Reviews Gordons At Gordon

Looking for a bite to eat on our way to Melbourne we followed the "eat, sleep, phone" sign, off the freeway, expecting to find a bakery or small local takeaway. Drove past the pub, the general store and stumbled on a cafe sign. When we got inside the friendly staff welcomed us, and we took in the funky surroundings, then the scrumptious menu. This is no pie and sausage roll cafe but a lovingly put together local eatery that caters for locals and travellers, the burgeoning business of two ex-Melburnians looking for a better lifestyle and community. We had a lamb hot pot and beef, mushroom and merlot hot pot. And excellent coffee. Yum! What a gem. If you're traveling by Gordon, make a point of stopping here on your way to wherever. You will travel a long way to find a more pleasant place.

Fantastic to see an iconic building revitalised by two great guys - and their amazing staff! Lovely food - and it is already well patronised by the locals...so I reckon that's a sure sign that it is one great place to meet friends, eat delicious food and enjoy a refreshing drink - whatever your persuasion!

We had no prior knowledge and found this sweet place on the net. It happened to be pretty central to the different arms of our family so we booked a table via messenger and everyone caught up for Sunday lunch. Kevin, you were the perfect host and the local Pork was oh so goooood. Thank you for having us, I want all my friends to know we have been spoiled you and your staff. Never can I pass Gordon without stopping in for a lunch break. See you soon! All the best from the JENKIN Clan.

Popped in for lunch last Sunday. I had the chicken and asparagus and what a delight that was. A good coffee and a free mulled wine. Very friendly staff only to happy to tell you of the history (old pub) of the building. We will be back!

Loved the welcoming ambiance with a quirky twist, friendly service, pop up entertainment and the yummy, yummy sparkling red wine and dinner. Can not wait for lazy summer days on the verandah but until then... I will be back every chance I get. Cheers to you Sal, Kevin, Scott and Shane

What a delightful surprise. A gem that is plain on the historical outside but exuding charm, character and a surprising menu with each dish creative and deliciously flavoursome. Add to that the charming host and brillant chef and friendly staff, you just cant go wrong. All in all, we highly recommend this cafe. It is one of those 'must' visits when in the area. Perhaps we will see you there as we intend to go back.

We loved our meals, and it was great friendly service. It was interesting walking in looking off the sides to extra inviting rooms then into the main eating area. Would highly recommended calling in for a cuppa or a very satisfying meal.

On to way to Melbourne from Adelaide called in for Breakfast (never been to Gordon ever). The coolest little gem off the freeway. Great breakfast coffee and the friendliest service. Thanks lads. (Even the best music - found a new band Vintage Trouble)

What a joy and delight this hidden gem is in the little town of Gordon. The menu is middle eastern in persuasion with the most delicious twists. We had the generous servings of Sweet Potato Fritters and the Deconstructed Felafel which were moist and full of flavour. For dessert we had little bliss bombs of Turkish Delights and a nest of baklava. Yum Yum! Atmosphere and decor is warm, homey, eclectic cool. There is even an old typewriter to polish your speed typing skills with! Just loved every minute. Thankyou Sal and Scott!

Food was delicious. Unfortunately an incorrect order, I was after the chicken schwarmer but one chef was off sick and there was shortage of supplies in the pantry. I can't wait to go back and have the beef salona dish:)
