Review Embers Restaurant - Gooseberry Hill

Tom R
Went here at 5:30pm before a Perth Observatory tour. Absolutely lovely restaurant with great staff and excellent food. The gentleman who served us was very attentive and professional. The pizza absolutely delicious! And the chocolate mud cake at the end was HUGE! My partner and I could just finish it. Will be going back next time we have a night out in the Hills.
Beshay Kitchen
Amazing place! I have added a hand for size comparison. The meals are very large and tasty. The one downside I believe is the furniture and colour scheme, very dark and strange but I think it’s the sort of vibe they’re going for but would suggest a change to more cheerful colours.

They're good to dine out. Great pizzas and pastas. Took out one star coz the Las time I went there, dine-in wasn't available and there was no way for me to check if it was. Google said the place was open but there was no dine-in and no one picked at the front desk either. However, the place is good in itself:)

Amazing experience. The man that served us was funny and polite enough to tell us to not order such a large entree, as the main is filling. We noted that all the dishes we chose looked small, however were just right in filling us up. 5/5, can't wait to go back!
Nick
A definite must for casual dining in the hills. They offer a great range on the menu and both dishes we had came out perfect. The mains are very big but worth it to take some home at the end. Ordered another pasta to take away after tasting how good this one was.

We found the gem on Perth Hill. Thanks Google for making me found this place. There's variety of menu is amazing! I love the blue cheese in my chicken cordon bleu and slow cooked beef cheek to die for! Friendly staffs and amazing service
Edward Farley
Loved it Very busy so allow time Best pepper steak I have had in while Great portion size

Ive heard this place is meant to be good but i wasnt impressed with the food! I ordered takeaway cannelloni and waited for it instore! But the cannelloni was burnt i will upload photos, it was disappointing as the burnt bit was throughout the meal and literally left a bad taste in my mouth! The lady who served me was very helpful and friendly, but unfortunately i wont be back. I

We booked alfresco on a cold winters day as planned to bring our dog Frankie. He didn't end up coming with us but we still sat outside as it was enclosed and we were seated in front of a warm fire. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Service was prompt and efficient. The food was great! We shared oysters Kilpatrick and the creamy clams - yum!!! I then had the surf and turf and the prawns were delicious! It was so big I didn't finish eating the steak and didn't even touch the salad as the chips were too tasty. Hubby really enjoyed his parmi and step daughter her burger. We couldn't fit another thing in and rolled out of there content and very satisfied.

This is an absolute institution in Kalamunda and Gooseberry Hill. This is more of a special occasion place as it's by no means budget, but the quality is there to justify the prices. Special mention to the carpetbag steak - it is to die for.

Nice staff. Plenty of room in the restaurant and you don’t feel you are in a confined place. Very huge menu and you can choose whatever you want, seafood, pizza, pasta, meat and chicken dishes... good size for each meal. Prices are reasonable. They do have hot and cold drinks.

After a search on Zomato for our after church lunch venue, we came here as first-timers last week. We did not know we are supposed to book in advance, but the waitress team was very helpful and managed to find us a table just when we’re about to walk back to the car. We love the food! The pasta was al dente and spot on, the pizza had the right amount of crisp, and despite we ordered the all meat one, was not overpowering. The chilli mussel was fresh and fragrant, and the chicken parma was also pretty great.
Amy
Hands down the best place to eat in Perth for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Phenomenal customer service who go above and beyond to meet customers needs, very knowledgeable and professional. The food is simply amazing you couldn’t complain about this restaurant and will never leave hungry!! + fantastic gluten free options!

An absolute gem up in the hills, i have never had a bad meal at Embers the staff are always amazing and the food is fantastic, best desserts around especially the cheesecakes, and nothing is to much trouble when ordering takeaways, our families favorite place for breakfast lunch and diner.
Sharn
Gorgeous restaurant and amazing food. Best chilli mussels I’ve ever had, and served perfectly with water bowl and shell bowl and mussel fork. Great service, outstanding food, so many options. Excellent takeaway too.
Abs369
Good friendly attentive service. We ordered to share and they were quick to bring out extra plates before we even had to ask.

The portions are massive and the food is generally quite good. Their menu is also quite extensive. This could be good or bad depends how you look at it.

Great place to visit with large groups.

Enjoyed a fantastic Chilli Mussels, I always try this at most restaurants around Perth WA, very often its pretty tasteless, plan to go back again real soon.

Wow! We visited Embers upon recommendation of a friend who had last been many years ago. The dinner was for a birthday celebration of 3 of the 4 guests. We we all amazed how popular the restaurant is. The service was excellent and the mature waiter was magnificent. But when the food arrived, steak with blue cheese sauce, OMG! If it wasn't for the large portion you receive, we would have ordered that meal again and skipped dessert.
Amazing food, service excellent and great character. A definite must to return.
Thank you Embers for making our celebration special
Mena
We came here for dinner as part of a large group on a Saturday night and OMG I think I had the best salad of my life. I think the honey soy sesame chicken salad pictured was even better than it looks! All our meals came out together (a feat with such a large group) and we were never left without a drink. Great service and food all-round.
Hills Mum
Loved it! amazing food will definitely be back friendly service! Nice busy atmosphere! Serve are a little bit on the big side, reasonable wine list
Hitchcock.candice
Consistently great food, great service and atmosphere. Excellent wine list. Keep up the work embers you're a star in the Perth hills community!

Found a new favourite in the hills. Took a chance without booking on a cold, rainy Sunday place was busy, staff bent over backwards to get us a table. Amazing food and excellent service. Will be back for sure!
Books Hunt
We went here for my birthday dinner and they were very accommodating (they allowed us to provide the cake) The food was excellent, our entire family enjoyed their various foods. There was a variety for my vegetarian needs and plenty of options for my carnivorous family. The restruant was bustling but we still got our food in due time. I definitely recommend it if your up in the perth hills !
Damofromperth
Highly recommended when in the area, especially before/after taking in the views at the zig zags. Large portions of delicious pasta. I really enjoyed the evening, also managed to sneak in some desert at the end as well 😋

So I have always loved the food and the value for money at Embers take away and the staff are always friendly ....however enough is enough! When I try and ring and order through I am constantly either having the phone ring out or being put on hold which consists of having the phone put down on the bench so I can hear 10 other people have their order taken. Tonight the phone rang out twice then I was put on hold for 10 minutes and heard two other phone calls come through and have their order taken before I hung up again and was promptly asked to hold AGAIN!!!! your food and people are awesome guys but you need to come up with a new phone service and order tracking system because the 1920's paper based dockets is not working! and being told your order will be ready in 20min we all know is more like 30 to 40 minutes. Get an automated tracking system please before all of your regular clients completely run out of patience and won't be recommending you anymore.

Went here for lunch on a Sat. Ordered the Giardino salad and No Cow burger followed by Chocolate Beetroot cake. Both the mains were very good quality, Unlike most places, a small jar of parmesan was provided with the Giardino salad that was great. Burger was pretty good too with thick cut chips. Chocolate Beetroot did not have much of a Beetroot taste to it but was not bad. Decor could do with a bit of refurbishment though & toilet is directly opposite the kitchen that is a bit odd.
Leeanne Powell
Meals are lovely and great variety.
Staff very efficient and friendly.
Premisises need updating & a good clean!
Pictures in front of us splattered with food and looked like they hadn't been wiped since the day the were put up. Looking really dirty all round and left us wondering how bad the kitchen looks if it's like this in the restaurant .
Money clearly needs to be spent on decor & refit
Suzi Simpson
Food is always delicious and very filling. Busy little place so book a table! Atmosphere is good, wait staff are helpful and prices are reasonable.
Freo Food Girl
Good food, impeccable service, we were seated outside and our waiter came to our table to confirm the order as we made a change to a dish due to allergies, he asked us how our meals were and checked in at the right times. Overall impressed at my first dinner at Embers, when we lived in the area we would get takeaways (good) and occasionally I drive up for a roll and chips. Everyone enjoyed their meal especially the nicoise salad.
Jess
Nice food but little bit disappointed with the service....and the time take bit longer to coming the food... We will come back but service need to be bit faster

Hello all..... After reading all the master chef fine dining cooks rate this place it's clear to me that your knowledge of good food is lacking.... And the way half of you talk it's clear that your also a little retarded.....
I have eaten all over the place and I am personal friends with restaurant owners so I'm pretty well rounded when it comes to allot of things food related.... And I know what I don't like and honestly I love this place!!!!
Food is consistently clean, full flavoured and heaps on the plate.... I have eaten everything on the menu and can't fault anything.... The only complaint I have about this little gem is that sometimes we can't get a table...
Drinks have been great and made with attention to detail.....
So all in all yeah it's not fine dining but you get more than what you pay for every time.... And I wouldnt eat there often if it was anything less than great food, great price and great atmosphere.....
So if all you wanna be food critics don't like the place then great!!!! I hate it when I can't get a table

Lunch for 5 of us was fantastic. Served in timely manner, nice and hot and deliciously tastefull. Staff were very helpfull and attentive and responded to our requests promptlt. Thoroughly recommended. We went at 1.30 pm great time as not overly busy.
Eetee
Been before and it was good - service was attentive and food delicious. We were looking forward to returning. This time, we were reminded multiple times that we only had the table for an hour - it took the shine off an otherwise happy birthday dinner. Combined with average pizza and pasta, we won't be back. There's nicer places out there
Lisa Marie
Snuck in for a cheeky lunch. Welcoming environment. Staff were really great and made us feel really comfortable. Great menu. We will be back.
Katie Donnelly
My favourite local. Food is always delicious. Portions are very very big, keeps the man happy. Tim tim cheesecake what more can you ask for to top off a delicious meal. Great service, very friendly staff whether busy or quiet. Sometimes sit in the covered outdoor area with the dog. Coffee is awesome.
Marcus
EDIT: Went again, the Paella was very dry and very strong flavours, ate a third of it as was hungry. Gave feedback but got no sympathy, nothing taken off the bill, no free coffee, a chocolate, nothing. Service was very slow too. Very disappointing. Had to change the rating down from 5 *’s.

Fantastic meal, generous serves, great flavours, reasonable prices. Watermelon and Lemon sorbet to finish was heaven. I'm heading back again despite being a long drive.
Salvatore.rigatuso
Non Ci siamooooo!
Enormous portions but absence of flavour!
Mile away from italian cuisine!
If you are a person with taste after a nice dinner, look forward!
I'm sorry, normally I'm more kind!
Warren Wazz Cartledge
Great food but very very noisy very difficult for an intimate romantic dinner. A hidden gem in the hills and very nice on a winter evening but noisy
Claire Zita Jones
A total Gem! Make sure you book as we managed to grab the last available spot on a Friday night in advance. The garlic bread is delicious with just the right amount of garlic . Mains of beef parmi and pasta and also spinach ricotta gnocchi couldn't have been more different but both amazing. The ambience has a warm buzz of people enjoying company and food and the service was attentive but not over bearing. I would recommend Embers to anyone wanting an Italian Dining Experience. ❤️

Update:
Have been many times since and breakfast is lovely
Whatever issues they had- they have responded fixed up or maybe a bad day last time I visited.
Delicious breakfast this morning - big serves and friendly service. Hollandaise perfect!
Coffee much better too. Thanks Embers.

Glad to be able to update!

Came for breakfast this morning at Embers...was a late breakfast at 10.30 the place was empty.
Full compliment of choices available I chose Eggs Benedict for $17 - a favourite and my husband the Phat Breakfast at $23 - (big breakfast with the usual).
Came out pretty quick, my hollandaise sauce was really thin and cracked ...the bread pretty hard to break though even pressing hard on the knife.
The Phat Breakfast was ok. Just ok.
Coffee...Fiori in a mug was bitter ...usually I like Fiori coffee but really bitter.
Service was friendly and good. Quick, polite not intrusive.

Walked in earlier this evening (Sunday) and had a great experience. We sat outside with the fire going and it was lovely and warm. Food was delicious but massive servings. We had a really great waitress as well, who was sweet and attentive but not intrusive. Will definitely be back!
Arthur Jones
Very tasty well sized meals. Fast friendly service. Tables available inside but we asked for an outside. No problem but would need to be done by a time. No drama depending on food service. All very relaxed and efficient
Mmmfood
Can't go past embers for a group dinner! Enough options to keep everyone happy. The food is yum and great value. Staff are attentive, but not over baring. One of our go-to places for dinner.
Michelle Davies
This establishment is always very busy so make sure you make a reservation as not to disappoint.

The meals are huge and very tasty, the service was very good with average prices for Perth, definitely would recommend.

I ate here on a beautiful stormy saturday, with my partner and friends :) I am originally from the hills and love the smell of rain when it hits the flora and the tarmac. Nothing beats it! So we sat outside this fine day :) After hearing people speak of Embers, I thought it would be worth the trip.
My 7 year old lad, had ordered the parmigiana, my partner the steak sandwhich and myself, I had the penne primavera.
Nothing to boast about, the pasta I had and the pasta a friend had ordered had absolutely no flavour.... I was really expecting something else. (I ended up having it contained and took it home to add my own sauce and a little more veg) The steak was pretty dry, again, lacking flavour. The girl that served us was very lovely though. :) very happy with the service, although the time from the pass too the table wasnt quick.
I won't be rushing back, but it was worth a try. The storm gives it an extra .5 of a point!

Having ate the Duck, Beetroot risotto I believe a whole Duck and several beetroot ended up on my plate with a teaspoon of rice !!! Now I'm a Duck fan and the combo went down well, but if your in for fine dining, this may not be your cup of tea and the slice of cheddar on top was .... odd ?? My partner went for the Festa Sana with chicken (and once again HUGE) with the chicken seasonings a little overpowering but overall, nice.
What this place is however, a classic local eatery for the cashed up working class serving GENEROUS portions at reasonable prices. Ladies your man won't go hungry here and there is an attempt at a dash of class. The decor is slightly dated and lots of hard surfaces (and out table wobbled Grrrr!! )mean its a tad noisy but its a warm, busy family and friends affair.
Plenty of food and drink options an eclectic atmosphere and if your not nit picking on fancy feast this place really hits the mark for a local eatery.
Perhaps a few tweaks on decor and the finesse of food, winding back on the flavourings and concentrating on quality of ingredients needed ? But really is value for money and the proof of popularity was the fact that it was packed.... what more need I say ... we couldn't eat everything but the affagato was done properly !!!
I judge on how it was but for what its designed to achieve 9/10.
Michael Farral
Excellent food, service, value. We have been twice in the past 6 weeks and have arranged a third time already. My wife and I are quite fussy so this alone speaks volumes about this venue. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
AJ
Brilliant for breakfast! The poached eggs are always perfect and the coffee is much better than next door.
The lack of mobile phone coverage gives a 'dining in the 90s' vibe.
Cookie
Have tried delivery from this restaurant several times and have always been pleased. Tonight we tried four different dishes and each of them were amazing. Great quality, excellent sized serves. What more can you ask for - great meals, great value for money and delivered right to your door!! Highly recommended. Thanks very much Embers!
Louocon
Pricey, but well worth it. Great Italian food, lovely wood-fired pizzas. You must book. Can be a bit noisy inside, outside can be nice. Wonderful puddings and great coffee. Recommend.
CiderCraze
Possibly the most well known restaurant amongst the hills people. Went there a few times, delish food, friendly service, it's just that it gets quite loud at night and we all had to yell at each other to be heard. Not a major problem so I'll definitely be back.
Carl Blackburdy
if you're looking for a good feed, not really after anything too fancy, this is the place for you. the decor much like the menu is very dated, very nineties. the portions are more than one can eat and the service is good. i can't really say much else, the food is okay, if you're after something new and exciting when it comes to food, don't bother, but if you want to leave the table feeling as stuffed as a pepper then make your booking now.
Jaguar FiveFour
Another great evening at Embers - we are never disappointed at this venue. Great welcome, excellent service, superb food and wine, and the ambience is spot-on. Thanks again Embers team and best wishes.
GeeFood
Worst $29 ever spent on take away pizza and garlic bread. Bread was more like salt and pepper bread, couldn't taste the garlic and it was chewy and dry. Pizza base also was very chewy and the special we had on one half tasted like cat food and had no cheese. Other half was the lamb with added fetta, which was ok but again, base ruined it and very greasy. Won't be returning.
Katrina
Too noisy. Excellent service, great food, BUT we had a table of 6 and we could not hear what each other was saying, such a noisy place, with nothing to absorb the noise. The last 2 times it was the same, have spoken to others who all felt the same, sorry but I wouldn't go again, if it was up to me to make the booking.
Purple Bling
Fantastic every time!. My husband and I have been going her for over 7 years and the food is very good quality and well priced. If there has ever been a minor muck up or we are left waiting long they always deal with it appropriately. No complaints here!!!
Facebook User
Over rated. This is a nice restaurant with large serving portions, the food is good but nothing exceptional..

Genrally overated and busy
Grillin
Fantastic. Great menu, Generous sized portions!

Recently had my birthday dinner here and couldn't have been happier with the service provided.

My partner and I have been to embers 4 times in the last 2 months and have ordered the fillet Mignon each time .
Every time it has been perfect not many restaurants can deliver like embers has for us so congratulations keep up the great work
Tony Attwood
Fantastic. Friends took us for a meal on Friday evening, I was so impressed with the embers Mignon my wife and I went back on the following Sunday. We were prepared to be disappointed as we did not expect the same meal to be as enjoyable as the first. Well we were proved wrong, the meal was once again as flavoursome as we remembered and the steak was cooked exactly as we had ordered. Well done to the staff for their friendly service and most of all thank you to the chefs for making it the most memorable meals we have had in some time.
Lucy
Great food, lovely & very friendly staff & very well priced. Keep up the good work Embers. We've never been let down yet after a 5 year following

Amazing. I had a lovely meal at embers tonight food was delicious large servings fast service will deffinantly be returning soon

Perfect for a cool Autumn night. A lovely cosy and unpretentious restaurant in the lovely perth hills. Lots of home style food presented in a rustic setting.
Meet Meat Malones
Had a horrible experience. Brought half our order out and forgot the rest so my wife ate on her own and then they brought the rest out 45 minutes later after we complained because we were wondering where it was. I was starving and the food wasn't good enough to make me want to finish it. I won't be eating there again. People think it's good because it's a hidden gem. It's our local and I wouldn't go out of my way to find it.

Trevor. Made a reservation to this establishment on Tuesday for dinner on Friday.arrived at 7:20 for a 7:30 booking, we were sat at a table between two doors (a bit like hay street traffic passing)admittedly it was busy, but when you book three days it advance you would expect a decent table out of the traffic.
Our food order was taken at 7:40 the food arrived at 8:40,if it was going to take an hour then I should have been advised of that fact.
My meal consisted of salmon with prawns and potato mash with salad,if you didn't tell me it was salmon I wouldn't have known,(over cooked and bland) the prawns were from China ,dry and tasteless ,the mash may have been instant as it had many lumps,(confirmed by others at the table)
All three meals were gaged poor considering what we had enjoyed previously
A different cook maybe.
My comment to the person accepting payment was s shrug of the shoulders,MAYBE THAT IS WHERE THE PROBLEM IS.
MAD
A real hidden gem! Very tasty menu and big servings for both entree and main. Fantastic service. Check it out!
Natasha Jade Morton
AMAZING. Brilliant pizza for great prices!
The woodfired pizza is A+.
Never left unsatisfied or disappointed!
Yum
Noisy With Disappointing Food. We were seated at a table by the wall which was a very peculiar shape. We had 3 people together with the 4th further away. As the noise was awful this made conversation difficult. The paella was ok but nothing more than you would throw together at home. The duck orange was inedible. The fish was good. There are better places around.

Amazing food !!!. We started off the night with lovely entrées beautifully plated followed by lovely mains all the staff were quite polite and helpful a all round lovely time we shall be returning soon.

Diner from Perth. Love this place!
Great ambiance, busy cafe with tasy meals. Highly recommend :)
Peta
Friendly and filling. Many years now of being an Embers regular... Both restaurant and take away. We dined friday night and although they where packed out the staff where amazingly friendly and helpful. The food as always was sensational. The pizza's are a must as is the homemade Tim Tam cheesecake!
Barb.teresa
FabFoodie. Warm beef salad was thickly coated with what tasted like black bean sauce and beef was thickly sliced pocket steak not sliced steak meat that is usually used in that dish. Very disappointed

-----16 Jan, 2015-----

Fab food feasters. Have to say our first experience at embers food wise was not to expectation. The warm beef salad totally overpowered with thick black bean sauce over sliced cooked beef rather than sliced steak. At $30 it was not worth the value. Other than that the service efficient friendly.
Peacock.janet
Food is excellent! and well priced. Whilst the wait staff were really pleasant, they were 'rushed off their feet' and this was evident in the way they 'rushed' around. One waiter (very pleasantly) stood over us whilst one of us finished the last mouthful of his entree to take the plates away!. The we left before we could order desert/coffee because we couldn't get the attention of a wait person. Air conditioning was cold where we were seated and blowing down on us. This was a Tuesday - Embers is very popular with the locals. Definitely a favourite - but more wait staff please.
Sean
Needs new menu(s)!. It's been here a while Embers, long enough to become a Hills' institution. It's original iteration was rubbish, but after coming under new ownership about five years ago it has been all plain sailing and a great night out. It is always packed - you have to book to get a table even on a Tuesday night and the locals clearly like it. As one of those locals I like it too - I have been numerous times and always come away happy. The service is always impeccable, the food is always good and they have a half decent booze list (always a plus). It isn't too expensive either. You won't get anything fancy at Embers - it is good, honest, wholesome food, served with a smile. A few of the dishes can be overly stodgy, but I've never had bad food there. The serves are invariably huge - don't bother with entrees if you want to be able to finish your mains and especially don't order bread unless you are really hungry, because they give you half a loaf. Long term faves for me are the Veal Saltimbocca, Chili Mussels, good old Spag Bol, or a simple steak cooked rare. They are good at cooking a bit of meat too and won't cock it up.

My only quibble is the menu(s). They haven't changed the menu (the food available in the restaurant), or the menus (the laminated list that tells you what that food is so you can order it) for years - I reckon since about 2011 at least. The physical menus are dog-eared, often sticky, stained and falling to bits - not a great advert for a great restaurant, and actually quite off-putting. The menu itself, despite the couple of specials they have on each night, holds no surprises. I'd love Embers to change it up a bit, get rid of a few dishes, add a few others, try some new things with the food they serve, and print it all up on some new bloody menus that I don't feel like I'm going to catch something off of.

Otherwise I love the place. Recommended.

Great food, great ambiance, great service, reasonable prices. Will be back soon.

A great Night. First time visitors to Embers Sat 4/10/14. From the moment we walked in and were greeted we fell in love with Embers. The service was excellent, attentive and non invasive. We would like to compliment the highest praise to Jay who looked after us the entire evening. The food was superb and delicious. Four different mains, plus oysters, garlic bread and wine. A great night thanks to Embers.
Ms_Subtle
When we first walked in, it took a little while to be served so at first I started to wonder how the experience was going to go! Once we were seated, the Embers staff recovered well! Our waitress did not bat an eyelid at some of our odd order requests and she was more than accommodating making sure that she had got it all right! The food, coffee and service were all highly rated by everyone in my group! Portion sizes are huge, tasty and some of our change requests from the standard menu options were all managed correctly and we were not charged the earth for additions or changes! I would definetly recommend a visit to Embers for anyone that is in the hills for brekky! We will be back, the dinner menu looks amazing!!
Anne
Having heard such good things about this restaurant we were very keen to try it, unfortunately the service on arrival was so bad we didn't stay to try the food. We waiting some minutes for some one to check our booking while at least 3 wait staff passed and not one said they'd be with us shortly.then when we were attended to we were shown to our table were senior citizen menus were all but thrown on the table and told she"d bring water shortly! Now we're not senior citizens and she didn't come back with water. Eventually a young male waiter came by to clear a nearby table and said he be with us shortly which he was . We told him about the menu and he brought another one with a sheepish apology. More minutes no order or water by this time we've decided this place is not for us - service too dreadful and we left.

Excellent food with casual dining experience. Coffee below average. Service below average.

Our family favourite. My wife and I (and our families) have been going to Embers for as long as I can remember. We have never had a bad staff member, bad meal or bad experience. The food and the service always impresses. Hats off.

For breakfast, lunch, dinner, takeaway or wood fired pizza an absolute must and worth the travel (if you have to).
M
This is my favourite place for breakfast in the hills. Fantastic coffee and I love the pancakes.

Ahh-mazing! !. My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant early July and we were thoroughly impressed!!....The waitress was polite and helpful and our meals were lovely. it was hard to make a decision after seeing so many delicious looking meals coming out of the kitchen. Only downfall...The bacon on fillet mignon was not wrapped around entire steak. other than that I would definitely go back here : )
Jaytee
Delish. Great food, great service. My husband and I went to Embers for his birthday and ordered a few different things to share. Everything was lovely and we left VERY full. Will most definitely be coming back :)
Dalilips
Tracey. Whatever you do, do not partake in the warm beef salad; the meat was so tough, I'm sure it had been reheated several times. On a busy night forget customer service, whilst the poor waitress was trying her best to provide it, it was obvious they were understaffed. The bill however was not. I've been to embers from time to time and the food has generally been quite good, must not have been the night for beef.

Little Gem in the hills. Great food. Great service. Very generous portions. Will definitely be back.

Kerry. First time at Embers last night & it was amazing, the vibe of the place was wonderful, the food was to die for, and great value for the generous size meals & the service was wonderful. We will be back again :)

Reputation Holds up. Been here a number of times for brekky (brilliant), but first time for tea last Saturday night and WOW, excellent! Won't say too much, but the service, service times and food were all great. We had a main of Tortellini and another main of saltimboca- both top class!
The atmosphere itself was cosy, great place for a wintery night
Cheers will definitely be back there for sure!
Russell
Mood Breaker.. Dined here on two occasions recently while on holidays in Perth.
Food and service faultless except on the second occasion two trolley loads of wine was wheeled through the dining room, by a delivery man.
Unforgivable.
Food
Best steak I have ever had and amazing breakfasts. Highly recommended

TUESDAY TREAT!!. I almost didn't want to write how good this place for fear we wouldn't ever get a table, but it's obvious the secret is out! Waiters...excellent. Food...brilliant. Atmosphere...great. Dessert...the best!! Thanks Embers, we'll be back.

Loved it. This is the best restaurant meal we have had in Australia since we arrived 3 years ago. The food was perfect, the staff were pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wine. The premises were great for families and singles alike and the place was buzzing. The prices were great for the quality of food and service we received. We loved it. Will definitely be back.

Top Quality - Great Menu. This place was buzzing when we tried it out and for good reason. The menu itself boasts impressive variety and leaves you struggling to decide while planning your next visit. Staff were clearly under pressure but operated like a well-oiled machine, attentive and efficient.

My wife and I started with the bruschetta (an important benchmark for italian) and it was great. Simple flavours and fresh ingredients made for an appealing appetizer. I ordered the Grancho pasta and my wife the special mussels. Both had kick and left you satisfied. Again the simple flavours and fresh ingredients shone through. We finished with the Cointreau choc mousse. Divine and a great cleanser after the chili goodness.

If you are going to drive out to the Perth hills - make sure you stop in here.

I'd rather starve than eat at this restaurant. Shows a lack of love and technique. Presentation of food is disgraceful. Very ignorant staff, felt my partner and I were invisible, and seriously the owner needs to use manners, extremely impolite. I'll never be back.

Service highlight.. Went to Embers for Lunch last Friday.

Service was great, as soon as we walked in we had friendly staff greet us so that's always a sweet plus.
Had the T-bone steak with creamy mushroom sauce - asked for medium but got well done.. not THAT big of a problem but something that should probably be taken into account next time. I didn't want to bother them and ask it to be re-done seeing as they were busy as it was, so I decided to just enjoy the steak instead.

Food still tasted amazing despite the small mishap.

The atmosphere here is great also - aside from having to forcefully yawn to pop my ears every 10-20 seconds, but hey, that's not their fault!
It's a nice place to come. I wish it was closer to where I live.

I'll definitely be back to try something else on the menu.

Didn't get order correct again. I ordered takeway pizza's and meals for 6 of us. They didn't get the order right and then said for us to come back and pay more for them to rectify the order!!
You would think they would offer the part they missed out for free. They had got the previous order wrong as well.
Won't be going back.

I love embers woo. Went for dinner last week and the food was out quickly and was delicious, good service, very generous servings and Embers has a lot of great options on the menu, would recommend :~)

Such a fan. Had a wonderful night at Embers last night, the food was fantastic as was the service. Have been coming here for awhile and have never been disappointed. Embers is top of my list of places to eat in Kalamunda.

Sizzler style restaurant priced as fine dining. Went to this restaurant last night. My friend's wine was off. She took a while to notice. The waitress offered to replace it which she did. Then the owner came over to tell us we had waited too long, we'd drunk half the glass and would now have to pay for the replacement. Then she accused us of trying to get a 'freebie' after spending $70 a head on food! We were furious. The restaurant was Embers, Kalamunda, the food was over-priced, Sizzler-style, pretentious, not even fresh pasta, bastardised-Italian. Don't go there. Ever.

Love it!. We get take out from Embers quite often on weekends and are never disappointed! Although it's not the cheapest option, the servings are huge (always have leftovers) and always taste amazing. I often get the fish and chips which never dissapoints. Sometimes the food can take a while to be ready but that's expected on a Friday night. Would recommend.

I'm consistently impressed with this place and it's become my favourite Perth restaurant. When I sometimes consider setting up my own restaurant I think of the effort that these two sisters must put in to make such a great restaurant and I'm put off!! It isn't cheap but the value is there: whatever I've ordered has been excellent. Seafood, pork ribs, T bone, pasta. It knocks spots off Jaimie's!! Service is efficient - without any sense that they want us out. Can't think of any criticism....!

Fab Food and Service. Beautiful food, great menu. Staff are friendly and efficient. Only downside is the hard seating and the outside area could be spruced up. Still wouldnt put me off going again though.
Very homely and relaxed dinner atmosphere

Great atmosphere and homely food and will definitely go back. Only downside was the hard seating but otherwise great.
