Review Peppercorn Thai Restaurant - Greensborough

Lauris Jones
It's a real pleasure to dine here. A long standing favourite, relaxed atmosphere but the quality of the food and fine flavours is excellent. We shared beef and chicken curry puffs, deliciously light and tasty. (Forgot to take photos of these and the menu). Then scallops with vegetables in a ginger sauce. Very tender, plump scallops too. Better cooked than at other better restaurants. Then fried noodles with chicken and beef, and a glass or two of Chardonnay. Attentive service, nothing disappointed. Didnt need to book for an impromptu decision to dine out. We'll definitely dine here again. Highly recommended.

First time diner with my family and what a lovely restaurant. We live locally and decided to give peppercorn Thai restaurants a go. What fantastic service, very professional, attentive but not overbearing. Well priced and the food was delicious. We will definitely be returning and I think this will become our go to for Thai food. I'm glad we tried this local gem and sorry we didn't find it earlier. Will be certainly recommending this restaurant to others. Thank you for a lovely dining experience. We've missed the in house dining and this restaurant certainly delivers on all levels.

Really delicious local Thai. Every dish was so tasty!! Thank you

Super tasty food!! The service is amazing!!!! They are all so sweet yet not too over bearing. You never have an empty glass of water. They even open the doors for you as you leave. I can’t recommend them enough!!

Highly recommended Thai Restaurant. We ordered 2 tomyum soups (chicken and seafood), beef salad, crispy skin Salmon in tamarind sauce (chef’s recommendation) and a large rice. The tomyum soups taste good. Beef salad was a bit on the salty side but the beef was very tender. Crispy skin salmon is cooked just right and delicious. Very appetizing in the tamarind sauce. Very authentic Thai flavours. The staffs (not sure if its the owners or manager or just regular waiting staff) were very polite and attentive. Food came at a reasonable time and served hot. Prices are mid range but for such good authentic thai food, I’ll say it’s worth it. Will definitely be back to try out other dishes.
Supattra SRI.
We will come back again for sure good foods and good service

My wife and I order Peppercorn Thai almost weekly and it is superb week in, week out. We experimented with other similar restaurants locally and found that hands down this place provides the greatest value due to the large portions of delicious food. During non-lockdown times, we came here a couple of times and found the owner and staff friendly. If you are looking to get Thai food in the Greensborough area, then don't miss out on trying this place as you won't be disappointed.

Had takeaway from here a few times and eaten in once. Food is always excellent, and the service just as good. You can tell fresh and good quality ingredients are always used. Flavours are delicious and there's great variety on the menu, including some less common items.

We had take away which arrived hot. The yellow curry was good as were the vegetarian spring rolls. The pad Thai was very dry and the coconut rice was gluggy and bland. Disappointing.
Claudia Wilson
Been there before & definitely did not disappoint. Service was great & food delicious.

Just a big shout out to the restaurant manager, slight miscommunication when we did a phone order... he could of pushed the point and made me pay again for the correct meal but when I arrived he said it was not a problem and had the replacement meal just about ready to go. These guys are great, please give them your custom :)

Our go to restaurant. Best Thai in the NorthEast. Food is always lovely and service very polite and efficient.

Some of the most beautiful, flavorsome, and fresh Thai food I have ever had. The staff are also very warm and welcoming, and after being a customer of Royal Orchid Thai in Port Melbourne many years ago (dink days), I am thrilled Peppercorn has come to Greensborough!
Nina Kurta
Some of the best Thai we have had! Highly recommend

Interior is lovely, tableware was beautiful. Nice variety of food on the menu. Bit on the pricier side though. Penang curry was delicious. Roti was nice. Coconut rice was so so good! Really delicious.

I love Pad Thai for its sweet flavour but the Pad Thai we had here (or at least the one we had tonight) was just too sweet! Almost sickly. Other than that it was a pleasant dining experience.. but i think there are better Thai restaurants around for cheaper.

The decor is very nice and the staff are attentive and polite. The food came out at a reasonable speed. But I have to say, for Thai cuisine, it's incredibly expensive. For what we ordered it was close to double the price for what we'd pay if we go to Rimthang down Main St. (And additionally the curry is a smaller serving at Peppercorn). Would go here, if I had money to spend. Food is good all in all.

One of our favourite Thai restaurants. Peppercorns coconut rice is one of the best in Melbourne and they happily accomodate for any food intolerances. Try the Thai Greeny curry and the Pad Thai 👍🏻
Hangry Mama
I managed to meet up with a friend here for dinner last night. We were lucky enough get in just before the dinner rush. It's a cosy little restaurant and we were grateful for the immediate warmth that greeted us when we walked through the door. Not just from the heating system but also from the lovely staff who were warm, pleasant and very friendly the whole time we were there.

We shared the Pork Wontons to start and although they took a while to arrive they were very enjoyable and made to order fresh.

To follow we shared Chicken Pad Thai, Stir Fry Beef with Cashew Nuts and a small serve of coconut rice. While I was a bit disappointed with the small serving size of the Pad Thai and lack of garnish but the flavour was spot on. The beef dish was also pleasing with the right amount of everything, a heap of crunchy cashews and very tender beef.

Overall we enjoyed our meal and there was no pressure to rush our meal. I was really impressed with the customer service.

This Mama is Hangry no more!

Thanks guys!

Just got back from Peppercorn Thai in greensborough. Have to admit its been a while since ive been to greensborough and theres actually quite alot of places to eat on this strip. Plenty of parking around. Restaurant was pretty quiet when we walked in. Think there was only 2 other tables occupied.

Service was good but would be good of they would offer a bit more suggestions or least tell us what their specials are. Menu was extensive, little bit more then usual.

We ordered a few dishes between the 5 of us. Got roti with peanut sauce which was ok.. nothing special ($10bux for roti and sauce tskk tskk), tom yum soup and coconut soup - waitress said the small bowl was enough for one.. but really i think its enough for two. They were ok. The pad thai with prawn was delicious, good amount of sweet and sour flavour. The green curry was spicy and tasty and the glass noodle with chicken and veggie was bit too plain for my liking. Overall good foods but they Ive tasted better. All the foods came out at once despite the soup and roti asked as entree. We asked for large rice which was slightly not enough for 5 people.

Overall a pleasant meal in the northern suburbs.
First time try Thai food at Peppercorn Thai. My husband had Stir chicken with onion and basil & I had green Thai curry. Green Thai curry was really full of flavours. I really like that. And my husband also enjoyed his meal. Food is little bit expensive but happy with service.

Very busy restaurant on a Saturday evening. Food was excellent and servings were large. Service was@ slow but friendly. Overall very good. Recommended

$6 for roti with an extra $4 for peanut sauce? I would be happy to pay that much extra if the rest of the food was amazing. It wasn't.

Give it a miss.

Absolutely amazing. I have tried Chicken Curry Puff. It is made from curried chicken with beans, not spicy and not too strong, which is absolutely delicious for Entree'. Thai fish cake is homemade and really tasty.
I love the Penang curry Seafood. The flavor of lime leaves and Thai curry is irrestible. My friend tried the BBQ Duck curry and Ginger scallop. I tried a bite and omg, so good.

The satay Peanut sauce is perfect for roti bread. I always come here to hangout with friends. It can't go wrong in Peppercorn. Staff are so friendly and helpful.

They have big table for big group. And if coming in the weekend, I always have to book in advance

Really good food service is amazing a little bit of a wait but definitely worth it! Come here quite often + delivers on Menulog which is a added bonus!

Always a guaranteed good meal whether it is take away or a sit down meal. I love the pad Thai! Byo is always a great option and the decor is lovely!

Greensborough is very fortunate to have a number of really good Thai restaurants in the area and Peppercorn Thai is no exception. You can comfortably count on a really good meal here with good service and reasonable prices. We really like the Tom Yum and the curries.

Yummy Thai food to be had here. We went on a Friday night, and the place was packed, but it was a lovely night so we sat outside. Wait staff very friendly and helpful. We chose four items - the Thai Dim Sims which were excellent - pork with chopped nuts that had been deep fried - the nuts were just softened enough to make them easy to eat without being soggy. Then we had coconut rice (always a favourite), chicken Pad Thai and Red Curry Chicken. The Pad Thai was full of flavours and very fresh tasting, and I could have eaten heaps more of the Red Curry Chicken. We chose the Red Curry as it had a two chilli rating, my favourite is actually Green Curry but it had a three chilli rating, and I have had it before and it is quite hot. Altogether a lovely meal. Parking is a pain in this part of Greensborough though, but there is a fair sized parking lot at the back which should be enough. Highly recommended.

Petite packed with punches.....

Quaint in size, full of those lingering Thai spices and would be hard to beat, especially in the surrounding area.

Family run, another Restaurant in Port Melbourne (which we need to visit) and always pleasant and friendly.

Must go back soon.
Mark Jako
Good honest Thai, definitely recommend this restaurant. The springs rolls are great and the beef stri fry with veggies is awesome. We will be back on a regular basis.

Local favourite. Here's why...

Thursday night and nearly every table was occupied. The two waitresses RAN the food out in an effort to keep up.

We had the specials - crispy barramundi with tamarind sauce and scallops with snow peas, accompanied by coconut rice. The crispy skin was just that! And there was just enough tamarind to give it a kick without overpowering the subtlety of the fish. The scallops were tender. The great thing was that they were not drowning in sauce. And that's Peppercorn's secret - from the food to the decor - nothing is overdone.

Peppercorn is a staple in Greensborough! It's not rocket science as to why - the food is consistently good.

We had eight different dishes tonight and they were all really amazing!! Both the service and the food was soooo good!! 10/10 would recommend!!

My partner and I frequently visit this Thai for dinner. It's one of our favourites. The green curry is always amazing and the wontons. My favourite food there though is the coconut rice. It's a nice little place with friendly staff and it's good value for money.
Rohan Durrant
Excellent food, and lovely service, this is the best Thai in the area for clean, fresh and tasty food. The Thai dim sims are excellent, and although the dishes are not as hot (chilli) as I prefer, the flavours are plentiful
Joanne_buxton
Always excellent food & service. We have dined in and had take away from Peppercorn Thai many times now and have to say the food is consistently excellent. Easily the best Thai food in the area in my opinion. In fact, I took my cousin here for dinner when he was visiting from the UK and he said it was the best Thai food he'd ever eaten - and he's been to Thailand twice!
Weeharrops
Lovely Hidden Gem. It may be a small restaurant but it had a pleasant atmosphere and staff were very attentive. I must recommend the dim sims - nothing like the usual 'chinese style' but in my book a far superior version with a nutty texture and sweet dipping sauce on the side - I will be coming back just so I can have these dimmys again!

Always fresh, the taste is unparalleled. I will drive half way across Melbourne just to eat here and have bought people from afar to share Peppercorn Thai. I don't know a person who hasn't loved Peppercorn Thai, lovely staff and amazing food. What more could you ask for?
Xx-my-wonderland
Horrible!. Good for 3 people cost almost $90 and was so not worth it when I pay that amount I expect to get my money's worth! The food wasn't good either! I highly recommend you do not waist you're time!
Zooniewoonie
Sea of salt. Ordered the pork wontons, beef curry puff, chilli rice noodle with chicken & veg and green curry. Flavour was good but wayyyyyyy TOO MUCH SALT. Thank you for giving me diabetes.
Nana
Beautiful like always. Friendly staff, nice food, always crowded! Will be back for sure
Sonia Perichon
My son ordered pork wonton soup and pad Thai chicken tonight... Couldn't finish either he said both were disgusting and tasteless..first time never again.. Avoid!!!!

Great. Have been here many times and will keep coming back. Easily the best restaurant in the area.
Kimbalina
Excellent and original Thai with grey quality ingredients. Tamarind prawns were a delight as was the gang som pla. Mains were a wee bit slow, but service was attentive and friendly. Quite expensive but worth the cash. Will definitely come back!
Kid friendly too

Not this time. This was the 2nd time we have been to this restaurant, and they were contrasting reviews. The first time everything was great; the second not so much. The quality of food was very good. However, my gluten free spicy chicken dish arrived cold, whilst all the other meals arrived hot, and they forgot to inform me that as there was limited amounts of sauce, my meal wouldn't be spicy. In fact there was no spice whatsoever. The turnover rate was very slow. We waited about a half an hour for our entrées however, there were only 2 tables filled; including us. When our mains arrived it was an hour and a half after we entered the restaurant. It was safe to say we didn't stay for dessert.

Good food. Liked the place, the food was good, abit overpriced for area, would recommend and go back , loved the red curry and beef with cashews, also the tamarind beef
Chad Baygon
Best Thai in the area by far, everything on the menu is pure quality! Have tried others but nothing compares to Peppercorn. Don't waste your time elsewhere this is the place for Quality Thai food.
Freddo
Nice good, good prices. A nice Thai restaurant. Very quiet when we were there. Good food, good price.
Nanas
The good here is good but the service is consistently bad. You can't get them to get you more drinks or more rice. It's a shame because the decor and food is really nice. But then Suwan Thai has better food and much better service.
Aimee Stuart
Disappointing after the hype. Many friends had raved about the quality food at peppercorn, but I was sadly disappointed. Very average food, most dishes looked like exactly the same thing, just coated with a different sauce. The roti bread entree to share between 3 of us was quite small and the peanut sauce bland. Tried some of my friends satay chicken, which was nice and juicy. Terrible drinks/wine list, not even a good range of beers. Staff seemed friendly and helpful which improved the night and the prices were fair. However there are better Thai places and I won't be back.
Maria Papa
Good Food. A bit pricey for Thai... However good food and gluten free friendly. The first time I went food was too salty (I love salt). Better one my next two visits. Friendly staff and good ambience.
Tony
Try this place through a recommendation, great fresh food, portions are just right and service was excellent will be back (can not understand why the don't likes were complaining)
Andrew
The food here is so sanitised to western palate its close to unrecognisable as thai. For the price they are charging the portions are tiny flavor weak and
presrntation poor.

Good Quality Thai!. I love this place! Definitely one of my favourite Thai restaurants. The only thing I don't know or a fan of is their Tom Yum Soup, which can be a lot better.

The serving sizes are small, but the quality is great. The ingredients are fresh and very high quality. I hate when Thai restaurants use the cheap cuts, but here at Peppercorn they use the best quality of meats. Very impressed. The flavours are great!

I've been here many times and they have yet to disappoint me. And the service is already great. Love a restaurant that brings you water without asking!
CandyCane
Yummm. Went there on a Friday night & it was booked out... the service was good.. and the food was just amazing... it was fresh, tasty , well prepared & the coconut rice was the best I've tasted so far... will be going back to try some more items on the menu... a bit pricey.. but you definitely get what you pay for.

Peppercorn Thai. We have the same owners & same chef since opening in December 2006.
Deliah_wilson
I love this place. It's small and can get quite noisy but it just adds to the atmosphere. The place has changed owners recently but i havent noticed any changes for the worst, they are sticking with what they do best which is yummy thai food! I have never been disappointed with anything I have tried here. Crispy skin salmon was delicious, pad Thai flavorful, beef with chilli has just enough kick to keep you on your toes. My partner tried the plum chicken and it was dry so he didn't eat it, but it was taken off the bill and they appologised profusely. I would go back again in a heartbeat!
Adrian De Fazio
One of the better thai places. II don't agree with most comments here when they say the servings are small and overpriced. Sure, they may be a little bit smaller than other Thai places, but they will still fill you up and you will struggle to finish them. Chicken skewers were solid, with a very generous side serving of satay sauce, mussaman curry was incredible and stir fry wasn't too bad. Would definitely go back.
Adfualit
Servings small & overpriced. Service & decor good but do not make up for the dearth of food.
Aj
As good as the food was be prepared to pay for what you get.
LG
I love the food but just for takeaway or delivery. Way too small and crammed inside the restaurant. Its an hour wait for delivery but totally worth it.
J.T.
Too cramped to eat in. But brilliant to takeaway. Even when the wait is 45+ min. Worth it !!
Sarah
Food was amazing- fresh and flavorsome- service as bad as previous reviews- worth putting up with though!!
Claire Worthington
Fantastic Thai. We went on a Thursday night and although the restaurant was full inside the staff found us space on the street outside. Food was delicious - especially the Crying Tiger which was done to perfection - and the service was fine, all our courses arrived in good time, no long waits or sense of being rushed. Definitely worth a re-visit (or three!) x
Sabrina Gupta
Horrid service- great food!. Been there a few times and loved the food. Last time there had atrocious service with very long wait times. People who came after us were served much before us. Very rude manager.
What a shame to loose out on such good food!
Michelle
Amazing!. I love thai food and this is possibly my favourite thai restaurant. Service is great & the food is delicious, can't really ask for much more! It's true, you get what you pay for.
Mr Gluten Free
One of only a few limited restaurants that deliver in greensborough area. For this reason I have ordered home delivery on several occasions. Food is good although for prices charged it needs to be- tad expensive but will continue to frequent until another thai restaurant starts delivery
Claire
Great place. Great restaurant, great food. Always full so book ahead!
Brent
A very nice thai place, a tad bit more $$ but food is always spot on :)
Roady
Peppercorn Thai might be a little more expensive thanany other Thai places however the food is delicous. Service is excellent with the glass of iced water topped up constantly.
