but one of their main attractions were closed. I’m sure it will be a much better experience when all of the rides are functioning again.

Went to check out their newest attraction, the Steel Taipan roller coaster🎢 it is awesome! It was relatively quiet, which was great as didn’t have to wait long. Be great to see what other improvements they’ll be making over time.

This place is better suited for kids. Don't expect any high thrilled rides. I think there are great aspects that can be improved to attract more people, however as of right now, i'd give this place a so-so, slightly overpriced for the price.

Lots of rides and other attractions will keep the family entertained for the whole day. Tiger Island is fantastic as well. Most rides were open during school holidays though staff shortages were evident with long queues. Signage to guide people to way towards rides is missing making first timers waste time, this should be an easy fix, specially when no paper maps are available on site and you are asked to use your phone to navigate. Lastly the evening closing time leads everyone out from the single road from parking lot and it takes literally over 30 to 40 mins to crawl out to the main road - the park needs to petition a set of traffic lights at the roundabout so traffic clears quickly in peak evening period.

Amazing park, lots of different rides for all ages! Love tigers!!! The only down was that not all rides were opened and train was also closed. The food was average and a bit overpriced. Otherwise was all good and we will definitely be back again one day!

Wonderful to see the changes to the park. The new rides and attractions are great. Tiger island is my favourite.. I could watch them all day. New Sky Voyager ride is excellent. The food is a fair price for a theme park, they do have good deals. Buy a refill cup. Fantastic day

This is a very horrible restaurant. Wait is just too crazy , 45 minute for a fresh oyster. Staff was not friendly especially the girl in front of the cashier. Very dissapointed with this restaurant. NEVER GO BACK

Last time I went here it made me sick. The batter was thick and not nice. Don’t recommend. Other fish places nearby are better

I had the barramundi with chips and it was so so so good. Big chunk of fish, was not expecting that so definitely a pleasant surprise. Best fish and chips I had so far!
Laura
The best fish and chips we've had up in Burleigh.

I'm pretty fussy when it comes to potato cakes and dim sims but the ones here were delicious!!

Great food! A must do local . Crumbed fish unless requested and not oily! Can't go past a classic . Old school service with a new school twist.
Definitely coming back. Worth a visit .

Was told 45min wait. 1hr food ready. Was average fish and chips. Fish burger wasn't very nice, kinda wondered if they used a not great piece of fish cos it was a burger. Not worth an hours wait!

Always fresh.. crispy chips. What else is required?!
oh, 140 characters apparently. sometimes the wait can be a little long, but that's a good thing in a way I guess. OK enjoy.

I would like to review the food but sadly can't as I've been waiting at my table for over 1hr.... For fish and chips...

Very Hit and Miss. Had a delicious dine in experience few nights earlier however the takeaway we ordered two days later was awful. The dining in experience offered a large serving of chips for $6 and beautifully cooked fish. Calamari looked like it was mass produced packet calamari though. Takeaway chips $6 and it was half the amount and the fish was dreadful. Calamari was the same (kids wanted it). Wouldn't go back. Older man serving the second time was very rude and showed no customer service skills. Disappointing as I'd recommended based in our dining in experience

2 out 3 times it's great!! Nice staff just need to ask for chips well done (perfect)

Had the grilled Australian barramundi which was delicious - fresh and well cooked. Fisherman's basket was also good and the friendly staff let us substitute some of the items for others.

Hit and miss. First time I went there the food and service was great. Fresh fish and lightly fried chips, yum!... Last 2 times I've been there the food taste like it's been refried multiple times. Chips soaked in oil and the fish inside the batter was mush.... It's a shame they just need better quality control but I won't be back.

If you want to be shouted at by the manager - come here.... This place is awful. Really really awful.
Came here after barefoot bowls on a Sunday afternoon on the recommendation of my brother-in-law. The place wasn't busy - in fact there were more staff than customers - but it took 15 minutes of queuing (there were two people in front of us) before we were approached.
I asked the manager about the specials on the chalk board - because I couldn't work out what was included in what meal deal - and he proceeded to explain to me like I was wasting his time. There were 10 of us all wanting food - so he was going to get some decent custom that afternoon from us.
So I opted for the meal that didn't include a drink - but asked him to add a drink to the total. For some reason he took offence to that - barking that it didn't come with a drink. So I humoured him and explained I was wanting to pay for the drink on top - to which he grumbled and walked off.
Anyhow - 10 minutes later our food arrived without the drink I had ordered. I asked the girl if the drink I ordered was coming, the drink I had paid for - and the manager stormed over - yelled at me - and explained again 'the meal doesn't come with a drink - I told you that'. Nice fella! So the drink I had now paid for on top of my meal was now not part of the meal I ordered and paid for.

A little phrase for the fella who lacks customer service skills - 'It's nice to be important - but more important to be nice!'.

Food was alright - but the fact that the manager was such an ignorant man made sure I will not be returning or ever recommending the place to anyone.

Best fish and chips I've ever eaten. Come to Burleigh every year on holiday and hit up fish mongers 2 or 3 times every trip. The fish, chips, dim sims and every thing else is just brilliant!

Ordered calamari and chips. Chips isn't good and the calamari taste like they've been fried multiple time

Pretty good food but the slowest fish and chips I've ever experenced.

March 7, 2015 Australia , Brisbane Restaurants & Cafes , Food , Lifestyle 0 I didn’t celebrate Valentines Day last year. It happened to fall on an unfortunate day and we sort of just forgot about it. That doesn’t, however, mean that I don’t love to be excited for it. I’m the biggest romantic in the world and I totally buy into all that sweet sappy commercialised crap. The boyfriend is the opposite…he is romantic in other ways. Except for this this year, apparently. As a sweet surprise for Valentines Day, I was swept away to Burleigh Heads on the sunny Gold Coast for the weekend! Burleigh is my number one favourite place to go with so many wonderful childhood memories there. This guy’s a keeper, I think. We arrived late afternoon on Friday and immediately jumped on the bikes to have a quick pedal to the best (in my opinion) fish and chip shop on the Gold Coast – Burleigh Heads Fishmongers. Although I hadn’t been there in over 5 years, it still looked the very same to my 21 year old self as it had my 6 year old self. After a short wait, I played tour guide and directed us to the beach – not that it was hard. You can see the waves from the store as you cross the park to the benches right on the sand. The chips were just as I remembered them. Crispy and covered in salt. Suhhhh goooooood! The fish was also delicious – grilled snapper and barramundi on a clean hotplate with no flour. I was so happy when they said they catered for coeliacs. It’s really rare to find a chippo that has gluten free chips AND fish! (This is why I love ‘em). The people watching was excellent and the different kinds of bikes you see people cycle past on are just brilliant. If I wasn’t too busy stuffing my face I probably would have taken pictures! But alas, the only picture I took was of some individuals doing a bit of their own people watching – Much to their disappointment (and my struggle with temptation) they did not receive a single chip from us save the few crumbs that fell under our se

James St was ever so busy with the Sunday morning crowd of cafe crawlers, froyo youngsters, grocer shoppers and dog walkers. After smothering our feet in the warm sand and water, Red Macaron and I decided to browse the local shops. Lunch was tapping us on the shoulder and the tempting smell of fish and chips was irresistible. With fresh fish on display, a box of free fish scraps and a queue of hungry customers, we knew this was the perfect place. We ordered the Fisherman’s Basket with a grilled Dory fillet. With a hot bundle of butcher’s paper, we sat ont eh grass overlookign the vast blue waters and ivory sands. The Dory fillet was moist and tender with the charred flavour of the grill. The Fisherman’s Basket featured calamari rings, scallops, prawn, crumbed fish pieces, potato gems and thick chips. The succulent, slippery pieces of fish coated in a crisp crumb coating were incredible. With a tummy full of fish, we strolled back along the shoreline,
