Good food and very accommodating of special dietary requirements. Good service and a pleasant dining room. Parking at the rear is a bonus and loved the massive, ancient frangipani tree in the middle of the carpark.
We went here for a Mums only dinner, minus kids, and it was fantastic. The food was delicious and the service excellent! The staff were friendly and helpful, and their outfit are beautifully colourful.
As there was four of us, we went with the banquet option, which costs $40 per person, and includes four entrees, four mains and rice to share, and a dessert. The entrees include satay chicken skewers, money bags, spring rolls and curry puffs, and comes with a selection of sauces to match. The mains includes green curry with chicken, chicken and cashew stir fry, a vegetable stir fry, and a fish curry made with barramundi.
The dishes were spicy, but not burn your face off hot. More aromatic really. The chicken and cashew stir fry was probably my favourite, with the green curry a close second. The balance of spicy with the salty and sweet flavours was delightful.
We finished with deep fried ice cream and deep fried banana. I’ve not had deep fried ice cream before, so it was quite a novelty. Very tasty, but the batter was a little tricky to break through.
For a group night out, the banquet option is fantastic value. We brought our own bottle of wine to share, as the restaurant do not charge for corkage. We’d definitely head back again.
Food has always been great (usually have green chicken curry, yellow curry or even massam beef). Staff are always eager to help with anything, one of the best Thai places around.
Have been here several times now and have enjoyed the food each time. Curry puffs are yum. Delicious Garlic & Pepper Beef. Nice customer service. Is a bit on the expensive side though.
A great occasion for our family group of 8. The shared banquet ($40 ph) was the way to go and gave us a very tasty range and variety of delicious dishes. Loved the entrees almost as much as the (tender) beef curry. Authentic Thai decore and young friendly helpful staff in Thai costume. Obviously very popular due to the large number of customers however this did not detract from the good prompt service that we enjoyed, Will certainly come again.
We recently celebrated our daughters birthday. There is a large room at back of restaurant which can accommodate for parties or private functions. The staff were so helpful nothing was too much trouble, love the traditional uniforms. Food is amazing best Thai we have had can bring your own drinks byo. Thanks to all the staff for making our daughters night go to plan our families will definitely be back to this gem in Guildford.
I really enjoyed this place! The atmosphere is great and the traditional dress is very attractive. Anyway, we had dinner here last week, enjoying lamb cutlets and satay sticks for entree followed by beef pad prik Thai on and chicken pad Thai with jasmine rice (of course). Everything was fresh, really tasty, served quickly and with a smile. It's not a cheap place to have Thai food but it was worth it. Head out there and try it.
Great friendly service and the dining atmosphere was great. Very authentic Thai restaurant with traditional Thai decorating. Service was great with staff having full faith in menu items and they were not to be disappointed . I ventured out to a recommend dish from the waiter and was glad it did. Great prices too.
Easily the best Thai food Perth has to offer. The quality of the food and service is 2nd to none and well worth the drive. Dine in and take away experiences have always been satisfying. The Pla Choo Chee is a must.
Just wow from the moment you walk in till the paying the bill the staff looked after us. All the dishes we got had taste and flavour to them. Its BYO which is always a plus with no corkage fee. Will be going back for sure
A step up from your regular suburban thai in all areas of decor (excellent), service (friendly and well attired), and food quality which was excellent. We had a chicken green curry and pad thai. The green curry was one of the best i have had for a while and the pad thai was solid. The restaurant isn't licenced so BYO. The only small downer is I think the main menu prices are a little high at $25.00 per main dish. Otherwise a very enjoyable evening out.
The food here is delicious and they make an awesome massaman curry. Love the Thai style uniforms and decor. The downside is this place is way overpriced like every other restaurant in Guildford. You're looking at $25-$30 per dish.
We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere of this place, staff are lovely. I haven't come across a dish I haven't liked. Make sure to book or get there early it dose get very busy.
Opulently decorated ambience , also loved the rich golden tablecloths and the waitstaff dressed in traditional clothes. Flavourful dishes suited for sharing, the bill should come to less than the $90 for two listed on Zomato. Pad thai not as tangy as I'd like, but the creamy green curry is a favourite.
Dined here for Father's Day for a table of 6. The service was really good, custoner service was attentive and very friendly. Food was delicious. Came out hot and full of flavour. Timing was really well done as well. The Pad Thai was not my favourote, as I have has better elsewhere, but everything else was almost a new favourite. They executed the dishes well. Would dine here again and I would recommend other to try it out.
Parking can be an issue.
This is a great restaurant with flavorsome foods served to your table in a very acceptable timeframe (even during peak hours). The service is great with staff offering rice ever 15 minutes. The price for the food is reasonable with around $25 per head. Family and I (6 in total) ate an amazing array of food for under $180.
Only down side is the parking however, come early and enjoy the food.
I just have one thing to say - pineapple fried rice. It is sooooooooooooooooo good. The curries are delicious, staff are great and attentive. Love masaman, and sometimes the beef tends to be a little too dry, despite the delicious sauce. Lots of options on the menu and the desserts aren't half bad; but the frieeeeeeeeeeeed riceeeeeeeee!

We had plenty of time to enjoy our meals and we were never rushed by the staff.

Great service, great food, great atmosphere. You walk in and you're greeted warmly. The restaurant is big but well decorated and feels cosy. It is a little expensive for thai food, but is a higher quality meal than other thai restaurants. My partner and I had the fish cakes, which were good; the plum duck which was excellent and just the right amount of sweet; and the peppercorn pork stirfry which was delicious and spicy and came together really well. Delicious and will go there again for sure!
Award winning Thai food. I've been visiting this restaurant for years and it is consistently brilliant! No wonder they have won and been nominated for many Gold Plate awards. Very pleasant staff, fresh produce, top chef. Only criticism is that it is really very mild (chilli wise) compared to food in Thailand, but this is easily solved with a request for more chilli in the dishes. One of the best restaurants in Perth.

A little gem!. Finally visited this place after years of living in Guildford and I wasn't disappointed. Fantastic service, nothing was a bother for them and it's BYO!! Also loved the Thai outfits the staff wore, just added that extra feel to the place. We ordered entrees of curry puffs and chicken skewers. For mains we had Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Red Curry. Food was delicious, well priced and beautifully presented. Loved the look and feel of the restaurant, very well decorated and a lovely atmosphere.. a little gem!

Outstanding. I came here for a friends birthday dinner. It was my first time dinning here but she had been here previously and just had to come back! I now know why!
I am a vegetarian and usually that makes it difficult for me to dine out. I was very impressed with the King and I as they have an entire vegetarian menu!

Pleasent. I love Thai food, and although like most "westernised" Thai restaurants the dishes are watered down they are still quite authentic compared to many other places. The prices I would say are above average but the service and ambiance make up for this. A good addition to the Guildford scene

We normally just get take away, and I think the prices are quite reasonable.
The dishes to try are the Massaman Curry, the fish cakes and the Satay chicken.

We consistently have a good time at King & I. We often take visitors and always leave happy. We love the Massaman Curry and Curry I Am. Occasionally on very busy nights the staff are working their hearts out and seem a bit stretched but are always amazingly presented and polite. Prices I guess are usual for Perth, but overall since we take a bottle with us and aren't paying obscene drinks prices we find it pretty good.

Not vegetarian. I reviewed this before raving about vegetarian choices but need to take that back. I rang tonight to check the red curry is vegetarian. I was assured it was and asked her to check with the kitchen if it contained fish sauce. Oh yes, fish sauce! I hate to be a pain at the table and make a fuss, but seriously? The staff need to know what is in the dishes when there are allergens etc to be considered. Perhaps it's just on the phone and it will be easier when I get there but it looks like it's down to one option.
Busy Saturday night service, food was delicious, I had all vegetarian options and they were great. Others dishes were massaman beef, red wine stir fry & prawns and all were pronounced great. Service a tiny bit slow but they were very busy & as soon as you made a motion to get attention it was swiftly attended to. At the expensive end for Thai but very good.

It's Delicious! Highly Recommended. We have eaten here many times and always go home raving about how delicious the meal was. We think the prices are fair and go here to enjoy a meal that is about quality and flavour. Every dish has its own unique, clean taste with the fresh ingredients used evident with every morsal. Staff are beautifully dressed and very attentive.
Took our 3 boys aged 11, 13 and 15 tonight and they all gave it 10 out of 10. Ordered , Chicken & Cashew Stirfry, Chicken Pad Thai, Massamann curry, Red curry, Flying Duck and Beef with Red wine. Everything Delicious!
Highly recommend! Best thai ive eaten since actually visiting thailand!! Flavours are great, servings are plentiful, staff are very friendly and really listen. My hubby cant eat hot foods so when ordering for him we always ask for his food to be mild no matter what he wants. They always follow through and my hubby can finally dine in a thai cuisine restaurant and have more then one option available to him!! Make sure you book because they are very popular! And dont forget if you dont wanna go out to eat you can still get it takeaway!! Yummo
A class above!. Tried King and I for he first time last night to celebrate a bday, and really loved it! The staff are very attentive, beautifully presented and extremely friendly. The decor is very elegant and the food is scrumptious!
A highlight dish was the flying duck (signature dish). I also always judge my Thai on the chicken larb, and this was amazing and a generous serve. I enjoyed the beef penang curry. Not to mention there was a constant top up of steamed rice.

Can't be beaten!. This place is wonderful. Gracious service, no corkage on BYO , and the best vegetarian dishes ever served at a place that also serves meat! The Tofu TOdd is perfection and at $8 for an entree, quite big enough for a main with rice. The veg red curry is out of this world and the veg curry puffs are divine. I've never had a bad visit and neither have any of the many friends I've recommended it to.
Very good service, authentic thai cuisine (we had green curry, massaman curry and veg spring rolls). The portions are pretty huge! Will go many times more!!

Can only comment on takeaway, but have never been disappointed with the quality of the food at King & I. We have tried a broad range of dishes and they have all been great to outstanding. The Tom Yum soup is a standout. Love it (and it's just down the road - yippee).

I like this place, though it was a bit on the pricey side for the area. soup was delicious, i enjoyed the green curry and basil dishes. my partner did think lamb entree was chewy and the flavours too much but overall happy with the experience and probably be back in the future.

Peppercorns People!. Great Thai here. The specials are best. The only problem is, there are peas in some of the dishes? I'm guessing this is to Australinise them.. Also the peppercorns are dried ones. Confused? It's because Thai dishes contain fresh peppercorns that look like peas. I hope this peas in Thai curries doesn't catch on. It's not grandmas roast dinner so lets leave out the peas.
Great Thai. This place serves fantastic traditional Thai food almost as good as the good you get in Thailand, the service staff are attentive and polite and the Thai serving wear lends that little bit extra authenticity to the food. If you like Thai food, you'll LOVE King & I.

Mr Doe and I have visited King & I numerous times for dinner, for the main part in the company of large groups of my in-laws.
The food is consistently of a high standard and when we've visited with those who have special dietary requirements King & I have happily accommodated gluten free and other requests. The pad thai is great and their beef massaman curry is to die for. We also love the Penang curry and Thai fish cakes.
Service is prompt and staff are always very sweet and polite.
Alcohol is BYO only so remember to bring a bottle of wine with you.
Good Flavoursome Thai. Visited here a few times now and i love the food, its always satisfying. i must admit it is pricey but the service is tops and they aren't scared to serve 'westerners' chilli here.

Food is amazing. I have been to King and I Thai at least 10 times. This place is the best. The decor has a traditional look and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The service is quick and the staff have never made a mistake with our orders. The food is just amazing!! You must visit this restaraunt. The pad thai, massaman curry and chicken green curry are a must.

Good Duck. I've been here once and I tried the Plum Duck, the crispy noodles were delicious and I didn't hesitate to eat the whole dish! Good generous dishes.
