Review Ella's Greek Cafe Restaurant - Greensborough

Lovely night out in Greensborough; welcoming, friendly staff, fresh, Greek- themed decor (surprisingly spacious, love the colours), lots of variety on the menu (including cheesy wood-fired pizza, even the breakfasts look tempting!) and good prices. We had the Groupon special banquet - Wow! Taste after taste, and super- tender meat... with a personal touch for dessert! We couldn't finish it all - no problems, they packed the rest up for us to take home. A great place for a celebration, quick meal or takeaway!

Very friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Went on a Groupon deal. Get value for money. Nice home made food; a couple of items were just a little oily.

I had the meat platter for two, which is a delicious combination of lamb, pork, chicken and sausages just for $50. I also ordered a Greek salad and a combination of sauces with bread. I enjoyed the desert which was a caramel cream. My partner ordered a passion fruit cheese cake which she didn't enjoyed (it was not too fresh). I would come back though. Really enjoyed the dinner.

Oh just so yummy, you won’t the best Greek cuisine for get the rest. Lovely ambience is popular with guests and the Menu is plentiful and amazing tastes, hubby got stuck into the Pork Belly OMG and didn’t share a nibble, friends had lamb skewers and they didn’t share either. George and his wonderful wife are so obliging and make you feel part of the family.cheers

Love this place and go there quite often! Great food and positive energies we get there everytime we visit. Very nice and friendly staff! Chef George and Ulla are the best, very kind and lovely! Generous portions! Beautiful and peaceful place to relax and enjoy with awesome blue coloured walls decorated with mirrors and pictures of stunning Greek places hanging on them. Cute small playing area for kids as well. Strongly recommended!

Beautiful food (I had the pork belly - AMAZING!), great prompt service, lovely staff, reasonably priced. Even got given some free dessert and got chased down the street because I left my phone behind on the table! HIGHLY RECOMMEND 😍😍😍

Beautiful baklava and desserts! Family agreed it was the best baklava they've had! Very warm and welcoming staff. Looking forward to trying more off the menu. Would recommend to anyone 👌

Based on the glowing reviews, my wife and I decided to go. We picked the $110 banquet as it would let us sample the menu, and hopefully the food would be quick. The first waiter was attentive, and took our order, 10 mins later, waiter #2 asked if we'd like to order. We explained we already had..... 10 minutes later waiter #1 reappeared and asked us "What was your order again?". After 30 minutes our dips arrived, something that should have been a lot quicker. After nearly an hour, the rest of our entrees arrived. The food was adequate, but missing the promised calamari. Main course arrived, but we never got our pizza which was one of a few additional items on the most expensive banquet menu. Once again food was nice. Desert was inadequate for two, the loukoumades (3) were doughy and drizzled with 2 thin lines of chocolate sauce, meant to be honey. Asked if we wanted tea or coffee, mentioned in the menu as included. These were charged as additional when paying the bill! When you're paying for the most expensive thing in the menu, this really grates. Food was nice, but the service, tardiness, lack of food mentioned as being in the banquet and the extra charge ruined a good night. So from us..... "Good night Ellas".

Lovely evening - delightful staff, welcoming decor, yummy food... the banquet was SO filling but no problems taking home the excess! Most impressed, and the rest of the menu looked tempting with good prices - well worth a return visit :)

The host was so rude to us and treated us the way if it's our first time having a launch out! The food was not so good, although some of kebabs were cooked perfectly. The price comparing to other similar restaurant is much more expensive. This is an iranian restaurant and you expect to have a good portion in your dish. It's not a french cousin to have small tasty dishes!

Awesomeness right here! My new favourite local restaurant.

Ellas Greek Cafe is a humble family establishment that serves nice food that are good portions at cheap prices. They do lack wait staff so the owner is literally the cook and waiter which meant a slower and rushed service interaction that was punctuated with a number of apologies. We did enjoy are meals.

It's a very unassuming Greek restaurant, but do please give this place a try and you will be very pleasantly surprised by the hospitality of the owners, and the excellent food they serve at very good prices.
They treat every single customer that walks in well, and you will feel well taken care of the whole time.
This time round we had the chicken schnitzel, grilled calamari and a pizza. Pizza was done over wood fired oven and it was good. The chicken and calamari were both really well cooked and tender.
Their pancakes are to die for too!

Walked past this place couple of times, never really had to urge to go in but finally decided to try it today. What a pleasant surprise! Food was delicious and portions were so generous. And for such good prices as well. You can tell the owners take pride in their food and service.

We tried this place for the first time for dinner and will be back! The food was very tasty, in particular I recommend the octopus and for dessert the loukoumades. The staff are super lovely and it seems to be a family business. The ambience/decor is a little lacking but as I said we will be back for more food.

Went here using a groupon which was great value! Greek feast with a glass of wine each for 4 people was $115! The first dish they brought out was a trio of dips. The pita bread was so nice & there was plenty to go around. The second dishes were the appetisers which included saganaki, stuffed dolmades, fried courgettes, calamari & octopus! The saganaki, calamari & octopus was delicious. My sister & I tried the dolmades but we didn’t like the taste of the leaf around it but my dad loved it. Only thing I can fault was that the fried courgettes didn’t have much zucchini in it. It was mainly batter. The third dishes included moussaka, Greek salad & a meat platter. The moussaka was delicious & so was the meat platter. They didn’t put too much on it so it wasn’t over kill. The pork, chicken skewers & chops were my favourite! Last but not least is the desserts. We got loukoumades, baklava, cheese cake & tiramisu. The loukoumades were good because who would say donuts are yuck!? Plus the cheese cake was nice. Overall a great place to visit. The staff were very friendly & came over to check up on us a few times but not too much that it got annoying!
I’ll definitely be back to check out what else they have to offer :)

Came in at 8.30 and the place was empty. The lady working came over to greet me. Having never been to the restaurant I was unsure what to order but was craving a Greek lamb salad.
I told the chef what I was craving and he said anything you like I can make. I also ordered a pizza for my Mum.
The lady even threw in some loukoumades. They were so fresh!

Got home and oh my gosh it was so much better than expected! The salad was amazing and my mum said it was the best pizza she had had in so long!
She even went back a week later with my dad and he said the same.

Great little gem of a restaurant we will be back!
