Came here for my belated Birthday with a friend. The Restaurant was well set out and not over fussy. The music was modern and good and not overly loud. We had a Groupon Voucher so had a limited menu to choose from but having said that there was more than ample choices in each section and we could choose several items from each section. The wine was a choice of house red or white. The food was very yummy and plentiful but we did have to ask for a dish which had clearly been forgotten but this was soon brought out to us (would have given a higher rating except for this). The Fried Rice was excellent. The Restaurant was quite full on the night we came everyone looked like they enjoyed their meals with only empty plates returning to the kitchen. We have already decided to come again with our partners for a Pre-Christmas get together. Good Value - Would Recommend a visit.
Not bad!! Considering the price we were quite impressed! Had 2 entrees, 2 mains and a large rice for 50$. Nice clean decor. Friendly staff! Will go again
Serves are so generous that most tables ask for takeaway of the remaining. The taste of our order is between good and above average. But our choices were limited by the Groupon set menu. I expect the full menu to be more extensive with chef specials. I think we shall come back to try other dishes.

I cannot believe I have been a Voucher Virgin for such a long time! It’s so affordable, what was I thinking! On the voucher site, we decided to try Modern China, even though the reviews were not the best! But then we were informed that the restaurant now has new owners and the negative reviews were from the previous owners, so now they have their work cut out for them! And they are really doing a fabulous job of it! These owners really care about what is going on in their restaurant and totally make sure all their customers are happy.
We chose the 3 course deal for 2 people, which included, choice of 2 entrees, 2 mains, one rice or noodle dish, glass of wine, juice, beer or soft drink and desserts, marvellous! $39 (special menu provided)
As we were waiting for our meals to come out, I asked the super friendly helpful waiter if I could have a look at their normal menus, I was handed 2 different ones. Well, I just love the fact that one menu is filled with authentic Chinese dishes with photos and it looks amazing! The other is for the more Western folk, you know? like the safety eaters, sweet n sour pork and all that!
Entrée arrived, mixed entrée and S&P squid, the squid was tender and crisp, really good. However, the mixed entrée not great, beef skewer way too chewy, spring roll tasted like straight out of the box, dim sim was fine. Lucky the mains made up for it.
Mains arrived, crispy beef with plum sauce, Mongolian sizzling chicken, Singapore noodles. The servings were enormous and everything was great, took the rest home!
Desserts were ice cream and topping on the deal, but we decided to swap this for fried ice cream and paid tiny bit extra. Great fried ice cream!
Will definitely return and soon, can’t wait to try the awesome authentic Chinese menu!
Delicious authentic food was very pleasantly surprised! The only thing I would suggest is champagne by the glass and changing the music up otherwise can't fault it.

Have driven past this restaurant on numerous occasions, but never visited. Until today. I'm always on the lookout for lunch options, and thought we would pop in for a taste. The exterior looks 'beige' - nothing that grabs your attention. Unfortunately the interior isn't much of an improvement either, but it is very clean and neat. Definitely rates better than certain establishments in Chinatown.
We were offered a lunch menu and a wine list. The plethora of options caused my indecisiveness. Their lunch menu is equivalent to many restaurants' complete menu. Every dish includes a soft drink which made the offer rather appealing to those on a budget.
We settled on the classics; salt and pepper squid, a kway teow (dry hor fun) and the beef stir fry with steamed rice.
Everything was lovely. It didn't blow my socks off, however, all meals were on point and very much value for money.
Service was polite and friendly. The only floor staff present during meal did bring out our mains before our drinks. Minor detail really.
In summary I must point out that it isn't very common to have an individually cooked dish with a soft drink for under $10. I definite recommend this place if you enjoy solid Chinese food on a small budget.
Mains were good but entrees were a let down. My partner and I stumbled across this place last Saturday night. No booking was necessary and a waitress greeted us and swiftly got us seated. Ordered san choy bao and spring rolls for the entree and were completely disappointed. The 3 Vegetarian spring rolls were shorter than the length of my pinky and had hardly any filling and my partner felt they could've done better with the San choy bao which tasted like we could have made at home. When our mains came out, we werent expecting much but was satsfied with our Peking duck and fried rice. We do think they redeemed themselves. Wouldn't rush back anytime soon but willing to give another go if we were in the area
Even though this was your typical run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant, I thought the food was pretty good & it was great to see that they served mantou (a type of Chinese bun). We ordered some which were served with a side of condensed milk. Yum! Prices were very reasonable, service was pretty standard, but overall a nice experience & deserves a return visit.
Takeaway acceptable for standard fare Chinese. Dine in menu looks more interesting - I think take away menu catering for general western favorites.
Been here four times now. Every time has been excellent. They also did a very good job with a wine and food group. A great addition to the local area.
2019 Here again. Been regularly over the last few years. Often busy but tonight almost empty.
This place is really good. As good as gouger street. Really should be more popular. Friendly attentive staff and food is YUMMY ‼️
Great Food And Service. Five Star experience. Booked a group of 16 and shared mains. Got to try lots of mains and all of the food was excellent. Only positive comments from all of my group. Seated and served promptly. All of my group got an individual itemised bill at the end of the night to help with working out who had what. Outstanding and never seen this done before. Thanks! Can't wait to return.
Food is fabulous! Salt and pepper calamari and peppercorn duck are really nice! They have got traditional Chinese meals as well!
Lovely looking restaurant inside and the staff were really nice and friendly. The size of the serves was amazing, we had so much left over we ended up taking home 4 full takeaway containers. Excellent food, really recommend giving this place a try.
The manager of the newly reopened restaurant and the new service provider was very young, but he was very friendly and polite.😊

Pretty good Chinese food overall, decent price range $$. The Claypot meat is a must try. Overall, 7/10 experience.
since re-opening, the new food is fabulous, especially the roasted duck, the staffs are much better than before, no doubt will come back again
