Got the whole chicken meal $25.90
Most of the pieces of chicken were juicy and tender, except for the breast. Famous for their garlic sauce, definitely worth a try!
Taste: 4/5
Value: 4/5
Where there is crispy chicken 🍗, you’ll usually see me there 😂 I think I like the crispy chicken at El Jannah more than their charcoal (I find it a little too dry) 🤔 I tried their new store on Cumberland Highway but there's no zomato account so I'll review the closest one to me. Similar breading to KFC but more peppery which I enjoy! Honestly I would come back just for their garlic sauce cause I love it so much!!
Probably a favourite for many and is the go to charcoal chicken place. I do occasionally enjoy the visit here but do prefer other restaurants.
But the reputation and history of this place is assuring that they serve charcoal chicken well.
Sometimes the chicken is dry and I do find the place can become complacent from being considered at the top. But I do believe when they're at their A game, they'll do well. It's the reason why everyone knows of this place.
Dropped in late Sunday night for quick dinner, ordered quarter chicken and Tabouli salad set.
OMG this was best charcoal chicken I have ever tasted!! Not to mention absolutely amazing Tabbouleh and the garlic sauce! it was sooo heavenly! I was in total bliss while I was eating! The place is eat and dash kind of place with no ambiance but food is just top quality. Definitely coming back for more when I am in the area.
There is nothing like a decent Lebanese meal, and the smell of smokey charcoal combined with the earth flavours of hummus, garlic sauce, tabouli, falafel, pickles and of course perfectly cooked chicken.
Can’t say anything wrong about this place.Simply love their grilled chicken with the best garlic dip I have had ever. The place is usually busy but the service is quick and efficient.Value for money!!
Excellent meal to enjoy with a buddy. Provided a good serving of garlic sauce and pickles, and very generous with the chicken salt on the fries. Though the chicken was a bit dry to my liking.
Charcoal chicken is really good. Nice smokey flavour every more and again you may get a piece that are a tad dry.
The tabouli was delicious and the garlic sauce is amazing (could bathe in that garlic sauce).
Would recommend for a good chicken feed.
The french fries are very very great! The chicken are soooo juicy and crispy! You can eat the chicken only or with bread. Both are great way to taste the chicken! Perfecto!
One of the best restaurants for Lebanese cuisine. Had been with wife for Shawarma Roll, Tawouk Roll Chicken Breast, Chicken Roll, Falafel Roll and regular chips.
The Lebanese bread was accurately cooked and all the rolls were nicely stuffed in it with pickles, sauces, vegetables and chicken. A wonderful taste and juicy. Of these, Shawarma roll and Tawouk Roll Chicken Breast were magnificent.
Regular chips are worth in taste and price. The size is large, crispy and medium salted. The serving size is enough for 2 people.
The staff is courteous, polite and quick enough to provide the service.
Overall, it was a lovely experience and a must visit place to explore the Lebanese cuisine.
Best chicken in the world!!
Very nice tabouli
Food comes quick
This place is always busy for good reasons
Cash only but there's a CBA branch close by
incredible!! got takeaway and even after a 45 minute car-ride, everything tasted delicious! the chicken was fantastic - great flavour and perfectly roasted. the babaganoush with pita and meat was absolutely amazing but the best thing that just topped it all off was the GARLIC SAUCE!! i wish i could always have a tub of that in the fridge at all times because it seriously made everything taste 100x better - definitely will be coming back i only hope to be a regular if it wasnt so far away
Needless to say about their grilled chicken. Prices are very affordable.well cooked, good marination and tender soft chickens. Garlic dip is hit. Wraps and salad platter is very good. Inspite being busy the service is great, food is quickly served.very good option if u r on diet to eat the grilled chicken . Must visit
The whole experience was nothing short of perfection. It was so good that we had to go back the following day to get more. Inexpensive with a great vibe and the best tasting charcoal chicken I’ve had! Not to forget the creamy, rich garlic sauce! It’s to die for. Wish there was one in Melbourne!!!
The garlic loving Lebanese inside me is satisfied. 🥰 No matter how busy the place is the food is always cooked perfectly. This is my go-to grilled chicken place always.
I went to el jannah on a weekend and obviously it was packed so decided to get a take away.. just ordered a chicken... ok let me tell you guys.. my husband and I are chicken lovers and this charcoal chicken took away our hearts ♥️! The best by far we have had! But one thing I really don’t understand is that if you sit in and have the meal they charge u around $20-$22 and if u get a take away, it’s for $13! Just that they give you bread and pickles along if u r having it there.. really! Around $7 just for bread and pickles!!!?? I feel that’s a little too much..
except that the chicken is fantastic! I had their chicken burger.. I dint find anything great about it.. it was just a normal burger you get anywhere.. it wasn’t bad.. nor was it something good. The place is lively and fresh .. mostly busy ..
It’s hard not to make the 2 hour travel to get here cause it’s so addictive. The garlic sauce, the chicken and the speed of service. I could eat the pickles all day. Move to the northern beaches please.
My first at EL Jannah and i must say, i was really missing out on some great food. There kebabs were really well marinated and tender. The service was fast and they have nudt opened extra seating a little bit ahead from the original place. Would be going back for sure. We had ordered family pack and 4 of had plenty to eat.
best chiken in town , if you like chicken you love Middle East food pls come and try the chicken here . Open until late . Good food , good chicken
If you’re looking for quick and delicious meal, El Jannah is the place! The chicken is Smokey and crispy. The fries are crunchy and seasoned with delicious chicken salt. The garlic sauce is a must as well!
Nice food but on the salty side, especially the chicken. The garlic sauce is good. Love it with the chips. Falafel were great, best ones I had so far.

BEST GARLIC SAUCE & WRAP ❤️😍
Must Order: whole chicken, garlic sauce, hummus sauce, french fries!!
The best thing is to mix them all in one wrap (for free).
Queue can be long but food is as quick as 10 mins.
Always my favorite!! Chicken and garlic sauce all time favorite!! Best cheap food place in Sydney!! Only thing I don't like is chips not crispy.. so yeah Overall good and best cheap food to dine in.
I think the chicken used to be juicier, but it is still smoky and flavourful when I went back last week.
Loved the garlic sauce, best i've had! And the chips are really good too, very crunchy and generous portion.
Not going to be picky with what i'm paying, very happy with our meal.
With all the hype around this place I had to try it and I finally had the time to visit this place. The chicken being the most famous dish, I ordered a portion of chicken roast and some falafels and shawarmas for the night. To my disappointment, the chicken was nothing special and tasted like any other roast. Out of the rolls, I like the lamb roll the most as it was very tender and went well with the sauces. Pocket friendly place but not worth the travel.
The restaurant is famous for its grilled chicken and garlic sauce. A lot of people eat in and buy takeaway. The fattoush salad and pickle are very nice too. Friends packed the chicken & garlic sauce into esky and took them back to HongKong.
The food was okay but not worth the hour wait outside in the rain. The staff were slow and a tad lazy but we didn’t have to wait toooo long for food but it would be nice
Lovvee the chicken.. but more than that their garlic dip.. a perfect place to have a delicious lunch, which is pocket friendly too.. highly recommended
Hands down the best garlic dip I’ve ever had. Their baba ganoush and hummus were also very good (but then again, I’m a sucker for dips). Their chicken is soooo good with the garlic dip and chips. Ask, ask for chilli sauce.
El Jannah has the best charcoal chicken and garlic sauce compared to any charcoal chicken store in Sydney. They know what they are doing and I have not found any place that can beat their iconic garlic sauce.
The best charcoal chicken in Sydney. The chicken has a hint of zest to it. I’m guessing it is some kind of fruity marinade they use. Couple that with silky smooth garlic sauce and it’s a winning combination. I’ve been to other middle eastern places that only specialise in the garlic and it never tastes the same as this place. Only downside is it is very busy and not much parking. I tend to have better luck at their Punchbowl restaurant.
As for the chicken, the meat is tender, but it’s the skin that’s the real winner. Rubbed with their secret marinade and roasted over charcoal, it lifts pristinely off the chicken in a whole gloriously golden shard, and disintegrates in the mouth with a burst of lemon and spices, and just the right amount of fattiness. It is miles more flavoursome than anything you could get from a local chook shop, and wrapped in pita with garlic sauce and pickles, becomes the epitome of simple perfection.
Best charcoal chicken I had over time.We had charcoal chicken, falafel, hummus with Lebanese bread. The food was yummilicious. And the best part is it had only cost $29 for two people.
The Sydney Mecca of Charcoal chicken! It's 5pm on Sunday afternoon, too early for dinner, but the place was already packed with people. The got a quarter chicken to eat in (which came with Lebanese bread, garlic sauce & pickles), and another half a chicken for takeaway. The chicken was delicious, juicy & very flavoursome, smokiness from the charcoal. What made it truely amazing is eating it all together with the Lebanese bread with the garlic sauce & a piece of pickle. Yumminess is indescribable! The best think about this is that it cost only about $13! That's including half a chicken takeaway. Can't beat that!
It’s a big call, but I’m saying this place has the best chicken in Sydney. Even the usually inedible parts of the chicken taste great at this place due to the delicious crispy, tasty skin.
The garlic sauce is the other outstanding thing about this place.
We always come here to order food for team events! The chicken is delicious and is the best amongst it's competitors. Do not go without as much garlic sauce as possible!
Hands down the best charcoal chicken place! Always having massive cravings for their chicken and garlic sauce! I really love their tawouk and chicken rolls! Soo juicy and tender! The sauce and veggies inside balances out soo well with the chicken! Tastes absolutely amazing! Their chips are also very fresh and yummy! Their service is quick and friendly! Downside is they only accept cash! But it is definitely 100% worth a visit!
Best chicken I've tasted in a long long time. Quick service and the chicken has that nice charcoal burn on the outside and is so succulent. The garlic sauce is legendary. My mouth is watering writing this review. Go and do it - now.

First time eating here, drove 40 minutes plus toll and was worth it. Arrived at around 9ish pm, ordered a 1/2 chicken meal, only waited for like 5 mins and the dish is ready. Chicken is amazing good!! Remember to dip into the garlic sauce and eat it!!! Super tasty garlic sauce!!!!!!! Will definitely come back another time 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thought of trying this place looking at the reviews. Did a takeaway because this place was absolutely crowded and people had queued up being a sunday! Enjoy the chicken, garlic sauce and baba ganoush! Will DEFINITELY go back to try hommus and falafel with tabouleh salad!!! Waiiiiiting!!
Very popular charcoal chicken joint and my personal favourite
Line moves quickly and food is served very quickly. The garlic sauce and chips are amazing and I love that the chicken isn't too burnt unlike some other charcoal chicken stores.
Plenty of seating available.
This is one of our go to place being close to home! Very good places and quick service Inspite of being crowded all the time!! Lovely portion size and good price!
Always come here for my charcoal chicken and nowhere else. Always ordered either 1/4 chicken with Small chips OR Tawouk Roll with Small Chips OR Chicken Roll. Would recommend to add cheese and spicy sauce to your rolls. and there service is so fast, afte seated for 1-2 mins, your chips and chicken are out. However your wrap takes about 5 mins. But it is indeed quick.
This is Mecca for chicken lover. Just Order chargrilled chicken and you will not be disappointed.
We tried falafel role and loved that too .
My go-to place for a Lebanese feast. Charcoal chicken with the best garlic sauce ever! I also love the chips here with the chicken salt (and garlic sauce, of course!). This time around I decided to try the EJ platter consisting of 3 skewers, Leb bread, chips and I also asked for hummus. We also ordered the Mediterranean salad which was surprisingly so so good. I always come here for their chicken rolls and their falafels are also really good. If you’re looking for a solid feed and for the best garlic sauce, this is the place to be! The only criticism I have is that its cash only!!
Best Lebanese food!!
Charcoal chicken was yum along with pickled salad, khaboos and garlic dipping.
Orderd a tabouli salad as well.
This meal is sure to keep u full throughout the day👍🏻
Look forward to visit this place again😍
Only problem is that cards aren’t accepted for payment. Please carry cash!!
I’ve made a stop here at least once a year for many years.
Great charcoal chicken but a bit too salty for me. Pickles also salty.
Great chips when fresh.
The best part is the garlic toum.
Pretty unbeatable price point, but they are steadily rising.
FOOD = 3.5
AMBIENCE 2.5

Amazing charcoal chicken with fresh bread and pickle. The garlic sauce is amazing and cant get enough of it. A great place for cheap eats... and this place does it
El Jannah provides an atmosphere and flavour that has made the chicken shop iconic. Speak to Sydney locals and surely they've tried or heard of El Jannah. The chicken is great, along with the tabouleh and toum/garlic sauce. The service isn't spectacular but the food is always consistently good! I've eaten here for years and will continue to do so!
Been there various times and the food is never below an exceptional standard. The restaurant is innovative and always looking for ways to become better. Service is decent but it is definitely worth the wait.
The original and the best. No one else comes close to making chicken as good as El Jannah. Not to mention the garlic sauce being as good as it gets in Sydney. The shawarma rolls with the pickles is also another worth the 1hr drive here. Everybody else are just pretenders!!!
El Jannah is a cult classic and for a good reason. The food is fresh, the atmosphere is casual and the service is fast. I had the 1/2 meal eat-in option which featured 2 pieces of chicken (thigh and breast), side of pickles and turnips, garlic sauce and 2 pieces of Lebanese bread (~$11.90) with the addition of chips ($5.90) and 3 falafel balls ($3). By golly, if you thought the chicken was great, the falafel balls will blow your socks off. I had the misfortune of sharing this and would have put up a fight for the last ball 🏀 ;) Everything was great, the chicken breast meat was a little on the dry side but had a great smokey flavour. And finally, why bother with secret szechuan sauce when you've been blessed with El Jannah's garlic magic?
Charcoal chicken is one of the things I really miss about living in Western Sydney. It’s just not the same in Melbourne!
We ordered the takeaway whole chicken pack with chips, pickles and garlic sauce for $23.90 - great value but wish I remembered to add some bread.
The chicken was lovely and juicy but the hero is 100% the amazing garlic sauce. Worth traveling for!!
Every Sydney trip i have it is a must to come here! Absolutely love this place, great chicken especially when paired with the incredible garlic sauce!! The pickled veg on the side is nice too. Service is fast, always super busy but never had much trouble trying to find a seat to eat!
I find El Jannah pretty hit and miss. The garlic sauce is good.. but not sure it’s as good as people are raving about?!?
Sometimes the chicken is nice and moist and the skin is nice, but last time we went the skin was super super salty and I had to peel it off.
Plus side is the chips are good and they put a good amount of chicken salt on it. 👌🏼
Seriously the best chicken in Sydney. People from all over the city confluence to this haunt for their share of Lebanese charcoal chicken, tasty garlic, crunchy chips and the smoothest humus. It can be a bottle-neck of patrons so be ready to navigate crowds and wrangle for a table. But its totally worth it!
Ordered:
1. Whole chicken that comes with chips, bread, pickle veggies and garlic sauce - the chicken is tasty, the chips is good and not too oily, the garlic sauce goes very well with the chips and the bread, the pickle veggie is too salty. What differentiate this place to other chicken restaurant is their bread and garlic sauce. I crave the food here from time to time and will drive 45min to this place just to satisfy my cravings. I wish they can open a store on the north side of Sydney.
Will I go back: yes
I can see why this place is always busy and can see why people rave about their garlic sauce. Tried them for the first time today and this is perfect for comfort food. Very generous portion and the service was super quick and well managed. The garlic sauce is perfectly paired with the chicken and chips, creamy and so much garlic goodness. Wanted to give 5 starts but the only inconvenience was that they don’t accept EFPOS and only accepts cash.
I absolutely love the chicken here! Beautiful, beautiful and the garlic sauce as well! Yum! Would go here again and again for the chicken and the garlic!
We ordered 1/2 a charcoal chicken and a falafel plate. It comes with freshly made soft pita bread too! What a bonus. The charcoal chicken is to-die-for. Crispy skin. Well seasoned. Kinda wish we got a whole chicken hehe.
Generous serve. We actually shared the two dishes between the two of us!
The garlic dip is super garlicky and yummy. Paired with gherkin and charcoal chicken in a wrap, Delish.
Home made falafel with tahini dip is just delicious.
Wish there is an El Jahnah in the CBD! It's a family friendly place for really tasty cheap eats. It's worthy the 40min drive from Surry Hills to Granville!
The best charcoal chicken out!! Great for a late dinner, it is usually very busy but their garlic sauce dipped with bread and chicken is absolutely amazing! Would definitely recommend this place to everyone (it is also conveniently located near a train station)
The best and has always been my favourite charcoal chicken in Sydney. The place is always crowded and finding parking nearby can be hard. Very handy if you take the train to go there as it's closed to the station. If you haven't tried El Jannah, you're missing out big time!
There garlic sauce is so good that a fried piece of cowdung will taste delicious when dipped in it. Stick to the chicken and fries with the sauce, there beef and chicken rolls are not that great.
✔️I will never understand any bad/average reviews for this place. Best charcoal chicken in Sydney, always fresh and juicy. They also have amazing rolls and their chips are heaven covered in chicken salt. Service is always extremely quick (never over 15 minutes) regardless of the fact that their shop is jam-packed with people any hour of the day/night.

Heard alot from this place from my hubby as he is a non veg lover. Was excited to try this place since I came here. Since the weather being cold decided to bring a takeaway. This restaurant is located a bit far away but since the food is tasty so decided to try it.
We got half grilled chicken with garlic sauce and Pita bread to go with it. It was simply yum and the quantity was too good. Also brought the chicken rolled which was filling and yummmy too.
Service gets delayed few times due to the crowd on weekends but otherwise it's good. Pricing too is ok.
Will definitely want to try more food stuffs from here.
A very happening place which serves excellent chicken.
Good ambiance has indoor and outdoor seating and very near to the station.
I am simply in love with the garlic mayo sauce served along with the charcoal chicken..the taste is perfect :)
Seriously, this restaurant is the place to be if you want Charcoal Chicken. The food here tastes like heaven and nobody can ever replace their garlic sauce. EVER. I mean, it's garlicky and creamy and just works so well with the chicken.
The chicken itself is cooked to perfection with crispy skin sealing the deal. Put it in Lebanese bread and spread garlic sauce - it's a wrap having the best of both worlds. Their hot chips with chicken salt are the perfect companion because life is meaningless without potatoes. And let's face it, your life improves exponentially if your chips have the right amount of chicken salt. El Jannah never fails in that regard.
If you've been to Granville and haven't been here yet then you've lost the plot. Skipping this restaurant is like Santa forgetting to give gifts on Christmas Day. You had me at garlic sauce, El Jannah.
A good place for charcoal chicken in Granville right opposite to train station. Mostly busy. Their garlic sauce is the best. Make sure you order a whole chicken deal. Comes with hot 🍟 Lebanese bread, pickle & drink
First time having El Jannah's and it was an amazing experience. The garlic aioli sauce is to die for. We bought two chickens and two large fries at an affordable price and I got into a food coma shortly after.
The chicken was good, moist and tasty. The food was brought out ver quickly. I'm a regular and have been going for years now, still perfect every time.
The best. My wife and I eat here regularly after going hiking. EJ platter is huge and contains enough food for 3 and only costs about $20. Get a side of tabouli. The freshness of tabouli balances out the platter well. Also recommend their charcoal chicken.
What can you say about this place. Amazing chicken and famously good garlic sauce.
Simple menu and great prices. You can easily tell why this place is so popular.
Cash only which is a bit annoying but if you are in the area then you should definitely try El Jannah. Bring your appetite!
By far BEST rolls in Sydney.. would definitely visit again.
Highly recommended for roll lovers. An additional chips roll for veggies..
4* for inconvenience of cash only option

Having feasted on a neighbouring chook joint (hawa), we trekked across the road to sample ej jannah, wanting a back to back comparo, carrying our 3/4 full belly. Scroll dwn for summary😆.
Place was just hitting its stride as we arrived at the start of lunch time. We ordered almost identical stuffs as in hawa: chooks meal (comes w pickles fries pocket pita bread requisite garlic sauce n a soft drink), lamb soujouk (as opposed to lamb skewer at hawa) and beef shawarma (didnt order at hawa). After a short Q n a longer than expected wait for my no to be shouted, we eagerly dug into the chooks. On 1st bite, the chicken at el j struck us as having more punch and flavour, more charred aroma and no less juicy than hawa's. Depending on your mood, you may find the intimate setting reinforces your enjoyment of your meal at el j. Service wise, they are efficient n wee more hectic than hawa (perhaps due to us coming at proper lunch time rather than before as we did at hawa).
In short: el j pumps out more kick to its chicken offerings than hawa. Hard to pick which is juicier as that seems to be some bone of contentions among lovers of leb chooks. El j is smaller in venue than hawa which might be more conducive to the atmosphere when dining in. Hawa is more relaxed as it is at least 2.5 times bigger.
Why should you go here: Tasty moist chicken and epic garlic sauce
Food quality: Super tasty!
Portion size: Just right. Chicken is self explanatory and the rolls may look small but are super filling
Customer service: Quick and fast
Dinning experience: Cramped and noisy but the food makes up for it
Value for money: Decent
It is the garlic sauce that brings me back here time and time again. I mean it goes beautifully with their delicious and succulent chicken, which I too love to bits. I enjoy the rolls from here too, which are a great lunch item off the menu. The seekh plates are fantastic as well, and well made. Now of course this is in no way a fancy restaurant, so do not expect fancy presentation. It's good food, for a great price and they are going to serve just how it is. The service is fairly quick considering the volume of customers that come through, and they are nice as well. The restaurant itself remind me of a diner, and isn't exactly the most inviting of places... but then again it's not exactly designed for that purpose. I'm yet to see empty tables here at El Jannah, so that speaks for something. Personally, I prefer always getting takeout from here and eating at home, however. Trust me.. go for the delicious, crispy, smokey and tender chicken and that irresistible garlic sauce.
I love ❤️ El Jannah's garlic sauce chicken!! The cultish Lebanese chicken is so memorable and addictive....I actually drove all the way to Granville just to get their chicken.
Smokey charcoal chicken, creamy garlic sauce, fresh tabbouleh; a perfect combination any time of the day.
Service is super quick, owing to the busy and crowded environment.
Yum. Chicken, chips, tabouli, pickles and garlic sauce all wrapped up in Lebanese bread. The best. Takeaway service was quick and food awesome. I just wish there was one closer to the inner west where I live!
Top place to be. Chicken is well served, portion is good, chicken flavoursome and not dry. Always nice to come to el jannahs. Can never go wrong and also with nice staff members.
Garlic sauce is a MUST. Whether you're having chips or just chicken, get the garlic sauce. Chips are good, pickles are good (if you like that stuff like me), but I think the charcoal chicken is overhyped. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the chicken, but needs the garlic sauce. Good service, friendly staff, new renovations are always good.
TL;DR : GARLIC SAUCE, GARLIC SAUCE, GARLIC SAUCE!
This place "always hits the spot". The best chicken round. They're very consistent with flavour and the quality of food. It always tastes as good as it did today.
The price is perfectly adequate. We paid about $52 for a family meal with drinks etc. The staff are friendly. Every time I brought anyone here I haven't been let down.
The sauce is to die for. Expect to smell like garlic.
Service was quick and the food was delicious as always. Large portions and chips were overfilled. Someone was on hand cleaning tables and felt safe eating outside the restaurant. Inside however it was crowded and no way of social distancing whatsoever. Given this current climate, it's the only downside of visiting the restaurant.
They have the best charcoal chicken ever the food her is awesome, I am so pleased with the lovely food and service. Fast service you don't wit long to get served your food. Overall I am very satisfied with the service food quality and everything.
An absolute classic, with their family sized meals are to die for!! I went to this local legend after 6 years and was amazed to see the nicely renovated sitting area and friendly staff despite the crowd!! Must visit if you're in Sydney!!
The original and best. Refurbed decor is great. Food is iconic. There's nothing like El Jannah chicken with some raddish, chips and garlic sauce on leb bread.
El Jannah Granville recently had a facelift and it is beautiful! The food is yummy as always! We ordered a Family Meal and added on a tabouli and 3 chicken tenders.
Restaurant looks good and clean. Signature charcoal chicken is one of the best in town, but employee services are not good and unfriendly, especially to me who is the only Chinese with a mask on. Need further training and improvement on customer service.
